Overall, a very nice stay for four adults. Nice views of the lagoon pond and a great deck. There are nesting ospreys a short paddle away. It would be better if there were four kayaks, instead of the three and a double canoe/kayak vessel. Driveway to cottage is a little rough in spots; a car with low clearance might have a problem. Great biking paths around the island.

We spent 9 nights here, and it is a wonderful, unique home. The location is amazing. We could walk down a private path to swim, sail, and kayak, all with provided kayaks and a Sunfish, in a huge ocean water lagoon. I swam laps almost every day in the cool refreshing water. The kitchen and appliances are all clean and in great shape. There is air conditioning in two rooms which made a huge difference on a few extremely humid days. There are bikes provided that we used for quick rides into the cute village of Vineyardhaven. It is an easy 20 minute car ride into Oak Bluffs. There is a wrap around deck which gave everyone a bit of privacy. It is quiet and peaceful. It is a great place to come back to at the end of a day at the beach. Amazing place. We hope to come back.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home. We spent mornings and evenings enjoying meals and board games on the porch. It’s a quiet oasis with easy access to Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs, and Edgartown by car (5-15 mins). Would recommend bringing a car if you’re planning to stay here. We can’t wait to come back!

The home was cozy/elegant with gorgeous views of water and woods. Beautiful art throughout the house. We had a wonderful, comfortable stay and wanted to stay longer!

Not sure about sharing the premises with a stranger but otherwise a wonderful few days .

The views are great on a nice day! We did have some rain but it didn’t stop us from visiting the various towns. Border road is a bit rough if you don’t have an SUV. Would definitely recommend!

The views were amazing. The house is very nice. The location is great but the dirt road to get there with all its crevasses and slopes makes it a little difficult to navigate, especially after a rainy day. Also, if it were my rental, I'd invest in upgrading the mattresses. They've seen better days and very firm. The house has a caretaker, who is lovely! However, it would have been nice to know that she is living beneath the house in the basement ahead of time, especially since there is only a spiral staircase to a locked door between us. The best part of this property are the ocean views and style of the house with wood paneling throughout, which was pretty amazing.

I’ve been visiting the vineyard for several years now and this is by far my favorite place I’ve stayed. Surrounded by woods and a short trail up from the water, it’s an incredibly peaceful place to stay. There’s tons of great bird watching and being able to kayak off the small beach in the mornings was such a treat. The house is well stocked and has a rustic, cabin-in-the-woods feel while still having all the modern conveniences. And while the property has a remote feel, it’s still an easy and quick drive to Vineyard Haven town center. I would absolutely stay here again.

This house is fantastic! Personal and quirky design, an architect’s singular project. House is in a wonderful setting and extremely comfortable with many places to sit and enjoy. Bikes and kayaks are included, and the kitchen is well enough appointed. There are games and a washer & dryer to complete the picture. Seriously, this is the kind of place to return to every year.

We had a lovely time at Ray’s house. We thoroughly enjoyed the views on the morning from the deck, bird watching, etc. The house was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, Jess the caretaker who lives downstairs was very friendly too.
The location was great! Close to town but still private. We would stay here again.

What a special property! This beautiful art deco style home has everything you need: kayaks, bikes, life vests, games, books, and a fully stocked kitchen. We like to cook and bake and found every utensil my hime kitchen has. The best part is the lagoon outside. The view from the deck is priceless. We had most of our meals on the deck. Truly is a kayaker’s paradise: calm water, perfect for our little one to learn to kayak and to swim to her heart’s content. I want to be back already. For any first-time island visitors reading this review: if you’re taking your car on the island, buy the ferry tickets well ahead of your trip. They get sold out for the summer months in advance (learned the hard way).

This was our second time and it felt like home. From entry to exit all needs were met. Comfortable for everyone to have their own space for relaxation. A nice big dining table for us to enjoy meals together, and we even played cards for an after dinner treat! We had a great time with some of us kayaking and others of us taking lots of pictures. We love watching the birds during the day and seeing the starry sky at night. Can't wait to return again - Thank you Ray!

Centrally located, but away from the crowds. Beautiful view of and access to Lagoon Pond. Nice restful stay on MV.

Such a wonderful place to spend a relaxing weekend. The house is so comfortable and peaceful-- the view from the deck is outstanding. Definitely walk down to the lagoon beach and around to the fish ladder. Location is so convenient -- we enjoyed exploring the island-- it was our first visit. We had one question when we checked in and Ray responded quickly and helped us with find additional bedding for the pull out couch - which was comfortable! We met the caretaker Jessie who was also very friendly. Highly recommend!!!

How lucky were we to discover this magical house and place! Tucked away down a dirt/stony road (better to have a car with some clearance), it looks out over the water, as pictured in the listing, and was just what we needed to recharge and feel connected with nature.
The house itself had a real presence, you could feel the love for the owner's father with his watercolor paintings everywhere, as well as the delightful features that were designed/built by him, as mentioned by other reviewers (such as hidden doors and a peek-a-boo window opening from a bedroom). The house absolutely fit the property/place (and was beautifully stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen, as well as towels/sheets and comfortable beds), and each day the birds and squirrels put on a show for us at the feeder on the front deck.
I wish we could have stayed longer, but we will be back for sure! Ray could not have been more responsive, which was much appreciated.

We loved this place. The view was beautiful and relaxing. The way the cottage was set up and decorated was perfect. I was perfectly content to just stay there when not visiting or enjoying the island. I hope to have the opportunity to stay there again!

This was my second (but not last) stay at this property. This home is accommodating, comfortable and has a great vibe with spectacular views. Thank you, Ray, for another awesome visit!

We loved the home itself and the location couldn’t have been better. We were disappointed that the kayaks were not easy to get to and would have to had been cleaned to use. We decided it was too much work and the water was rough from the wind.
Overall we would definitely stay again if available during a future trip

This house is a little gem nestled on a quiet road. Fill the bird feeder, sit back, and be transported by the view to a state of bliss. The house is well equipped and the owner is very responsive to any questions.

We had to ride on the margins of the dirt road bc of the tall center strip scraping the bottom of my Prius V no matter how slowly I drove. Consequently I have numerous scratches that are new on the sides of the car. If the owner snd neighbors got together to grade the dirt road in a regular basis this large problem could be amended. Thnx!

Lovely spot. The kayaking was superb. The layout is very smart with the two bedrooms separate from each other. There are views from everywhere. The kitchen is well stocked. It’s perfect for 2 couples and a few children. We would rent again.

Great house on the water. Woke up every morning enjoying coffee overlooking the water. Great location, easy to all towns. We were able to enjoy kayaking and fishing. We had a great trip and this house allowed us to enjoy it even more.

We so enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous waterside property. The place has so much charm, such a lot of beautiful art and a real sense of personality. Ray was excellent at communicating, and very helpful when we missed our ferry and arrived late due to a broken-down car! We loved the peace and quiet, and the sound of the birds. We were thrilled to have use of the kayaks and bikes, as well as the buckets and spades for the beach! A really wonderful place for a family stay.

We had a wonderful time for our 40th anniversary. Location was perfect, and we loved kayaking in lagoon pond. It was really nice and relaxing to be able to come back to the house midday after an outing, and relax on the deck and look out over the pond. Would definitely recommend
