Elkhorn Cottage: Charming Home, Beautiful Views, Close to town and RMNP, Wi-Fi
This unique property can be rented as 2B/2B or 3B/3B. There is a separate (detached) guest suite (Moose Room) that has a nice bedroom, bathroom and small deck. Please see picture of house plans for layout. The property can accommodate 2-6 guests. The garage is not included in the rental.
This beautiful mountain cottage sits on 1.8 acres with amazing views of Longs Peak, Twin Sisters, Old Man Mountain and Fall River. The original founders of the Elkhorn Lodge built the home in 1934, hence the name Elkhorn Cottage. While there have been many updates, this home boasts of originals giving it the perfect cozy mountain feel. The cottage has hardwood floors, large stone gas fireplace and a fully stocked “retro” style kitchen. The bedrooms are large and the ceilings are tall. The main cottage is 2B/2B and there is a separate guest suite that is 1B/1B (Moose Room). A large deck sits across the entire back of the home that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views. It’s about a half-mile walk to the downtown strip via a sidewalk at the end of the street and a short 3.8-mile drive to the less crowded Fall River RMNP entrance.
The master bedroom has a King size bed and French doors that open up to the large deck. The other bedroom in the main house has a queen size bed with 2 large windows. The bedroom in the guest suite (Moose Room) has a queen size bed, a full bathroom with a tub/shower, and a small private deck. The guest suite has a mini fridge and coffee maker. All bedrooms have walk in closets and TV/DVD players. The Moose Room will NOT be rented to another party separately from the main house.
There is a Samsung 50” class 8 series LED 4K UHD smart TV in the family room (inside the armoire) so that guests can use their own subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu etc. The house has BASIC cable TV and it has great WiFi.
Elkhorn Cottage is close to many popular wedding venues including The Stanley Hotel, SkyView at Fall River Village and Black Canyon Inn.

A note about trip insurance...2020 was an exceptionally difficult year for our vacation rentals. We went through a pandemic where we were shut down and lost about 4 months of revenue and in the fall we dealt with unprecedented wildfires where the entire town of Estes was evacuated for several days. We actually didn't know if we would have a home to go back to or if any of our properties would survive the wildfires. As the owner of the home, I have done my best to make this house a home away from home for guests. I believe it is the traveler's responsibility to get travel insurance for their trip. It is not the owner's responsibility to give the traveler a refund or to re-book their trip due to unforeseen circumstances. If I re-book your trip for a later date, then I am losing income because now another guest cannot book it. I simply cannot give refunds or re-book due to any circumstances in which the traveler does not make the trip. It's very simple...GET TRAVEL INSURANCE! This protects the traveler and the owner in natural disaster situations that include but is not limited to pandemics, wildfires, floods, blizzards, car accidents, death or death of a family member, illness, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, asteroids, alien invasions, zombie attacks, war, terrorists attacks, riots or any other act of God. Please just get trip insurance and if you decide not to, then do not get upset with the owner for not giving a refund or re-booking. This is my livelihood and I thank you kindly for your understanding and cooperation.
A note about the fireplace...I have done my best to write out directions on how to use the remote but it seems that guests just end up pushing buttons and not following the directions so it causes the settings to get messed up. Therefore, this is the disclaimer that the fireplace may or may not work and there isn't anyone that can just run right over and try to fix it.

This is such a great place. We loved that it was private and is an individual home. It is also close to downtown Estes and walkable if you do not mind exercise. Entrance to RMNP is also very close!!! Back porch is amazing with great views. There is some construction going on that you can see while sitting on porch but that is no fault of the owner. Kim is a GREAT host and responds quickly to anything. A lot of personal touches and supplies.
Would definitely stay here again and also recommend it to anyone.

Beautifil views from a comfortable, cozy home away from home! Walkable to town but close to the Red Route bus stop. Very responsive, communicative host, Kim who even stopped by to fix the tv! We had a relaxing, comfortable visit!! Thanks Kim!!!

The Elkhorn Cottage is a real treasure in Estes Park. We have stayed in vacation rentals all over the country and none have been as special as this one. The owner's attention to detail is what makes your visit so special. You will want for nothing when you stay in this cottage, she has thought of everything! It's an amazing rental!

We rode bikes and motorbikes in RMNP. Great place to stay, easy access to the park and room for our stuff. Especially appreciated the 3BR.
What a great trip!

We had a great stay and cottage is close to Rocky Mountain National Park & center of the town of Estes Park.

The location of this house is prefect for a visit to Estes Park. We were able to easily access all areas we planned to visit from this house. It is in a quiet neighborhood and was clean. Kim was responsive when I contacted her.

I loved this property so much. I felt like I was a guest in someone’s home. Loved the decor and all the little details. Beds were cozy, showers had good water pressure, kitchen was fully stocked! Location was perfect and it was so nice to sit out on the deck and listen to the water. Didn’t get lucky enough to see elk in the yard but saw a cute bunny and lots of birds. Communication was also great and the hosts are super friendly. Would definitely stay here again and hope to one day soon!

Everything was awesome! Property description was completely accurate.
If i had to give one negative, I suggest the mattress in the guest cottage gets replaced. Very uncomfortable.
But overall a great experience

My husband spent Thanksgiving week at Elkhorn Cottage. The house was exactly as pictured and described. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The views are incredible and we saw quite a bit of wildlife from the back porch. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit that is back there. We did get a little more snow than us Floridians could handle so we couldn’t spend as much time back there as we would have liked, but the time that we did have was very enjoyable. The fireplace inside made up for the time that we couldn’t be outside. We felt very safe and secure while we were there. We would definitely stay there again!

Wonderful place! Wonderful location!

Minutes to downtown but feels private. What to say about the house, nicely updated but but retains so many of the original features. Just beautiful and so relaxing. As a person with asthma could really appreciate the lack of any musty old odors or perfumes. Hated to leave, both agreed was a house we could live in forever.

Clean property. Northwest bedroom mattress was broken down. Second bathroom/shower very small.
Better instructions for TV use. Could not find any local channels.
Kitchen very well equipped.
Great location to downtown. Red notebook very useful. Add info on medical facility location.
Driveway needs repair and better markings.

Gorgeous location with view of Long’s peak. Elk and deer in yard periodically. 6 minutes from Rocky Mountain National park. Generally clean and washer/dryer a plus. 3rd bed/bath near garage and separate from main house is a bit small. Very rustic (old mountain cabin). Only part of stove and oven works but what does work is acceptable for meal preparation.

We went up here with friends (four of us in total). The place was just right, clean and comfortable and furnished perfectly for the house and location. The deck and views are fabulous. Beds were comfortable and everything was just right for us. I would definitely book again.

I ran a bed and breakfast for many years so I am quite picky. This home was exceptionally clean! The linens and amenities were luxurious. The location was perfect. The views of the mountains and the sounds of the river made it so relaxing. I would recommend this place for sure. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay close to town walking distance to most places. Enjoyed watching the elk and mule deer in the backyard. Miss the cool weather already!

The way it is appointed is perfect for a mountain community. The proximity to town and RMNP is great. While driving around i could find no other location or property that would have been better 😎

The moment we pulled up to the house we were "greeted" by an elk checking us out - that was a great start to our RMNP trip!
We really enjoyed our stay at Elkhorn Cottage. The location was perfect - close to the park entrance and downtown Estes Park. The cottage was very homey and comfy. We definitely appreciated the cooler that was left for our use in the park!
Communication with the host was great, and checkin/checkout was very easy. Definitely would stay again!

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your home. We loved every minute of it. The moose room was the best and we loved the view. We look forward to visiting again.

Amazing location with awesome views. Enjoyed grilling and reveling on the days activities in the evening on the deck. I would highly recommend the Elkhorn Cottage. The owners were super responsive throughout the process.

The house was very clean and comfortable. There were 6 of us so we used the separated bedroom space as well as the house. Seating was a little tight at times for 6 but there were additional options for seating. It was a rainy weekend but we were able to enjoy time on the deck and the extra throw blankets came in handy. We didn’t see as many elk as we hoped on the property but there were lots in other places. Would definitely stay here again.

The Elkhorn Cottage is very comfy and cozy with all of the amenities one could ask for!! It is very close to downtown Estes and the entrance of Rocky Mountain Park! It was a perfect vacation for my two kids and two family friends and myself!!! Loved It!! Thank You!! 😊

We've stayed here before. LOVE the property, its charm and views. Feels like home.
Only hiccup was the toilet paper was not not stocked and we had to buy some. Other than that, it was perfect. We'll be back often.

We loved this cabin. It was very comfortable staying there. I loved it. The scenery is great. And there were elk almost everyday on the property. It was so beautiful.

My wife and I stayed for 4 days (in June) as a home base for outdoor adventures in RMNP.
The location is unbeatable. Easy access to the two main roads through town made travel to trailheads very easy. Easy drive to park gates. Super easy walk to downtown stores and restaurants, or catch the free trolley that stops 50 yards away.
The house itself was very clean and comfortable. Surprisingly roomy. Multiple bathrooms and a washer/dryer made living very convenient.
This house will definitely be the first place we look for our next trip to Estes Park.

The house is very old and is very inviting. It’s in a super location. Everything we needed was in the house. The gas log fireplace was great. It snowed while we were there and it was beautiful.

Very nice property, very clean. Kitchen is a little tight if cooking with additional people but we’ll- stocked.

An outstanding 3 bedroom and 3 full bath house. Furnishings, decorations and bedding were all very nice and comfy. Easy walk to downtown. Kitchen was well equipped and plenty of room for setting around the dining table. The only small issue was the TV remote was missing a battery and the laundry detergent bottle was empty. But no problem buy at Safeway. I will definitely stay here again when I’m in Estes Park!!!

This is the perfect property for your Estes Park visit! It is in a quiet neighborhood while still a short walk to town. The house is extremely comfortable with the amenities that you need. We saw 2 elk in the morning right outside the house! We would stay here again on return trips to Estes.

Elkhorn cottage is situated in a perfect spot. Close yet far from restaurants and shops and close to Rocky Mountain Park. The home was cozy with lovely Mountain View. Every member of our family agreed this was the best place we have stayed!

Our group are all over 70 & the house reminded us of childhood with antiques & little things we grew up with. The owner is very nice to deal with. We would definitely stay again.

Great lodging with most anything you could have needed. Clean and well stocked. Great restaurants and shopping close. Rocky Mountains are awesome and close. Other attractions close by. The wildlife in and around the house was tremendous, elk, deer and other small creatures. Can’t think of anything to improve this site!! Hope to be back
