Cozy little get away with amazing views of the ocean. Beautiful sunsets from the deck. Abundance of wildlife. If you are looking for something close to town or walkable, this is not the choice for you. If you are looking for gorgeous views, and the ability to leave the hustle and bustle behind then this is your spot. The internet did go out several times per day, so if you are relying on it for remote work or school, this might not be the choice for you. We are both fit, active people and the access from the parking area to the casita is incredibly steep. I can't imagine someone with any type of mobility issue safely navigating this obstacle. (even with a hand rail) Overall, this was a lovely intimate place that we called our home away from home for our stay.

The property owner was over the top helpful with things to do in the area. And the home is as described. Lovely hot water and plenty of appliances in the kitchen. And wonderfully - no ants in the house!! Our only struggle was getting to the house from the parking area or back - it is steep.

An Amazing place to stay & nHoliday!!
Beautifully built and situated deep in a remote part of Wild life sanctuary Jungle with Incredible views of both the Jungle & Sea.
A true Wild Life Mecca! We got to see most of Costa Rica's Wild Life from our balcony or during walks or drives down the mountain road. The journey from the main road up the mountain road to the Casita is an Amazing drive too and you will see plenty of animals along the route. Claire & Bud were always available for any advise or help during our amazing stay and are both wonderful. We would like to thank you both so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home and experience our BEST HOLIDAY EVER!! We will certainly be back many more times and so will our family and friends. We highly recommend anyone who wishes a relaxed, remote holiday away with the option of being able to do off roading, quad bike riding, jungle canopy zip lining, diving, snorkelling, fishing and much more.
As Arnold say: I'll BE BACK!!! XXX

Stunning Views & Jungle Oasis
Claire and Buds property just outside of Uvita is just spectacular. The sunrise and sunset views are incredible - overlooking the ocean and perched amongst the lush jungle foliage and wildlife. Listening and seeing the birds (so many Toucans!), monkeys and butterflies in the mornings and evenings were a highlight. The casita was just as described, perfect for 2 people. The kitchen is small but completely functional for any meals you would cook, the shower is excellent, and the deck and patio furniture is a highlight. There is no AC, which could be a problem for some as it does get quite hot, but there are lots of fans. It's important to know that to get to the casita, it's a 15 minute drive up a very bumpy, dirt jungle road. 4 WD is a must and you should be prepared for that drive. But it's absolutely worth it at the top for that incredible view and peaceful surroundings. Claire and Bud's hospitality was incredible - if no guests at the main house they'll even let you use the beautiful pool there! Highly recommend this property!

you get what you pay for...
The road was gnarly as described. The view was great, as described. The casita itself however was disappointing. To get to the key, you have to be a contortionist or willing to crawl under the deck.. Once inside things got worse. Only 3 of the 6 fans worked, their pull chains covered by dust and grime.. When we turned on the portable fan it blew out a cloud of dust that filled the room. The "pillow top" bed is not. My wife slept on towels so her hips wouldn't ache. The kitchen utensils needed to be washed before use. The counter top is cracked and the coffee pot was disgusting. Microwave didn't work. The bathroom was acceptable if you looked past the toilet which was dirty, cracked, poorly sealed and should be replaced immediately. As warned, indeed the power went out, 24 hours, (not the fault of the owner). The water also ran out due to some problem "up stream". Weed whacking at 9:00 AM, urgh. Getting your suitcases, or even yourself from the parking to the casita is so steep I'd go so far as to say it's dangerous! I was going to say something about the BBQ but check it out yourself!! Anyone can go to "The Beach Club", membership? NOT. All in all, I would never recommend a visit. The place is grimy, dated and disappointing. . We fled 2 days early. The owners need to refurbish the casita ASAP!

Great time in Costa Rica
Great little place on the hillside overlooking the Pacific ocean. The road is definitely a 4 wheel drive but thanks to the owner that was what we rented. My only regret was that we did not have more time there. Next time we will fly into the area instead of driving from San Jose. We were lost there for a total of 3 1/2 hours. Thanks Claire for letting us use this darling place.

Amazing Views
This is a great location for a couple to stay in the middle of the Jungle in Costa Rica. The house is perfect for two people who like to travel and enjoy Amazing views. It was a real treat to sit on the deck and watch beautiful ocean views, and an abundance of tropical forest trees with many different animals and birds right outside the home.
The house also has a fully equipped kitchen and cooking there was easy which made our travel much more affordable. It is well maintained with screens on all of the windows, to open and let in the fresh, cool ocean breezes.
If you are going to Costa Rica, to stay on the Pacific coast, I definitely recommend this Casita! We have stayed in various homes around the world and this is our favorite. We stayed for just a few days and wished we could have stayed much longer. We will come back!

Mountain Jungle Hideaway
Our stay at Casita Kristina Maria was nothing short of spectacular. This little hideaway overlooking the coast (near the whales tale) was everything we could have dreamed for our Costa Rican getaway. We were looking for a quiet, private place, away from crowds and the resort scene, but safe and well kept. This was more than we could have imagined. We loved waking up every morning to the open air, monkeys, birds and array of insect sounds. Having our morning coffee on the deck over looking the pacific and falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle every night. This may not be for everyone (steep winding mountain road, no TV or AC) but it is EXACTLY perfect for us! We are in love and will never go anywhere else. In fact we were actually supposed to spend the 2nd 1/2 of our trip at another rental (on the beach in paritta) ... we were so unhappy there after staying at the Casita that we arranged to come back here (and canceled the other rental). Bud & Claire are the most genuine and thoughtful hosts. We appreciated every bit of their hospitality. During our 9 days there we saw toucans, parrots, monkeys, lizards and learned more about Costa Rica than we had ever imagined. The town of Uvita is very inviting, convenient and safe. If you visit here be sure to check out the market on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s, the beach and the whales tale. We also hiked an amazing waterfall near Dominical and took a fishing charter out of quepos (yellow fin tuna, sailfish, grouper and snapper) while we were there. We are in love with this property and it’s amazing hosts ... this is our home whenever we come to Costa Rica.

Great casita with a great view.
The casita is just as described, offering a clean, well-appointed space with a great view! Internet service to the property had been lost so I didn't have wi-fi during my stay, but when Claire came to the casita, near the end of my stay, she arranged for me to access wifi at a nearby restaurant/beach club. This beach club also provides access to a great beach which guests at the casita can enjoy.

Clean, charming with a great view
We loved our time in Claire and Bud's casita. The view is breath taking. The cabin was rustic but spotless and had all modern convenineces and more.
Loved watching the sun sink into the ocean and enjoying the sounds of the jungle. The owners were awesome- could not have been more accomodating. The water went off briefly and Clair lugged up a bucket of water to us in the heat of the day...over the top on service. Really kind and intelligent people, fun to get to know them. The road was well cared for and a quick 12 minutes (3.2km) to the highway. Although the driveway is very steep it was actually easy to park and to get in and out.
We look forward to returning one day soon, and thinking about renting the main house next time, for longer!

A cabin in paradise.
Our stay at Casita Kristina more than met our expectations. The cabin was clean, airy, and afforded the wonderful sounds and sights of the rainforest with its abundant wildlife (toucans, monkeys, parrots, butterflies, etc). It is sniggled into the side of the rainforest and still has a magnificent view of the Pacific. We hiked, swam, and took a boat tour of the Sierpe River along which we could observe an incredible variety of wildlife. The proximity to Uvita made grocery shopping and dining at restaurants easy. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, helping us to maximize some of the areas beauty. Sitting on the porch in the mornings and evenings was a treat we'll not forget.

Nice little casita a few miles from beach and markets.
We rented this place for more than a week . It is quite secluded but safe as it is in a gated community. It is pretty minimal in what it provides. No pool nor ac. Has fans! It’s a drive out to main road and about 10 minutes to main supermarket. Drive from main road to casita isn’t paved with a few neighbors. We had a challenge with a few things however the place was comfortable if you’re looking for solitary. Lots of cute birds and monkeys frequently make appearance. 7:30am-7:30 pm the bugs make loud buzzing but after a few days we tend to tune it out. It was part of the ballena beach club that allowed us to drive there to use pool and beach. We didn’t use the pool though. Maybe sharper knives in the kitchen will help. We did experience a day of power outage lasting more than 5 hours. Inconvenience since it’s a drive out to get to restaurants . Driveway very steep and it’s not for the elderly or disabilities. Especially if you are carrying bags ! The view of the ocean was constant and was the highlight of our stay daily with the toucans !

Cute little place, great view and sweet people
We had a nice stay at this casita. It is a cute and simple little place. The view was spectacular, and it was nice being so close to Uvita we enjoyed using the beach club membership to walk on the beach for free and enjoyed the food there as well. Bud and Clara are very sweet and easy to deal with. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, is this casita does not have air conditioning, and it got a little hot for us northerners. Other than that, it’s a great little place!

Our escape to a slice of paradise
What an amazing place in the jungle of Uvita Costa Rica. Every moment held a new creature to behold, sounds, delightful warm, friendly, helpful people, amazing food, and ocean and beaches that take your breath away. A charming place for two, easy to live in with everything we needed. And, invaluable resources information and ideas from the owners. A 4 wheel drive a MUST for exploring! Our first but not our last visit!

Awesome casita up the mountain with amazing view
This casita is absolutely fantastic. It’s away from the small town of Uvita yet still close enough. It has everything I needed And Claire the owner allowed me pool access as the main villa wasn’t being used. I like It so much I extended my stay. Good amount of wildlife around and the jungle sounds are awesome to sleep to. I came In October so it was quite rainy but I enjoy the storms so no big deal for me. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommend this casita to whoever wants a cool jungle spot with lots of peace and quiet. Side note, the drive up the mountain road is always a treat. Thanks again Claire for a fantastic spot and awesome hospitality

5 stars are not enough!
We stayed in this little cabin for a week and loved every minute of it!
It is a very comfortable little cabin with everything you can dream off: the view of the ocean, the jungle all around, the wild life. The toucans come and perch right in front of the cabin, the variety of birds, the sounds of the monkeys, the fire flies...
It is conveniently close to Uvita but, yet, up the mountain in a gorgeous jungle setting with Wifi!
Claire, the owner, is extremely nice and talked to me on the phone, giving me many tips before our trip. She is one email away to answer any questions you may have and since this was our first time in Costa Rica, we had many! She gave us the best advises on excursions which saved us the research time and we did not have the time to see it all. It is a good excuse to go back.
We loved it so much, we got up at 5am every morning, sat on the patio with our coffee and stayed there, watching and listening for hours before our excursions and came back to enjoy the view before dark.
My husband works from home and are considering going back and staying longer we wished we could have stayed a month, or two
Although this cabin is for 2, there is a gorgeous dream house, down the driveway, that could accommodate a bigger family. The house has a swimming pool with a waterfall and since it was not rented at the time of our visit, Claire graciously had the pool ready for us when we got there, and we enjoyed it every evening.
My brothers and sister would love to, one day, visit this beautiful country and I can’t wait! We will rent the big house without any hesitation.
We also enjoyed going down the mountain to the private beach, there is a little restaurant where the food is very good and reasonably priced. We ordered our food and they told us to grab our drinks and go to the beach when we came back after 10 minutes, our meal was ready for us.
We will rent this cabin again, the sooner the better.

10 days in Paradise
This is an authentic, in-the-jungle experience. Perfect for a couple. Astounding ocean view while surrounded by jungle life - wake to sounds of howler monkeys, birds and cicadas. Located near all of the amenities of town - the mountain road and (especially the driveway)requires 4x4. We cooked in most of the time and found it to be fairly well equipped. The bed was not the most comfortable, and if you need A/C, this is not the place for you. There are ceiling fans and window screens. If at all possible, arrive during daylight - it is tough coming in for the first time at night! Claire, the owner, is wonderful to deal with and very responsive.
This was the perfect spot to access hiking, beach and the diverse activies Costa Rica offers. We hope to return and rent the larger Casita in the future. Thanks for a memorable adventure!

Great place!
Great casita with amazing views. Bird watching from the front deck was phenomenal. We were lucky enough to have our hosts, Claire and Bud, staying at the main house, while we were there. They are very gracious and we had a fun day going to Nauyaca Waterfalls with them.

Cute Casita
Loved this little place in the jungle with amazing wild life. Stayed 6 weeks and everyday we saw something different. The mattress quality was important to us as we both have back problem and we were staying for such a long time. Excellent bed! It does get a little hot in the Casita but the private beach membership permits you to park there for free and cool off in the pool or the ocean.

Gorgeous view!
The casita was exactly what we needed - clean, simple, affordable, secluded, and with the most amazing view of the ocean! Be sure and rent a 4WD, like Claire recommends- they graded the road while we were staying there, but before that it was pretty rough. The toucans that greeted us every morning were a highlight. I hope we can return to Costa Rica soon!

Well maintained.
This truly is a mountain rain forest cabin. Secluded. Be one with nature, as you will be. Keep in mind a semi-rough, but not bad road, like 15 min from the highway, is necessary to reach the property, when there , You won’t be bothered by anybody. Wildlife is plentiful.

Exquisite jungle hideaway!
Casita Kristina Maria was what we hoped for and so much more. We absolutely loved driving the road up the mountain, surrounded by tall green jungle trees and often seeing the beautiful blue morpho butterflies especially in the magical mornings. At the top, the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and the Three Sisters is simply spectacular. The casita is cozy and comfortable, with the lovely ocean view from the porch. Lounging on that porch, drinking coffee, we were thrilled to see and hear toucans, aracaris, parrots, iguanas, monkeys and many butterflies and hummingbirds. It is truly a private paradise, yet close to the fine restaurants and shops in Uvita, Dominical and Ojachal. Our favs were the Bamboo Room, Sibu, Marios and the Baker Bean. We have such fond memories of the many wonderful people there. And Claire and Bud are such great hosts! Best vacation ever! We loved it! Tricia and Nick from Austin

Wonderful vacation
This was the perfect place for our first time in Costa Rica. We had plans to go to different parks to see the wildlife. After the first day at the house we realized that the wildlife was right there off the porch. Every evening the monkeys moved through the area. We also were lucky enough see a sloth on the mountain road to the house. The town of Uvita had everything you need. Great restaurants and friendly people. I recommend this house for your next Costa Rica vacation.

Fabulous stay!
We had a wonderful stay at Claire's Casita! Well equipped accommodation nestled in the jungle with amazing views and jungle sounds. We were allowed access to the villa pool area which was a great bonus. We sipped pina coladas and watched the sun go down....it was heavenly. The Southern zone is relatively unspoiled and we spent hours on uncrowded, some empty, beaches within a short drive. Fly fished the trout streams, road trips to Rafiki Lodge and the Sauvegre River, the Boruca Village ...possibly the most breathtaking ridge drive ever! Please use Carlos or Henry at Bahia Ballenas Kayaking for mangrove trips, river and ocean trips and fishing, repelling, kayaking ..see TripAdvisor reviews. Bamboo Restaurant and bar with John and Janet, sunsets at El Castillo, Citrus, French Cafe Ojochal, home made French bread and pastries, HH on Weds. Dollar car Rental SJ was brilliant! GET A 4x4, off the highway most roads are dirt and steep...arrive in the daytime!!!! Claire's directions and tips are clear and concise. We loved her caretaker, Adolfo!!! We will return and will rent the spectacular Villa... pure luxury.
