Fabulous location in central Porto with beautiful views, but no charm

The location of the appartment is fantastic and it is very comfortable for 3 people with fabulous views across the river.

For an appartment which is at the top end of the market, it didn't feel very welcoming. We did not like things like coffee or beer and water in the fridge being charged - it felt cheap and mean. Rules with financial penalisations are also not very friendly! We also communicated a couple of problems - you can't lock the back door, the safe does not work and these issues were not satisfactorily addressed. The duvets need covers - again it feels like corners are being cut.

Fabulous place on the river

Fantastic location, right on the Duoro river, and a great view of the bridge. Spacious apartment, clean, comfortable, and modern. The host was exceptional. She gave us recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We loved this place and would definitely stay here again. The host even sent a young man to help us with our luggage at check out, and she carried our bags up the stairs for us! Now that's service. We are a fit couple in our 60s, and the stairs were steep, but it gave us a fabulous view, so we'll worth it.

Lovely place! Definitely would come back

Excelente location, great views to the river, nicely decorated and clean. Rosa (the owner) was very friendly and gave us great recommendations both for restaurant and paces to visit.

A beautiful apartment in a beautiful city.

We spent three highly enjoyable nights at The Red House by the River. Rosa is an excellent host who was there to meet us and give us great tips on places to visit and recommend excellent places to eat which we would have never discovered otherwise. The location was ideal, with amazing views of the river. It was right near the main tourist areas but it also felt quiet and relaxing. The apartment was spotless and comfortable. Highly recommend.

ROSA WAS AN EXCELLENT HOST WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE . EXCELLENT VIEW OF THE RIVER EASY TO MOVE AROUND.BEATUFUL APRTMENT SINCE WE WERE ONLY TWO WE GOT THE SMALL APARTMENT PERFECT SIZE FOR THE TWO OF US.

The location of this property can’t be beat. It’s quiet and in the center of everything. Rosa gave us some fantastic restaurant recommendations and was very nice and communicative. Check in was very easy.

Hands down, my new favorite place.

Loved every single thing about this stay. Hands down the most beautiful place I've stayed with the absolute most perfect location that is in the heart of everything you'd like to see in Porto. Rosa is an incredible host that is so very knowledgeable about all things Porto and goes above and beyond to make you feel safe and welcome. The Red House has been in her family for a very long time and you can tell that it has been very well taken care of and meticulous thought and detail was put into every inch of space. I honestly can't sing enough praises for the Red House. We WILL be back.

Perfect spot in Porto

The property is in the perfect location. It was clean and the kitchenette had everything we needed. Rosa was amazing, she gave us excellent advice about our travel and sightseeing and saved us heaps of time!

Short break in Porto

Rosa arranged a transfer from the airport for us and met us at the property which was very helpful and started our holiday on a good note. The apartment was very nicely decorated, comfortable and well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The river views looking across to Vila Nova de Gaia were amazing and the pretty mountain garden at the back of the apartment was an extra bonus providing a quiet outdoor space. The Red House By The River is in easy reach of everything that Porto has to offer so a perfect choice for our holiday. Rosa provided us with a lot of useful information and recommendations. She can also arrange tours and trips if or you.. I definitely recommend the apartment with river and mountain views and would stay here again if we return to Porto

Loved Porto and love the Red House by the River.

This is a really charming apartment located steps away from the Riberia/water front, could not be better. Rosa, our host, met us upon arrival and walked us through the property and gave us some great suggestions on restaurants and sites. She was also very responsive in answering any questions we had throughout our stay, she was wonderful. The apartment was really clean, very spacious and nicely decorated. The view of the river was great, we were able to walk the entire city from this location. It is mostly up hill to many of the sites and city center but it was a nice walk. The funicular is about 50ft from the front door, that can take you up part of the way. Would highly recommend!

There really aren't any negatives to this apartment, the only downside was the bed is a little uncomfortable/hard but that was it.

Amazing room. Amazing location. Great host.

Location was perfect. Right along the Douro River but on the quiet side. A couple minutes walk to the main touristy area. Met by the Host who gave us a quick run down of Porto and suggested tours and even booked a tour for us so we could have more time exploring.

Porto is beautiful, everything is nearby food is good!

Location was great. You could walk to everything, Rosa the host is very nice, and will answer any of your questions promptly. Rosa makes every effort to help you with anything you might need!

The area outside could be updated, definitely the stairs are an issue if you have a bags , they are very very steep. Rosa did accommodate us with getting our bags up and down stairs so that was very nice of her! The couch makes into a bed and is OK, the bed in the bedroom is also just OK both should be updated to more comfort!

this house has incredible views of the river and bridge. it is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. the neighbourhood is lively and so close to the river area. there is an incredible bar only two doors down. take note of the stairs in the photo- they are steep, but it should not stop you from staying here.

very steep stairs up to the studio apartment which were a bit uneven in places due to their age so they felt a bit dangerous. these weren’t mentioned in the details. nowhere to leave luggage at the property before check in and after check out. no drawers for clothes storage.
