About this house rental
A unique feature about the Pines Lodge is that it is located in an ATV Friendly area. The Monday Creek Trail System is located 1-mile away from the cabin. Wayne National Forest offers over 75+ miles of designated trails for off-road riders. Guests can ride directly from the cabin to the nearest trailhead. If you have your own off-road vehicle, bring it to experience Wayne National Forest.
You will follow forest covered, back roads until you reach our Pines Lodge that is nestled next to Sand Run Lake, 18,000+ acres of Wayne National Forest, and is situated on our 7-acre property with a private pond and a water wheel. Upon arrival, you are welcomed to beautiful views of the forest that will have you coming back for more. Being avid outdoor lovers, we hope you and your guests get to spend some quality time outdoors! Sip your morning coffee off the large deck overlooking the forest and listening to the nearby nature.
Spend the afternoon enjoying flamed grilled food from the grill. Partake in some catch and release fishing in the private pond on the lower portion of the property or at Sand Run Lake. Make sure you stroll over to Sand Run Lake Picnic area and wander into the forest filled with pine trees. If you have a hammock, we recommend bringing it so you can fall asleep amongst the trees.
There is a newly renovated gravel firepit with wooden benches and Adirondack chairs for you and your guests to create memories of a lifetime around the campfire. You can end your night by relaxing and unwinding in the warm Jacuzzi. Before heading to bed, make sure you and your guests check out the beautiful starry night sky because that’s not something you get to experience all the time.

I emailed several times and called just to receive 1 email back from 1st Choice Property Management. We stayed from Sunday to Friday and I received the email on Tuesday with no further communication from them.
We had some problems with the House 1. Leak in refrigerator (looked at couldn’t fix) 2. Bathroom upstairs no hot water (they did fix this) 3. Bedroom downstairs couldn’t use lights something wrong with switch could be a potential fire hazard.
We enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
They do need to update some appliances.
The location was great close to the caves and other activities in the area.

This was a great place to stay for a family of hikers. Spent time hiking at Hocking Hills State Park and Lake Hope State Park. The house was centrally located between these parks. We hike in the morning, swim in the afternoon and then grill-out in the evening. Great times! The free WIFI was very handy as our phones had no signal on the Verizon network.

Everything was good except for the hot tub it was not working even after they came to fix it! Nice location, loved the pool, quiet, peaceful, great family time together.

Great experience ! Would love to book again

I checked in online and thought the process was great. I didn’t realize I needed to stop by the business and go over paperwork and pick up the key. A little miscommunication when the cell service is spotty.my daughter stopped on her way to the property and handled everything and was just fine. Beautiful property! The cabin was stocked and immaculately clean. Very private and great setting. The hot tub should have been completely drained and cleaned. We did use the grill, fire ring, oven, and stove. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, and everything you need. Beds were perfect, The smart tv had every channel imaginable. Great get away.

We had the most amazing time here! The pictures show a swing set, but there is no swing set, and the property manager was very clear and upfront about that, which I greatly appreciate! And, other than that, the only downside was there were a few things we needed to clean up when we got there, but it was no big deal! They talked to us through our stay to check on us! The hot tub worked perfectly! The property is huge, and priced very well! The communication with the manager was amazing! This place is our new favorite place in the Hocking Hills area, and we will DEFINITELY stay here again! Thank you guys so much!

We loved our time! The cabin was just what we needed - plenty of space for everyone, lots of outdoor room to roam and play if we didn’t want to drive for a longer hike. We will definitely be coming back to this property!

We had a great family vacation. Due to the warm weather, the pool was a total hit with the whole gang! The hot tub wasn't working but someone came out as soon as I informed them that it had all drained out. We were not going to use it anyway. The evenings around the campfire and the smores over the fire were wonderful. Thank you so much!

The location is nice and quiet and beautiful trees surround the property. O for table for our family of 9- 5 adults and 4 children. Kitchen has many pans, but some were well used but enough. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper etc. we did have some issues like the pool was dirty but they sent someone out the next day. Alas the hot tub is still broken! I think it should be removed from listing. But any issue was addressed quickly via email, which was appreciated. All in all we had a good time here

I emailed the people directly about all my concerns but the 3 major things that need fixed and addressed before I return is -
First the housekeepers need to check under rugs and sweep and mop better- there was a lot of dog food and hair and dust under the big rug underneath the big dining room table
Second the hot tub just needs replaced- I saw before booking that there was issues but it’s beyond repair just cause both screens didn’t work one was taped up and the other didn’t do anything- if it’s a amenity that is advertised and I’m sure raises the price of the property it should be working at its full potential.
Lastly the upstairs shower needs fixed majorly! One of my girls tried to take a shower and the cold Nob fell off and we couldn’t get the water to shut off even by putting the nob back on- we think it’s stripped out or something. Then the tub kept filling up and finally we just had to figure out where the main shut off was on the other side of the wall in the main room upstairs. This could have caused lots of water damage to the property let alone not a good experience for the person who finds the problem.
Other than these 3 main things that are easily fixable if they take the time to just fix it. Me and my girls had a good time playing games we brought and swimming in the pool - if it wasn’t for the nice pool then it wouldn’t be worth it much.

Pros: Enough space for everyone. Grounds do not have steep hills that are too difficult to navigate.
Cons: Beds are more like full size, not queen. No swingset, as pictures show. No “waterpark”, as advertised. Hot tub water was dirty. Hot tub cover is literally duct taped together. Jets / lights don’t work (more duct tape over the top panels). Hornets nest at woods entryway; glad only 1 adult was stung and none of the kids! Need to check in and check out by picking up a key at the main office; no contact-less check in.
We didn’t let the state of the cabin ruin our time, but it def needs some love and attention.

Great time making memories. A few minor things that we didn't let spoil our time. Nice cabin and location!
4.3
We enjoyed our stay at this property. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and deck. Large house was very accommodating for our large family with enough beds and table room for everyone. It is a bit of a drive to Hocking Hills from here but that wasnt really a big problem.
4.3
I like this cabin but I not like hot tub very dirty never clean.
4.3
We had a great time exploring Hockings Hills area from this ‘home base.’ The cabin was wonderful for our group, giving everyone space to spread out but a comfortable place to hang together, too.
4.3
This location is close to many walking trails. It's also pet friendly and very clean. We have stayed there a couple of times and communication with the property manager is easy.
4.3
My cousins and I were looking for something simple but comfortable. This place was just that. Very cute!

Stayed 3 nights/4 days
As far as the actual property, it was pretty clean and a nice house. However, prior to staying I read reviews about the hot tub not warming up and even after the maintnence came and checked it, it never warmed up past 88. Our family was really disappointed in this as it was the main reason we paid for an expensive property,
4.3
Listing was falsely advertised. No playground, gaming area. Property management blamed listing inaccuracies on VRBO, without resolving the issue or taking any accountability. Hot Tub didn't work, was never fixed. Disappointing property management, will not stay again. Definitely other properties/considerate property management firms to rent from in the Hocking Hills area.

First, the property no longer has the playset which was upsetting since that was one of the reasons we wanted this property. Another cabin sits directly behind the property, the first night that group played music so loud we could hear every word, and the second night one of the girls was SCREAMING obscenities. Obviously, this is not the fault of the cabin, but necessary to note how close they are. the bunk rooms are small with little to no storage....a shelf and hangers would go a long way. The kitchen was well stocked, the hot tub had a nasty smell. The basement has a 'hang-out room' but only a couch and chair, adding a TV or ping pong table or something to make the space welcoming would go a long way too. You have to pick the key up about 15 min away so be prepared for that too. The fire pit was where we spent most of our time, which was great and located close to the house with plenty of seating.
4.3
Great cabin, wish we would have known there was another cabin in backyard; good stay overall room-wise.
There was NO reception and no landline or sat phone (even for rent) so when my MIL had a stroke it was a nightmare.
Good amenities, nice looking cabin. Fantastic pool/hot tub. It was also great having a dishwasher and 2 washers and dryers. Great selection of pre-stocked cooking implements as well.
no remote for the DVD player, under the beds/couch/couch cushions we not cleaned; we found glasses, toys & crumbs; also not a lot of extra blankets/throws no sat phone for emergency-MIL had stroke

The property was beautiful! The house was clean and had all the essentials you would use at home! The pool and hot tub were great! Such a great weekend away with our family!

We had a great time relaxing in the pool and hot tub. Cabin was nice and clean.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at The Pines. The check in was easy and having a pool on site was perfect!

We stayed for 5 days and the hot tub never worked right. The first night it took hours to heat up that we couldn’t even get in it till morning. By morning the jets broke, so we communicated our issue to the property management who couldn’t get anyone out there till the following day. Now it’s the 3rd day with no actual hot tub. Maintenance came by and said they’ve been having issues with this hot tub which made me more upset. Took him about 1 minute to “fix it” about 4 hours later it broke again as it was heating up. He came back the following day again and same problem. Worked until it reached a certain temp and then fully shut off. The hot tub was one of the main amenities that I wanted in my booking and to have it be broken throughout our entire stay was so disappointing especially when they were already aware of the issues. Kitchen had dirty dishes and almost every appliance had missing parts or were broken. Had to write them the first day because the coffee maker never worked and that took 12 hours to get a new coffee maker. Tea kettle leaked, upstairs shower doesn’t have cold water, and the pressure of the downstairs bathroom is a mist at best. Needless to say we will not be coming back or booking with this property management company ever again.

This was a great cabin in the Hocking Hills area. The family really enjoyed the pool and Hot Tub. It really came in handy with the high temps we experienced. The only recommendation we would have would be to add storage capability in the bedrooms and kitchen areas

The property was beautiful, relaxing and quiet. It was very hot that weekend and the pool was amazing. The cabin was wonderful lots of space, clean and very accommodating. Will definitely return!!

Nice property in good location
House needs some updates but was clean and comfortable. 2 families with total of 7 people fit well. Nice pool, deck, and fire pit area. Walking distance to a nice park and pond. Overall property is small than pictures appear. Less than 30 minutes drive to most Hocking Hills attractions.

Great vacation / relaxing spot, a bit pricy for what it is
When we booked this place in the winter, it looked great! Especially what appeared to be a large pool! 4 bed, 2 bath Lodge at 2500 square feet, that sure sounds huge! I live in a 2000 square foot house, so it gave me a decent approximation. Most of the pictures are taken with what appears to be a wide angle or from areal positions. This made a lot of things appear bigger in the photos than what was reality. For 6 adults, we were more or less on top of each other the entire time. Sure, the house is big, but some of the spaces are locked out, the basement is a bit of a dungeon that had chairs, but that was it. The lay out of the house ate up much of the useable space to hang out in. Another thing to note is that the pictures are outdated. As an example, the landing photo shows a playground that isn’t on the property anymore.
Check in process was a little annoying. I missed the email due to a spam filter, and cell signal isn’t good at the cabin. So, we drove about 10 min south, only to find out that we had to drive to a check in office in a near by town to get our key. Not a huge deal, but I would have gone there first had I known.
In general, the place felt dated for the price that we paid of about 850 or so a night after you factor in all the fees and what not. The TVs are not smart TVs, decor is older, and the kitchen / grill is usable, but not great. The pool and hot tub are amazing, and we spent a lot of time in these. If the price were ½ of what we paid, I would have given this 4-5 stars. We have stayed at many places like this, and felt that the discrepancy of price vs what you get was the least value in 7 years of doing this kind of trip.
