About this house rental
Welcome to Marshwind!
Winter Monthly Rentals Available - message for more info.
Before booking spring/summer please send me a note via the messages.
A great place for a couple to spend a relaxing, quiet week on the coast.
Located in the historic fishing village of Prospect, perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean - where crashing waves, granite rocks and wildlife surround you.
Open the door and you are just a few feet from the ocean's edge. Enjoy ocean views from every window in the home.
Stay inside and watch the tide ebb & flow from a comfy chair or venture out for one of the many coastal-trail or in-land hikes. Don't forget your camera, you will see beauty in the amazing vistas & abundant wildlife. Marvel at how plants and trees cling to the exposed granite coast.
Interested in birds? You will be able to add many coastal and ocean bird species to your list. Birds often make a stop in our backyard during their migrations in the fall & spring. Winter brings an abundance of Northern ducks.
Bring your kayaks or rent from a local outfitter - launch them from the boat ramp in your back-yard and explore some of the best kayaking coastline in Eastern Canada - shipwrecks, deserted islands and lighthouses are just waiting for you to discover.
Marshwind is perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all and enjoy some peace at the seaside - while still being close enough to it all for day-trips to Nova Scotia's attractions.
In 2012 Marshwind, was used as a set location for the Hallmark movie 'Christmas with Holly'.

This was a beautiful property situated on a quiet street populated by deer! The house had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed watching the tide come in and out daily from the back porch. Sunset is across the way, and worth the trip! Communication with Meagan was easy and timely. The views from the kitchen and bedrooms were spectacular! We hope to stay again!

This place had a great location too! Centrally located for all the local tourist attractions. Super cute home, very clean and well stocked with basic supplies. Host was quick to respond to our inquiries and had great advice for the local beach! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Prospect Village is at land's end, where one can observe the tides come and go in their infinite variation, the land and diverse wildlife beautifully integrated. I particularly enjoyed the fog and all its mystery and stillness.
The house was spacious and refined, the kitchen well equipped. Very comfortable sleeping. Easy access to the city and other parts of Peggy's Cove area. A good home base for more adventuresome day trips as well.
We had a memorable time exploring near and far. All greatly appreciated! It would be a great pleasure to return.

Absolutely stunning home for our week long holiday. Everything we needed was provided by our wonderful hosts. Beautiful views from every window, but especially from the back deck. The bedrooms were spacious, and the beds were amazing to sleep on.
Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Nova Scotia to stay at Marshwind as it was such a perfect, peaceful and welcoming home. The location was great and so wonderful to come home to after a long day of sightseeing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Marshwind. It is a beautiful house and property with everything you could need. We loved early mornings looking out over the water and the coastal hike was great! Meagan provided many helpful suggestions which we were able to take advantage of. We were able to easily travel to Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove, as well as to Halifax for supper one evening. This was our first trip to the East Coast and our holiday was wonderful thanks in large part to our stay at Marshwind. We would love to stay again and would not hesitate to recommend to others!

This was our second stay at this wonderful property and if we could rate it higher than a 5, we definitely would! It is clean, perfectly appointed and tastefully decorated. And that would be enough to give it a 5 star rating. But oh, the views!! From every room of the house!! The darling little fishing village of Prospect Bay is idyllic. Straight out of a novel. And the neighbors were delightful! Just a hop and a skip from great restaurants in Halifax and Peggy's Cove. We drove 2+ days each way to stay here for 7 days. 5 days of driving for a 7 day stay. And it was worth every mile. Just wish we had longer. But thankful for the time we had! Thank you Meagan and Scott for sharing this beautiful spot!

This cottage was immaculate and inviting. Every room had something unique to offer for relaxation or recreation. Every window had a view of the stunning and tranquil surroundings. The sunny days were vibrant and alive. The foggy or rainy days were charming and inspiring. Local residents were friendly and hospitable. We'd love to stay again!

The house is well equiped for everything we needed and the communication with Meagan and Scott super efficient. We really appreciated our stay!

Stunning and peaceful retreat
This is a wonderful house in a fabulous location. It's close enough to Halifax to be accessible but it feels worlds away. Beautifully quiet, with gorgeous views from literally every window, and super quiet. Meaghan was very helpful.

We fell in love with Prospect Bay & this beautiful house!
Our family loved this house & this area for so many reasons I don’t think I can accurately review all the reasons why. The first thing that was exceptional was how accommodating and flexible Meagan was with our reservation. We live in Ottawa and needed a place to quarantine for 2 weeks if we were allowed to come to NS to visit family. Meagan was kind enough to allow our booking knowing we may not be able to come to NS until just a few days before our arrival date due to strict Covid 19 rules for travel . Luckily our dates worked as restrictions lifted in time for our trip. The house is simply gorgeous , the view from the house truly is like a painting . It literally takes your breath away. The house is a perfect blend of historic and modern with all the comforts of your own home. The kitchen has tons of dishes & everything else you would need for cooking a family meal. There was plenty of space for our family of 5 which includes our 22, 24 & 27yo children . Some of us were in need of workspace during our 2 week stay and found the internet handled our needs very well. Meagan was even kind enough to pick up a grocery order for us as we were not sure if we would be able to go to the store until we received back our negative COVID tests. I would love to return to this beautiful property on another visit to NS. Thank you for an incredible stay!!

Beautiful property and community for my quarantine. Wifi speed was outstanding. My wife joined me for my last night when my quarantine was complete and the bird watching and hiking were fantastic as was the sunset!

Lovely place to vacation
Beautiful updated spacious vacation property! We loved our stay. The house has all the amenities and the property with the cove view was breathtaking. Saw some of the most wonderful sunrises!! Was perfect for some quiet and serene downtime. Meagan was great in answering our questions on where to dine and purchase seafood, etc, and was accommodating with our scheduling constraints. Thanks so much! We will definitely be back!

Absolute beauty
Our whole family - two adults, two teens - agree that this is one of the top 3 cottage/vacation rentals we have ever stayed at. Prospect is visually stunning, the hiking is awesome, the weather ever-changing....and to be able to hike out the front door across visually stunning rocky outcroppings to open ocean, and kayak out the back door in the relative calm waters of the marsh....fantastic. And the cottage itself is perfectly laid out - a great division of space for a family with 2 teens - cozy rooms for sharing, and space to spread out. Very well equipped. We will be back!!

Truly one of the best spots we’ve ever rented (and we VRBO a lot)
I can’t even begin to say enough about our experience with this property. Scenic. Peaceful. A balm for the soul. Nothing describes it adequately.
The house was spotless and beautifully decorated. Also very well equipped with everything you’d need. Some places we’ve rented have had the minimal but this place has plenty. Plenty of pans, dishes, small appliances, towels and other supplies needed to live like you’re home while playing like you’re on vacation.
The community is a quaint and stunning fishing village with neighbors that are as sweet and friendly as can be...not intrusive at all but always quick to smile and greet you as you walk down the lane and happy to stop and chat or point out favorite local places of interest. Truly a place to breathe out stress and breathe in peace.
Not only is the house itself lovely and the place it’s situated a feast for the eyes, but the central location can not be beat. From this home you can traverse the southern coast of Nova Scotia with ease, with the big city advantages and the rural beauty being equally accessible. Halifax is a wonderful culinary experience with so many eateries that it would take a year to exhaust them all. But DO NOT MISS a wonderful little place called “The French Fix” on the corner of Prince and Argyle streets in Halifax. They serve the most delicious macarons and baked goods and we were delighted to find out AFTER we had been there that it was owned by one of our lovely “neighbors” in the village.
There is a beautiful hike just minutes from the doorstep of this property that takes you to some of the most stunning views of the ocean. And the cove in the backyard of this home is different every day with the sun, the tide and the weather changing the beauty of it at every turn. We enjoyed kayaking at high tide and seeing the wildlife from the deck and every window of the home.
To say we would return to this spot is a no brainer and we hope to get back again. It was well worth the two full days of driving it took to get there from our home in the U.S. Thank you to the homeowners for sharing your slice of heaven with this family!

Another wonderful week at Marshwind
This is our second stay and once again it exceeded our expectations. The house is so well equipped and well care for, we really feel at home. And we do love this part of Nova Scotia- so much to do and see, even when the weather does not cooperate, it is a beautiful place to be. We never seem to have enough time to do all the things we plan. Meagan and Scott are wonderful hosts- there for whatever you need. We love this place and will surely be back again.

Serenity
Marshwind is the perfect spot for a respite. The cottage is charming, the sunrises over the water
breathtaking, and the hikes stunning. This was our second stay there... all the way from Seattle, Washington. That says it all! Thank you, Meagan, for all your lovely touches!

Comfort, serenity, and oh those views!
My husband and I had a wonderful week at Marshwind. Beautifully situated on a quiet cove with great views of the marsh out the back (complete with terns, ducks, and busy little crabs) and the Atlantic out front. The house itself is a beautiful remodel of an old house with all the modern amenities but still retaining the coastal fisherman's vibe. Waking to sunrise in the master bedroom (no blinds on the big window) and the amazing view was not a problem for me, though it might not be everyone's cup of tea. We lived in the kitchen and on the back deck and loved the view from the computer nook on the 2nd floor! Nova Scotia recycling took a bit of study but happy to do our part in keeping NS so clean. While not exactly remote (only 20 minutes to Halifax) if you're looking to be at the center of the action, look elsewhere. Here it was all about the sea, the marsh, a good hiking trail, picturesque views, a few good books, and glasses of NS wine--which you can pick up in one of the few local stores (and by local I mean 6 miles down the road).
Everything here is comfortable and clean and really a wonderful location for some respite from a crazy world. The fog can be T-H-I-C-K in the mornings and take quite a few hours to burn off, but 5 miles down the road you'll have clear blue skies. I kept thinking what a great spot it would be for a weeklong retreat with the girls. I hope to return some day and highly recommend this beautiful spot.

Exceeded Expectations
This well designed home allowed for comfort of entertainment of family and friends. The house has windows everywhere which bathed every room in sunlight.
The water views are incredible “ and I was born in Prospect “ . I will use Marshwinds for future visits to my mother.
The fully equipped kitchen had everything. All the usual items plus placemats, napkins, bowls of every size and even tealights.

A beautiful house in a beautiful place
So happy we picked this cottage ,even better than the pictures. Perfect location for exploring the area, Peggy's Cove, Halifax, Lunnenburg & Mahone Bay all within easy driving distance. The house is very well equipped , comfy beds & spotlessly clean. All this & the ocean is literally steps from the front door! Wish we could have stayed longer. And the hosts Meagan and Scott are both lovely people!

Amazing cottage on bayside on peninsula in quaint ocean front village
The cottage itself is amazing. Very quaint with a great combo of older cottage and new addition Beautiful tasteful landscaping and decorations. Sits right on the bayside with a boat launch ramp and multiple adirondack chairs for comfort outside. Great views including the ocean from all windows. Fabulous path just a few hundred feet away that leads out to an open space where you can enjoy the ocean crashing on the boulders or just walk the extensive trails. Host and neighbors very friendly. Great experience. From here we visited bay of Fundy. Grand pre vineyard. Peggy's cove and relaxed and read. You will love this place!

One of a Kind Property!
Our stay at Marshwind was one of our most memorable vacations. The property is one of a kind. Marshwind was pristine, decorated elegantly and functionally. The owners, Meagan and Scott thought of everything to make the stay perfect. The view from every corner of the home is remarkable. We didn't want to leave. Thanks for opening your cottage to us. We hope to back one day!

A lovely quiet retreat
Nestled in a tranquil community, we loved every minute of our holiday. A great location to explore surrounding areas but far enough away to enjoy a week of R &R. Meagan and Scott were gracious hosts who ensured we had everything we needed. Marshwind was well equipped for cooking and provided a cosy stay. I am sure we will return soon!!

June in Prospect
Love the cottage. It is such an architecturally pleasing home and the setting on the water is amazing. Enjoyed watching the birds and the tides come and go.
The location in Prospect Village allows walks through the village and great access to the High Head Trail along the rocky coast.
Thanks for sharing your cottage with us!

Can't wait to come back!
A week of pure relaxation, close to the water and the warmth of the sun. We can't remember enjoying such peace on any other vacation. Marshwind was in pristine condition, immaculately clean, and decorated with the perfect touch of whimsy, yet with all the practical necessities at our fingertips. The view in every direction is photographable. With the rhythm of the tides to measure the days, they melted away into our memories forever. We knew we would enjoy Nova Scotia, Prospect and Marshwind. We had no idea we would enjoy them all so much. With the extra accommodations upstairs, we want to bring our family along next time. Thanks, Scott and Meagan, for this wonderful gift. Can't wait to come back!

The pictures don't do it justice. Such a quiet, beautiful, and relaxing spot; simply perfect!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Marshwind, and are already trying to figure out when we can make it back. Meagan and Scott we're so friendly, available, and accommodating; we couldn't have asked for better! The house is well kept and equipped, and perfectly situated to take in the wonderful sights, fresh smells, and sounds of the bay and its wildlife. We'll be actively recommending Marshwind and a Nova Scotia vacation to all out family and friends.
