About this cottage rental
You will fall in love with this charming heritage gatehouse, completely modernised and ideal for three couples ... but can comfortably sleep up to ten people. Set in sunny private gardens on the picturesque Eridge Park Road in Burradoo just 5 minutes drive from Bowral township, Eridge Lodge combines the quiet and peace of the countryside with the convenience of local shops and villages.
Like many of the historical buildings in Bowral, the Lodge dates back to around the 1880's when the area had become a retreat for prominent Sydney families and is regarded as one of the finest Australian examples of Gothic gate lodges. The original cottage has been doubled in size and now comfortably sleeps 10 guests with spacious living and cooking areas in the new section. Quaint details like the undersized door, the window seat and the tiny lighting alcove remain, but it now has the functionality of a modern home. Nestled between the renowned Moidart Gardens and the historic grounds of Hartzer Park Monastery, your outlook is both picturesque and peaceful.
General:
The cottage is available for domestic holiday rental only
The cottage accommodation comprises 3 bedrooms (2 king and 1 queen bed) and three ensuite bathrooms. With its old world charm and warm natural colours, the cottage is instantly welcoming and relaxing. And in winter the wood burning fireplace creates a cosy escape from the outside world.
The modern kitchen has gas oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, walk-in pantry and all the necessary appliances for an easy, relaxed visit. There is also a washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board available.
Entertainment options include a large plasma television and a DVD/CD player along with an ipod connector.
We have three bedrooms in the house - 2 queen bedrooms and 1 king bedroom each with wardrobes, sitting areas and ensuite. Each of the sitting areas includes a sofa bed for extra guests. The third bedroom is made up with a queen sized bed and wardrobe. Two of the bedrooms have flat screen televisions. Modern bathrooms offer all conveniences, two with full baths. Unfortunately due to insurance we do not provide portable cots, clients are asked to supply their own cot.
The upstairs area features reverse cycle air conditioning and in the cooler months the cottage has the choice of wood fire or electric heating.
Under cover parking is available for 4 cars.
Local restaurant menus and information guides and suggestions are included in the guest arrival kit for those wishing to explore the local area.

Bowral and Surrounds
Bowral has always been a fashionable holiday destination for Sydneysiders because of its combination of rural charm and comfortable facilities. The town's stunning private gardens, part of grand old estates, are a delight in spring and autumn when they are open to the public. Spring and Summer are quite spectacular due to the many cool climate English style gardens. Bowral is a great place to shop for antiques, home wares, jewellery, arts and crafts. The Sir Donald Bradman Oval is one of the sacred sites of cricket and is well worth a visit.
Bowral History
The Bowral area was first explored by Europeans in 1798, in the very early days of Australia's European settlement. Expeditions to the area continued over the next 20 years, as the hunt was on for new grazing grounds outside Sydney.
The arrival of the railway in the 1860s encouraged development in the area and Bowral was proclaimed a town in 1863. In the early days, wealthy Sydneysiders built grand country homes with English-style gardens so they could enjoy the cool climate. Today, many of these homes survive, allowing new generations of visitors to enjoy the area.

We were a group of 5 adults attending a wedding close by. The house is spacious and comfortable in a central location to the area. The house has been renovated and finished with no expense spared. Beds were comfortable with plenty of choice of linen to suit all personal needs. Totally loved out stay.

The property is absolutely beautiful. The house is very spacious with many sitting areas and an ensuite for each of the 3 bedrooms. Everything was very clean and the beds are really comfortable. Loved waking up to the sound of birds and even saw a few rabbits on the property. It was also good to have undercover parking. The kitchen is large and great for cooking for a group. The wood fire was lovely on the cold winter nights and there was ample seating on the comfortable lounge. The communication with the owner was excellent. The property was a quick 5 minute drive to the main shops in Bowral and also a short drive to fanatstic walks near Bundanoon. Loved this property and hope to stay again soon.

We are a family of 7 who travelled down from Sydney for the long Anzac Day weekend. The house was very spacious with lots of room for us all. Highlight was playing games and watching television round the fireplace in the evening.
House was easy to find, and well located within reasonable driving distance of everywhere we wanted to go.

Thanks Jane for sharing your place with us. We had a wonderful time. We loved the 3 separate rooms for our guests. Each with a bathroom and space to relax. The fire place was great too. Kept us warm and toasty. Great kitchen space too.

The stay was very relaxing and accommodating for all our needs.
And the property manager was very helpful

Very comfortable home with character. Perfect getaway for a group of 6 friends.

The two bedrooms upstairs are not the easiest to get to - we were all in our 70's to 80's and the stairs were not the best to negotiate especially for those with bad knees. Perhaps this should be better emphasised on the site. The other problem was that some of the kitchen cupboards were not the cleanest and the same with the fridge (especially the freezer section). There were also some crockery items that were not clean. Even though it was New Year the weather was quite cool and the wood fire was fantastic. The setting and area that this was in was idyllic and in an ideal area to get to other areas of interest.

Everything about the house itself and grounds it sits in was lovely. So much space. Luckily a downstairs bedroom to accomodate elderly relative.
The location opposite playing fields with the traffic that generated meant a noisy and earlier start than planned on Saturday. Other than that a very pleasant place for a weekend away with extended family.

We had a lovely stay in Eridge House. A great spot to gather with friends. The house was lovely and we enjoyed our evenings in front of the fire. The layout of the house is fantastic as each of the 3 couples had their own area and ensuite. We will be back.

Perfect location, great for 5 older people (mid 60’s) with lots of get up and go. It was extra cold weekend but the fire was beautiful. Loved touring the Southern Highlands and walking at Fitzroy Falls. Great lunch at Bendooleys Book Barn Berrima

Everything as great as the photos
Our group were at the accommodation for 95% of our stay
The lamps could have had working light bulbs in them and the kitchen a bit better stocked with glad wrap foil etc and maybe the oven a bit cleaner. But these things whilst A little frustrating did not take away from our enjoyment of the whole place. We will be back for sure. Thankyou

5 adults from the same family recently stayed for two nights while attending a wedding. This house was delightful and we could have stayed much longer. The decor was appropriate and the house itself, so unusual with its many stairways and corridors and delightful attic rooms with lead-light windows! Everything we needed was there including a separate garage! Perfect!

Property is older and access to top rooms very awkward fo any one elderly with bathrooms awkward access as well.
Property was quaint, fireplace nice and kitchen living area good. Nice yard and big 4 car garage. Cleaners need to lift their standard a bit.

We rented this house as our son was getting married in Glenquarry. It accommodated our group well. Each bedroom has an ensuite with an additional toilet near the lounge area. Grounds were lovely and maintained. We cooked several meals there and the kitchen was equipped. Undercover parking for four cars. Would stay again.

Eridge Lodge certainly ranks very highly in the places we've stayed. The property is well located, the house is unique and quite large, the bed is comfortable as is the lounge sofa, everything was clean and all necessary amenities provided, a real home away from home. We would highly recommend

We stayed as 3 couples and 1 toddler for a local wedding. The location was a short drive to downtown Bowral for food and drinks. The property has lots of grass for kids to run around and kick a ball. The house is very spacious with plenty of beds and bathrooms. All additional items were there in the house - coffee maker, hair dryer etc. We were very comfortable and would hire again if we had another wedding down this way.
