About this house rental
Modern mountain luxury awaits at this 5,000 sf stunning new construction home. Situated in the heart of Fenley Forrest, it is perched atop one of the most pristine and unique points in the center of Lake Glenville. It is nestled away in the canopy of the forest yet only a 15 minute drive to Cashiers town center and a 25 minute drive to the Main Street of Highlands. It is highly secluded yet a quick drive to all of the area’s amenities and attractions! The entry floor boasts 30 ft ceilings with a stunning floor to ceiling fireplace, an open floor plan and panoramic views of Lake Glenville. The floors are a wide plank, barn wood look, contrasted by soaring white walls curated with modern mountain artwork.
The professional chef’s kitchen is complete with a gas powered commercial grade stove that allows you to prepare a gourmet feast! It has 6 large gas burners, a 24 inch griddle, a broiler and 2 large ovens. The center island of leathered gray and white granite is so large, it invites everyone to participate, play and party in the kitchen. Flanked by 12 bar stools, it also serves as a fun spot for game night or setting up a breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet bar. Perimeter countertops are steel gray quartz. Other features include a large capacity professional series refrigerator, pot filler, microwave, dish washer, commercial style pull down kitchen sink faucet, and a large, double sink.
The laundry room has a high efficiency washer/dryer with a utility sink and ample quartz countertops for folding.
The dining room is more akin to a well-appointed banquet hall with seating for 14 at the sprawling Restoration Hardware farmer’s table. Ambient amber lighting casts a warm glow from the geometric two tiered chandelier floating above. The giant picture window is like a big screen featuring the motion picture of the swaying branches and rustling leaves of a centuries old tree. The dining room has grand sliding doors that open up to the covered upper patio’s outdoor fireplace replete with rocking chairs for conversation, aperitifs or after dinner drinks.
The master bedroom is truly breathtaking. Occupying 1,000 sf of sophisticated and secluded space with heavenly 16ft vaulted ceilings, some of the lake’s best views can be had from its 8 massive floor to ceiling windows. The white leather Italian-made king sized bed feels like a cloud floating through the treetops. For your electronic viewing pleasure, a projection television screen casts a 120” picture on the wall. A sectional sofa makes for a perfect reading nook or invite family and friends in to watch a movie or to enjoy the views in this master suite fit for a king and queen. A French door opens to the upper patio with an umbrella covered dining table for 8 and 2 lounge chairs. The master bathroom has a glass enclosed shower with dual high pressure showerheads, a rain shower in the midpoint and a steam shower. Opposite the shower is a picture window to enjoy forest and lake views while showering. An oversized Jacuzzi tub with lights and jet propulsion is ready to provide decompression and relaxation. The toilet room is separate and his and hers sinks and vanities sit on opposite sides of the bathroom. The master bedroom closet is plenty big to accommodate all of your vacation wears. It also stores a brand new queen sized mattress that can be pulled out to the bedroom for children wanting to sleep near and dear to their parents.
The main floor has a large guest bedroom with picture windows over the king sized bed, bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside. The shower is appointed with stone mosaics and a gray linen tile for a rustic modern feel.
The lower level has 10 ft. ceilings and breathtaking views of the lake. It’s bright, open and airy! There is a gas fireplace in the spacious living room, a dining table that seats 10, a ping pong table and a second full kitchen! The kitchen includes an oversized stainless refrigerator, dishwasher, full sized electric oven and microwave. The breakfast bar seats 4 and doubles as a wonderful buffet table. The 2nd sweeping patio is on this level as well as a staircase to the back yard to access the dock and lake.
The two bedrooms on the lower level include a guest suite with 2 queen sized beds, walk-in closet and beautifully designed bathroom. This bedroom has its own entrance and side patio. The bunk room houses 2 bunk bed sets. Each set has 2 twin beds and 1 full sized bed. This room could sleep 8 children comfortably. It has a walk in closet and a roomy bathroom with double sinks.
The fifth bedroom is a loft with its own half bathroom. The loft has beautifully pitched high ceilings, it's own climate control NEST thermostat and 3 full sized beds. Two of the beds roll into the wall when not in use. The loft is perched above the main floor and overlooks the living room, kitchen and dining room.
The home has Sonos, full internet, a wifi extender, at&t hub, (Verizon is the preferred carrier of the area for best reception.) It’s a smart home with remote electronic locks and climate control. There are 2 separate zones for central heating and cooling with in floor ventilation. There is an extra large Big Green Egg for the barbeque purist and an electric grill option. There is a rustic fire pit in the backyard down by the lake.
Our home has a gentle slope down to the lake making it easily accessible for all ages. One of Lake Glenville’s protected islands sits just offshore of the home’s 130+ feet of lake frontage. What a bonus! In the summertime, the water between the back yard and the island is shallow, providing the perfect swimming lagoon for children. And adults especially appreciate the balmy temperature this shallower body of water provides as the sun glistens and warms it the whole day through. During the Fall and Winter months, the water level of Lake Glenville is lowered by way of the dam. This creates a sandbar which reveals an enormous sandy beach spanning the estate all the way to the outer island. The island promises to afford countless hours of good old fashioned outdoor fun for you and your little pirates year round! There are plenty of activities in the area for kids and adults: shopping, dining, golfing, hiking, white water rafting, a sliding waterfall, photography, gem mining, horseback riding, antiquing and more.
For a luxury tropical getaway, less than one mile to the beach, check out our sister property on VRBO #1225527 located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

We had a great stay with children and grandchildren. The home was perfect with all accommodations needed for stay. The island was a hit for the grandchildren to wade/ swim over to play in knee deep water. The chairs by lake and fire pit was used for late afternoon relaxation after day on water. We ere able to hike several trails, visit waterfalls, and rent pontoon for tubing and sight seeing. The owners were very easily accessible through text or even a call at night when we needed assistance or ideation answered.I Would highly recommend this vacation spot!

This house was perfect for our 4 families! We spent Labor Day weekend here. The lake is peaceful and the house has a beach that was perfect for our large group. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the house, the dock, the beach, the kayaks, etc. the hosts are very easy to communicate with and accommodating.

Spectacular setting in isolated section along Lake Glenville. Spacious open floor plan with easy to use appliances.
Loved the stay, it’s a steep drive for the driveway and steep walk to the lake but worth the views as a small island easily accessible by kayak or swim is right off the dock.
Incredible wildlife in area as a bald eagle perched on the referenced island for several hours during the stay.
Highly recommend.

Property is everything you need for a large group, especially with Kids as there are spaces for everyone to spread out and do different things. The location on the lake was awesome! We pretty much lived out on the large sandbar. All around great place, great host, and great time!

The home was beautiful and so spacious. The pictures are completely accurate. Great week for family and friends to re-unite and get out of the Florida heat. The kitchen was so nice, it was almost overwhelming with all the chef's touches, but great for preparing meals for 16+ people. Only complaint would be there was very little tupperware storage for leftovers. Would recommend this home for large groups or multiple families. Love it!!!

This is our 2nd stay at this wonderful property on Lake Glenville. Everything about this house is wonderful. This trip we had multiple generations. The bedrooms were spacious and perfect. The kitchen made it easy for all of us to cook together and enjoy a meal together. The boat dock was perfect for us to dock our pontoon and have easy access for sunset boat rides or tubing galore for the grandchildren. And best of all, this house has the most spectacular view. We had a great week of relaxing, reading, and just getting to know each other again. We will definitely be back!

Memorial Day Weekend
The house was just as described. Lovely view. Very clean, and stocked with everything you need to cook meals. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. We loved the downstairs den/living room area for the teenagers to hang out. We rented a boat from the marina daily, enjoyed the fire pit and the chairs by the lake, as well as the fireplace on the deck.. I highly recommend this property.

Great spot for a long weekend
We spent a long weekend here as a reunion for six friends from high school. It was a beautiful home in a great spot on Lake Glenville. Mark and Jennifer were extremely responsive, and even came out on their boat to help us when we ran into boat problems out on the lake.

Nice view on a beautiful lake.
The nest was very spacious. It was a little too modern for us. However the kids loved it. And that’s what counts.

Great escape for large group
Our group of 14 had to find a new location for our annual Memorial Day weekend lake trip after our usual rental was sold. This house provided a great alternative! Jennifer was super easy to communicate with from booking through departure. The house is very spacious and well-equipped. We cooked all our meals onsite and the kitchen had everything we could possibly need. The lake access is very convenient (the walk down from the house is quite steep, but well-maintained and easy to navigate). I’d recommend this house for any group looking for a quiet escape on the lake front. Thanks for a great stay!

We truly enjoyed our visit to this lovely property! The views, the property, the luxury, the many fireplaces....all of it was amazing! We had a group of 17 and had plenty of space to move about. Now that it is getting cooler in the mountains, we enjoyed the weather and the fireplaces! S'mores for breakfast!

Amazing Views from Amazing Property
Men's bible study group annual weekend trip. This was the perfect property for our large group. Plenty of space in different areas of the house to socialize, play games (ping pong was a big hit), and watch football and golf. Mark and Jennifer are awesome hosts. I got responses to questions within minutes. The house was equipped with everything we needed. Kitchen had all the latest gadgets with commercial grade stove and oven. There's even a green egg, which we used for steak night. The location is situated on a point on the middle part of the lake where you have long range views on every level, including the huge master suite. Beds were all comfortable and clean. The entire house was spotless and comfortable. Just a really cool place with a contemporary look.
Lake Glenville is a frequent destination for us. I've rented other properties on the lake. This was one of the best.
Thanks Mark & Jennifer! Looking forward to our next visit.

THE NEST IS THE BEST!
Boat trailer issues made our trip home a bit bumpy, but nothing could dampen our moods because our week long stay at your home was so wonderful. It was perfect for my big family(adults and children). Lake Glenville is scenic, clean, and beautiful. We enjoyed being together, and there was plenty of room to escape for some quiet time. The mattress in the master suite is so comfortable! I want one just like it for myself. We had movie nights in the master suite and the living room, sometimes concurrently. The kitchen had everything the cooks of the family desired, and the outside cooking opportunities were put to good use(the smoker and the grill). The master bath shower was a huge hit with all the kids. They raced off the boat to see who could get there first! My oldest grandson questioned why the ones who took the longest showers always managed to get there first. Another grandson said the shower was actually a STUDIO! Sitting on the covered deck with rocking chairs was another plus! We sat and talked around the fire and did s’mores late at night with the sights and sounds of nature the only enhancements. The laundry room was great for our large family, and the ice maker fulfilled our ice needs. The cooler weather was surprising and welcome. The hurricane back home was no threat to us—NO WORRIES! We loved our stay! I heard several say they would not mind coming back for our next family vacation in 2022. Your house is just fabulous; the pictures do not do it justice. It superseded my expectations!

"THE NEST" is "THE" hidden secret on Lake Glenville
Held a family reunion for 16 (unfortunately 3 could not travel from Hawaii to join us, nor a granddaughter-in-law that is pregnant with her first child). The NEST proved perfect; spacious, well appointed (has everything you might need in the kitchen), was clean, comfortable, and decorated very nicely. The fire pit with many chairs provided many night of campfires" and nightly tales. The dock with shallow water being able to walk to the little island about 50 yards out is the absolute BEST swimming area on the lake. From the 76 year old patriarch to the 18 month old great grandson, countless hours were enjoyed by all members of the family in the water. Twas an absolute jewel of a place for a get away. And to make it perfect, the owners interface before, during and after our visit was immediate, personal and they went out of their way to insure things were proper. They were fantastic to work with, which made the evolution all the more enjoyable. Future visitors will NOT be dissappointed. Absolutely fantastic!!!

Perfect quarantine get away at Lake Glenville
After vacation plans abroad were canceled due to COVID19, we opted to drive to the NC mountains to meet up with friends instead. We were not disappointed! The home is stunning and even better than pictured. The kitchen is well equipped and the commercial stove/oven was perfect for a large group. We had a total of 7 adults and 4 children. Everyone had plenty of room with various sleeping options. While in the area, we hiked to view numerous waterfalls, went boating on the lake, enjoyed the kayaks, loved the views (especially at sunset each day), went white water rafting in Bryson City, and the guys went golfing one day. The weather is perfect at the higher elevation. Mark and Jennifer were wonderful and very helpful throughout our stay. Thank you for a great trip filled with amazing memories!

Beautiful view, waterfalls and fireplaces.
This was one of the most relaxing and beautiful spot I have ever visited through Home Away. Mark and Jennifer were so awesome we felt like inviting them in for a glass of wine. The space was great for our family because the young adults and teens had the bottom floor and the older adults had the upper floor. The waterfalls on the lake are beautiful. I would love to return.

Amazing long weekend away!
We had a great time at the Nest and can’t wait to go back. Jennifer and Mark were great hosts, very responsive and extremely accommodating. The house was really nice, comfortable, as described and well stocked with everything you would need and than some. Spent hours on the dock, fishing, kayaking and relaxing. The location on the lake is amazing, wish we could have stayed longer. Great proximity to the towns of Cashiers and Highlands. Spacious and well maintained, great for a family or a group. Enjoyed the views from the house and the deck, BBQ, fireplaces, fire pit, ping pong and games. We really enjoyed everything.

Awesome lake side home for big groups
The Nest is the perfect location for a large group gathering. Our group of 10 couples had plenty of comfortable space. The open kitchen and living rooms allowed the group to relax and enjoy quality time together. The kitchen is well equipped to cook for a large group. The porches and outdoor seating were perfect for enjoying the beautiful weather. A short walk down the hill and there is a nice sandy beach area where you can enjoy the lake. The Nest was a crowd favorite and we would love to return in the future.

The house was wonderful, spacious and well equipped. The drive leading to the house is typical winding mountain roads but it was well worth the effort. We especially enjoyed the lake.

Fun multi-generational week on Lake Glenville!
We enjoyed so many aspects of our week at The Nest. Most of all, the owners were very responsive to any questions in the planning process and once we arrived. Thank you, Mark and Jennifer! The house is so well-appointed with plenty of space for a large group and modern decor. Great kitchen with large island for preparing meals and dining. We had five young adults who enjoyed the spacious lower level and their own deck for cards and cornhole late night. Yet, there was plenty of room for us on the first level to dine together, enjoy the fireplace on cool nights and just hang out. The location of the house on the lake is fantastic with an island of butterflies and the occasional boater and their dog. We met some fun people while hanging out on the water. A little challenging if docking your own/rented boat so be sure to discuss this with the owner. A shallow area right in front of the dock is perfect for swimming (especially if you have small children) and football but not great for docking a boat. The walk to the lake required a slow pace for our grandparents but this was to be expected. We chose this house because of the mountains and the owners have carved out a nice curved path down to the water. We loved our visits in to Cashiers, Highlands and the local hiking. A perfect setting in the NC mountains!

A great home for a large family
We just finished our stay and at “The Nest” and had a great time. Our group included our seven kids; 3 son-in-laws and our daughter-in-law and 6 grandkids under the age of 5.
The Nest comfortably accommodated our group and was really good at meal time and on the lake. The host were very good at communicating with us.

Remote luxury for reconnecting with friends & family!
Amazing weekend on Lake Glenville! Jennifer & Mark's house is a dream...unlike any other structure that I've seen in this setting. Remote, mountain/lake combination but in a house that is as modern as a high end condo in a major global city. Sitting on the dock, walking out to "Buddy Island", trail runs on the quiet roads, grilling on the back deck, chatting by the fire...there's no shortage of great experiences to be had. We had an absolute blast...highly recommend making this your next destination!

Fantastic
Great family home away from home. We had 3 families and grandparents stay comfortably in this home. Plenty of open space; never felt crowded. Wonderful space outdoors for kids. We had 9 kids ages2-8yrs. They loved using the kayak, swimming from the dock and wading over to the island to build sandcastles. The beach near the dock was flooded due to lots of rain this season ( no fault of owners) but this did not detract from the enjoyment or fun. Great flat area down by the dock for a fire. Wonderful kitchen with all the amenities you can think of. We can’t wait to return next year!
