This was our first trip to Bald Head Island and we loved it. The home is spacious and beautiful. Communication with the owners was excellent.
We will be back!

Our family of 13 stayed at "A Shore Thing" June 15-22 and had a fantastic time on the Island and in the home. The home is very spacious, yet warm and inviting. Our tightknit family loves to cook together and "gather in the kitchen" and this home is perfect for that. The very large and well equipped / stocked kitchen and huge dining table allowed us to unwind and relax after a long day at the beach and BHI Club over homecooked meals. The house location has a short-cut walk to the beach and is a very short golf cart ride away as well. It is our experience that you really only needed to bring your clothes and personal items as the house provides all you'll need to enjoy a week at the beach - including three golf carts in excellent shape, beach items such as chairs, and umbrellas, and all house amenities to make it feel like home. The hosts were easy to communicate with, although we didn't need a thing while staying at the home. We would not think twice about staying at this property again - it was a great experience.

Everything was more than what we could hope for- the owners are delightful and the property, location, and amenities were perfect for our needs. We could walk to the beach within minutes to capture the beauty each morning provided. We will be back again- hopefully with our children and grand children.

This house was great for our needs. The owners were very responsive and we would certainly stay here again. Tons of room to spread out and a great location too.

We really enjoyed our stay on BHI. The Island is so beautiful. A Shore Thing is a beautiful home and it accommodated our 15 family members easily and comfortably. The beds and the showers were great, however, it was really dusty, there were dust clumps even on the walls. I guess its not easy to clean in between guests but it really needs like a good deep cleaning. My little nephew has a lot of severe allergies and we did our best to clean so his allergies wouldn't be triggered. There were also a few issues but Annemarie and John were very helpful and took care of contacting maintenance/repair. They also, were very prompt in replying to my emails. The only other thing that bunmed us out some was that one of the Golf Carts wasn't charging right and left us stranded 12 min from the house when we were driving around the Island for a family photography shoot and then another time on our last night when we were going to dinner at BHI Club. Both times it was very inconvenient as you can imagine such a large family we needed all 3 Golf Carts and the times it kept breaking down were in the evening so we couldnt even rent one because the rental place closed at 4 pm. The first time Annemarie and John had it towed to a repair shop and they returned it to us saying it was fixed but obviously it wasn't. It was frustrating trying to deal with that and get everyone where we needed to go. But we went to have a relaxing vacation and for the most part it was and we enjoyed our stay.

Nice house, accommodations are tight. Spotty cell service. Great access to East Beach and Shoals Club.

We just stayed for a week in this wonderful home! We have rented houses in BHI for 12 years now and this is the first house we have rented that we want to continue to go to both because how amazing the house and location are, and how it also accommodates are growing family. We always go to East Beach, and the fact that there is a boarded walkway close by all the way to the beach was fabulous! We didn’t have to trudge through the sand to get to the steps that go over the dunes. It was probably a five or six minute walk. Two members of our family prefer the pool and walked daily to the Shoals club, which was also right there. We love doing activities at the turtle Conservancy, and that again was right there. And we absolutely love Mike’s bites Which has the best Italian ice! We frequent that as well and it is right there. I haven’t even gotten to the amazing house. Six bedrooms 6 1/2 baths everyone had their own bathroom, large living area opening into the kitchen, I have never been anywhere with a more stocked and equipped kitchen than this house ever(including my own!). They had everything including a rice cooker, crockpot, etc. All the appliances and utensils… everything was high-quality! My son and his wife love espresso, and they even had an espresso pot for the stove(exactly what they use at home!). The house is aesthetically beautiful as well. Finally, the owners are so responsive to any question we had. The perfect house!

There were 15 of us that stayed at 209 Portsmouth Way. We had a wonderful time. Property suited our needs very well. The 3 golf carts were a must!

Lovely, spacious home with great amenities & attention to detail. Our family of originally 5, now grown to14, has enjoyed BHI vacations for 32 years. This house & all interactions with owners definitely 5 STARS! Great location another bonus. Love love love this house & John & Annmarie. Would definitely rent again. Absolutely everything we needed from ample hot water for so many people to great A/C to state of the art kitchen appliances & gadgets. Beach chairs & toys & bikes too. Spotlessly clean. Kids bunk room was so fun for our “littles” with parents’ bedroom close by. Two masters, 1up/1 down was great. Oh & almost forgot !THE PORCHES!

We had so much fun reconnecting with family from all over east coast. It was our first trip to BHI. Can’t wait to plan another trip! This home has such comfy beds, linens and an amazing kitchen. Weather was too cold but outdoor porches look amazing!

Wonderful house for large family gathering. I loved that each of the 6 bedrooms offered a private bathroom and most had access to one of the beautiful porches! The home was also well stocked throughout.

This is the second time we have stayed at this property. The homeowners are quick responders and have a beautiful property. We would consider another stay.

The property is tucked away in the woods at Cape Fear Station, and there is a beautiful path (great for family pictures) within 0.10 miles of the house that takes you to the beach and Shoals Club. The owners are very responsive, and were understanding with the few issues we had. Small, but the range hood has temperamental lighting, and we fixed a golf cart that just got lifted and the front drive shaft needed tightening (not the fault of the owners). They were extremely grateful and accommodating. Plus, having a third golf cart is a great touch and super helpful when more than two families are using the house.
We stay at BHI annually and this house, like all the others, has roaches at night, especially on the first floor. The owners indicated it was recently sprayed, but some made it back to the mainland with our luggage.
The owners do a great job of outlining in detail those items at the house for our use to include appliances, spices, etc. I would recommend you bring extra paper towels, Lysol wipes and spices you enjoy on a daily basis as many are picked over. Also, we purchased plastic cups and paper plates for the kids to use so to not have to use any glassware. The refrigerator and ice maker are awesome and very spacious. The kitchen is great to cook in with the griddle and six burners, and gas is a huge plus! The beach towels were great. Luggage racks would be a great touch to keep items off the floor.
We were disappointed that the floors were not mopped very well, in which we spoke with the owners directly.

This is an older home in need of repair. Notified the owner of several issues and they were responsive. However for the money you are paying we were all disappointed with the quality and broken items. Location is nice but house needs work.

It’s A Shore Thing
Beautiful property that is well appointed. Gourmet kitchen was terrific. Bedrooms were all beautiful. The crofter above the garage was terrific. Tons of outdoor seating on decks. Spacious and convenient to the beach! Great communication with the owners. 11 of us used the property and it worked out well.

A Shore Thing
We arrived a bit early and the cleaning crew was still there we introduced ourselves and left our belongings on the porch. Golf carts were charged and we took off exploring. Returned at 4:15 cleaning crew was still there. At 5:30 I took the crew to ferry terminal as there was no transportation arrangements for them. No big deal. Upon return we noticed beds had sheets folded under the pillows, we had to make beds, showers had black sludge and bathrooms need to be cleaned, we swept the house on the main floor. Garbage was over flowing and trash had to be picked up outside. By Monday we couldn’t figure out the thermostat and would default to 75. Gas grill would not light we reached out to owners and they were made aware of all our concerns and already knew of some of the problems. All in all the place is in need of cosmetic repairs, a good cleaning and updates there was plenty of bathrooms and beds. For our family of 14 it was a good week at the beach.

Great BRB
We had 14 people stay here with all age ranges and the house was amazing. Plenty of room, multiple king size beds, two master bedrooms, crofter and open-concept kitchen/living/dining. The owners were very responsive too. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Glorious week!
We loved our week at A Shore Thing! Perfect location for the beautiful beach and market access. The house had all we needed; we have never stayed at a better equipped property.
Thanks so much for sharing your home with us and being so accommodating!

Very satisfied.
Often when we rent vacation homes, we find that the pictures and descriptions are more glowing than the property actually is. That is not what we experienced here. Any house is going to endure some natural wear and tear. This property met our expectations. We would gladly consider this home for a return visit.

A wonderful home
Annemarie and John are extraordinary hosts. They were responsive, helpful and welcoming throughout our entire stay. They added an immeasurable quality to our visit.
The home is very spacious and it easily accommodated our family for a wedding week. The large kitchen, dining room and family room made all of our entertaining easy and convenient. The kitchen was particularly well stocked.
It was wonderful to have access to three golf carts and the garage is filled with every imaginable item for a week at the beach.
I recommend this home without any reservation and again, Annemarie and John make this an even more delightful experience.

Absolutely marvelous stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful property. I do suggest that the area rugs be cleaned as soon as possible. Only thing missing was a cork screw for our wine bottles. Bought one on the island so all good. Did not leave. Thanks so much for the stay.

Perfect location
Room for everyone, comfortable beds, great amenities, outdoor porches/decks were superb. Great access to beaches. Slight snafu with missing keys to let us in, but John was over in a jiffy to help out. We appreciated the constant and clear communication before our vacation stay!

Shore to Please
Our stay at Shore to Please was excellent! The house was beautiful, & Annemarie was on top of her communication with us prior/throughout.
The house was equipped with everything we needed for a pleasant stay, and the individual bathrooms in each room made for an easy location for a group of 12 of us to be comfortable getting ready for a wedding.
While it was a bit far from the tram (and navigating the island can be complicated), the house was quiet, spacious and only a few steps from the Beach and the Scholls club.
Thanks again for having us!

Absolutely wonderful!
Our group of 11 family members (ages 12 to 88) celebrated my husband's 50th birthday at Shore Thing. There was room for everyone to be perfectly comfortable in this gorgeous home! Perfect location (near the beach and the club). The host, the Marinelli's, were so kind and accommodating and help make our weekend getaway so memorable. Thank you again for everything!

Birthday celebration
Great home for a large group. We enjoyed the island, but the weather was so cold! Golf carts were fun but no enclosures for cold weather made it hard to get out and explore. Would rent again if visiting BHI.

Will definitely look forward to booking with Annemarie and John again. The house is well equipped and the location is great, just a short walk to the beach, park and Turtle Conservancy. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Great house for large gathering
The house has a great set up for entertaining a large group of people. We were specifically looking for a house that could accommodate couples and this fit the bill. Particularly love the kitchen and the very large dining room.

Good as it Gets!
We had a blast at this property. AnneMarie and John were great at communication and ver proactive. They even had a hand written note welcoming us to the house. We will use this property again. Bedrooms were great, tankless water heater was big time with all the people. The kitchen was baller with lots of things needed to cook as well as a wet bar with fridge. And last but not least the crows nest for star gazing!
