About this cottage rental
This private 3-bedroom cottage overlooks Jackson Lake in Monticello, Georgia, home of Berry's Fishing Tournaments and the Deer Capital of Georgia. Like most vacations at the lake most of your time will be spent outdoors alongside the water's edge.
The home has one large bedroom suitable for mom and dad featuring a queen size bed and an en suite bath. There is a room with two twin beds for the kids and one bedroom with a queen perfect for grandma and grandpa or an older sibling needing their own space. All rooms have blackout shades. The home can sleep up to 6 people comfortably.
The kitchen has enough room to fix the perfect southern meal! It has a fridge, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, small coffee maker and dishwasher. But for cooking meals, folks around here usually use the propane grill located outside on the deck. We have an array of glassware, plates, utensils, etc. that you are welcome to use. If you need something specific (Ex. rice maker, crock pot) I would plan on bringing it with you.
The photos are about 95% accurate as things are sometimes moved around, redecorated, etc. but they are indicative of the overall look-and-feel. Sometimes we need to replace duvet covers/linens and other home good items to keep the place looking the best we can. This is a well loved cottage that we hope your family will love too!
What should you bring? A few beach towels, floats, some sunscreen, bug spray, and sandals. If you have a favorite blanket or pillow bring those too. As for food, we recommend that you stop on your way and pack a cooler with food - you can reuse the cooler lakeside! There's plenty of beer available at Larry's Four-way which is nearby, but if you want something specific you might want to snag it before leaving the interstate. Most enjoy grilling out and eating at some of the local country eateries around town. While we get you started with paper towels, toilet tissue and trash bags however we do not supply an unlimited quantity, so if you feel like you use a lot please be sure to grab a few more at the store before you arrive.
Please keep in mind that we are a small rental on vrbo, so if you need the amenities of a hotel this might not be a good fit for you. We are offering a charming quaint country experience on Jackson Lake!
Our occupancy is maximum of 6 guests at one time on the property. No parties or events.
My Listing & Pictures are current as of 4/21/2024.
If you are looking at our home for use in TV Production, Small Print Advertising, Music Videos or other Filming please don't hesitate to reach out. A COI is required and we will have an owner representative onsite during the shoot.

My husband, friends & I had a great weekend at this home! The house is cute and the beds were comfortable. They had everything we needed. The back deck was great for enjoying the beauty of the lake! The sunsets were so beautiful every night! We also enjoyed using the boat ramp. It was very convenient during our stay. Thanks for letting us enjoy your home!

Great vacation
I started looking at beach rentals and quickly realized this was not feasible with inflation. So I started looking at other options. We have never stayed at a lake house before but Kimberly’s place looked ideal and was a good price. Communication with Kimberly throughout the entire process was great. She responded promptly before and during our stay. She was always kind and helpful. The house was exactly as described and as the pictures show. Locating it was easy and it is in a good location to several towns in the area. With the keyless entry, check in was a breeze. The house was clean when we arrived and we were very pleased with the overall look of the home. Furniture and beds were comfortable. The kitchen had pretty much most everything we needed. She also provided a roll of paper towels and several rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom. They had plenty of towels and rags for the bathrooms. We are a family of 4 and the house was a great size. My kids decided to stay in the room with two beds together so we ended up actually having an extra bedroom. The proximity to the lake was wonderful! Just a few steps across the yard and you’re at it. I loved the shade tree in the back as well to sit under when not in the water. They provided several chairs to sit by the water with as well as the table and umbrella on the deck. The dock was nice and the water was pretty see through during our stay. It’s fairly shallow around the dock area and you could touch pretty far out and even past the end of the dock. With small children, this was good. There was a little bit of debris from people littering in the lake that had washed up on the shore (even some broken glass) so I would definitely recommend water shoes for all. Bring some floats! The sunsets were incredible from the dock and house and so beautiful. I’m thankful we had great weather. You can hear some traffic from the bridge while outside and in the master bedroom. I didn’t feel like it lessened the quality of our stay. I had a white noise machine in our bedroom so it helped with the road noise. We stayed from Tuesday to Sunday. The amount of people on the lake was pretty low key until the weekend. It was busy on the weekend but fine. The kids enjoyed the waves that the boats sent our way. Lol we rented a pontoon boat from Berry’s boat dock just right across the lake. We didn’t see neighbors around until the weekend and it was a quiet area. We will definitely go back and rent from Kimberly again!

AWESOME VIEWS!!
Great location on the lake with great view!

Location on the lake and dock access is great!! Clean, except for pan with an ear of corn left in the oven. Kitchen is very well equipped, best of any VRBO we have previously used. Would definitely stay there again.

Awesome Long Weekend
Our family of 5 had an amazing weekend!! Our 3 children ages 11-13 swam everyday, collected rocks and shells on the small beach, and floated on the water. We grilled every night and enjoyed the beautiful view from the back deck and dock. Stargazing was spectacular! We rented a pontoon boat for a day, and we had a blast cruising around the lake all day. We drove to historical downtown Monticello 15 min away and enjoyed the quaint shops and great food. The lake house was neat, clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The owners were friendly and responsive. We will definitely be back.

Jackson Lake
We truly enjoyed our stay. The property was just as described in the VRBO listing. The house was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. We spent quite a bit of time sitting on the back deck and enjoyed the view of the lake. We loved it. If we come back that way, we would definitely stay here again.

Very Nice Stay
Stayed here for my birthday with my husband and two yr old. The view was lovely, especially at sunset. The house was decorated very tastefully, and the kitchen was well stocked with most of the supplies you’d require. Ingles Supermarket is about 15 minutes away if you need anything. Everything was exactly as pictured, except for the patio chairs, which the cushions should seriously be replaced because they were so dirty. Glad we brought our camping chairs. The house was otherwise clean and had a nice layout. The proximity to the lake was fantastic; so peaceful sitting on the deck watching boaters and the water. We fed the ducks grapes and oats and enjoyed watching the ducklings. I was excited to go swimming having seen a review pic of people jumping in, but the water was a little too dirty. There’s a lot of boat traffic and all the gunk gets pushed to the shore. I would have loved a kayak or paddle boat to enjoy the lake more. We rented a pontoon from a nearby place for a few hours, which was terrific; the lake goes on for miles. Otherwise we sat on the very hot deck under the small umbrella for shade. It is August after all! There was a box fan in one of the rooms which we greatly appreciated. Maybe upgrade to a sun setter retractable awning? Not too much to do around Monticello; the Indian Springs park was a letdown, but the Fire and Ice restaurant had good food and a nice vibe.
If you own a boat this is a great home base with the boat ramp. However maybe put a safety chain across the boat ramp? It’s very slippery; my son got too close to the water and fell in, and I fell in trying to help him, which was a mess. All in all I would stay here again, avoid the ramp, and bring a beach tent to sit out on the dock. There is a bridge close by which was noisy with traffic, but it didn’t really bother us. Thanks for a very nice stay!

Great Week
Couldn't ask for much more. Owner was awesome. From booking to checking in. House was clean and easy to get to. From morning coffee on the dock to watching the sunset in the evenings. Fishing was good, atmosphere was perfect. Only advice for future renters, if you don't like all the boat traffic, avoid Saturdays. Other than Saturday afternoon, it felt like we had the lake to ourselves for most of the day. We will definitely be back. Only regret was having to pack up and head home. Thank you for a great vacation.

Relaxed and Restored
We had a great visit. The house is very clean and decorated very fresh and comfortable. The long weekend was spent on the dock, on the lake and in the amazing g yard playing bags, spike ball and football. We brought our own kayaks, and paddle boards and had great actress from the private beach and ramp on property. The owners communicated quickly always. We will be back!

Perfect spot to relax
From the time of booking to the time of checking out, this stay was a breeze! Super nice owners responded immediately to any questions I had. From the moment we walked in we felt at home! Very clean and the owners left treats on the counter and set seasonal decorations around as we were spending a quiet Thanksgiving during our stay. Plenty of supplies (tp/paper towels/cleaning supplies). Beautiful view of the lake from the living area and master bedroom. We stayed "off season" so no swimming or boating for us, but this was the perfect place for our family of four to escape, relax, and recharge. Enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the lake and manicured back yard and eating local treats out on the dock watching the boats go by. Made several day-trips to Monticello, Indian Springs State Park, High Falls State Park, town of Juliette for fried green tomatoes at the famous Whistle Stop Cafe, and walked the beautiful campus of the University of Georgia campus. Absolutely beautiful (and we are Gators!) Grocery stores in three directions about 20 minutes but the drives are beautiful! Definitely would love to plan a stay again.

Great location; property lacking finer touches
Our weekend was wonderful; however, there were some aspects of the property that were missing that were expected from a top listing. There were definitely areas that looked untouched for some time in cleaning behind couch, trash bin inside not cleaned. Crusty kitchen utensils - we washed all our dishes/utensils before use, which I would recommend ppl in any listing. There was also supposed to be a helpful tips sheet on the fridge according to the posting. This would’ve been helpful finding activities and dining around the very rural area. Also spent a good bit of time figuring out how to operate the tv and remotes since there was no instruction. Also the security motion light in the front, though I really appreciate the added security at night, apparently lights up the front porch whenever a car passes down the street. It frightened my son on the first night and I stayed up for a couple hrs watching the front of the house before figuring out cars were setting it off. It is a very rural area so it was a little unsettling. We were told not to worry and now that we spent 4 days there I do feel comfortable - the ppl in town were extremely friendly. We did have a fabulous time renting pontoon, fishing, and the lovely view right on the water. But again for the cost of the listing and it being a top listing I had bigger expectations. Wanted to love the place and host was very responsive but I have to be completely honest it was disappointing.

Weekend stay
We had an excellent time at the lake house. The dock was perfect for the event we sponsored on the lake and the boat ramp allowed us to easily put the boat in and out of the water. The rooms were perfect and the house was decorated so cute! Definitely a great little spot!

Lovely Lake House
My family and I really loved our vacation at this lake house on Jackson Lake. The house was clean, a perfect size for the four of us and the location right on the water was amazing. They provided everything we needed and we would return in a heartbeat. The owners were friendly and were available by text when we needed to reach them. A great home to rent!!

Adorable, clean house right on the lake, enjoyed all the water activities, would be nice to have either kayaks or paddle boards. Tubbing down the Chattahoochee River only an hour drive away was fantastic. Would definitely rent this place again. The owner is very helpful and available for questions!

Great lakefront home!
Our family of four had a great time at this quaint lakefront cottage. The owners are great, they allowed an early check-in and late check-out. The home is perfect for anyone looking to relax and get away from it all, especially with the world today. Everything you need is supplied- towels, sheets, paper products, detergent, etc. We rented a boat (Jackson Lake Boat Rentals) and jet skis (Lake Life Boat Rentals) and kept them at the home's dock, fed families of ducks, and swam a lot. Neighbors are great, and town of Covington is only 20 minutes away (aka Hollywood of the South). All in all, amazing vacation home, can not wait to go back! Ps- when we return we will bring some fly paper to hang outside on the deck!

We had a great, long weekend here. Everything was clean and ready for us when we got here. If you are a light sleeper, be aware you will hear road noise from the bridge during the night. Otherwise we had a great stay! Thanks for having us.

Great close getaway!
We had a great time at the house. It rained three days, but I grabbed some games for the kids at the Dollar General a mile away. The pictures on the posting made it appear it’s deep water dock. It’s waist deep for an adult. It’s a sandy/muddy bottom so I suggest water shoes. Our teenager had some ting leeches one day after stepping in the mud. I recommend some floats. Our three kids each had one and loved being tied to the dock and playing on them. We also placed a tailgating tent on the dock to make some shade. Glad we thought to bring it. Thanks for a great Getaway during COVID.

Awesome restful gorgeous lake home
We love Kim’s lake home This is our second week here, we spent a week here in July. It is a beautiful ,comfortable three bedroom cottage with a gorgeous deck. We loved eating out on the deck and watching the sunsets. The view of the sunsets are spectacular words cannot explain how gorgeous the sunsets are. There is a really nice dock. We loved sitting on the dock enjoying the lake and ducks swimming around
Our host Kim is wonderful she is very responsive and helpful. We love the cottage. We are hoping to go back for a week in the spring. We would highly recommend Kim’s cottage.

Great Lake house!
Loved being so close to the water and having the boat dock! Perfect for our family for a long weekend. Owner very responsive when the door code did not work. Very appreciative of the good stock of detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Thank you for leaving ant spray, because they had taken over the yard. A couple FYIs for future visitors- house is very close to the bridge with lots of traffic noise and the water was down to where we could not leave the boat at the dock bc it was hitting the side (protectors are horizontal only). Enjoyed our time here!
