Alpine Chalet #6 Half Loft

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

This charming loft is part of the idyllic Alpine Chalets community, perched right above scenic and peaceful Beverly Beach. Perfect for a family getaway or two couples traveling together, this Otter Rock vacation cottage looks like a mountainy, alpine retreat from the outside, but on the inside, it's all laid-back, sun-kissed beach style!

This A-frame-style getaway features wood-paneled walls, tall ceilings, a comfortable grey sofa, and chairs, with pops of color from bright throw pillows and wildlife-themed art on the walls.

On stormy afternoons, stay warm and dry while you're treated to a show out beyond the glass. And on sunny days, this large window floods the chalet with natural light. For entertainment when you get back from exploring the area's famed tide pools, hiking, or even a trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in nearby Newport, just turn on the TV - there's even cable, a DVD player, and VCR, as well as WiFi throughout the chalet.

The open floor plan downstairs also includes a wooden dining table and a basic kitchen with everything you'll need for preparing and eating meals in. One pot dishes like clam chowder, curry chicken, and seafood stew are no problem here - you could even roast a rosemary and balsamic-marinated pork tenderloin in the oven. While you wash and dry dishes, just finish up the rest of the wine and talk about the beach adventures you'll have the next day.

Right off the kitchen is the bedroom, complete with a queen sized bed, colorful bedding, bedside tables, and reading lamps. There's also a full bathroom downstairs, so for anyone that doesn't want to deal with steps, this is the perfect bedtime location.

But, if you don't mind stairs, up in the loft you'll find a perfect sleeping retreat with another queen bed, wood-paneled walls, and cozy ambiance. From up here, you'll also have a nice birds-eye view of the open living area below.

For a memorable trip to the Central Oregon Coast, this Otter Rock vacation rental is a great escape! Walk to Mo's West for fish and chips on a summer afternoon or just curl up on your plush, window-side chair to view a late afternoon storm out at sea.

I almost never give a negative review because I understand the impact that they can have and would rather provide that feedback directly. However, I truly feel that others should know what they are getting. We paid $241 for one night at this place in December and instead of staying, we preferred to drive 2.5 hours home. There were stains all over the carpet, it has an extremely steep and dangerous stairway to the loft (definitely not kid friendly), and the lighting felt like you were being interrogated. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dirt under the bed and on the floor, and the kitchen was not stocked. There was food left over on some of the baking trays. We've stayed in nicer places for $50 a night. The heat was off when we got there on a December night and by the time we left (1 hour after checking in) it was still freezing. Extremely disappointed.

In all honesty, I have never entered a "clean vacasa rental". It's not necessary a problem, we nominally just clean the rental before we unpack. Anyway this place is small and quaint, essentials you need (sleep, TV, cooking space, shower). When we first arrived to #6 the TV screen had a huge crack. Called vacasa and they sent in a replacement in about 2 hours. Besides that I enjoyed my stay. The walk to the beach is beautiful, there is a place to sit and watch whales, the stairs down to the beach are a little rough for someone that doesn't have great balance. But if you are an outdoors person it's nothing. Being next to the devil's punchbowl and the light house is a great location. I would definitely come back again.

Walking distance to beach. Amazing food close by. Tucked away and quiet, but easy to find. Easy to unload car... can pull up right next to front door.

We love Otter Rock, Oregon. Nice and quiet. And friendly people. This little cabin was great. It takes me back in time.

This unit used to have a king bed downstairs, it is now a queen and bedding looks tired. Kitchen was short on dishes, everything was fine, not great.

This was a great location-part way between Depoe Bay and Newport. It was a short walking distance to the beach.

Close to the beach, but neglected
Close to the beach, but neglected
The positive: location to the beach and privacy couldn’t be better. The normal bed mattresses and carpet look newer. The negative: the sofa bed was broken and unusable, as well as the mattress being old, beat up, and the mattress cover stained, threadbare, and dirty. I contacted Vacasa and they suggested I go buy an air mattress for the property and they would reimburse me. Doing that, I needed to move a dresser in the loft to make space for the air mattress and discovered what I believe to be the traces of a prior bug infestation, but cannot be sure (perhaps that explains the new carpet and mattresses). I do know that there were random black specks in the kitchen pantries and shelving that resembled coffee grounds, which is what cockroach feces looks like. Also, the mattress cover on the loft bed was stained and there was something dried into the carpet next to the bed. It looked like dried vomit or spit up, but could have been something else (I didn’t get close enough to decide). The bottom foot of the walls in the downstairs bedroom were lined with mold and the in-wall heater grates in the bedroom and bathroom were caked in dirt and mold. The shower is only usable 30 seconds at a time before water comes backing up out of the drain, bringing up with it whatever is down in the pipes. I found I could shower by getting wet, turning off the water so the drain could clear and soaping up during that time, then turning in the water for another 20-30 seconds before the water backed up again - repeating this process several times until rinsed. Definitely not a nice showering experience. I didn’t contact Vacasa about this because the “local team” that Vacasa said was reviewing the other things never bothered to contact me or reach out or anything, so I just gave up and figured out how to make the stay work for my family since everything else was booked up in town. Overall, I would love to stay at the Alpine Chalets again, IF things were cleaned up, working properly, and an exterminator came through. The location is great, but the stress from everything else and the hassle of not wanting to bring my luggage inside the house now that I’m home for fear of bringing in uninvited guests or their eggs is a major bummer.
