Alpine Chalet #6 Half Loft
Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'
This charming loft is part of the idyllic Alpine Chalets community, perched right above scenic and peaceful Beverly Beach. Perfect for a family getaway or two couples traveling together, this Otter Rock vacation cottage looks like a mountainy, alpine retreat from the outside, but on the inside, it's all laid-back, sun-kissed beach style!
This A-frame-style getaway features wood-paneled walls, tall ceilings, a comfortable grey sofa, and chairs, with pops of color from bright throw pillows and wildlife-themed art on the walls.
On stormy afternoons, stay warm and dry while you're treated to a show out beyond the glass. And on sunny days, this large window floods the chalet with natural light. For entertainment when you get back from exploring the area's famed tide pools, hiking, or even a trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in nearby Newport, just turn on the TV - there's even cable, a DVD player, and VCR, as well as WiFi throughout the chalet.
The open floor plan downstairs also includes a wooden dining table and a basic kitchen with everything you'll need for preparing and eating meals in. One pot dishes like clam chowder, curry chicken, and seafood stew are no problem here - you could even roast a rosemary and balsamic-marinated pork tenderloin in the oven. While you wash and dry dishes, just finish up the rest of the wine and talk about the beach adventures you'll have the next day.
Right off the kitchen is the bedroom, complete with a queen sized bed, colorful bedding, bedside tables, and reading lamps. There's also a full bathroom downstairs, so for anyone that doesn't want to deal with steps, this is the perfect bedtime location.
But, if you don't mind stairs, up in the loft you'll find a perfect sleeping retreat with another queen bed, wood-paneled walls, and cozy ambiance. From up here, you'll also have a nice birds-eye view of the open living area below.
For a memorable trip to the Central Oregon Coast, this Otter Rock vacation rental is a great escape! Walk to Mo's West for fish and chips on a summer afternoon or just curl up on your plush, window-side chair to view a late afternoon storm out at sea.

I almost never give a negative review because I understand the impact that they can have and would rather provide that feedback directly. However, I truly feel that others should know what they are getting. We paid $241 for one night at this place in December and instead of staying, we preferred to drive 2.5 hours home. There were stains all over the carpet, it has an extremely steep and dangerous stairway to the loft (definitely not kid friendly), and the lighting felt like you were being interrogated. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dirt under the bed and on the floor, and the kitchen was not stocked. There was food left over on some of the baking trays. We've stayed in nicer places for $50 a night. The heat was off when we got there on a December night and by the time we left (1 hour after checking in) it was still freezing. Extremely disappointed.

In all honesty, I have never entered a "clean vacasa rental". It's not necessary a problem, we nominally just clean the rental before we unpack. Anyway this place is small and quaint, essentials you need (sleep, TV, cooking space, shower). When we first arrived to #6 the TV screen had a huge crack. Called vacasa and they sent in a replacement in about 2 hours. Besides that I enjoyed my stay. The walk to the beach is beautiful, there is a place to sit and watch whales, the stairs down to the beach are a little rough for someone that doesn't have great balance. But if you are an outdoors person it's nothing. Being next to the devil's punchbowl and the light house is a great location. I would definitely come back again.

Walking distance to beach. Amazing food close by. Tucked away and quiet, but easy to find. Easy to unload car... can pull up right next to front door.

We love Otter Rock, Oregon. Nice and quiet. And friendly people. This little cabin was great. It takes me back in time.

This unit used to have a king bed downstairs, it is now a queen and bedding looks tired. Kitchen was short on dishes, everything was fine, not great.

Nice loft, perfectly placed right on the beach.

This was a great location-part way between Depoe Bay and Newport. It was a short walking distance to the beach.

Close to the beach, but neglected
The positive: location to the beach and privacy couldn’t be better. The normal bed mattresses and carpet look newer.
The negative: the sofa bed was broken and unusable, as well as the mattress being old, beat up, and the mattress cover stained, threadbare, and dirty. I contacted Vacasa and they suggested I go buy an air mattress for the property and they would reimburse me.
Doing that, I needed to move a dresser in the loft to make space for the air mattress and discovered what I believe to be the traces of a prior bug infestation, but cannot be sure (perhaps that explains the new carpet and mattresses). I do know that there were random black specks in the kitchen pantries and shelving that resembled coffee grounds, which is what cockroach feces looks like.
Also, the mattress cover on the loft bed was stained and there was something dried into the carpet next to the bed. It looked like dried vomit or spit up, but could have been something else (I didn’t get close enough to decide).
The bottom foot of the walls in the downstairs bedroom were lined with mold and the in-wall heater grates in the bedroom and bathroom were caked in dirt and mold.
The shower is only usable 30 seconds at a time before water comes backing up out of the drain, bringing up with it whatever is down in the pipes. I found I could shower by getting wet, turning off the water so the drain could clear and soaping up during that time, then turning in the water for another 20-30 seconds before the water backed up again - repeating this process several times until rinsed. Definitely not a nice showering experience. I didn’t contact Vacasa about this because the “local team” that Vacasa said was reviewing the other things never bothered to contact me or reach out or anything, so I just gave up and figured out how to make the stay work for my family since everything else was booked up in town.
Overall, I would love to stay at the Alpine Chalets again, IF things were cleaned up, working properly, and an exterminator came through. The location is great, but the stress from everything else and the hassle of not wanting to bring my luggage inside the house now that I’m home for fear of bringing in uninvited guests or their eggs is a major bummer.

Clean and cozy
I had a wonderful experience exploring Newport and the beautiful Oregon coastline. This was my first experience renting a BnB and I’m very happy I did! Coming “home” to this cozy condo was the cherry on top of a lovely weekend getaway. The condo was clean, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. It was all very professional yet very cozy and homey. 5-stars all around!

Good location
It was clean but run down. Screen door didn't close pepperoni properly and the window shades were all broken. Loft is neat but location of stairs make it difficult to carry any luggage up there. Only bathroom inside main bedroom if sharing with another couple. Short walk to the beach. Need to drive 10 minutes for nearest restaurants but then there are options.

Great relaxing space! Easy walk down to the beach. The chalet was clean, and had everything we needed! The only thing that could have been improved is the key to the house was loose. It would be nice to have a key chain. But very minor inconvenience. We will be staying here again!

We Made the Best of It
We walked into a musty, pervasive odor which permeated our clothes and luggage. The furniture and carpeting are stained, the towels and wash cloths after one use smelled of mildew.
We were provided with only one dishcloth for 4 days of washing and drying dishes. Some of the window blinds are broken and not all the windows had screens, which we opened to air out each time we were inside.
The walk to the beach is short but steep and beach was lovely.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Otter Rock but would choose a different place to stay next time.

Decent, basic lodging, great location
Half loft #6 is fine for a family of three or four. Stairs to the loft can be tricky to navigate in the middle of the night for a bathroom run, linens are a bit scratchy, kitchen has the basics. The primary reason for staying here is for the location - just above Otter Rock, close to Mo's (which is currently closed), and close to Newport.

Nice stay at the Oregon coast.
The Chalet was cozy, kitchen extremely stocked with appliances, dishes, cookware, etc. The beach was so close, convenient, didn't have to drive or park to enjoy.

Don't stay here.
Needs to be updated. Barely any wifi signal sometimes none. One frying pan with a broken handle. Also no dish rack no dishwasher no air condition . No screens on loft window or bathroom. Let vacasa know how unhappy I was offered no partial refund even. Came all the way from Minnesota to relax and ended up more stressed.

Loved it!
The loft was perfect! Everything was neat and clean, staff was very friendly in our brief interaction, the area is quiet and the sound of the waves made it a very relaxing atmosphere. Will be recommending to all of our friends and family and definitely staying again!

Good location, easy to find at 130am (late arrival). Quiet, cozy, comfortable.

Cozy spot right next to our favorite beach!
This is my family of three’s second time staying at a chalet here. We absolutely love the charm of the units and the location is unbeatable. The grounds are kept neat and tidy, which makes for great evenings sitting outside watching the sunset. The inside isn’t overly fancy, but it’s nice and clean and has plenty of room for us. We look forward to coming back!

Alpine chalet 6
I have been coming here since I have been a kid. I always love seeing the updated and changes in decor. They added a dehumidifier upstairs which helped keep the heat down a bit. Will gladly be back again.

Was what we were looking for - but....
The place is older but cute and definitely quiet which is what we were looking for. I really wanted to like this place, but the lack of detail in the cleanliness of the unit made our stay not as relaxing or pleasant as we had hoped. The important stuff was clean (kitchen, bathroom, bedding) but the cobwebs and dust above the curtains, dirt on and in the storage ottoman, and stains in the carpet were off-putting. The toilet took some creative jiggling to flush properly and there was a smell of stale smoke that hits you as soon as you walk in the door. It stayed in our clothes until I was able to launder them after getting home. Fixing the toilet and changing the carpet would go a long way to improving the rating.
Pro: On the upside, the booking, directions, and getting in and out we're all easy.
Con: We booked our stay just before the Oregon forest fires began. The week before our stay, the fires were raging and the area just north of Otter Rock was at a level three evacuation. I emailed the company to find out what would happen if our stay was cancelled, but never got a response.

We'll be back!
This is our third time staying in Alpine Chalet #6 with our family of four, and we plan to continue vacationing here. The kitchen has everything you could need, there's private beach access, and this year there was a pair of bald eagles in the trees above the chalet.

Alpine Chalets
We have been staying at Alpine Chalets for years. Great beach -Beverly Beach. Chalets are comfortable, easy walk to the beach. Well taken care of for older units. We will be back!

Wet floor
Over all the home was very nice. The reason I'm not giving the full 5 stars is because, while staying in the chalet the weather was not your typical coastal rains. Well it rained so much and the wind blew so hard that water actually started seeping in from under the door frame, and from under the edge of the wall. Luckily none of my personal belongings were damaged. It would have been a catastrophe if the water made it all the way to the extension cord on the floor.

Generally a nice place
The property location was wonderful. The beach access was great. The cabin was furnished reasonably. Given the apparent age of the place I was not surprised to see a few things that were not in tip top shape like the storm door that wouldn’t close due to a bent frame (I just gave it a shove and it fit well enough from then on). The screen was missing in the upstairs window making it hard to ventilate the room up there. The shower surround seams were black with mold under the caulking, something that could easily be fixed without incurring much expense so no good excuse for that problem. The bedroom carpet is stained, not sure if it would clean up or just needs to be replaced. We did enjoy ourselves. I think the problems should be addressed, but it wouldn’t necessarily stop me from considering the place in the future if the price was right.

Cozy home for small family
Comfortable, if small, A frame cottage/cabin up the hill from the Coast, best for a small family (4 or fewer) or good friends. Reservation was easy, information about check-in and check-out was timely and clear. Vacasa was easy to work with.

Not as advertised
The pictures on the website are far different than what we stayed in. Upon opening the door your hit with a very musty odor. We had to open windows and get a scented candle to help with the smell. The 2 recliners are worn beyond repair. We had to put towels on them just to use them. Wifi signal was terrible. There is no ocean view from our unit Had to wash the glasses as they had greasy finger prints on them I can not recommend this place to anyone else and I’m not interested in staying here again.
I wish I could send pictures.

It’s a great spot, cute place. Clean, very friendly reservation staff and maintenance man.
A bit too expensive for a winter stay. That being, said this chalet was as advertised and very cozy.

Great Family Get Away
Chalet #6 was perfect for our family of 5. There were 2 adults and 3 kids and my kids loved the upper loft. The kitchen was tastefully done and the space allowed for good family time! It's a short and beautiful walk to the ocean. Grounds were really well kept. We will definitely be returning. 😊

Great Family Get Away!
We booked this adorable Chalet for a family weekend and enjoyed every minute. The Chalet was perfect for my family of 5 and the kids loved seeking up in the loft. The grounds are perfect for walking along the beach, having a night fire. My little girl loved swinging by the ocean. This place was very well kept and had everything we needed. The care taker Lance even stopped by to welcome us and give us tips for food activity's etc. great guy! 5 stars we will be back for sure! 😊❤️
