Location is the best, you can achieve everything around: bank of the Ganga, all best cafes around, you can enjoy Ganga view all the time.
Thank you so much to the receptionist - Dinesh, this guy was very helpful, and was able to manage any issues immediately!
Service in the restaurant was awesome, food is delicious!
There were some regular misunderstandings about which beds in the dorm were occupied and which were not. It would be nice to improve it.

We booked for two nights in different rooms. The deluxe rooms are totally great. The standard ones are not so much. We had to shift to standard room because we decided to extend the stay and deluxe rooms were expensive by then.
The size of the standard room wasn't quite big. But no complaints considering price and excellent location.

I am having an exceptional stay at Hotel Shalom, Rishikesh. The mesmerizing views, especially of the Ganga Ji river, provided a serene backdrop. The strategic location made exploring Rishikesh convenient.
The host's warmth and attentiveness added a personal touch to the experience. The cleanliness and artful interiors showcased a commitment to quality. What sets Hotel Shalom apart is its affordability – a budget-friendly gem without compromising on excellence. For those seeking a tranquil retreat with a great location, friendly hosts, and stunning views, Hotel Shalom is an ideal choice. I highly recommend it for a memorable and enriching stay in the spiritual heart of Rishikesh.
Bathroom was bit wet all the time due to some leakage. Not a big issue though.

In the worst way possible: WOW.
To call this hostel shambolic is an offense to shambolic hostels.
Avoid at all costs.
Where do we begin? Shall it be at the lost laundry, or the cockroaches?
The flooding, or the black mould?
The insolent manager, or the infideliously flirtatious staff member?
We stayed in what they called a private "Deluxe" bedroom. If my mother had wheels, she would have been a bike. (That's for you, fellow brits xx)
I hardly believe a four-storey hostel with many rooms doesn't have a dryer to use during the wet season or use an external company.
Personal highlight was having to organise their filthy and damp laundry room for us to simply sift through other people's knickers.
The smelly threadbare towels did come in handy when our room flooded and we had to mop it up ourselves.
My asthmatic jumped for sheer joy as she discovered the black mould infestation. Her hacking cough has never echoed quite so deep.
Objectively speaking, there is an upside to this unique hostel: they accept pets in the rooms!
Pets we weren't even aware would be joining us!
And by pets, I mean cockroaches :D
Yes. Little, ickle, fickle cockroaches.
To prevent the costs of PTSD therapy, book that other hostel you're looking at.

Great location with spectacular Ganges views. We got upgraded to a better room for no extra charge, which was a lovely gesture. The room we stayed in (I think the superior double in the end) was spacious, had nice decorative touches such us a fur rug/art above the bed and comfy chairs. The towels provided were also very large and plush! The room had a door out to a shared balcony with a view over the Ganga, which was lovely to have open during the day to listen to the sound of the river and people having fun rafting down it. The shower was hot and had strong pressure, the bathroom was spacious and we were provided with shampoo/shower gel/handwash/moisturiser which is super useful for long-term travellers like us. We had no rooms to the sides of us so it was relatively quiet at night too. Staff at reception were very helpful and there's a nice little cafe overlooking the river in the hostel, with books and games.
Unfortunately it rained heavily one day we were staying, and lots of water came under the balcony door into the room! Some clothes hangers for the open wardrobe would have been useful. Nothing to do with the hostel themselves, but when we stayed the Lakshman Jhula (bridge) itself was closed for construction works, meaning to get to the East bank of the river we had to get a small passenger boat - only an issue if you are short on time, because the boat waits until there are enough people in it to make the crossing (sometimes 30-40 mins at quiet times). Not an issue if you can go with the flow and adopt a slower pace!

Unprofessional action by the management team, they cancel my booking.com booking after I stay and complete the booking. I am unable to download my invoices.

Area around the backpackers...near cafes and lakshman jhula
Veey confusing and minimal signage to entrance...
