About this house rental
Named after its first inhabitants – a momma robin and her babies nesting in the roof’s rafters during the initial phase of the remodel - Robin’s Nest is a gorgeous year-round home in the Southern Adirondacks. Approximately 1 block from the lake, Robin's Nest is in a quiet neighborhood on a street with sweet cottages and camps, in the heart of the sleepy, tiny and rustic village of Caroga. Our home offers guests the use of a small, shared beach with on West Caroga Lake which is just a block away.
Robin's Nest was recently lovingly restored with an eye toward preserving its old country charm, while furnishing it with all the benefits and comforts of modern day amenities.
Robin’s Nest features a great room, pool table, bar, wine fridge, a spacious stone patio, large yard with picnic tables and Adirondack Chairs around a fire pit for star gazing.
Our home sleeps 7 people comfortably in three charming bedrooms, and in a pinch, 2 more could sleep on the pullout, queen-sized sofa bed couch in the Great Room. Linens are not included (you provide your own sheets, pillowcases and towels)
Completely renovated from the ground up, Robin’s Nest is equipped with all new electrical and plumbing systems, high speed, wireless internet, a 50 inch flat screen TV in the Great Room and another flat screen TV in the upstairs master bedroom. It also has state of the art, stainless steel appliances in its gourmet kitchen. Although our home does not have a microwave, for your convenience, it does have a toaster oven.
Robin's Nest detailed woodwork includes hand-laid pine walls and gun smoke hickory and acacia hardwood flooring throughout. Over sized sliding glass doors provide easy access to the side and back yards and the flagstone patio. When combined with contemporary window walls in the Great Room and multi-paned windows and high ceilings throughout the house, plenty of light floods and warms the house.
The Great Room alone has a multitude of windows. Gorgeous copper fans hang from the “cathedral” ceilings in the Great Room and high-powered ceiling fans hang in each bedroom, while cast iron gas stoves in the Great Room and breakfast nook provide an abundance of warmth and comfort during the cold, winter months.
The private, largely fenced in back yard offers two, wooden picnic tables, a gas grill and outdoor fire pit and a flagstone patio. Adirondack chairs offer places to relax, share stories and gaze at the night sky and stars. Native trees and plants, including crab apple trees, lilac bushes and a black raspberry patch make up the landscape and a private driveway provides for parking for 3 to 4 vehicles.
The Great Room provides something for everyone. Those who want to relax, can curl up with a book in the soft leather recliner or on the large, plush sectional sofa to stare out one of the many windows, watch their favorite movie or sporting event on the 50 inch, flat screen, SMART LG television (with Cable TV, a DVD and VCR player, and high speed wireless internet) or, they might simply watch the fire dance in the cast-iron, gas stove fireplace. Others might shoot a round of pool on the wooden, claw footed, felt-covered pool table, or sip on a drink from the wine fridge, while sitting at the beautiful built –in wood bar (featuring a classic bowling alley lane counter-top) and chatting over the bar with whoever might happen to be standing in the kitchen on the other side.
Robin’s Nest’s kitchen features a downdraft gas stove, refrigerator with ice maker, a dishwasher, country sink basin, and customized, hand-crafted, shabby chic kitchen cabinets and shelving, and a country cupboard that serves as a pantry. The kitchen is well stocked with every item you might find in your own home, and then some. It is fully equipped with a coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, teapot and recycling bins. Again, although we do not have a microwave, we do have a toaster oven for your convenience.
The dining area’s solid wood table seats 6 to 8 comfortably, and opens up to the backyard and stone patio through the large, sliding glass doors. The breakfast nook seats another 8, if you add the expansion leaf to the table, and looks out on the front-yard through the charming bay window. Attractive glassware and china are found in the antique wooden hutch housed in the dining area and on the kitchen shelving.
The three bedrooms each offer their own unique charm. All of the rooms have ceiling fans and blinds for maximum control of the light and new, firm mattresses with waterproof, hypoallergenic mattress covers on each. You provide your own linens.
Every bedroom is furnished with its own antique beds, bedside tables, reading lamps, dressers, armoires and/or accessories. Each bed is covered with charming, country, shabby chic quilts, organic cotton blankets and pillows of all shapes and sizes. You provide sheets, pillowcases and towels.
The large master bedroom, on the second floor is north facing. It affords guests sideviews of West Caroga Lake out of its large multi-paned window. The twin room is also on the second floor, and faces south. It holds a large wooden bunk bed with two twin mattresses and bunkies– one set on the top bunk and one on the bottom. The queen-sized sofa-bed couch in the Great Room can also sleep 2 extra people in a pinch.
The large, full-sized downstairs bathroom features a rain shower and a tub, toilet, a country sink, faucet and vanity, a chrome mirror and amenities, lantern lights, wooden tile floor and a vintage barn door.
The upstairs bathroom features much of the same, but is a smaller, three-quarter bathroom with a nice-sized shower, vertical subway tile walls and a solid, glass door, a sink and toilet.
About a block away, lies West Caroga Lake (just out the front door, quick right and quick left), and Robin’s Nest deeded rights to a small, shared beach perfect for relaxing and swimming. The waterfront is shallow and hard-bottomed.
Just down Route 10East, at the junction of East and West Caroga Lake is a small marina where you could launch your own small boat or jet ski for a nominal fee, or rent a pontoon boat for a day of fishing or relaxing in the sun.
Outdoor activities span the seasons with swimming, boating, fishing, waterskiing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, ice fishing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing all available locally.

Caroga Lake is very peaceful and quiet. The kitchen at Robin's Nest is well stocked with appliances and utensils except for a working microwave. The chairs and seats are comfortable and the yard is a nice place to relax with chairs and picnic tables.
The house comes with descriptions of local hikes, which is very helpful, since our hiking book of the Adirondack Mountains contained only one of the local hikes that came with Robin's Nest. We did not see the interesting books under the coffee table until the last day. The books included a local history book and a plant identification book.
Robin's Nest is a short walk from the lakeshore and from the Caroga Lake Music Festival at Sherman Park. This was an enjoyable experience listening to an hour of excellent music.
Bringing your own linens and bath towels was a minor inconvenience.

Robin’s Nest was the perfect spot to catch up with family at Caroga Lake. We were able to have the whole family over for dinner and a BBQ in the beautifully landscaped backyard. We made good use of the pool table on our one rainy night. It was a wonderful surprise to find 5 bicycles and 3 stand-up paddle boards. The distance to the beach was fantastic. We were able to go back and forth easily. We will definitely stay again in the future!

Very happy with the home and location, look forward to going back.

Mid- June at Caroga is beautiful with fragrant, wild rose bushes in full bloom, but notoriously rains every day!
Robin's Nest solved the problem of keeping all of us occupied indoors: My parents and I spent much of our time in the Beautiful kitchen! We loved the view of the outdoors from MANY windows. Kitchen opens to the long family room and both cozy dining rooms. The large, upstairs bedroom has a window with sunset views and a glimpse of West Caroga lake and the carousel.
Games, toys, and fun "please touch" museum-type pieces nestle around the house just waiting to be discovered.
The kids enjoyed the TV and pool-table, or, the water toys for paddling in both Caroga Lakes between showers (lake water felt too cold for swimming.)Their cousin came up one day and hiked with them up Kain Mtn.
Downsides: we would have appreciated more written instruction on the strict, local recycle rules, and on how to use (and not to use) water at camp. We had to scrub stuck-on food from some kitchen pans before we could use them, and a few wobbling dining chairs needed replacement or repair.
Yet, whenever we had questions or issues, the management replied kindly and promptly!
Robin's Nest is a "Mary Poppins bag" of anything needed for a practically-perfect stay. My son said to give it a 10 star out of 5! :)
Thank you!!

Robin's Nest was a perfect house & location for our family vacation. My young grandchildren loved it. Big back yard, firepit, close to the beach, concerts & very friendly. The house was great, roomy & had everything we needed. It has a nice community feel yet private & quiet. We had a great time.

Exactly as described. Beautiful place, excellent location.
Beautiful home. Excellent communication with the owner. Super clean. Super comfortable. A block from the lake. We had a wonderful stay.

This property was beautifully renovated and very well designed
ThIs property could accommodate many family members and is steps from the lake. We rented a pontoon while there and really enjoyed the lakes and fishing. One of the nicest and largest (well kept) rentals on the lake.

This is our second time in Robin's nest. WE love the place, the house, the area, the people. Everything. So it was a little disappointing when we saw that the floors and carpets were absolutely filthy. It wasn't enough to ruin the stay. We had a good time and will be coming back, hopefully. But next time, we hope for a cleaner house.

Initially thought it was very easy, received a prompt reply, only to be told later that we did not have it as someone else had already rented it. Then told that yes we could have it. It was just a bit confusing and stressful.

Such a cozy place. Kept us warm as we were hit with the very large storm this past week. It was super fun playing in the aftermath though! We needed a home to stay in while we were managing a property we purchased on a nearby lake. The area is beautiful. Lots to do and you can’t go wrong. Renter note: there is no laundry facility in the home and linens aren’t provided. We were informed of this after booking. This didn’t deter us and the house was great, but it would have been nice to pack much less than we had to.

Great house cozy comfy and nearby everything
Really nice house we had a great family weekend it’s nearby everything it has every amenity you can ask for it was warm it was cozy it was winter and that’s exactly what we are looking for!

A lovely place!
My family and I had a great time at Robin's nest in January. It is very remote, next to a lake (people were ice fishing on it!!) and far away from the city bustle. The house was very clean, comfortable, well decorated and just generally fun. We had a lovely time and will try to come back. One minor downside, the food sources are not what you'd expect if coming from a big town, so plan accordingly.

Great Accomodations
We enjoyed our stay at Robin's Nest. Everything was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Thanks!

Lovely vacation experience!
I brought my husband, 19 year old son and my in-laws to this house for a short vacation and we had a wonderful time! The first floor bedroom was perfect for my elderly in-laws, and the nearby beach is sandy and you can walk into the lake - not jumping off a pier! The house is up to date and comfortable with really traditional touches and we just really enjoyed it. Loved the lake! The three of us rented kayaks and had a great time paddling the lake. Overall a terrific vacation. I hope tomgo back someday!

Great Cozy Retreat!
I rented this cabin with my friends from high school as we all collectively celebrated our 50th birthdays. Robin's Nest was perfect for us! So clean, so comfortable and plenty to do in the cabin or nearby if you are looking for more adventure. But, our group was so happy to just hang out at the cabin and enjoy each others' company. Great backyard and grill area, comfortable living room, kitchen has everything you need. We picked the perfect place for our reunion!

Summer week of fun
Very impressed with the house as soon as we arrived. Exactly like the pictures. House was clean and spacious. The well stocked kitchen has everything you need to make meals in if you want. Really nice propane grill in the yard to use also. We stayed during a rare heatwave of hot and humid weather and being used to having central air in our own house, the first night was rough. We quickly adapted and got use to just the fans. Having the lake a two minute walk away made it all worth it. I would highly recommend this vacation home in a beautiful part of the adirondacks.

Excellent
This was in part a "retro" stay for me, having spent my youth in a true "camp" (read outhouse and well) at Caroga Lake, not on the water. This was the first time I'd been in the lake since the mid-1950's. Robin's Nest was everything I expected; it had all I wanted, and more. Relatives with young children joined us for the day on Sunday, having just left Saratoga Lake. When I got them in Caroga Lake water, they couldn't believe it. They said, "Uncle Ed, this sand is GREAT! All we had at Saratoga Lake was weeds and rocks!" They were MUCH favorably impressed.

Quality home, GREAT mattresses, steps to the lake
Beautiful home, well kept and well appointed for guests’ comfort. The owners obviously take great pride in and care of their home. Great mattresses for a good, good nights sleep! Pool table was a big hit for us! So close to the lake that families with kids should love the short walk and amusement rides.

Rustic and perfect spot for a winter holiday
We adored every part of this rustic home. From the open area family room with pool table and assortment of DVDs, to the kitchen-dining area with a space to play games at the table near the stove.
Also, very cozy and warm. With sub-zero temps outside when we stayed, we were surprised at how the upstairs rooms stayed warm. Not really need to turn those wall units on very much.
We loved it so much we quickly checked for dates in the summer when we would be in town so that we could return. But alas, it was booked! We will definitely be back.
Note: no microwave in the kitchen. We were fine without it, but prospective renters might want to plan for it.

Wonderful camp!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Robin's Nest. The camp was beautifully decorated and felt very comfortable. It was bigger than I was anticipating which was a pleasant surprise. The home was cleaned and well-stocked with the essentials when we arrived. It is very close to the beach - a minute walk. My kids loved the paddle boards and kayak. We enjoyed camp fires in the evening as well. A great place to stay!

Am amazing house! We were charmed by the cute decoration and whole personality of the property.

This property worked great for us. We had the best ski day at Royal Mountain, great for family's. Our 4yr finally got it here and by the end of the day was skiing from the summit. We where also able to enjoy a day in Cooperstown!
The house was very comfortable and clean. My wife lived the layout and decorating. Really a great place. We would definitely stay here again

Great house. Perfect little getaway.
Aimee, we had a wonderful time at Robin's Nest. It was perfect for our family. The house is very charming- everything was clean and well kept. Anytime I had a question, you were incredibly responsive. Caroga Lake is just a 30 second walk from the house. The other lakes in the area are beautiful. We made smores every night in the backyard. Thank you for everything!

Charm is everywhere you can look
This house is large and spacious. It is comfortable and nestled on a quiet street. The kitchen is workable. Both the inside and the outside of the house are lovely. One almost feels as if one is home. I have no complaints. (There is an issue with water--but this is because it is a lake community. One must be conscientious and very much aware of water-use.) The lake is beautiful, the people you will meet on your walks are friendly. Charm is everywhere you can look.
