It was a great place to have a large group with a great view. A little bit of an adventure to get there too.

The house has a lovely vibe and an amazing view! It was comfortable and beautiful.

Ajayan (host) communicated well and provided a lovely mountain cottage high on Dallas mountain with a beautiful view of the water and distant islands and mountains. It was a very meditative experience!!

Soectacular home with great views

This marvelous place on San Juan Island was exactly as advertised. The home itself is gorgeous. It has wonderful amenities, beautiful light, and it makes the absolute most of the incredible view it has of the rest of the island and the Haro Strait. The host is also fantastic – friendly, proactive, and easy to communicate with. Can't really ask for more.

The property was lovely. Very spiritual. It was very remote, and as other reviews have suggested, I highly recommend arriving when there's still some daylight if possible. (We arrived at night and it was fine.) Also, make sure to follow the directions to the house provided by the owners; Google Maps stops short of getting you to the destination. That said, it is a beautiful spot. The house was very well-stocked with spices, tea, coffee, dish detergent, etc. My one suggestion to be aware of is that the amount of space is a little misleading. Two of the rooms are quite small, with little space to unpack, so some of us "lived out of our suitcases" for the four days we were there. The other two rooms are quite large. We had not read all the reviews, so we were a little surprised to find a yurt quite close to the house, but to be fair, the owner's daughter, who was presumably staying in it in the evenings, was very respectful of our privacy. The owner, Ajayan, was very responsive and easy to reach if necessary. All in all, it is a beautiful spot, particularly if you want to be remote and in a gorgeous setting.

Property was peaceful, quiet and secluded with the most incredible views of Vancouver Island. We enjoyed the island visiting Lime Kiln Point State Park, Cattle point Lighthouse and Friday Harbor. Very nice home for a family retreat. Thanks to Ajayan for being helpful and available for any questions that we had.

Ajayan and his daughter Sudha were wonderful hosts during our stay, and it was reassuring that they live nearby. Our communication was instant, and they were ready to attend to any question or need without hesitation.
Views are spectacular, and the floorplan was perfect for our various families. We did most of our own cooking and the kitchen and dining areas were big enough for our clan. The wrap around deck provided play areas for the little ones, and evening guitar and sing-a-longs for the group.
We would love to make another trip to San Juan, and will be happy to stay here again!

Great place, great host.
The view you will remember.
Note to Host: please reduce the amount of items thru out the house. But what a collection tho.

If you seek peace & tranquility this is the rental for you. 4 bedrooms, 8 beds and sleeping for 12 assuming some are couples who sleep together. Perfect for larger groups that want a quiet, remote, rental with spectacular views. San Juan Island not that large so this location works wherever your island adventure takes you. I do not recommend driving to this location in the dark.

I had a wonderful time. The weather cooperated. Had wonderful sunsets. Could of used a bigger kitchen and more space to put kitchen supplies, groceries not needing refrigeration. Got into watching Virgin River at night. Went kayacking, whale watching... saw 27 whales and about 20 sea lions, hiked, saw the lavender farm and store, went to American Camp and British camp, the winery, and saw many Eagles. Thank You for sharing your home. Mary

We enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful and as described and depicted in the pictures. WiFi was robust enough for streaming and work purposes. We were late in making ferry reservations and originally had an 8 pm ferry scheduled. But were able to move it up at the last moment to the 4 pm sailing. This was good because the house is at the end of a curvy rural road and gravel lane with lots of turns and it would be very difficult to find in the dark. Entering the address in google maps will bring you close but will miss the very last turn so follow the printed directions and consult the actual google map.
The owners have a lot of Asian art and decor so it might not be the best rental for families with little kids who have curious hands. If our kids had still been toddlers I would have been stressed about all the breakables in the home. The master site is huge and gorgeous but is open loft-style to the rest of the house and sound echoes with all the wood. So not great if you want to sleep while others chat or watch TV downstairs.
The views are unbeatable and you can see the lights of Victoria BC at night. We will definitely return.

Went with a group of six friends and had a great time. The view is pretty unbeatable, and all the amenities we could have wanted were there. We cooked together with the gas stove and the grill and played games at the eight-person dining table—perfect for our stay.
The downstairs area with many (5) beds is a separate, locked entrance but connected via the deck. Would be perfect for kids or folks that don't mind the summer camp vibes of the beds crammed together.
The only thing to note is if you have a heavier two-wheel-drive vehicle (e.g. a minivan) you may want to park in the upper parking area and walk down, as there is a pretty steep grade on gravel between the two sections. We initially parked a minivan in the lower area and had to back it up the hill after the first two attempts spun the wheels on the way up.
This house is gorgeous, with beautiful windows and wraparound deck that the pictures don't do justice. You can stargaze at night, enjoy a misty morning in the forest, and watch the sun set over the islands in the distance at dusk. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

On a beautiful private setting with a wonderful balcony for enjoying nature, sunsets, the nightlights of Vancouver Island and opportunities for great walks in nature, away from the crowds and tourists. Worth the drive from Friday Harbor and another bonus..... short drive to famous Lime Kiln Point State Park.
4.8
This is a comfortable well appointed home in a very peaceful setting. It has all the amenities you might want in your own house. And … the sunset on the deck is spectacular.

Our multi-generational family of 9 had a wonderful week in this house on San Juan Island. The views from the house including sunsets are spectacular., and there are plenty of activities on the island. Our week was unseasonably warm, and we recommend a couple of additional fans for such times.
4.8
Worth the price and that saying something. If you want a peace you won’t want to leave for your entire trip, this is it. Best sunset in the island.
4.8
My friends and I just returned from 5 day stay at the Samadhi House. The house was comfortable and the owner was very helpful. The sunsets, star gazing, and bird watching from the deck were exceptional!
4.8
Lovely views from this secluded property. If you want to unplug, this is the place to do it. :) We got to see Eagles land in the nearby trees. Very comfortable beds and great directions from the host as to how to get to this property from the ferry line as it is a bit tricky.
4.8
This place was amazing! It is very secluded but has a fantastic territorial view of the Haro Strait, the Olympic mountains in Washington state, and the many islands in the strait and out to Vancouver Island! The place was beautiful and has all the amenities and more. A beautiful deck surrounds and the kids had their own place which is accessible form a separate entry on the downstairs level. What a peaceful, wonderful place to spend time with family!
Lime Kiln State Park with hiking, beaches and whale watching are all just a short drive down the hill. We really enjoyed our stay and can only hope this place is available for our next visit to beautiful San Juan Island!
4.8
The house is in a spectacular location and the views from the house and from the gazebo are absolutely stunning. There is everything that one needs to enjoy a great quiet stay on San Juan. We have also enjoyed dinners at Downriggers, Harbor Crab's house and please visit the Duck Soup restaurant. Of course, the duck is superb.
Overall a great place to stay on San Juan Island.
4.8
Spectacular residence on top of Mount Dallas. 25 minute drive to Roche Harbor or Friday Harbor through beautiful countryside. Well furnished with nothing lacking.
4.8
Can't beat this view, wraparound porch. Our teenagers were hesitant to come but once arrived were EXCITED by surroundings, avail indoor games, their own room! and nature activities. Wifi was of course essential for them, and we all took turns making dinner with well appointed kitchen.
4.8
Great experience. It is a little out of the way but that adds to its charm.

We just returned from a week at Samahdi House and had an outstanding stay. The property is situated at tree top level on Mount Dalas with breathtaking views of the water and British Columbia. Hawks and Bald Eagles were our regular companions while sitting out on the porch and enjoying the views. The property comfortably slept our party of eight people with room for more. Communication with the owner, both before and during our stay, was outstanding and prompt. The property is conveniently located to all of the sights that we wished to visit on the island and a short drive from Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. Being up a private road, it is also secluded enough to give the feeling of being away from it all.
We would not hesitate to reccomend Samadhi House.
4.8
The location and views of this property are amazing. The property is in a private area with houses tucked into the woods on the west side of the island. The house has a wrap around deck with views of the Straight and Canada...breathtaking.
The house is unique with many art pieces to admire. The kitchen was pretty well stocked, however there was not enough counter space to store all the food we brought for the 4 nights we stayed...so we kept it on the counters and table and in our boxes.
The A/C and fans kept the house comfortable even though temperatures had been warm during the day.
Our host was very responsive and helpful.
We had a wonderful time.
4.8
The views are spectacular and the location ideal for finding tranquility and peace. There are many places within the home that are conducive to building familial community and conversation. Great collection of books, too.
This home was a lovely place for our family to gather post-vaccination and celebrate birthdays and Mother’s Day. We would book again.
4.8
Lovely home, fantastic location and views. Convenient to explore all of San Juan Island and beyond, read, watch films, or birdwatch from the wraparound deck. We hiked and watched seals and sea lions at Lime Kiln State Park, explored both units of the San Juan Island National Historical Park, plus enjoyed a day trip to Orcas Island and Moran State Park. The house has all the amenities we could ask for, cooking each day for eight people. The kitchen is well equipped and modern, the furnishings comfortable, the overarching aesthetic soothing and restful. We cannot wait until our next visit. We’ve rented numerous properties in the San Juan’s over the years, this is now easily our favorite.
4.8
The property Description was accurate but cleanliness was poor. We had to wash sheets in two out of three beds, one sandy and one smelled of cologne. There was an infestation of fruit flies. Also we ran out of water three times while people were showering. Exterior Garbage cans were over full. We left a day early. The owner was quick to respond and help with the water. But overall it was not a comfortable relaxing experience.
4.8
Small group of friends and family met here to enjoy a long weekend together, and we had a great time. The home was perfect for us, quiet and peaceful, with good amount of space. The view was by far the best part, and being on the West coast of the island we got to enjoy the sunsets every night from the beautiful large deck. Downtown Friday Harbor is 15-20 min drive, so easy to access for groceries, but far enough away to feel like a true retreat. The owner Ajayan was very responsive to a couple things that came up while we were there, which we appreciated.

Our group of 10 stayed here recently to celebrate my 60th birthday. While the drive up the last part of the hill was a bit intimidating, the view from the deck and the floor to ceiling windows makes you quickly forget any troubles.
From the minute you enter this house you feel an immediate sense of peace and tranquility, and the natural beauty surrounding you is just overwhelming.
We spent our days exploring beautiful San Juan Island and in the evening we prepared some outstanding meals and just relaxed on the deck mesmerized by the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
Without television and electronic devices we spent quality time enjoying each others' company and everyone agreed it was a trip we will never forget.

At first step into this lovely home, we could feel the serenity and deep peace flow into our travel weary bodies. This house is beautifully decorated in an eastern motif which is peaceful and extremely well done. The furniture is ideally placed for maximum connections and conversations. The kitchen is a delight to cook in and words cannot express the joy of the scenes from every window and deck in the house. Our stay here was magical for each member of our 10 party family reunion. We will return to this paradise again! Thank you!!!!

8 of us enjoyed a sweet June stay at this hilltop home. Complete amenities and comfort, 4 bathrooms, everything expected for a comfortable stay is provided. The house is surrounded by tall trees that still allow full views over the strait to Canada.
The nearest shoreline (10 minutes' drive) is also the best shore for orca viewing on the island. We spent some picnic lunches there and saw bald eagles and a seal, however the only orcas seen were on whale watch boats.
We had cellular signal (T Mobile, ATT and Verizon among our group) at the house.
The owner responded quickly to a couple of queries.
Only cons to mention are very slow WiFi (apparently due to remote location), and no TV signal, although we did play a previously downloaded movie.
The final couple hundred yards to the house is a steep dirt/gravel road & driveway approach. We had light rain and were still able to drive to the house, I do not know if heavy rain would make access more slippery.

My family of 5 adults and 5 kids spent 5 nights in this spectacular home. For the adults, everything was perfect---plenty of space for gathering and for being alone. It was quiet, well-appointed, and comfortable--to say nothing of the beautiful deck facing west for the sunsets. Once the kids recovered from the fact that there was no cable and therefore no tv, they adapted to watching the large collection of DVDs! All of us loved it--including the teenagers who normally admit to loving nothing. Thank you so much, Ajaya. Oh, and we never did figure out how to work the overhead fans, which would have been handy!
4.8
Samahdi House was the perfect place for our celebration. It was very comfortable for our eight adults. We cooked all of our own meals and shared them together around the table. Coffee and cocktails savoring the view were enjoyed on the deck. The secluded location will make you want to stay and enjoy when you get there. We packed up for the day to minimize trips back up the beautiful, but steep road. I highly recommend for a larger group wanting to spend time together.
4.8
My adult daughters and I got together for some time away and found the house to be a perfect getaway. The views were beautiful. The house is very peaceful and clean. I was especially appreciative of the clean kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the house to others.
4.8
the only problem we had was the water pressure. the house is excellent for family reunion if you do have grown kids with their children. the downstairs unit is perfect for privacy.
4.8
Nice house lively view. The kitchen was well supplied. Both bathrooms have deep jet tubs. This made it difficult for 2 of our ladies that have knee and balance issues. There was a walk-in shower upstairs. Again, same issues. But we had a good time. The sunsets were amazing.
There are a couple things I wish we would have known before booking. It is on a primitive (rough) road with a steep gravel driveway. Some cars would really have trouble. Also, the fact that the entrance to the house is up 2 flights of stairs. The 4 beds on lower level can not be reached from inside the house. They are like a separate apt. I feel those things should be information to have before you decide to rent. If they are not an issue for your group, then enjoy your time.
4.8
Half an hour (uphill) from Friday Harbor. The drive is so worth it, as this home is a true retreat. Sitting outdoors and seeing Eagles, a black fox, and many deer as we chatted and inhaled the fresh air, was all we could wish for. 11 adults for a family reunion, and the house accommodated us all with quality linens, well equipped kitchen, books, DVDs, and beautiful art.
We played games (we brought some and he had someand took short trips to Lime kiln Park and Roche Harbor, but also walked up the road to a gazebo with another magnificent view.
Mr Borys is a pleasure to work with. He responded quickly to a few questions I had. The owner's manual was exceptionally thorough as well.
The house is even more attractive than the photos. And the views rivaled those of us who look out at the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic, and Pacific oceans on a daily basis!
I highly recommend this vacation home and would love to return someday.
