The house was fantastic and had more than enough space for our large family. What was particularly great was the large table where we always ate before we went to the very large swimming pool.

Amazing views and property. Carolina (the housekeeper) was very responsive and helpful. The little village nearby (Castellina) is wonderful.

The villa was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the villa and the gorgeous view. We had 3 rental cars. The one drawback was the gravel driveway. The steep inclines and the ditch on the syof the road was very concerning to every driver
That was are only problem. It can use work.
Thanks

We absolutely enjoyed every second of our stay. Views were crazy nice, stars at night incredible, rooms huge and bathrooms even bigger than we imagined. Handbooks and guides provided are perfect, internet and sonos right on. Kitchen more than enough cooking/eating supplies. Same w towels/linens etc. Pool was nice although we spent most our time off property doing the tourist thing, We picked this location for access to all of Tuscany and worked out well. Even the little town of Castellina had good restaurants and great deli for pick up and eating back at the Villa. We had 10 adults and never felt crowded, and all our out-of-town guest loved the stay. Erik is a stand up host. Good Job Erik! We look forward to coming back in 2026 for more than just 11 days.

Due to delays this trip was four years in the making...we had our son and his family of four (daughter in college was unavailable unfortunately) our daughter and her family of four and her in-laws for two weeks and our stay was extended another week. The property was wonderful the town of Castellina wonderful and accommodating. Weather was great didn't realize that September is the busiest for Italy, would probably make the next visit later in Sept. early October.

Our group had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in the countryside of Tuscany. While a bit difficult to find, the directions and GPS coordinates helped immensely and we enjoyed every minute of our quiet stay here. The property is near an adorable town, Castellina in Chianti, and perfectly located for day trips to Siena, Florence and even Volterra. We were surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was (perfect for chefs to cook & lots of refrigerator space to keep things cool!) and our kids loved using the pool and playing soccer/football in the historic courtyard at sunset. The house is exactly what I would expect for a property in Tuscany, no fuss, but very comfortable with laundry and air con for hot nights. Erik, the host, was also very responsive when we had some issues with the air con in the first few days and helped us get that fixed quickly. Our group made a pact to come back in 10 years if you will have us, Erik! We really enjoyed our stay and thank you for all of your help and sharing your home with us!

This is the second time we have stayed at this wonderful villa. There were 8 of us in the group and it was fun watching the 4 people who hadn't stayed there before delight in discovering this amazing property. There is plenty of space to spread out with several different sitting areas and the wonderful patio that overlooks farms and vineyards as far as the eye can see. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped which makes it fun to cook all the wonderful items to be found in local farmers markets. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

We absolutely loved this home. So many wonderful places for our family to gather: dinner in the loggia, relaxing at the pool, and drinks on the terrace where we planned the evening meal that we prepared in the well-stocked kitchen. Everyone has their own space. The location was perfect. From here we explored from Florence to Montepulciano and from Pisa to Montevarchi. We loved Castellina as our favorite home base. The shower pressure is amazing. We enjoyed sitting out after dinner admiring the stars and hearing the wild boar off in the distance.

We stayed in this big, beautiful, old farmhouse for our last week of a big tour of Italy. It was brilliant. The owners have thought of everything! It's incredibly well equipped. They even have written tour guides of the local area, Florence and anything you may need to google! The pool is amazing, built on an old olive terrace, surrounded by olive trees and rosemary bushes with views over the valley. We went on trips to Florence, San Gimingnano, Siena and the local village is lovely with everything you need, plus an exceptional view especially at sunset. I would thoroughly recommend it, we were only a family of 5 but it would also be great for 2 families holidaying together, there's plenty of space. Thanks!

This large, rambling Tuscan villa was perfect for our family, with six adults and six children ages 4-12. It features many bedrooms and areas to eat together, read, play, or just hang out. The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained, with a large swimming pool which was a perfect place to relax and cool off after visiting any of the many towns, wineries and sites which are easily accessible within 20 to 45 minutes from the property. The town of Castellina in Chianti, less than 10 minutes by car, is charming itself, with many dining options and all of our shopping needs. Our family had a week filled with memories of a lifetime.

Heaven in Tuscany
Gabbianuzzo was just what we hoped. It is a little piece of paradise in Chianti. We were 11 family members with plenty of room for everyone. The pool was terrific and enjoyed by all. The beauty of the surroundings made for a relaxing, refreshing environment every moment. The village of Castellina was an oasis. We are so happy we had this experience.

Heaven in Castellina
We stayed for a week and truly enjoyed every minute there. Beautiful morning and evening views from the terrace, cozy evenings around the fire. The photos don’t do the villa justice. The layout and details are fantastic, the kitchen is wonderful, beds comfy and the showers amazing. Julie’s lovely guidebooks gave great suggestions for enjoying Castellina and the surrounding area. I gave the location four stars only because the villa is a ten minute drive to town and it’s not easily walkable to town. Check-in was very smooth. I had a bit of trouble connecting with the manager at a couple points but Erik was very quick to respond via email. I know I will dream of returning one day to Gabbianuzzo. It is the ideal place to experience the Chianti region and all it has to offer.

The property was exactly what we were looking for. In the middle of Chianti, perfectot
Perfect location in the heart of Chianti. The farmhouse was well equipped from the kitchen to the bedrooms. Bathrooms were great and exceeded expectations. Easy to have a chef come and prepare an excellent meal. The landscape was stunning, vineyards hills and valleys and wildlife. Erik was accommodating Waco made the rental process easy. I would recommend to best friends as well as anyone who asked.

Thanks to Erik and Chama and Majid for making our stay at Podere Gabbianuzzo such a wonderful experience. The house easily accommodated us and our guests and there were many days when we wanted to do nothing but simply enjoy the property and not wander around Tuscany! But wander we did, and Gabbianuzzo was a superb jumping off point. The people of Castellina in Chianti were friendly and welcoming and Erik and Julie pointed us to many people who provided yummy meals and delicious pastries! Of course, we ventured out on our own, but the extremely helpful information prepared by Erik and Julie was invaluable as we made decisions about where to explore. All of our guests sat around the dining table poring over the booklets to plan their days. Those who followed the suggestions about Florence and Siena said they were perfect! The kitchen was well-equipped; in fact we could have had several big parties if only we had known people to invite!. Thank you for your contributions to our wonderful holiday. Our 2 1/2 year-old grandson keeps asking to go back on the plane to his Italy home! And we loved Chama and Majid, who despite the language barriers, were extremely helpful and good-natured. Grazie!

We stayed at Gabbianuzzo for 3 weeks in late May to the middle of June. I already miss the villa. Not only was it beautiful and highly functional, it is very old and has been refitted with electricity, a great kitchen, beautiful bedrooms, modern bathrooms, and a pool. There is room to stretch out, privacy, and plenty of hot water. The surrounding vista of wooded hills, vineyards, olive trees, and flowers from every window in the villa and the wonderful terraces is a peaceful setting you can rarely find anymore. We had great dinners outside in the loggia.Castellina is a typical village to visit and shop just not for groceries. And the gelato is good there too!The train station in Castellina in Scalo is only 20 minutes away and makes the trips to Firenze, Siena, Pisa, and Venice easy if you do not choose to drive. There are also many villages and restaurants to visit within short distances. The wineries are many and tasting is great. The pool is a nice way to spend part of a warmer day although the house with its thick walls stays very cool.If you do rent a car, get one with high clearance as the dirt road into Gabbianuzzo, although verry good, can be challenging. All that Erik and Julie write about their villa is true and you will discover more if you are lucky enough to visit!Overall, Gabbianuzzo is the best!

Beautiful home in an amazing area!
We had a wonderful trip to Gabbianuzzo. The home was beautiful, spacious and clean. We had 15 people and there was plenty of room for everyone. We would love to return when it is warmer and spend some time exploring the outdoors around the home. We had an amazing vacation. Thank you so much.

The Perfect “Under the Tuscan Sun” Home
Our family of 13 had a memorable stay in this beautiful home. The home is perfectly spaced so everyone had enough room for themselves. The large updated kitchen and beautiful outdoor loggia were able to accommodate our big group. We spent hours on the terrace in the morning, and late afternoon watching the scenic green forest, grape vines, olive trees, an occasional deer, and listening to the birds sing. The pool was great to cool down in on a hot day. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, and exactly what we had hoped it would be. The town of Castellina is charming and had a personality of its own. We immediately fell in love with it: the stores, shop owners, bars and restaurants. The people are welcoming and friendly. The home is centrally located for day trips to: Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Florence, and Chianti Wine tasting. We hope to return again one day. The welcome guides are extremely helpful and detailed to help you make the most of your stay. Thank you Erik and Julie for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

This home is lovely and graceful in every way!
Gabbianuzzo is an exceptional property! The landscape and location are beautiful and private. The surrounding views are breathtaking. The architecture of the house is stone, and the owner has done an amazing job of integrating into the 1790 original frame. You are immersed in the authentic terra of Tuscany. Surrounded by olive trees, grapes, lavender. The long private gravel road down to the farmhouse is an adventure and makes for the best stories! This home is lovely and graceful in every way.
Our family did not want to leave! LIfelong memories were made in this farmhouse by 3 generations. The very long loggia farmhouse dining table was thoughtfully set up for our big family in advance. Magical summer dinners Under the Tuscan Sun.
The property team is wonderful, very attentive and easy to communicate with. They responded quickly via text, email, whatsapp. All of the local shopping, dinner, recommendations were outstanding, and key to planning our week.
Bedrooms are perfectly set up with quality sheets and pillows. Castellina is a quick drive and has yummy provisions plus so much more (wine, olive oils, vegetables, cheese shops) to set up your kitchen and cook. The local Co-op is a fun shop, We quickly filled both fridges with salami, figs, prosecco and pastas. There are many delicious restaurants and wineries within 10-15 minutes away.
We are coming back!

Stunning Tuscan Villa in Chianti
We were travelling as an extended family group of 15 adults and teenagers from Australia, and stayed at Castellina in Chianti during December. The weather was crisp, clear and chilly but the Villa's central heating and wonderful fireplace made our stay very cosy and comfortable. This was the perfect property for all of us! We all loved the Villa - the stunning views, the peacefulness, the gorgeous foggy sunrises and sunsets, watching the deer graze in the afternoon and the beautiful fireplace - were all just part of what made this one our favourite places we visited during our trip. The Villa is situated in a beautiful area with easy access to many small Chianti towns but also an easy drive to San Gimignano, Siena and we even took a day trip to Assisi. The personal touches, fantastic local information provided and Erik's prompt and friendly communication make this a property that we would recommend to everyone. We didn't want to leave and we all sincerely hope we can go back there someday soon.

Great Stay in a Great Location
We were a group of 8 family and friends who came together for a week in Castellina. The house was perfect for our needs and the weather allowed us to enjoy the outdoor amenities. While the pool was a bit chilly, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather by the pool and on the terrace. We loved the large kitchen and took advantage of the local markets to make several dinners during our stay. It was great having 2 refrigerators for our large group not to mention a dishwasher to help with the post-meal clean-ups. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glassware, pots and pans.
The house is definitely a bit off the beaten path, but is still an easy drive to Castellina in Chianti where there are a number of restaurants and a market. Radda and Panzano are 2 other towns in close proximity to the villa.
All of our group would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful week at Gabbianuzzo
I don't know where to start , the villa was even better than expected. We were a group of 10 adults and we all had our own lovely room with full private bathroom. The room my husband and I had was called the dormitory and it had 5 single beds and a double so it would be great for a family with a lot of kids. The setting among the olive orchards and vineyards is magical. The kitchen has everything you need and more to make great meals for a large crowd. There were 2 great area's for dining. one in the loggia and one inside for colder evenings. There are several sitting area's inside and out so no problem finding a quite corner to read or write in your journal. The fireplace was a wonderful treat for the cooler evenings. The pool is beautiful and very large and refreshing.
We saw a lot of deer and we could hear the wild boars but only one couple saw one from the top floor bedroom.
The Villa is very well situated to the lovely villages of Castilina in Chianti and Radda and both have good restaurants and nice shops.
I would recommend this villa to anyone it would be a great place for a family reunion for a big group.

Absolutely beautiful villa with stunning views.
We loved our stay at this property. The villa is spacious and the views are stunning. Castelleni and Radda are quaint towns a short drive nearby. We also did day trips to Florence, Siena, and San Gimiginano. The owners provided helpful tips in booklets for getting around too! The kitchen was awesome too. We especially enjoyed to Pool too!
Thank Erik and Julie for sharing your lovely home with us,

Outstanding, superlative
Incredible property. My wife and I took our two kids, my mother and two friends to Gabbiunozzo for two weeks. We occupied five bedrooms between us and got lost in the house - it is huge, the kids loved exploring and we could come together and do our own things so easily. The pool is fantastic - 16m long, at its very best late in the day when you could watch the long shadows appear. The grounds really make the place - tranquility, beauty and nature in abundance. Wild boars and deer made guest appearances. Claudio (pool man) and Chiara (housekeeper) looked after us magnificently. Between our English, their Italian and google translate the simple things we needed help with were soon sorted. All write ups about this property are spot on - they influenced our decision to stay there and I'm happy to confirm to others it surpassed our expectations. Erik, the owner, was in routine email contact with advice on things to do and to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Location is excellent - nice and quiete yet a ten minute drive to the charming village of Castellina and much more within thirty minutes' drive.
We've been renting summer properties for many years now and this is our firm favourite - we will definitely be back.
August 2017.

Gabbianuzzo is really the most beautiful property I have ever stayed at.
Driving up to Gabbianuzzo for the first time was one of those "pinch yourself" moments. Down a secluded dirty road, you make a final turn and find yourself at you're own little piece of Heaven. You'll fall in love before you even go inside because the views of the vineyards and valley are breath taking.
You will wake up to those views every morning with a coffee on the back patio. Kitchen and dining area are excellent and well-equipped.
Bedrooms are nice, and there are lots of bathrooms. It really feels like everyone can have their own space.
My favorite place was the pool, which is even more beautiful than the photos.
Do yourself a favor and book this villa. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful home and breathtaking setting
Exploring Chianti from this off the beaten path home was really an adventure. The home was close enough to Castellina that we were in town often for groceries and to dine and shop, but far enough to be secluded. Driving up and down the driveway to get to the house was pretty funny as each family had different experiences being successful getting up and down the hills depending upon their rental car ability. We loved the pool and sitting quietly on the back deck off the dining room in the morning and evenings at sunset and to stargaze. We followed a lot of the advice in the book provided by Erik as to favorite towns, and stayed mostly in the Chianti area and thus really got to know the small towns. Volpaia was a favorite town with our best meal of the trip at Ristorante La Bottega.
We were a group of 16; two families of 5, a family of 4 and a couple. We all had plenty of space in this spacious home. Erik was very available and helpful with any issues that came up.
We all enjoyed the authentic experience that this house provided with the beauty of the home and the nature surrounding us. It will be forever a wonderful memory for all of us.

Celebration at Gabbianuzzo
For two weeks in May 2016, our family had the vacation celebration of our lifetime at Gabbianuzzo. We could not have been happier with both the beautiful home and the perfect setting. It effortlessly accommodated two different groups of 13 individuals and could have easily had room for more. I must admit when I first read the reviews for this venue I thought they sounded too good to be true. but they were not and they provide lots of good information.
The beautiful villa is a history -filled restored farm house that exudes the feel of rural italy. The bedrooms, baths and living areas are very spacious, comfortable and charming.
You will certainly enjoy the restaurants of the area but if you love to cook you will be thrilled with the kitchen. It is so spacious and well equipped. It is easy to cook for a large group. Gathering for meals works well in the nearby dining room with its incredible view and adjoining terrace. Or, when weather permits, there are two outdoor dining areas. The grounds and views are breathtaking and the pool was outstanding!!
Gabbianuzzo is so convenient for day trips. We thoroughly enjoyed visitng the hill towns and villages surrounding our base town of Castellina in Chianti. As well, Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano and Siena are closeby.
And, if we ever had a question, Erik, the owner, and Claudio and his wife were always helpful and friendly.
Gabbianuzzo allowed us to gather as family and friends in Italy and we have so many wonderful memories of our happy days there.

Wow Amazing!!
I cannot describe how amazing this house was, I wish we were still there. Erik you have a very special place and you have managed to keep that Tuscan charm. The space in the house suited our large group perfectly, we enjoyed many meals round the long table in the loggia and have lovely memories of everyone singing and enjoying themselves, Many meals were cooked in your wonderful kitchen and many bottles of wine drank. We also tried the italian take away that you recommended, we had difficulty explaining our order, but the local policeman and the shop keeper next door helped us explain. The scenery from Gabbianuzo is breathtaking with the added bonus of deers, wild boars and foxes. We also managed to drag ourselves away from this lovely house to visit Sienna and San Gimigano, beautiful places.
Thank you for letting us share you house, we loved Italy and we will be back!!
(Can you tell us what the square iron item is in the upstairs living room, is it an old fashioned radiator??)
