The perfect place for a Skiing, Spring, Summer or Fall getaway. Enjoy the charm of the Town of Beech Mountain with its winter wonderland setting during skiing months as well as unhurried pace and cool temperatures during our non-ski season. The town of Beech Mountain is the highest incorporated city east of the Mississippi River with year-round comfortable temperatures (OK-maybe the ski season temperatures are darn cold, but it is winter on a mountain after all).
4900+ square foot log home in moderately wooded setting located near by town's recreational facilities and 2.1 miles from Ski Beech entrance.
Home's exterior is field stone and cedar shake. The Lodge's interior, which is almost exclusively wood, creates rustic atmosphere with modern conveniences. Wood beamed ceilings throughout. Many of the walls are 16'-24' thick hand-hewn logs. Interior materials are recycled from 148 year-old grist mill located in Chatham, Virginia; the 142 year-old Reedy Fork Mill formerly outside Winston-Salem, NC; and, a barn of unknown age and origin.
Living room, dining room, and kitchen floors are hardwood (area rug covers almost all of living room); all halls and bedrooms are carpeted and bathrooms are ceramic tiled.
Large living room with over-sized wood burning fireplace (firewood provided). Dining room is 10' x 35' and seats 30 at one sitting. Kitchen has flat-surface stove top, separate flat-surfaced stove with self-cleaning oven, combination microwave/range hood and two GE refrigerators with icemakers. Wood deck is 18' x 18' with perimeter bench seating and over-sized commercial gas grill. Ten bedrooms contain ten full-size beds and ten queen-size beds, three adult-size bunk beds as well as a twin-size sofa bed.
TV room has 55" Samsung flat panel smart TV with YouTube TV digital streaming service, high-speed broadband internet access, VCR/DVD player and surround sound system as well as a queen-size sleeper sofa, which may be used as eleventh bedroom. Third floor hallway has foyer with large window seat, sofa, and 42' flat panel TV with YouTube TV and a PlayStation 4 game system.
Off-street parking for up to eleven or fourteen vehicles (dependent upon vehicle size)..

Good place tucked away in the hills for a peaceful and relaxing long weekend away with 14 friends. We all had an excellent time at the cabin.

This house needs a total overhaul! We arrived to four bag of trash on the front porch that we had to remove. There were no clean towels-there were piled up in a closet. I called and texted the owner but he wasn’t able to do anything about the houses condition! Do not stay here! Dead trees fallen on the property. The furniture, rugs, shower curtains, toilets, shower heads, windows all need scrubbing! There need to be upgrades to include basic screens and rotten wood replaced!
I’ve never seen a rental this bad. I have reached out for a P refund and only had a cleaning fee refunded. The owner communicates but doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of his home’s disarray! The grill was filthy, the deck boards are rotting, there is rotten wood on windows, on the entrance walkway,. Some of the windows have no screens and they were all filthy with bugs and mold! And that’s important because it’s the only way to cool the house down… also, there was mold on a shower curtain and a shower head. A toilet that rocked and was “fixed” with cardboard to try to stop that problem. In a house for 30 people, you could hardly move in the kitchen! When you opened a cupboard door it hit the fan. And then there were the sheets!! Filthy, crumbs and other stuff were in the bedsheets. One of the bunk beds had been peed in and the sheets and blanket was still damp😮. The bedspreads were old and not clean. I will never recommend VRBO again.what kind of business is it that allows such properties!

A few Alumni members of our baseball team stayed here and enjoyed their experience. Everything was clean and well-looked after. The communication with the property manager was especially good. The directions were clear. All info we needed was provided. The building's history is very interesting. All around good stay.

10 rooms but they are all super tiny.
Top floor is like a hot furnace. No A/c, no fan. We couldn't use the top floor at all. People slept on the floor instead. 🔥
Bathrooms don't have soap or toilet rolls. Bring your own.
Washer and dryer don't work.
The owner /property manager is a gem of a human being. Kind and gentle. He was very quick with responses, and provided a lot of useful info. Perhaps that's the only good thing about this property that is worth mentioning.

From age 78 to 3 years, our family of 16 people, enjoyed staying here. There were a few issues because of the previous tenets but the owner was very helpful in working with us on everything. The kitchen was a little smaller than I had thought it would be for a house that can hold 30 people - but we were able to grill steaks, hamburgers and have taco night in our three night stay without any issues! It was a great weekend and John is great to work with!

The property worked very well for us with the exception of about an hour drive to our fishing location. Our host was very attentive and accommodating.

We love this house! Our youth and college group has been staying here on our annual ski trips for the last 10 years and it never disappoints. John is a wonderful host and will take care of any needs that might arise. Highly recommend!

The home is rustic and spacious. Close to ski resorts and Banner Elk. Our family of 13 had plenty of room and enjoyed a warm fire in the evenings.

One of my favorite houses I have stayed at! The location was great and slept 20 of us comfortably with room for more. Not only that the host, John, was incredible. His attention to detail with your stay and quick communication allowed for a great stay. He genuinely wants everyone to enjoy themselves. One of the most patient and understanding hosts Ive had!

Unique Log Home is a fitting description. The house has good bones, spacious and the location is beautiful. Space worked well for a family gathering of about 20 people.
Furniture and carpeting need updated, as do some of the bathrooms. But overall the space worked well. Did enjoy the large eating area.
That said, the house is in need of upgrades in appliances, furniture and carpeting. It is also in need of some general maintenance throughout..
Outside deck is a great space, with a beautiful view. However, it is in need of a good cleaning and staining. That said, host did give us a heads up. Firepit was enjoyable and we used it every night. Firewood was provided, which was convenient and appreciated, but no furniture was provided. The surrounding yard needs maintenance, grass needs to be cut, debris removed and some dead trees taken down.
All in all we had a great time with family and enjoyed our stay on Beech Mountain. The large, spacious house worked for our group.

We enjoyed our stay with such a big place and plenty of room for all 27 of us! The old house made it a quaint place to stay. Having 2 refrigerators and 2 stoves was nice for cooking for a big group. John was very helpful and kind. We would definitely stay there again.

John was amazing. The cabin was so cute. A lot of character. I love the way that a lot of the word in the house is 140 years old. John was so accommodating. There was enough bedrooms and bathrooms for all 24 of our guests to stay and then some. I would definitely recommend staying at the cabin again. It definitely accommodated are ever need. The kids love the fire pit outside and the fireplace inside. We had s’mores every single night.

Great property. Pictures were accurate. Had a larger family coming and this was perfect for all of us to stay. Parking was perfect. We had 8 cars and had enough for all and a few more.

The property was amazing. Plenty of fire pits, plenty of beds and even enough room for a Cornhole tournament out front. We mostly stayed in the house during our stay but we also made it out to some hiking trails.
The previous tenants broke a few things and they hadn't quite gotten fixed yet by the time we got there, but the owner was very transparent about the whole process and extremely concerned about our stay. Ultimately it wasn't anything day ruining but it's nice to see an owner that willing to work with you.

John was very helpful and welcoming. The house was super cozy and fit all 22 of my coworkers/friends very comfortably. It was a very short drive to beech mtn and not too far from banner elk and boone. Highly recommend!

My family comes together just before Thanksgiving each year to get our Christmas Tree. This home was a wonderful place for us to share. We had ample space to visit and plenty of beds. We were made to feel completely at home. We hope to return once again.

If your are looking for a modernized cabin, then its not recommended to go. Overall the expreience was wonderful meaning my family was able to see something different from the modern lifstyle that we are use to. John is a great host..easy to reach via landline and or cell if your service works. Nieghbors in area were friendly as well. Perfect place for relaxing and sight seeing .

We had a group of 22 people including 18 young adults and 4 parents staying in this cozy log house during a weekend. Weather was cool, piano was fun, and kitchen was not spacious but had all we needed. We even had a romantic bonfireat night. some door locks do not work well but it won't affect our stay there. More importantly, our young people had a Spirit-filled great time. We enjoyed our stay there. Thank you John for your hospitality!

The house is a little on the rundown side. We rented last week of July. The house was very musky and damp the whole time. No air conditioning, which if it had been a couple of degrees warmer during the day then it would have been bordering miserable . There was one very old and barely operational dehumidifier in the basement. If they continue without air conditioning in the summer then, at a minimum, there should be operational dehumidifiers on every floor. Linens and bathrooms seemed clean. No toilet paper or paper towels. We had to purchase these. Appliances very outdated but operating. (One stove top and oven weren’t used so don’t know about these. We also didn’t use the grill so don’t know about this either .). Plenty of dishes, utensils. cookware, and bakeware. Plenty of seating in the dining area. Beds were hard and several didn’t sleep well. Overall, it served the purpose for a large family to spend time together.

We took a team of cross country runners up to the High Country for training. There were not a lot of options that fit our price range and capacity needs but this cabin did. It was a little farther from Moses Cone State Park than we wanted but other than that it worked well for our needs.

Perfect get away
Everything was perfect the family I loved the whole experience! We were able to ALOT of deers just roaming around in the morning and evenings. We also encountered a mama bear and 3 cubs. They have something to do for everyone. The pictures are old and do t show the beauty of this place! I definitely wasn’t expecting all of that. And everyone had a place to sleep I think it was 30 of us and a dog. We even did s’mores! Please come prepared with jackets
