Enjoy the sea breezes, listen to the waves crash and watch dolphins frolic in the surf as you sip your morning coffee or evening cocktail on one of three oceanfront decks. Just a short walk down the walkway and you're in the sand! Inside, you'll enjoy all the comforts of home in this updated and beautifully furnished townhome, all with a gorgeous view.
'Sun' is the north unit of this single owner duplex. The spacious driveway offers plenty of parking - there's even room for you to park your boat. Enter from the carport on the ground level. This entry level houses 'The Alcove' with a comfortable queen bed and 32in 'smart' TV with access to Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. Especially popular with teenagers but comfortable enough for adults!
One story up is the main living area including a living room with 60in flat screen 'smart' TV (including Netflix) and plenty of comfortable seating. The dining area has a table with seating for 8 and the well-stocked kitchen has granite counter tops & a bar with 3 bar stools. There is a half bath on this floor and, most importantly, an oceanfront deck off the living room with a dining table for 6 and the walkway to the beach!
The top floor has an oceanfront master suite with a king bed, flat screen 'smart' TV (including Netflix) and private bath with shower. A door from the hallway leads to the 2nd story covered deck and on up to the rooftop deck for the best views of the ocean by day, stars by night. This is a great spot to catch the sunset and for stargazing at night!
The other two bedrooms are also found on this level. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and flat screen 'smart' TV. The 3rd bedroom, or 'Bunk Room', is perfect for the kids with two sets of bunk beds and a flat screen 'smart' TV. There is a full bath in the hallway serving these two bedrooms with a tub/shower.
Other great features include a gas grill (located in carport) for grilling fresh local seafood or steaks. There is an enclosed outdoor hot/cold shower in the carport - always fun to shower outdoors! There is also a hose at the end of the beach walkway for rinsing off the sand on your way in from a day relaxing and playing on the beach. There are games, books and recent magazines for your enjoyment as well.

'Crowded' is not part of our vocabulary on this part of North Topsail Beach. There is plenty of room for your family to spread out chairs and blankets, play corn hole, bocci ball or paddle ball, throw the football or Frisbee and play your favorite beach tunes, without disturbing, or being disturbed, by others. Rest easy as the kids play in the surf, protected by a sand bar about 30-40 feet out, or in the tidal pools that may appear late in the day. Enjoy great surf fishing around the posts of a former pier north of the house or surf and boogie board the waves. All in all, a perfect place to relax and enjoy the long days of summer. And by summer, we mean May through October, at least!

What an amazing place to stay! It was the perfect size for the whole family. The top deck was a wonderful place to sit and have our tea and coffee in the mornings while trying to spot dolphins. The location was a convenient 10 minute drive to grocery and souvenir stores. It was clean and well kept. I would have liked more storage in the kitchen to place all our food for the week, but we made it work! Being able to take our dog with us was an added bonus.
If this is your first time going to Topsail you MUST go to the Topsail Trading Company and get some homemade fudge….it is amazing and they have so many flavors to try!

We had a wonderful stay at Up on the Roof! The house was perfect for our needs and the location can’t be beat. We especially loved the sandbar at low tide and tide pools in the evenings, helping us max out our hours on the beach. Amy was super accessible and helpful during our stay.

Start off with the good - the beach is in the backyard, and that’s about it.
Be prepared to make your own beds on check in, we asked where are all the sheets? Owner comment, “oh due to the pandemic, we aren’t making any beds, linens are in a bag by the door”. Ok… been to 20 + vacation rentals in the post-pandemic era, and this is a first. Should get a discount on the cleaning fee if I’m also a housekeeper.
This is a duplex, with neighbors only a small 2 way door apart, as in adjoining hotel rooms. Our neighbors were partying hard with a large group late into the night. We told the owner, who said they would say something, but nothing changed, doubt they reached out to the other renter. Few other little issues, always an excuse from the owner. Never took responsibility for anything.
Very heavy storm one day while we were there, woke up in the morning to discover the roof leaked all night right into my wife’s suitcase. Full of water. That was our last straw and we left a day early. Notified the owner of the leak, and another excuse, no apology. We were offered a credit to come back, not that we would anyways. Never received the credit, tried to follow up with the owner but never a reply. Filed a complaint with VRBO.
Do yourself a favor and find anything else to rent while visiting the area.

Communication with the host was outstanding. The property is accurately described and pictured in the listing. The location is perfect, secluded from the hustle yet close to everything you would need. We would definitely stay here again!

We have been coming to Topsail for over 30 years so needless to say, it’s a special place to us…like a second home! Up on the Roof was a wonderful place to stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Clean and everything was as described. It was no problem but we could hear the other guests thru the shared door but it wasn’t an issue. Check in was easy and linens arrived. No hesitation in recommending this home.

This house was GREAT! It was so clean and the furniture was nice and clean too. We weren’t afraid to sit on the furniture, as with some houses in the past! The walk to the beach was short and easy. Close enough to make multiple trips back to the house for supplies, potty breaks, extra drinks, beach gear, etc. The location is great! The beach wasn’t crowded, even at the public beach/parking area a quarter mile down! It’s a short and easy drive to Surf City where all the shops and restaurants are. The decks were by far our favorite part of the house, though! We LOVE sitting and watching the waves crash or looking for dolphins and this house has the PERFECT decks for that! Amy was super responsive and accommodating to our needs. We will definitely be back!

A place for great memories
From the moment of arrival, a sense of relaxation came upon us knowing we would be staying at a place that will accommodate our every need. The property overlooks the ocean and has plenty of space for relaxation. It's very convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, and places to enjoy a day of fun. Super glad this was the place of choice for our vacation. Will Definitely be back and Amy was super awesome and attentive to our every need. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place.

Amazing oceanfront access
We had a wonderful long weekend getaway! The property has amazing direct access to the beach. Beach was uncrowded with mild waves…great for families.

Stunning
Amy and Greg are the kindest hosts! The home is gorgeous, stocked with everything you need. We hosted a family dinner of 18 people with all the comforts of home. The beach is amazing! Clean, private, all the neighbors are pleasant. Thankful we were able to spend a week living the simpler life in paradise.

Spacious and Comfortable
Our family loved this house. There is plenty of room in the gathering areas and in the sleeping areas, and nothing beats being just steps away from the beach.

Horrible Experience
Our experience with this property and the hosts was difficult to say the least. First night, we found a live giant cockroach the size of a key fob in the first floor bed under the sheets. That person slept on the couch that evening and no one slept on that bed our entire stay even after the owners sent out a bug sprayer.
The fridge leaks water leaving a large puddle in front every morning to clean up so kids don’t slip and fall.
The pictures of the property are old and deceiving. The pictures show all beds are made with sheets already on and towels next to the beds. In reality, all bed sheets and towels are in a bag on the bottom floor so all beds have to be made yourself.
The pictures also show three rocking chairs outside. Instead there was only one functional rocking chair and another one was missing the seat. No third one.
One night and the following day we had heavy rain. We found out the roof leaks badly. Water leaked in two bedrooms, a hallway, down the wall of the stairs, and from the kitchen ceiling onto the kitchen island. We had pots catching water and spent the day mopping up water which continued leaking all day to prevent anyone from slipping and just trying to prevent unnecessary damage to the house.
At closer inspection, the house leaked several times before. There’s water stains on the kitchen ceiling and baseboard trim in some bedrooms.
We contacted the owners about the leak. They sent a roofer out and couldn’t find the source of the leaks. The owner Greg came out and was very rude. His entire focus was on the property instead of our experience. No thank you for helping with the water leaks and only a quick apology for the inconvenience as he was going up the stairs to look at the leaks. He vacuumed up some water, plugged in a fan, and a moldy smelling dehumidifier in the bedroom.
We asked for a partial refund from the owners first in writing, then again verbally, then again in writing and each time they’ve deflected from giving us a definitive answer. We never would have stayed in this property if we knew what we were getting into.
It’s been over 3 days and still the owners refuse to advise whether they are willing to give a partial refund or not. Choose a different host.

Great house
Love this townhouse. The view of the ocean from the master bedroom was my favorite. It’s just 15 steps to the beach. During high tide the water comes almost to the steps leading up to the house. Plenty of space outside to hang out and have great chats with friends and family. I’d bring extra laundry detergent and some cascade tabs as well as ice. Lots of dishes and containers to store leftovers in! It’s a great house!

Very clean, great location on the island
Home was very clean. We enjoyed having the roof over our heads on the decks. We enjoy this area of the island as it's only 10 minutes down to Surf City one way and 10 minutes over to Sneads Ferry the other way. The home was as described in the listing. Very clean, updated and nice. We had no complaints and would be happy to stay there again in the future. There is an RV park across the street, but it was very quiet and the RV beach access is far down and not near the house.

Great location!
This property has a great view with very easy access to the beach, so nice not to have to drag a loaded wagon for blocks. Being able to go to the rooftop deck to see the stars was a great benefit too. When we needed assistance from the owners we got immediate help.

Great topsail getaway
Our family of 5 loved the space and updated finishes of the ‘sun’ unit. Two covered decks were a big plus and somewhat unique amongst topsail properties. We loved enjoying coffee and the gorgeous ocean views from the top deck in the am, and catching a break from the sun in the afternoons on the lower deck with our book. Kitchen had all we needed to pull together meals when we weren’t enjoying carry out from a few local places in nearby surf city. Beach was awesome - not too crowded and every housegoer kept to the section in front of their property. The unit is a duplex - our neighbors were super friendly but large group could be loud sometimes when they were in the kitchen near the pass-through door. Amy was great to work with. Overall a great place and can’t wait to return for another visit in the future.

Fabulous Beach Vacay!
We usually stay at Wrightsville Beach a few times each summer, but booked this property at the last minute as an unplanned getaway (during COVID). We didn't know what to expect, but we were so impressed by not only the house, but the beach as well! The house felt light, airy, and clean (with fairly new furniture!) -- the multiple levels of outdoor decks and patios was so awesome as well. Also notably, the extended boardwalk out to the beach made for a far easier haul to the sand than we are used to, that was a lifesaver!!

Great Place to spend a week at the beach!!!
Thanks Amy for a great place to spend a week at the beach! You were great to deal with and always quick to handle the little bit of issues I had before we came. When we arrived, we were so glad to find a very clean, comfortable home that was just as it appeared in the photos! It smelled great too :) (Trust me, that was an issue at a place we stayed several years ago! LOL!) We had plenty of space for the week, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had plenty of supplies. The patio is great. Loved all the comfortable furniture out there...we really enjoyed that. Of course, the reason to rent right on the beach is just that! You are right on the beach to enjoy being able to go out early morning as well as at dusk and all day in-between, And, the fact that this place is pet friendly makes it wonderful. We fond out that our little 13 pound pooch actually enjoys the beach! She enjoyed her early morning and evening strolls as much as we did! One tip for anyone who stays here: Make sure to bring all your beach paraphernalia up to the deck every night...we did. Washed it all off every day. However, the people in the buildings on both sides of us did not and they both had their canopies taken by the town police! Yeh, not so good. (But, it's the law.) It's worth bringing your stuff up every night!!! Hopefuplly, we'll be back again! Just love our little North Topsail Island!

Great location, beautiful wide uncrowded beach (why I love Topsail!)
This house had great amenities, fully supplied with digital entertainment options and access. Great bonus was having linens supplied and beds made! Enjoyed the master bedroom facing the ocean, with big covered deck and wonderful views.

Relaxing oceanfront stay
This is a nice house and pet friendly which was important to us. The kitchen is well equipped.
Only negatives were the view from the main living level looks at the dunes and you can barely see the water. However, the second floor deck off the master has a great view as well as the roof top. Also, there is no DVD player and we had brought movies to watch. You can get some movies through the owner's netflix but we found that limiting. Overall, a reasonable week.

Great house right on the beach!
We had a great week and loved being right on the beach. It was a beautiful location. The house was very comfortable with plenty of nice touches (TVs in every room, great beds, well stocked kitchen, linens and plenty of sand and sun!) The covered decks were great too, especially the one on the top floor. Great place to have a cup of coffee in the morning! It was great to have a washer/dryer to do some of the laundry before we left. We love Topsail Island and have been coming here for years. We'll be back for sure!!

We did not want to leave!
My family had an absolutely wonderful experience here! It was the most amazing Beach and the condo itself was beautifully maintained. When we got there there were individually wrapped sheet sets provided as well as towel sets, and it felt just like home. We did not want to leave when the day came for us to go. There was only one drawback and that was that the steps down to the beach were buried halfway up so initially it was a bit difficult to make it down to the beach, but other than that I would go back in a heartbeat. The owner was extremely accommodating, and answered all of my questions. Really great experience - loved it!
