The location, the view, the layout of the property itself, the VRBO’s owners responsiveness - you can’t find anything better. The sunsets are incredible and the walk to Waikiki is very easy. Runs around Diamondhead are a special tradition. And the neighbors are lovely.

This is our 2nd time spending our family vacation in this vintage beach house. The sunsets, access to the surf, general location, and living on the ocean are truly remarkable. The home is old (don’t expect luxury) however the funkiness is charming. AC in all the rooms is a big plus. You will love this property if you enjoy the sound of the ocean and keep your expectations for the home itself moderate.

We loved our stay here so much and made so many amazing memories as a family. As a surfer, it was perfect. Got to surf Tonggs when I was too lazy to go anywhere else. Awesome snorkeling for the kids. So lovely to walk into Waikiki. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Overall - this house it really cool. This property is all about the view, location, and access to surf. The nightly sunsets and listening to the crashing surf on the beach wall were a dream. We were sad to leave the nightly happy hours and BBQ's. This house is tucked away from Waikiki but still close enough to enjoy the surrounding neighborhood restaurants and beaches. It is ideal for a surfer as there are plenty of waves right out front. The house itself was old but charming (e.g: the living room floor is literally slanting (falling) toward the ocean which gave me a bit of vertigo for a couple days). Besides the slanted floor, they have done an excellent job making this house feel like home with functional laundry, A/C, kitchen/dishwasher -- it was well stocked with all the essentials. Parking is easy. Also of note, there is a renter in the front, but he was quiet and out of sight. I can't wait to go back.

Our family had a wonderful time. So close to Waikiki and about 20-30 minutes to everything we wanted to do. Nicki was great to work with.

We had the most amazing time and just loved our view from the lanai, we sat out every night and watched the sailboats and surfers. This home is the perfect place to stay in Waikiki and we would have loved to have stayed longer. Nikki was a pleasure to work with and even had a great welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. Everything you might need is stocked in the home and I can’t recommend this home enough for anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful stay near Honolulu without the hustle and bustle of the crowds - Did I mention a view of the ocean from one window and Diamond Head from another!

We visited the "Surf Hideaway during the month of June 2018. my Granddaughter 18 months, my daughter, son, Grandmother & great Grandmother 84, so four generations to please. Flying colors though, from the first moment we arrived and greeted with an Aloha basket of delicious Hawaiian goodies to a very very clean & well, maintained home. First class all the way; bedding, towels linens. large kitchen had more than everything we needed.
The location and view, then the sound of the surf. The house is literally on the reef
We could watch the kids snorkel, surf, paddle around from the living room.
So, we loved the whole experience and will return. I must also complement Nikki and her management crew for taking such good care of use. The fifth star of our 5 Star vacation

I don't have enough superlatives to describe the location and setting of this property. It is a large home situated in a quiet residential area, but only a short walk into Waikiki along the oceanfront park. Also a short walk to the aquarium and the zoo.The ocean is only about a metre from the back fence of the property for swimming and snorkeling and the surf break Tonggs is directly out the front of the property with 2 other breaks (Graveyards and Suicides) a longer but easy paddle away. There are nice walks up to the cliffs above Diamond Head Beach and even up into the Diamond Head Crater (about 45 min walk to the bottom of the crater trail). The property itself is a charming old family home that our family of eight found incredibly comfortable to live in. I guess if you were looking for a shiny ultra-modern chrome and glass type decor then this house might not be your cup of tea, but then you'd probably be better staying in a hotel in Waikiki if that was the experience you want. I think being an established home has allowed many decades to get everything just perfect on the property. Just in the back yard alone there are 4 separate living areas where people could sit, eat, read, play cards or just look at the incredible view without bothering each other and yet be big enough to have all eight us together if we wanted. Each area is better at different times of day, allowing for optimum sun and breeze at all times. The large living area inside is similarly able to have 3 separate zones (one for TV, one for quiet reading, and a dining table) so that people could either be together , or not, as they chose. Our family spent most time (when we weren't out surfing or snorkeling or swimming) in the outside undercover sitting area where we had most of our breakfasts, lunches and quite a few dinners just soaking up the view. In practical terms there is a nice big kitchen, the beds are comfy and the bathrooms are OK. There is a BBQ with gas provided, and also some nice touches like beach towels, snorkeling gear and a body board + kids sand toys all provided. There were a few very minor maintenance issues that were attended to very promptly by Nikki, the property manager, who was absolutely amazing to deal with. She was very friendly, helpful and efficient. In summary our family absolutely loved our time here and would recommend it to anyone who wants a laid back holiday in a comfortable atmosphere at a stunning location.

Incredible place!
I stayed here with my family and some friends for a month, and it was absolutely awesome! It's hard to describe how excellent of a location this house is in, especially if you're not familiar with Diamond Head and Waikiki. You are in a relatively quiet neighborhood and literally a few minute walk from all of the amenities of Waikiki, including the zoo, aquarium, multiple parks, and the beach. As for the house itself, it was exactly what we needed. We have young kids, and there was plenty of room for them to run around, and we could spread out with not only our family but our guests as well with the four bedrooms. The house is obviously older, which isn't usually my style, but it's all been remodeled and every amenity is there. It has a lot of character, as the pictures show. The patio's view is amazing...we spent so much time out there watching surfers (you can access the water from two different locations right from the back), tons of sailboats and airplanes taking off from Honolulu. What the pictures don't show is that you get an amazing sunset every day as the property faces almost directly West. It also comes with masks, snorkels, a cooler, folding chairs for the beach, towels, etc...really everything you need. We really loved this place, and would come back in a heartbeat!
