About this cabin rental
This contemporary design, cozy house sits high up in the woods on 10 acres of Pikes Falls Road between Stratton and Jamaica. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT do seasonal winter rentals and we require a full week minimum rental over the December holiday season.
It's a great location - just 3 miles from the cute little town of Jamaica and just 4 miles from Stratton's Sunbowl access road. Close to skiing, hiking, Jamaica State Park, shopping (e.g - a great country store in Jamaica, lots of outlets in nearby Manchester), great restaurants, or just sit by the wood stove and enjoy the peaceful, secluded setting with a great view! The winter bonus is the great sledding (sleds provided, but at your own risk!) and hiking or snowshoeing right outside your door! (Note: property is high up a beautiful country road, AWD or 4WD is usually essential in the winter.) It's a peaceful, beautiful setting to sit by the wood stove (the most efficient source of heat) and watch the snow fall, or be at the slopes in a few minutes. In the summer enjoy hiking, golfing, fishing, canoeing and more nearby, including in Jamaica State Park which is just 3 miles away. A beautiful, natural swimming hole and waterfall at Pikes Falls is just a couple of miles away. Close to Stratton golf, yoga and other summer activities.
The small house has three bedrooms - 2 with adjacent baths, and an additional bedroom with a twin over full bunk bed. The bunk room is small and great for a couple of kids, but too small for adults. You may bring your own sheets and towels, or use ours and probably start laundry before you leave - details TBD.
This house has character and most renters want to come back - try our affordable rates and see for yourself!

This property is as advertised. The owners made everything easy and welcoming. There are multiple roads (and the driveway) which are unpaved and any visitor would benefit from good ground clearance and 4wd/awd especially in wet conditions. Definitely worth the drive!

The layout and location of the property is what you would want when visiting Vermont. There were a few repairs that needed to be done, but this did not affect our stay. If you want privacy in the Vermont mountains, this is the place!

Maggie was a wonderful host. We didn’t have any issues with the rental, but prior to arriving, she answered all our questions. We can’t wait to go back. We spent a much needed vacation in this secluded lovely home. It was very clean and the beds were comfy. Our adult children said, “How do you find these places that are so relaxing surrounded by nature?” At night, we left the windows open to hear the owls and breathe in the mountain air. If you love nature, you will love this place. We ate most breakfasts and dinners on the deck.

Holiday in the Woods
We had a lovely stay in this country retreat that was still convenient to grocery and activities. The amenities were excellent. A wonderful time was had by all, including our dog.

Quiet, Convenient, and Comfortable Gem
We had a wonderful time at this cozy cabin. The location is ideal to get to Stratton for a day on the slopes. Then, relax by the fire and connect with the family. The cabin is set up so nicely that when the kids want to get some alone time, they have their own rooms to go to. And when we want to gather, there's an open central room/kitchen to chat, play games, and eat. Loved it!

We loved this house. Location was great, secluded but close to Stratton. We loved the wood stove and bird-watching. The boys loved the long driveway for sledding. Can’t wait to go back!!

Maggie was great. Very helpful with check in and check out. Her home is welcoming and very well equipped. Bonus: WiFi was strong! Beds were comfortable. Loved being in the middle of nature yet 10min drive to sunbowl/Stratton.

Second stay just as awesome as the first
Everything was great. One small issue during our stay and the owner was very responsive. We would love to come back.

We were 2 adults with our two adult children visiting part of the time. Plenty of room. The house was warm and cozy and 10 minutes to Sunbowl. We even went snowshoeing. You do need 4wheel or awd if there is any weather about but it is beautiful. The owners were wonderful to deal with.

A relaxing getaway
We spent an amazing 2 months at Maggies house in VT. The home is very clean and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need for baking/cooking. It is a cozy home and very spacious, located up a remote hill. While the area is very quiet, the house is a short drive to Stratton and 30 minute drive to Manchester. It was a much needed escape and Maggie is a wonderful host, very reliable and easily reachable!

The cabin was in a very secluded area, we were surrounded by nothing but wilderness. The cabin itself was absolutely perfect, we use the outdoor fire pit every night, there was a wood-burning stove inside, however it was too warm to turn it on. The cabin was very clean upon our arrival. The fact that the cabin was in a secluded area, did not take away from the fact that all the essentials of home were in that cabin, microwave coffeemaker Wi-Fi cable TV etc. my overall rating for the cabin would be a 10 out of 10

Quiet & comfortable
A peaceful retreat in the woods geared toward bringing together friends & family by the wood stove in an open, bright great room. Lots of windows & a huge skylight to enjoy the wildlife, woods & snow. A short drive to Stratton or the general store in Jamaica, but you may want to stay put by the fire & read.

Perfect Cabin for VT getaway
We had two great visits to Maggie’s home. The house functions really well for two small families. Great for playing outside and sledding. Her note to make sure you have 4wheel drive is really important. We were there during an ice storm and then a snow storm. Without 4wheel drive we would have been stuck. Not a bad place to be stuck though! Really convenient to Stratton and a gorgeous drive along the river to get there. Maggie was an excellent host and really great to communicate with. All of the amenities were perfect for our us.

My Old Playground
This beautiful, cozy cabin is a couple miles from a cabin I used to own on Pikes Falls Rd. My cabin was deemed a total loss after hurricane Irene in 2011. Before I bought my cabin, I camped in Jamaica for many years, and called it my home away from home. To be able to come back here, and rent Maggie’s cabin was bittersweet, as her cabin was in the same neighborhood as the one I lost. My husband and I totally enjoyed our stay, and to see the area again. I would love to rent this cabin again.
My best regards, Vicki

Gorgeous location
This cozy house nestled in the woody mountains served as the perfect base camp for both exploring a truly beautiful area & relaxing in seclusion at the end of the day. With Jamaica State Park & Ball Mountain a few miles away, & Ball Mountain Creek a short walk from the house, all the hiking we could want & get in within a week was only minutes away. We'd also highly recommend the 3 local restaurants we were able to try (Workhorse Cafe, Fran's Kitchen & Honeypie). Definitely an area we'll be looking to return to in the future.

Great ski type lodge, fun for summer activities.
Speedy communication with owners, very easy to book. Jamaica State Park just down the road for biking, hiking and swimming. Pikes Falls is very close and kids enjoyed jumping off the rocks. House has everything you would need in a cozy space. Double bunk beds great for 3-4 kids. Plenty of space for 2 couples and our 3 children.

Great Family Place!
Perfect for a family or multiple families! We liked the two master bedrooms that each had their own bath. It was great once the wood stove kicked in and warmed the place up. It was a little chilly to start. But it didn’t take long. Great location if skiing Stratton. Overall a great weekend spot!

Very cozy, warm, comfortable rental for a genuine VT experience!
We really enjoyed our stay, and were overall very satisfied with Maggie’s house! Loved the quiet, up on top of a hill location-So peaceful and relaxing. You definitely need 4wd/awd in the winter! We didn’t get much snow, but some icy rain, and part of roads leading to house, up the hills are sloped, a bit steep and curvy, so having awd def helped!
Loved the cabin feel of the house, and especially having an awesome wood stove to keep us warm. I grew up with one, and have also used one in a prior home of my own, so it was so nice to get to use one again. So nice to have a fire to watch, and keep us warm! We never used the electric heat, which did have some restrictions to save energy (peak and non-peak times of operation), so I would say, if going in the winter, you def need to be ok with using a wood stove for your primary heat source. We loved it!
House was stocked with great dishes, pots and pans, cooking supplies, spices, etc. If you like to cook, great kitchen and pull up counter area. Comfy beds, and the couch is great for sleeping, too.
We found the house perfect for us: simple, comfy and cozy, had everything we needed for a great week for skiing Stratton (up the back road about 10-15 min), exploring, and time with family and friends.
There is very weak cell phone service, or none at all. The internet wasn’t working, and it took a few days bc of the holiday, but it got fixed and owner was very kind to give us a little refund for inconvenience of no internet for most of the week. I would say that was only negative. But, in a way it was good to “disconnect” for a few days! :-)
Overall, great house, attentive and responsive owner, we enjoyed our stay and would rent again.

A wonderful place to relax!
We had a great stay at this welcoming and comfortable home. The property was nice and private and had everything we needed including a spacious deck overlooking the woods. There was more than enough room for the both of us and our dog. We had a wonderful relaxing vacation and will definitely choose this home for future Vermont vacations.

The cabin in the woods dream
We had a great family time in this house. A blast!
Very close to the ski resorts, quiet and very cozy. If you are lucky you may even be able to enjoy the maple syrup the owners are doing.
A little advice, in case of heavy snow the AWD is not only recommended, it is mandatory. Or be ready to walk half a mile. You can also train making fires prior to come in winter, but the instructions provided are very clear and everything is available for you to feel like at home.

Exactly as promised
We stayed at this property for the MLK weekend with the intent to ski at Stratton. The house is between 5 and 10 minutes away from Stratton, depending on the lot you choose. The location is ideal to avoid the typical traffic experienced on the way to Stratton. While cozy, the house has charm and character, it is far from crowds, yet still relatively close to Jamaica to grab groceries or something to eat. Owners are very responsive, communicative, and friendly. We would stay there again.

A wonderfully cozy vacation home
What a wonderfully cozy cottage! During the bitter cold spell, the wood burning stove kept us warm and comfortable. The house is well equipped for winter - there were sleds, snow shoes, and plenty of firewood for the lovely green stove, which not only kept us warm, but was also a beautiful centerpiece of the living room. There was plenty of room for our two families, (eight people in total), and there was even a chest of games and puzzles to keep us entertained on quiet evenings. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and new appliances, the beds are comfortable, and the scenery is perfect for those who want a quiet, secluded spot.

We LOVE this place, right by Stratton Sun Bowl!
This is a GREAT cabin in the woods...We had two families (4 adults, 3 kids) up for a long weekend of skiing and winter fun and had a blast..the photos do not do it justice...much better and bigger in person..the house is the perfect winter mountain retreat in a greatt location a short drive (3 miles) to the the town of Jamaica (general store, restaurants, shops) and the Stratton Sun Bowl (the back way 6 miles bypassing all the traffic). The owner Maggie is great and the house is filled with everything you need in the kitchen plus a bunch of sleds (we had a blast on the driveway). We are definitely renting this house again next time. Thanks Maggie!

COZY MOUNTAIN IN THE WOODS...VERY COMFORTABLE
We are just finishing up our ONE MONTH stay at this property and it has been AWESOME! We are only a couple so only needed one bedroom. The house is furnished with everything you need to be comfortable. We loved the woodsy location...it is very private! A nice deck is a great place to enjoy the beautiful FALL. The owner, Maggie, was very helpful! We will definitely try to stay here again if we get the opportunity to visit Vermont!

Wow!
We loved staying here! The house is so unique and charming with its location, wood stove, brick floors and comfortable family layout. It’s nicely decorated and the new kitchen made cooking family meals so easy. Maggie also made sure we had everything we needed (from kitchen supplies to linens to firewood.) The pictures don't do this gem justice. It was perfect for our family of four and my kids can't wait to go back. They loved exploring the woods around the house and peeking in the sap buckets. The location was convenient to Stratton and yet felt very private. Maggie was great to work with and handling the details was very easy. We’ll be back. Thanks so much Maggie!

Cozy Stratton Stay
We had an excellent time at this cozy Jamaica rental. It is very close to Stratton Mountain (just a few miles) and the house was in excellent shape. We especially enjoyed to the wood stove- it warmed the entire house quickly and created a very welcoming atmosphere. Great Price as well! Highly recommended.

Tranquil, Secluded, Affordable Getaway
This is our perfect spot. We spent a month in this comfortable, secluded home. It met all our needs which are tranquility, accessibility to hiking, cultural events and a comfortable place to nest and rest. This home provides all thr joys of being in nature along with the comforts of home. Although there is access to TV and internet, we had little need of them. The house is reflects the warmth of the owners. We highly recommend this well maintained property.
