About this cottage rental
Greet the sunrise with morning coffee on the screen porch as you watch the cows graze in the surrounding fields. Enjoy a lovely walk down through the woods to picturesque Toddy Pond for a swim and kayak, followed by an afternoon nap in the hammock. In the evening relax around the fire pit as fireflies, crickets, loons and owls take the stage. With no competing lights, the stars are the brightest you've ever seen.
Originally built in the 1800's and renovated in the last decade, the farm stay cottage is a charming mix of old and new. A beautiful screen porch with wooden rockers faces east and captures the morning sun perfectly. The kitchen is small and quaint with new appliances installed in 2020. South and West facing windows wrap around the main room letting in sunlight, summer breezes, and a stunning view of Toddy Pond and the Camden Hills beyond. On chilly fall and winter days, a cozy wood stove makes you want to snuggle into the window seats, nap in the sun, and never leave. The first floor master bedroom has southern and western windows that wrap around opening to the farm fields and surrounding apple trees. A lovely (and steep) little stairwell takes you up to two sweet bedrooms, a second full bath, and an adorable sleeping nook.
A sun dappled wooded path takes you down to the waters edge. Toddy Pond, more of a small lake than a pond, is quiet and serene. The farm's property includes over a mile of water frontage. The water is lovely for swimming and the four kayaks are perfect for fishing and exploring the pond and several small islands. Nesting loons and bald eagles are always a delight to see and hear on the pond. There is excellent smallmouth bass fishing as well.
The farm offers 500+ private acres. There are several trails to walk or mountain bike, as well as a small farm pond that hosts heaps of frogs, turtles and such. The fields and woodlands offer much to explore and experience from bird watching, play, and quiet reflection.
The cottage is within sight of Toddy Pond Farm, but has total privacy.
Summer guests with kiddos who would enjoy more hands on farm time are welcome to enroll their kids in our farm camp. Info can be found on our website. TBD for 2024.

Really hard to give an honest review since this is the place I’ve been searching for years and don’t want others there! It’s a camp so think glamping. No internet. No microwave. I felt like I was back in the 90s. It was heaven.

Farmhouse was the getaway we all needed. Place was clean and spacious. Everything you need to make your stay memorable is there. Local markets are stocked for anything you might have forgot. Location was secluded but not far from idea locations that Maine has to offer. Bar Harbor short drive away, visited Belfast waterfront. Went to my personal favorite Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound for my large whole Lobster. If you're there for the weekend i would recommend to make reservations to the farms restaurant. Live music, friendly staff, and awesome food, something you wouldn't want to miss. Can't forget Gilley and Birdie, the farm dogs that welcomes you at the door. Again this was a great family vacation

Our extended family of 7 had a wonderful stay at Toddy Pond Farm! The cottage is simple but comfortable and spacious— a wonderful way to unplug and enjoy Maine. Swimming and kayaking in Toddy Pond is just a short walk away down the trail. Being able to visit (and enjoy a delicious meal at) Greg and Heide’s farm is a terrific bonus. (Definitely be sure to book a table at their restaurant ahead of time!) This is a great option for people who want to explore beyond the more touristy towns of Midcoast Maine. Thank you, Greg and Heide for a truly special week!

Overall very good. Family enjoyed the farm tour, short walk to pond which is very scenic, peaceful and quiet, seeing and hearing the call of the loons, kayaking, swimming, paddleboat, fire pit, cook outs with charcoal grill, scenic views, nature, birds, cows, pigs, Friday evening farm dinner, and close to grocery store, lakes, ocean and area towns and attractions. One tip, take along some fans at the peak of summer, cottage does get hot upstairs during the day.

We loved our stay at Toddy Pond. Greg and Heide were amazing hosts. The house sits on a hill with a great view and it’s own path to Toddy Pond for boating, fishing and swimming. Our family partook in all three. It’s an easy drive to Belfast for the farmer’s market, Young’s Lobster Pound, and a brewery or two. Enjoy.

We loved our stay at Toddy Pond. The house was perfect for our group of 9, which included 5 under 4. The kids loved visiting the animals every day and playing with the farm pups! Greg and Heidi were more than accommodating and helped us plan our outings for the week. We thoroughly enjoyed the farm dinners and they were easily one of the highlights of the trip! If you are looking for a place to disconnect and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life, this is the place for you!

Very nice house, very clean, perfect location for our family get-together. We would love to return when the farm store is open and when it is warm enough to swim and kayak on the pond.

My husband, our three kids, and our dog stayed at Toddy Pond Farm for a week in July. We have nothing but positive things to say about this lovely cottage, picturesque working farm, and the busy and gracious owners (Greg and Heide), who generously share their home with vacationers.
The Cottage:
Well supplied and roomier and even more lovely than VRBO pictures depict. Bedrooms & bathrooms were charming and cozy. The upstairs sleeping nook was a huge hit for all in our family. We enjoyed the fire pit. IMO the best seat in the whole cottage was on the screened-in front porch. We enjoyed the rockers and the cool evening breeze immensely. The views from the cottage were amazing. We enjoyed hiking around the property every day.
The Pond:
The was a good 10 to 15 minute walk through the woods from the cottage. Our kids enjoyed fishing and swimming out to the swim dock. We had access to the new paddleboat, kayaks, and canoe for the duration of our stay. The water was refreshing and clear and sunfish were abundant.
The Farm, Farm Camp and Farm Store:
My kids loved loved loved visiting the farm animals every day. They got to interact with the baby cows, ewes and lambs, the baby pigs, and ducklings. We enjoyed saving our meal scraps to feed the pigs every day--we missed this once we got back home!
My two older kids (ages 9 and 10), attended two days of Farm Camp. They loved it. The Farm Store was my favorite--I may have developed an addiction to Heide's Vanilla Bean Yogurt--I had to bring quarts back for all of my friends. YUM.
The Area:
We enjoyed the rural countryside surrounding the farm, but also visited nearby attractions. Belfast--a fun and charming seaside town is about 20 minutes away. We highly recommend the 'Must Be Nice' food truck--the most amazing lobster rolls. We also enjoyed Young's Lobster Pound's outdoor carryout dining. A little hectic because it was busy at the dinner hour, but with the views of the harbor, we couldn't complain.
We frequented Swan Lake State Park in nearby Swanville because our youngest preferred the beach and graduated entry of beautiful Swan Lake. Clear, cold water and gorgeous views.
We can't wait to return to Toddy Pond Farm next summer. It has been one of our favorite vacation rentals so far. We highly recommend it if you're looking for the perfect combination of peace and quiet with options for adventure, and both the Maine countryside and seaside. Thank you, Greg and Heide!

Spent a perfect week here with my two boys (ages 12 and 14). This place is about as idyllic as you could ever imagine. A perfect guest house with amazing views and gracious hosts (Heidi and Greg) welcomed us on the first day. Then...
Swimming and kayaking in Toddy pond, personal farm tour by Greg, feeding the chickens and pigs, watching the newborn piglets, getting up close to the dairy cows, day trips to Acadia national park and Camden Hills state park, best ice cream sandwiches, exploring the farm, seeing happy cows grazing right outside our window! The kids were thrilled. We were in the pond every day! What a pleasure to reconnect with nature. Simply terrific 😁

Even better than the pictures show.
We are so grateful that we were able to stay here and experience this amazing land, the fields, pine trees, pond and animals. This is a beautiful clean farm that smells better than fresh mown grass. Is it hay? Wildflowers? I'm not sure but it is sweet and fresh.
We heard that it was brutally hot back in Boston while we were sitting in Adirondack chairs, under the pine trees by the edge of the lake, enjoying the fresh breeze while the kids were jumping off the dock and playing with Shep the border collie, or the goats that they walked down to the lake. We kayaked and swam and explored the little islands.
I thought there were going to be all kind of rules, but the farmers are so easy going. Our twins who turned 13 while there, loved it. Loved hanging out with the cows, watching the milking, feeding the pigs, collecting the eggs. We are already planning to go back next year.
The house is even better in person. Spotlessly clean and fresh. Bedrooms and bathrooms are great. The "nook" is the best bedroom in the house, a curtained off mattress sized cupboard with an amazing view. But all the bedrooms have great views and are so comfortable.
One day we drove the 15 minutes to Belfast but we regretted it. Belfast is a beautiful little city, worth a visit in it own right, but we just wanted to be back on the farm. It is such a rare place, where we were on all this gorgeous land to ourselves with only the farmers and animals there. Thank you so much to Heidi and Greg who make this very special place what it is and make it available for others to have this experience.

This was our fourth trip to the cottage and we loved it just as much this year as we have every other summer. We spent almost all of our time at the pond and only stopped by to see the animals a little bit. Baby cows, baby goats, all cute. Enormous pigs who come running when they see anyone. At this point, the kids are older and they want to be active with hiking and kayaking and swimming until they drop, which is great. And we still love the quiet evenings on the porch and the early morning rooster calls. We hope to be back many more years.

This was our 3rd year staying at TPF cottage and we still adore it! the house is charming and well appointed. The farm is fun and the lake (and kayaks!) are perfect for a relaxing time

My adult sons and girlfriend, my sister, my beau, and I spent a perfect week at the Toddy Pond Farm guest house. The beds are firm and comfortable, the rooms clean and of the right number. Two full bathrooms ease the crowd crunch. The kitchen is well equipped, with a gas grill in the patio. The large gathering/dining room couldn't be better and is equipped with cards and games; several of us napped on the day beds at various times. The pond down the hill was clear, quiet, and beautiful, with a swimming dock, and kayaks available to paddle out to the loons. We easily drove into Belfast for restaurants and history when we wanted, and gladly stayed at the house for games, reading, swimming, and more. Our friendly and gracious hosts were the best, as was watching a working family farm in action. Oh, and the dairy products! It was worth every extra penny to go through two glass half gallons of fresh milk and the same of yogurt, rich yellow-yolked eggs from the chickens wandering around, fabulous ice cream sandwiches. We didn't even dent the meat freezer!
Highly recommend for your artist retreat, your family reunion, or your couples getaway. We'll be back, for sure.

A group of my friends and I rented the Toddy Pond Farm Cottage to celebrate another friends birthday and decided to extend our stay through New Year's Eve. All 8 of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. The cottage is beautiful and very well taken care of. Greg was a spectacular host and was extremely patient in putting up with a paranoid me as I obsessively checked the weather every few hours in the days leading up to our trip. A lengthy snowstorm was predicted for the day of our anticipated arrival and in a last minute change of plans, he allowed us to extend our reservation and made sure the cottage would be ready to go an entire day early for our group. We arrived very late at night (as we were coming last minute from almost 4 hours away in Massachusetts) to find that the outside lights had been left on as well as the heat turned up. Very cozy. We instantly felt welcome and made ourselves right at home. The next morning we woke up to an exquisite view of an incredible farm blanketed in snow, surrounded by gorgeous trees and a beautiful view of the pond. Greg was on top of the plowing of the cottage driveway and was very responsive and helpful the entire time we were there (he even hand delivered a package to us that we had delivered to the farm from Amazon).
All in all the entire stay was perfect. Still sad that it's already come and gone!

Toddy Pond Farm Cottage is quaint, spacious, and clean. With cows grazing in nearby fields and spectacular views of the pond and mountains beyond, the place is quite magical. The owners are clearly stewards of the earth as evidenced by the various organic, biodegradable products they have on hand. Highly recommend!!!

What a wonderful place. Greg and Heidi are excellent and generous hosts with their time and resources. As fellow farmers who care for the earth we were pleased to find biodegradable dish soap in the kitchen and organic olive oil by the stove. The space is incredible and what they are doing on their farm is noteworthy. I look forward to our next stay and only hope that it's available for the weekend we want to come.

Our family rented the cottage at Toddy Pond Farm for a week. I read all the other reviews here, and I agree with them, so I won't repeat all the (true) things that have been said about how great the accommodations are.
What I will add is that this was truly one of the best vacations the family has taken. The kids haven't stopped talking about wanting to re-book it for another stay, for one thing! It's true, this place is great to take the kids, but it's much more than that. The cottage is about 500 feet away from the farm, separated by pasture, so it would be easy to just hide out in the cottage for a more secluded, relaxing getaway without kids. So, I wouldn't just limit this to a "kids vacation" kind of place.
Greg, Heide and their boys were wonderfully accommodating and engaging hosts. They're clearly very passionate about sustainable family farming. We learned a ton about where our food comes from and how it gets to our plate, as well as things we can do to improve its quality. At the same time, while they gave us as much education as we asked for, they were never preachy in any way. Kept things very interesting for sure. Just very engaged in their work, and happy to answer all the questions we asked, demonstrate things, have us help as desired, etc. They are clearly "people people" who genuinely enjoy the farm guests.
The cottage was extremely clean, and fully stocked with sheets, towels, (organic and natural) cleaners and soaps, etc. It was easy to move in and feel at home. There are two stories, with a master bedroom on the first floor. Second floor has two bedrooms, plus a curtained sleeping nook that isn't really a full room, but was lots of fun for our 12 year olds. WiFi was OK but a little slow; there's no TV.
Again, you really can do as much, or as little, of the farm involvement as you like. There's kayaking and swimming (warning: you'll need to walk about 1/3 mile on a wooded path to get to the pond ... which is pretty big, more like a lake ... and it got pretty buggy on the walk. It's also uphill coming back). Belfast is an interesting town with restaurants, bookstores, etc. about a 20 minute drive away. Camden and Rockland are also nice towns, more like 50-60 minutes drive.
In short, this place is a good choice for many types of vacationers, from those with young children, thru teenagers, to older couples or groups without kids. You can be as active, or as laid back, as you like here. I can't say enough good things!

This was our second year at Toddy Pond Farm. When given the choice of Disney or Maine, my 12 and 10 year old firmly said Maine AND TPF. We love it here...the cottage is quaint and well appointed. The walk to the lake is a fabulous tromp through Maine's gorgeous pine trees and lovely fields. We love kayaking on the lake...and jumping off the rocks for a swim. Oh, and the ice cream...you MUST walk to the farm store and buy a ice cream sandwich for breakfast (you are on vacation afterall!). Belfast is a wonderful little town, Lincolnville Beach is a great stop as well as a harbor tour out of Camden. And take the day for a tour of Acadia. We highly recommend Toddy Pond Farm "Farm Stay" vacation and will be back for a 3-peat.

What an incredible few days we had at Toddy Pond Farm - our family of four began each day with fresh milk and yogurt from the farm store and leisurely time reading and playing games on the porch. Then each day held a different adventure - from walking through woods to the pond for kayaking, to a day at the beach, to a morning spent watching the milking of the cows and feeding of the animals. And each afternoon ended with a walk to the barn for ice cream sandwiches and arguments about which flavor was best (I was partial to the wild berry lavender ice cream on snicker doodle - my husband preferred the coffee on chocolate chip - but one couldn't go wrong). The house itself was immaculate and has clearly been updated with incredible care to preserve the historic feel of the cottage. We found ourselves plotting a return in the winter for some snow shoeing and time by the wood burning stove. And on the drive home from Maine we found ourselves discussing how much we enjoy knowing where our food comes from and understanding the hard work that goes into creating it. It could not have been more wonderful and we can't wait to go back.

We stayed at Toddy Pond Farm in August when the weather in that part of Maine is fantastic but not too hot. We loved the short walk to the pond every morning for kayaking and discovering the small islands on the pond, one of which was perfect to dock the kayaks and go for a swim. The kids loved swimming during the day or walking around the farm, seeing the animals or just exploring. It was so peaceful and such a different experience from going to a more touristy area.
The kids also loved playing with Shep, the resident border collie, who is always up for a game of catch. And in the afternoons we would walk to the farm store and get some yogurt made from the farm or ice cream sandwiches. It's a pretty relaxing way to spend a week and by the end, the kids were asking more and more questions about how farms work and where food comes from, which is also great.
We did go into Belfast a bit and found some nice restaurants there, and went to Moose Point State Park and Sears island, all very short drives. We will absolutely come back next year, and may be more interested in day trips at that time. For this first visit, we were perfectly comfortable just hanging out on the porch and spending as much time as possible being active on the water. Everything we needed to relax and have fun was right on the farm.
