About this house rental

Ocean views await in the skylit family room—where you'll be spending most of your time when you're not exploring the beauty of Asilomar Beach and Spanish Bay. Bathed in natural light, this spacious room has golden oak floors, two sofas, a TV, bistro table, and a game table that seats four.
Two bedrooms and a cozy office adjoin the upstairs family room. The first has a Queen bed and a powder room with a vanity sink set in a seagreen glass mosaic countertop. Then there's the Master suite: arched windows facing the sea span the length of the room, which features a fireplace, a King bed, and a bath with a toilet/bidet, walk-in shower, and two separate vanity areas.
Downstairs, there are two gathering places: the living room, with a sectional facing the fireplace, and a cozy sitting room with a large flat screen TV. The kitchen has granite countertops, knotty pine cabinetry, and stainless appliances; the dining area seats twelve at two separate tables.
Two first floor bedrooms (one Queen, and another with a Queen and a trundle bed) share a bath with granite countertops, a scalloped sink, and a tub/shower. The third downstairs bedroom features a King bed, double closets, and a private bath with a tub/shower.
This five bedroom, 3.5 bath home is just two blocks from the beach and is gated from the street. There's a play area in the backyard under the large, mature oaks.
NOTE: A guest cottage in the rear of the property may be occupied on rare occasions. It is not part of the house rental, and not available to rent.

Overall, a nice home
Overall, a nice home
Overall the house is very nice. For a house of that size and quality, I would suggest the following: 1. Upgrade the furniture in parts of the house. Some of it is old and tired. 2. The house is a little short on pots and pans for being able to accommodate as many people as it can 3. Curtains upstairs. Curtains would go a long way towards making that room better for most people. They could be added and still keep the appeal of the view from the windows. 4. Door for shower upstairs. To keep the water inside the shower. I would stay at the home again as is but would enjoy it better with a few improvements. Thanks,

A beautiful home, but NO privacy!
A beautiful home, but NO privacy!
Monterey Vacation Rentals was wonderful to work with. The home itself was spacious and comfortable. It’s close to all the activities that are available in Monterey, as well as being in close proximity to the beach. It’s a great value as well, with the rental price being far more reasonable than many in the area. It had plenty of dishes, towels and bedding and we loved the quiet neighborhood. I would say the only drawback is the lack of adequate window coverings in the front of the house and bedrooms. This was a deal breaker for us and we wouldn’t book this home again. The lack of privacy, adequate rest and uninterrupted sleep were not worth it. There are NO window treatments in either of the living areas at the front of the house, so at night everyone who’s walking or driving by can see inside the house. They see your kids playing and what you’re watching on TV. If you have small children and you don’t want folks to see them running around, or if you’re a light sleeper...then this isn’t the place for you. The lower front bedroom has coverings in the bay window, but they’re cellular and let in ambient light from the street, traffic headlights and every time someone turns on the bathroom light in the next room it shines in your face, since the headboard is placed in the bay window. It also has another side window that has just a scarf thrown over a valance, so there’s no feeling of privacy. The lower back bedroom has vertical blinds that definitely didn’t keep the light out. The upstairs master bedroom has no window treatments at all, which affords no privacy whatsoever. There’s also the problem with the morning sun shining on you at 5am to wake up the kids, which is what happened both mornings of our stay in most of the bedrooms; when they usually sleep until 7-7:30am at home in their (darker) bedrooms. This is such a gorgeous place that I am confused as to why the owners wouldn’t invest in adequate window coverings to afford their guests the privacy that they’ve earned, in working hard to save and afford a decent vacation for their family. There seems to be a disconnect between what the owners prefer, and what their guests need to feel comfortable and rest well in their home? Overall, if you’re a group of adults who are deep sleepers and early risers and the lack of privacy doesn’t bother you...then this is a gorgeous and comfortable home to vacation in. Otherwise it’s a hard pass, imho.

The home was very clean and well kept with all the basic necessities you would need. It is a large home with a wonderful backyard and literally 5 mins to the asilomar beach. We enjoyed staying here

Great house for a large family
Great house for a large family
This house is perfect for a large family, and the back yard would make a safe play area for kids. Best of all is the close proximity to the beach and Asilomar--both an easy 10-minute walk.

A lovely weekend
A lovely weekend
We came together from England, Palo Alto and Seattle and had a wonderful weekend with a walk on Asilomar beach, a picnic lunch at Point Lobos and 4 hours at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We had dinners at one table and a puzzle on the other.

This property was absolutely perfect for our family get together. Spacious, clean, convenient and comfortable. Michelle, the primary contact at VRBO rentals, was a delight to work with. We are definitely going back to them if we need to stay in the area again.

Lots of gathering space! Could use a daybed in the master since there is plenty of space. A child then can stay in that room by with parents.
