Girls trip, 7 total. Great location, on the beach, with a 3- 5 minute access to swim. Pool was always clean and used daily when we were home. Emilia was also great arranging transportation to our requested destinations and roundtrip airport transfers. We did have one minor miscommunication but all was resolved. We did notice a few minor details of home that could be remedied. For example, rusted closed lock on sliding door to master, by pool. Upstairs queen master shower head fell off when adjusted. We were able to adjust to another door and replaced shower head to use. Othrwise, all was extremely clean, Accommodating and super comfortable. Would highly recommend and would definately stay again. Wildlidlfe at thisnhouse is also amazing with hundreds of butterflies, several iguanas, birds, hermit crabs and monkies. What a spectacular stay!!

Great location to playa negra surf spot, which was our original goal. Nice and quiet location, besides a few howler monkeys. The house was as advertised and had an amazing pool!

We just had a great week at Casa Nirvana, you can’t get much better then the location. The back yard is perfect to kick back and relax and soak up the sun and beautiful view. Inside is spacious and beautiful, as well as very comfortable for a group our size.
There were 5 couples total and everyone could not have been more stoked.
Emilia the property manager makes things as easy peasy as possible, anything you need at all just let her know. Super sweet and responds quickly.
We will be back!!!

Emi gave us fun helpful recommendations
Spacious, interesting house with NICE pool

This was a perfect home for our family of 6 - ages ranging from 8 years old to 14 years old. We loved the location - off the beaten path and somewhat secluded. We often had the entire beach to ourselves. The infinity pool was picturesque and always the perfect temperature. The majority of the trip, there were howler monkeys in the mango tree right by the pool. It was awesome! Emilia was extremely helpful in coordinating activities and helping with any questions about the house. Overall, 10 out of 10 and would certainly recommend!

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The beach was steps away and the infinity pool underneath a tree of howler monkeys was super cool. Too far from the cloud forest (for us at least) but we did a cool hike, ATV tour, zip-lines, fishing, etc. I heard seeing the sloths was over-rated anyway…
The house manager was super nice and close by.
a couple really good restaurants nearby including Jalepenos for quick and simple but tasty breakfast and lunch and Mycelium was awesome (we like food)… you have to take your shoes off. Nothing is cheap in Costa Rica.
The bathroom situation in Costa Rica is interesting as the septic systems are apparently quite weak. That’s not specific to this house but to most of the country apparently.
Would stay again!

2 Moms and 3 teen boys spent a wonderful week at Villa Caramar. Do: Rent a 4x4. Make surf lessons with Javier at Paragos Adventures. Eat dinner at Mycelium, Villa Deveena, Cafe Playa Negra Hotel. Order the banana pancakes at Jalapenos. Order the avocado toast at the Hotel Playa Negra restaurant. Eat pizza from La Vida Buena (great thin crust). Have Emilia cook breakfast or dinner (chicken curry was a HUGE hit!!). Have Emilia arrange an in-house massage for you. Walk down to the beach for AMAZING sunset views. Arrange a private boat charter with Ocean Life Costa Rica out of Playa Flamingo. It was hands-down the highlight of our week. Zipline with Black Stallion Eco Park in Tamarindo. Ride ATV’s with 506 transfers and tours in Tamarindo. Don’t: Exchange money. Everywhere takes USD and/or cc’s. Thank you Jon for sharing your amazing house with us. Emilia is a TREASURE and will help you with stocking the house with groceries, making reservations for dinner, transportation, massages etc. A/C works great. Each bedroom and main rooms are individually controlled. The house has a small gym. The house has board games, books, beach towels, pool toys/floats. Bring soap for the showers, shampoo/conditioner with you. There are crabs and hermit crabs everywhere, sometimes in the house! (was fun to catch and release!) We didn’t cook much but the kitchen is well-stocked.

We stayed here for the week of our wedding with 8 of our closest friends, so we were already beyond excited to begin with but WOW, our stay exceeded our expectations!
We had such a good time lounging in the pool, playing games, and walking to and from Negra. I can’t express how great of a location the property is. Negra is such a quick and easy walk with the surf break and restaurant and sandy beach in between for surf lessons and swimming. We had a blast.
And EMILIA is an absolute star!! She cooked two incredible meals for us and helped us sort out some details of our trip. She’s so helpful and there right away when we had a question.
The space is amazing, we weren’t aware the master bedroom had such an insane view of the creek and trees with the ocean backdrop. We were blown away.
Highly recommend, we’d love to stay here again!

We stayed as a family of 10, 8 adults and 2 small children. The house is spacious and open with more than enough rooms and space for everyone. The roads are super bumpy leading up to the house (you know you’re getting close the more wild the road gets haha!)
Emilia was AMAZING, as were Maria and outdoor gentleman. We had breakfasts for the week and almost all dinners done by Emilia. We have a vegan and vegetarians in our group and we all absolutely loved everything.
The views are stunning, ocean right in the backyard. Little to no walk!
The stairs and overheard bridge indoors made me nervous with the kids (ages 4 and 2) but we kept a close eye on them and chose the rooms downstairs for us.
We had a fantastic stay!

Our family of 10 including 6 teenagers had a wonderful time here. Emilia was fantastic and the relaxing atmosphere of playa negra is fantastic and true pura vida.

I cannot say enough about the location of this house. We expected a further walk from the house to the beach, NOPE, it’s in the backyard. All rooms are huge. We weren’t sure which rooms had a private baths so here’s a breakdown. Upstairs queen with private bath, king and queen room have a jack n’ Jill bath, two kings downstairs have semi private baths, not in bedroom but across the hall and another half bath by the garage door. We spent time in the house cooking and the only recommendation I would give t on the property is to fix/upgrade the appliances, specifically the stove. Tried to bake my sons birthday cake and the oven wouldn’t work except broil. The property manager and staff were amazing and super helpful. Would absolutely stay there again. And 4wheel drive is a must!!!! We had rain and the dirt roads were flooded.

Our family had a great time relaxing at this big, beautiful house. We loved the infinity pool and the sight and sound of the crashing waves below. Emilia was great and took care of us any time we needed her! We thought the best local restaurant was Cafe Playa Negra, and also loved Guacamaya and Lola’s! I hope we get to come back here some day!

Beautiful. Emilia the property manger is incredibly helpful. Be prepared with 35 minute drive on y paved road. We were prepared and rented a larger 4x4 Prado Toyota Land Cruiser. An incredible location.

Consistent with previous reviews, this property is quite extraordinary. The home is contemporary in its design—quite unique for the area. It’s spacious and easily accommodated our family of three couples and two children, ages four and two. The kitchen is well stocked for home cooking, including outdoor seating and a grill. And the pool overlooking the ocean is warm and offers beautiful nightly sunsets, each seeming to outdo the previous. There are plenty of lounges and chairs and accumulated pool toys. We added to them and bought beach chairs, which we left the next guests to enjoy. The pool has a shallow end which our kids frolicked in every day.
Emilia, the house manager and chef is the best! Friendly, communicative, knowledgeable and eager to help in any way. She did a pre-grocery shop for us and prepared several delicious dinners and breakfasts. The local tuna and fresh fruit were highlights. Emilia also suggested local restaurants and made reservations for us. There are plenty of local options none more than 15-20 minutes away and all offer outdoor dining. For breakfast we enjoyed Lola’s, Corazon Surf Cafe and especially SoulShine. Their Shack-Shoo-Ka served with fresh baked challah was quite special. For dinner we enjoyed the local Cafe Playa Negra and Deevena for French cuisine. And the kids couldn’t get enough of the local fruit drinks.
There are several well-stocked local markets and a large Auto Mercado in Tamarindo. The house provides bottled water. Maria, the housekeeper is also wonderful and is available daily. We used her every other day. She also did the kids laundry every couple of days.
Others have mentioned the dirt roads. We found them not to be a problem or challenge. Google maps gets you to the home and anywhere you need to go.
The long inviting beach, with its soft waves were ideal for the kids and a little further out perfect for boogie boarding and surfing. We brought with us a large shade tent, to provide some respite from the winter sun and warm temperatures.
Communication with Jon the host was easy and direct. At some point we will surely return and have already recommended the house to several friends.

We had a wonderful time at this property! The pool is simply incredible with it's view of the ocean and sunsets. My kids loved how deep it was and the adults loved that there was a bench for relaxing.
Our kids were constantly busy with playing at the beach, exploring nature on the property, catching geckos, and even wifi for some quiet time at night.
We were thankful for the house manager answering all of our questions, cooking, and stocking the house with groceries.
The only negative were the roads. They were pretty rough in spots because it was the end of the rainy season. Not a huge deal though.
We would definitely want to go back again. Thanks so much for a fantastic time!

The property was beautiful and accommodated two families with plenty of extra room. The infinity pool made the views extraordinary. Everything was clean and the property manager helped with all of the details for the week. We will definitely come back.

We just returned from our 7 day stay at this most amazing and incredible home. I say home because it's more than a house. You can tell the owners still care for this home as thier home and it's not just a revenue stream.
We decided on this property because of the amazing location right on Playa Negra beach and because the size of the house and layout were perfect for our group. We were celebrating a 50th Birtday so we had both family and friends present that flew in from the US, and the Carribean Islands.
This home is exraordinary. The 5 bedrooms are huge, the bathrooms and awesome, and the outdoor shower in the Master Bedroom is to DIE FOR! The are 3 separate living areas so our group was always able to have thier own space whenever they wanted.
The pool area, simply awesome! The views from the pool overlooking the beach are breathtaking. We were most surprised by how large the pool is. The pictures don't do it justice. Oh and its DEEP TOO! we think it was about 9 feet deep at the deep end. The outdoor cooking area and large outdoor dining table made it so practical for cookouts!
Then there is the staff! Emilia is PHENOMENAL.. She was avialable ALWAYS and was incredibly responsive to ANYTHING that we asked no matter how large or small. She is an amazing asset to this property.
Maria the housekeeper was fantastic too! She even did our laundry! WOW!
Finally there is Jon. He was so incredibly responsive and understanding. We had some last minute needs and he was incredibly accomodating. THANK YOU!
Can't wait to get back!!!
We simply cannot say enough about our stay here. It is among our all time favorite places that we ever stayed! We cannot wait to come back!

Be prepared for a trek to get to the house and it is worth it!! This phenomenal property is incredible! The house manager, Emilia, is a wonderful asset. We loved getting to know her! The pool overlooking the Pacific is a view like no other! Paradise! My advice would be to definitely fly in to Liberia for a shorter drive to the property. We hope to return some day!!

We had a great stay. The manager Emilia was so helpful by setup a fishing trip and horseback riding. We felt so taken care of. The housekeeper was amazing and kind. We will definitely be back.

We had a great vacation week! The home was a wonderful landing spot for us. Given that the home is off the beaten path, we were surprised by the number and high quality of local food options.

Incredible location. Property description needs updating as bathroom outlines for bedrooms are not accurate.
Throughout our time at this house various work was being done. It’s understandable that maintenance needs to be conducted in an ongoing manner, however; would have expected more notable repairs to have been completed prior to arrival. For example the AC unit did not work in the master bed room for first 4 days of our visit.
Property would benefit from a little tender loving care.
