About this farm stay rental
Conveniently located in Hector, NY, on the east side of Seneca Lake. This beautifully renovated farmhouse cottage is bordered by vineyards owned by Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards. During warmer months, enjoy a glass of wine sitting on the large back deck while surrounded by grapevines. In the evenings, enjoy a relaxing evening on the deck around our gas-powered fire pit. The wrap-around front porch provides cool shade and wonderful breeze for hotter days. For winter rentals, the house is fully insulated and heated by a gas furnace, with an electric fireplace for ambiance and a cozy winter stay.
Inside you will find hardwood floors throughout the dining and living rooms, a kitchen with a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator with in-the-door ice and water. A few steps down from the kitchen is a cozy sunroom - perfect for morning coffee! The large full bathroom includes a washer and dryer for our guests' convenience. The second floor features two bedrooms with an incredible view of the vineyards and Seneca Lake from the master bedroom.
“Hector Vineyard Cottage” sleeps four to six persons – two in each bedroom, and two on the living room futon (with a queen-size mattress). Bedrooms feature two twin beds that can be arranged as separate twins or put together as a king-size bed with a comfy king-size mattress pad - just let us know what you prefer!
Other amenities: linens (sheets, pillow cases, blankets, mattress pads) provided. Guests should bring their bath towels. Pack and Play portable playard available. Public water. Charcoal grill (don't forget your charcoal), dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker and Keurig, toaster, ironing board and iron. Basic paper products supplied. Basic satellite TV service, smart tv, free wifi, and excellent cell coverage area.
Hector Wine Company is just across Route 414 – perfect for walking over to enjoy their weekend live music and a glass of wine on their patio. Be sure to check out their artisanal marketplace for fresh, local foods, including meats, cheeses, veggies, and more!
Some of Seneca Lake’s best-known wineries and restaurants are all within less than five miles from the cottage including Wagner Vineyards & the Ginny Lee Cafe, Scale House Brewery, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Leidenfrost Vineyards, Stonecat Cafe, Red Newt Wine Cellars & Bistro, Damiani Wine Cellars, Atwater Vineyards, Two Goats Brewing, and Finger Lakes Distilling. Enjoy wine tasting, live music and other “off-hour” events hosted by the wineries and restaurants.
Although we do not have lake access, Smith Memorial Park is just 1.5 miles away with a public boat launch, swimming beach, picnic facilities and a small playground. Lodi Point is about 10 minutes north, Clute Memorial Park is 10 minutes south, and Watkins Glen State Park is just 15-20 minutes away.

This was the perfect location for our stay at Seneca Lake. Everything was in driving distance and it was quiet and right off the main road. This little cottage was great for a birthday celebration with friends! Jen the property owner was easy to work with and kept us well informed for our stay!

Group of 4 - we had a WONDERFUL stay.
Property exactly as advertised. EXCELLENT location - especially for wineries on the west side of Seneca Lake - you can even walk to a few of them.
Great porch and back deck. House has everything you need and is very comfortable and clean.
Highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

We had another great stay in this little gem. It's such a central location, which makes it quick and easy to get to all of our favorite wineries and food spots. We recommend Scale House, Grist Iron, and Stonecat for great food that's nearby! We were also lucky enough to stay on the weekend, when Hector Wine Company has food trucks, and my friends loved the sushi they got there. The kitchen at the house is well-equipped and has everything you might need. Our group loved sitting on the back deck in the evenings.

Perfect location for what we were planning. In the middle of countless wineries to experience and scenic view to Seneca Lake. Short drive to Watkins Glen and Geneva for alternate activities.

We had a wonderful time ! Couldn’t ask for a better location. The house was very clean and had all the amenities. We sat outside every morning and night, great porch! The only thing that was difficult was the bathroom was down stairs on the main level so the steep stairs were a tad challenging at night. Otherwise I highly recommend this home !

Great property to stay at to do wine tastings. Its older and has some steep stairs to get to the bedrooms buy has a nice back deck and is right across from a winery. It also worked out great having two children under 1, if we needed to shoot home this property was within 10 minutes of every winery we went to. Would recommend booking

Property was centrally located to where we were looking for our wedding next year. We didn’t spend much time at the house but while we were there, it served us well.

Definite 5 star stay. Great location, clean, private, well appointed kitchen. Hope to be back when it's nice enough to enjoy the outdoor space.

My college friends and I just wanted a nice weekend get-away and this was perfect! We are in our mid-60's, but we hiked around the Gorge each morning, visited wineries in the afternoons, and grilled out dinner in the evening. The house was clean and well appointed. We had a great time!

This location was PERFECT for a group of adults looking to relax and visit wineries. We were able to drive to so many within a few minutes radius and then come back to the house for lunch and walk to a few others that were right there. The house was comfortable, cozy, and clean. Everything we needed in the kitchen, comfortable seating for the 4 of us in the living room and kitchen. Same for outdoors! Outdoor dining table and seats for id you build a fire. Owner was very friendly and responsive via messaging. We will be back!

This home overlooking the eastern side of Seneca Lake is perfect for a small group getaway. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable with a stunning view of the lake. Home is well appointed, though a light over the dining room table would help with the darkness when playing games. Stairway to second floor is steep and narrow. Take your time! Kitchen had everything we needed and shower has great pressure. Propane tank for the back deck fire pit was empty and a refill was not available on the southern side of the house as advertised. That was disappointing as early November is a great time for an outdoor fire in the afternoon. Super location, close to Watkins Glen and loads of wineries and breweries.

We had a wonderful time here!! It was great staying next to a working vineyard. We got to hear the canon and birds calls to keep the other birds away. We could see the storms over the lake and the surrounding areas. Really cute house to stay at.
Thank you!!

Really missed towels. We did not read the fine print that towels are not provided. Couldn’t shower for two days. We typically never pack towels when flying out of town for a vacation.

We had a great stay here and loved the location as it was close to many of the wineries we love. We enjoyed the porch, and there was plenty of space to hang out as a group on the back deck. The propane fireplace was great as it was chilly in the evenings we stayed. The beds were comfortable, and everything was clean and organized so it was easy to find what we needed.
The only downside was that there were no towels provided; we didn’t click to "read more" in the the amenities before arrival, but it is there. It just seemed odd becauee at every other AirBnB and VRBO property I've stayed at in the past, bath towels and hand towels for the bathroom are an included amenity. Just something to know before you go in case you tend to read the reviews more closely than the listed amenities. ;)

This was such a great place to stay for graduation. It was beautiful and peaceful. I wish we pack outdoor games but since we were also moving my daughter out we had limited space. We enjoyed a few wineries and a great pizza place all with in 2 minutes of the house. We definitely want to come back and enjoy all the wineries. Thanks so much

Had a wonderful friends weekend! House was nice and clean and welcoming. We did not have time to enjoy the beautiful porch and fire. It has a nice green yard to enjoy with beautiful scenery. Description in listing explains it all. Wonderful host. Thank you!

This is our second girls trip staying at the home and we love it here. The location is perfect. The owner is very sweet and communicates back with you every time you message her. We will be staying here every year moving forward.

The property was exactly as stated in the description. Communication with the owner was seamless and we were even provided with a complementary bottle of wine along with discount cards to nearby wineries. The house was very clean and came with anything that we could have needed in the kitchen. Thank you for a great stay!

House was a great place to relax. Good location to visit winiers and other sites near Watkins Glen. Nice house and had the weather allowed it would have been fun to sit on the porch and relax in the evenings.

Beautiful property near so may wineries! Cute home!

The house is "perfection"; clean, comfortable, cozy and complete with everything you could want or need!
We were 2 couples, making our 20th semi annual wine tasting trip to the area. The location was perfect for us to visit our favorite wineries and hiking trails on (& around) Seneca Lake.
The only drawback, we found, was that the property is very close to the main road and quite noisy (in spite of very good windows). This was most evident in the front bedroom.
The lake side bedroom and back patio were awesome!

We were celebrating our niece's wedding and were thankful for your VRBO accommodations.

Convenient to the wineries. Very clean and very very equipped with the essentials. Front bedroom was noisy with traffic on the main street. The back deck was great with the fire pit. The view was beautiful .

Was in the Finger Lakes area for the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen International Raceway. Our base at this property was perfect! Wine tasting across the road at Hector Wine Co was the best. Two Goat brewing for a great view and excellent beers. The house was clean, updated and had everything for making a few meals. Will definitely rebook when we are back in the area.
