About this house rental
Rack up your travel miles at Rodanthe’s vacation home, Frequent Flyer! Whether it’s a day at the sandy ocean beach, water activities on the Pamlico Sound, world class fishing, or island exploration, let Frequent Flyer be the hub of your next vacation.
Check your flight plan online with a full video tour and pictures! See what other guests have to say about the Frequent Flyer in the traveler reviews section and don’t forget to like us on Facebook.
Why choose the Frequent Flyer? Because the Frequent Flyer features four bedrooms, each with their own private bath, two with private decks! This fully appointed vacation home boasts spacious living and dining areas, a cook-pleasing kitchen, and expansive decks for incredible views of the Pamlico Sound and breathtaking sunsets. You can access the Sound via a private grassy lawn to swim, fish, or play using the owner-provided kayaks and stand-up paddleboards! The Atlantic Ocean is just a short walk with paved access all the way to the beach. There you can relax all day thanks to owner-provided chairs and umbrellas. There are no long paths across dunes to struggle with on this part of the island. You can stay connected with complimentary internet access or unplug and tour the villages on the owner-provided bikes. Sit back, relax, and make your vacation a first-class experience at the Frequent Flyer.
The Frequent Flyer from a Parent’s Perspective
If you’re like me, “family vacation” brings Chevy Chase and the Griswold’s to mind. Bored kids, an over-packed “family truckster” and expensive meals are just the beginning! I wanted to share why vacationing with my family at The Frequent Flyer takes the National Lampoon out of the equation and makes for not only great family fun but also a real vacation for me.
The ‘man cave’ (aka garage area) of The Frequent Flyer is packed with extras to keep everyone busy! From sand toys to bikes and Kayak’s to stand-up paddleboards, the family will have plenty to do and you won’t have to pack, or worse rent, all of the toys that make life at the beach more fun. There are even beach chairs for the whole family!
From the best tanning deck on the house, I can watch my kids play safely on the beach of the shallow-water Sound. They spend hours trying to catch hermit crabs and minnows while I catch up on my tan and favorite book.
The fully equipped kitchen means we can save a fortune on restaurant meals and my teenagers can eat their late-night cereal and frozen pizza. We save buying the bulky but essential items such as napkins, tin foil, saran wrap, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies because the owner provides them as a convenience. And when you decide to eat out, the local restaurants are family-friendly, reasonably priced, and amazing.
The Frequent Flyer from a Watersport Enthusiast
The Frequent Flyer has a grassy 1 acre Soundfront lot, a perfect rigging area for every water sport. The winds from the S to NNE are ideal for kiting and windsurfing on the Sound side. While it is possible to kiteboard on the inside of the bridge area, you will likely want to access the water west of the bridge. As winds go NE to SE, you can launch directly across the street on the Ocean side.
The house includes a ground floor enclosed ‘man cave’ plus a storage room for equipment. There are equipment racks outside for drying and inside to lock up at night. A half bath and two showers are outside under the house, in addition to a cleaning station with a utility sink and hose. We can clean up our gear so that it is ready the next day. Rigging, launching, and storing your gear is a breeze at the Frequent Flyer.
The ‘man cave’ also has a small bar, and a fridge which adds to the convenience factor. This house really caters to those who want access to the Sound and Ocean for watersports. When the wind is not blowing, the Frequent Flyer still delivers with 6 bikes for cruising the island, 3 kayaks, and 2 stand up paddleboards. And of course, no trip to Hatteras Island is complete without a visit to the local surf shops. Fortunately, Real Watersports, Kitty Hawk Kites, and other shops are all within a few miles.
The Frequent Flyer from a Fishing Perspective
Why settle for the Ocean or Sound when you can have them both! The Frequent Flyer is located on a very narrow segment of the island providing access to both Ocean and Sound fishing. If your target is inlet fishing, “Oregon Inlet” and the “New New Inlet” are just north of the Frequent Flyer.
Convenient storage areas make unloading and storing your gear simple. A deluxe, outdoor fish-cleaning table makes prep a breeze. Bring your casting net as bait can easily be caught along the shore of the Sound. If you prefer to buy bait or need to update your fishing gear, several bait and tackle shops are just down the street including, Hatteras Jack.
Offshore Fishing Charters are available from nearby Oregon Inlet or head south to the Hatteras Inlet. The Frequent Flyer is a dream vacation spot for avid fishing enthusiast and novices alike.
The Rodanthe ‘Jug Handle’ bridge bypasses the S-curves area just north of Rodanthe. The southern terminus of the bridge comes back into land South of the Frequent Flyer, along Pappy lane. To fish near and under the bridge, you can walk from the Frequent Flyer private Sound access lot as the water is shallow. Trout and Drum are plentiful.
Please let me know of any questions or concerns. We look forward to another great season in 2022 and make it our goal to ensure everyone has a 5-star vacation experience.

Frequent Flyer is so insanely well equipped for food, fun, and comfort, you really just need to bring yourselves, arrange for sheets and towels, and fill the fridge. Mark’s the kind of owner who checks in to make sure everything’s ok, and all you can say is what do the red drum like again? Our extended family use every bike, kayak, and inch of the place, and leave baiting our hooks for next year. Soundside Rodanthe is where it’s at.

Annual family vacation. First time to OBX. House was very clean & well suited for our extended family. Frequent Flyer has many amenities as well as a well stocked kitchen. Private bathrooms in every room were definitely a bonus. Paddle boards & kayaks were frequently enjoyed for fishing & exploring the sound. Beach was a short walk from the house. Many laughs & drinks were shared on all three decks. Our stay couldn’t have possibly been more enjoyable. Mark was very attentive & checked in periodically to make sure everyone was enjoying their stay. The only downfall was our week was far too short. Thanks for sharing your home with us. We highly recommend staying at the Frequent Flyer anytime you are in Rodanthe.

What’s to say but that Mark’s crazy-well equipped Frequent Flyer has quickly become an integral part of our annual escape to Rodanthe. As repeat guests who predate the close-by Jug Handle bridge, we might also add that we think nothing is lost here. The beautifully understated bridge somehow elevates those killer sunsets. Biggest relief? No privacy lost for the outside showers. Mark could not have acted w more diligence when the washer that started the week broken had to be replaced. Nice to be in such great hands!

The house was immaculate and perfectly suited for 7 adults as every bedroom had a full bathroom and there was plenty of room in the common areas. We also loved hanging out on the three decks that overlooked the sound. The ocean access was a short walk down the driveway and across the street.
Mark was extremely responsive to any questions. I don’t hesitate to recommend this awesome vacation home.

Our family had a great time at the Frequent Flier! Each of the 4 bedrooms were set up perfectly with their own private bathroom. In addition there is a half bath on the main floor so everyone’s bathroom stayed private. The outdoor showers are super handy and fun. Location was great for walking to the beach. The large dining room table made for great family meals and transformed into a fun game table at night. Mark responds super quickly and is so helpful. We had a great week making family memories here!!

The Frequent Flyer was the perfect vacation spot for our family. Located perfectly between the sound and the ocean, and supplied with all of the "toys" needed for land and sea activities, it was exactly what our family needed for a great week of fun, relaxation, and bonding. We loved it and hope to come back again next year.

Took the whole family out to the Frequent Flyer and had a wonderful time. Kayaks were a blast with easy access to the sound. It rained the week before our stay and a couple times while we were there. The mosquitoes were horrendous, so bring lots of bug spray to get the kayaks to the water. House was a wonderful place to call home for the week. Loved the clotheslines for drying swim suits. Games for evenings after exploring. Beautiful sunsets from the deck. Lots of goodies, well stocked for kids and families, which is something we really appreciate in a rental. Mark checked in and made sure to let us know he was available if we needed anything or had questions.

Excellent communication with owner, who helped us through a few glitches w equipment & air conditioning.
So appreciated the bikes, kayaks & paddle boards. True short walk or ride to beach.
It’s a great home for family . . Bedrooms & gathering around kitchen & family room.
Surface areas clean but a deep clean is needed.
Other than traffic noise Frm bridge, decks & property was great!
Loved the outdoor showers!!!

Our week in Rodanthe was amazing! Frequent Flyer worked perfectly for our group of 8.
We made use of every inch - the kitchen/living area was plenty big and comfortable enough for everyone! The back deck saw plenty of happy hours and sunset watches.
The beautiful beach was close enough to walk back for lunch easily.
Loved this stay!!!

We had never been to OBX before and were looking for a location that was less touristy and more laid back. This definitely checked both boxes. The house was perfect for 7 of us and we loved sitting on the deck in the morning with our coffee and then again at night to watch the sunset. Everything was as described in the listing and Marc checked in multiple times throughout the week to make sure everything was going well. I would definitely recommend the Frequent Flyer to anyone staying in Rodanthe! Hoping to get back down in a year or two.

The house was clean and great space for 6 of us - actually could have had 2 more people. Owner was extremely responsive to any issues we had. Unfortunately the bridge opened last week so you can hear some of the traffic passing- sound machine helped with that! All in all a great vacation!

Clean, beautifully maintained and comfortable, with cool kitesurfing decor, this base for obx fun is situated to savor the sound and almost as close to the beach, and so outfitted for fun you can leave your paddleboard and kayak at home. This was our second year @Frequent Flyer and it won't be our last!

This is a beautiful and clean home. A lot of open space for a multigenerational family. Mark was great in communicating with us before during and after the trip.

Mark was very professional and helpful with anything needed. Property location was perfect, I had access to fish the sound with my kayak, even caught two beautiful red drum from shore and a short walk to the beach. Wonderful family trip.

The house was very clean and well-appointed. Each bedroom has a private bathroom. We enjoyed the proximity to multiple lighthouses and Kitty Hawk. Kayaking on the sound was a blast (and only a few steps away)!

Frequent Flyer was an excellent spot for our family of 5. The four bedrooms and bathrooms allowed for all three teens to have their own room/bath which was perfect. We could have easily had another 3 with us! The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We cooked all our dinners at the house were able to find everything we needed and more. Having a washer and dryer was also helpful. The best part was all the toys outside. The bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, beach chairs & toys, and cornhole made it so there were plenty of things to keep us and our teens busy. Both the sound and the ocean were easy to access by a short walk. We enjoyed watching sunsets from the back deck every night. Mark was very communicative and helpful before and during our stay.

We chose this house for vacation because of the positive reviews, proximity to the sound and ocean, and amenities. We were not disappointed upon arrival to find out that the advertising was accurate. We needed Mark a couple times, and he was prompt, professional, and perfect for taking care of us. We are a big family and needed a week away, and this place provided the respite we needed. We would encourage others to consider this vacation spot!

The Frequent Flyer proved to be a fantastic place for our week in the OBX! We loved being so close to the Sound and the ocean! We really enjoyed the kayaks and SUP boards and even used a few of the bikes. The sunset views from the deck did not disappoint. The kitchen was also well stocked with everything we needed. Mark was an incredible and reliable host and we hope to visit again!

This four bedroom house was perfect for us and our adult children. Everything you need for an active vacation was provided (bikes, SUPs, kayaks, games and beach gear). We also enjoyed just sitting on the multiple decks. We appreciated that Mark checked in on us, but we had no problems or concerns.

Mark was quick to communicate details - I am a super planner so wanted some information early. The house was as described. We had 8 adults and were all comfortable in beds. It was awesome to have so many bathrooms! The kitchen was large, plenty of room to prepare meals and enough chairs for all of us to sit at the table and eat or play games. It was awesome to have the garage toys! We used the bikes, paddle boards, kayaks and corn hole. Right across the street is FREE ocean access to a beautiful beach. We were shocked when we went to the Rodanthe Pier and they wanted $15 each to get on the beach there! None of us had been to OBX, the sound was a great surprise! We rented a pontoon and were able to be far from shore, jump out and touch bottom! The water was clear and warm, we had a blast throwing the football and frisbee around. An airboat ride was educational and fun. Rodanthe is in the middle of the outer banks, so we took day trips both north and south. If you want to get to Ocracoke - leave EARLY. We got to the ferry at 10:00 am and it was a 4 hour wait to board. We skipped it and went to Buxton beach. Jockey Ridge Sand Dunes were a fun outing. We made so many memories with our adult children - our hearts are full!

Our recent stay at the Frequent Flyer was perfect. The house has everything you need for a great vacation and so many extras you didn't know you needed. The bikes, paddleboards and kayaks were a great! The sunsets were breathtaking! The proximity to the beach was super convenient! Mark was very helpful and a great communicator. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

This was our first time in OBX and we really enjoyed the stay at Frequent Flyer. Nice location in the middle of the OBX, it is convenient to visit everywhere. House is super clean, comfortable and quite, has very beautiful views. Kitchen has all for cooking. Ocean is just several minutes' walking away. We had so much fun playing kayaks, paddle boards, riding bicycles. Watching sunset from the deck was one of the most beautiful moments. Owner Mark is an awesome host, he answered all the questions right away and gave great recommendations. This vacation house suites the needs for various families, we highly recommend it, and we will definitely return.

We had a fantastic week at the Frequent Flyer! The layout of the house was perfect for our group of 5 adults and 2 kids. We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boards in the sound, and had great weather for our short walks over to the beach. The bridge construction was not intrusive at all as the work currently being done is not near the house. Highly recommend the Frequent Flyer for both the location and amenities, hoping to make it back in the future!
(One caveat - keep an eye out for snakes, we had a surprise visitor at the house one day)

They house is very clean and comfortable. We had plenty of room for everyone to have their own bedroom and bathroom. Balconies galore and water views from all! The house was equipped with lots of fun "toys" - inside there were plenty of games and puzzles - outside lots of bikes, paddleboards, kayaks, grill, numerouse beach chairs (good ones), umbrella, cart, and children's sand toys. There were two outdoor showers and an outdoor bathroom! We fished right off of the bank at the sound and caught lots of fish! There is a fish cleaning table and sink - everything you need for a great family vacation! The owners were great. Checked in with me a few days before the vacation to answer any questions beforehand, and when we first arrived to ensure everything was to our liking and met expectations. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare and eat a few dinners in, including the fish we caught! You will not be disappointed in this house. It was perfect for what we wanted - quality time together as a family!

This house is setup well for a outer banks vacation. The location of the house is nice, in a quiet area, lots of yard and privacy. The ground floor level is great for outside activities, bathroom, showers, and sink all accessible without going into house.Inside, great setup for family meals. Kitchen is well equipped, plenty of pots/pans/dishes...The kayaks, SUPs, grill, bikes, corn hole game! so nice to have all that ready to go.Kiting and water sports in the sound right there, other kite beaches close by.Great place.

The area is low key and for us in the covid situation, this was good. The home is very nice and amenities meet expectations! Grocery is a drive, 18+ miles for a proper grocery store. Linens and towels are not included but the rental service was great. Unfortunately, bridge construction is very noticeable. Mid week was noisy.

We had three generations in my family gather for a getaway. Frequent Flyer was perfect for all of us! We each had our own room with bathroom. Living/dining had plenty of seating for all of us to relax. House was very clean and well stocked. We were able to easily walk to the beach and loved using the kayaks and SUPs on the sound. Thank you for taking such great care of us Mark!

We ended up visiting at the tail end of a hurricane. Because of my job, changing weeks was not an option. The road north was closed from Saturday night right after we arrived until Thursday afternoon. Tons of sand and water covering the road. With all of that, we still had a very nice time fishing and kayaking. We caught some lovely sea trout and red drum that were absolutely delicious! As far as the house, there is an upstairs King suite and a downstairs King suite and both kids rooms also have their own bath, so tons of room! The well appointed kitchen has everything you need to cook up your favorite meals! And Watermen's Bar and Grill is just down the road, great food and outdoor seating! We enjoyed a day up north shopping and exploring and went to Hatteras light house another day. In all, it was a very relaxing, low key vacation, which is just what we needed! Enjoy!

My wife and I have four daughters and we were looking for a quiet place to enjoy the beach and some family time. Our girls loved the Frequent Flyer!! Everything you could ever want was available at the house and we felt like we were at home from the time we arrived. We all loved being on the sound side of the island. The new bridge takes a little of the sunset views away but still very enjoyable from the porch and the private sound access. The owner was awesome to communicate with and even checked to make sure everything was ok and we were enjoying the home a few times while we were there. We would absolutely recommend this home for anyone looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the Rodanthe area! Very thankful we had the opportunity to vacation in this home!! Only wish for me is we could have stayed longer and I would have had a chance to learn kite boarding. I guess we will have to visit again!
