About this house rental
Bonefish Barbis Beach Bungalow Beachhouse is an oceanfront vacation rental located in Eleuthera, Bahamas (Fodor's Travel Guide said that Eleuthera is one of the most beautiful Bahamian islands).
This modern two bedroom/two bath house sits atop a bluff directly on the ocean with a panoramic view of a horizon full of whitecaps generated by nearby offshore reefs. Many of these reefs are within swimming distance in shallow waters. The house is surrounded by flowers, especially an assortment of different colors of bourganvillas. The beach in front of the house is virtually deserted and you can walk for miles either way on beautiful white/pink powder soft sand-- you probably wont see another person.

We got scammed at the airport in north Eluethera! Did not realize how rocky the beach would be. A little disappointed we were not told it was their off season and lots ofnthings closed.

The views from the home are amazing. It’s proximity to the beach is hard to beat. The summer heat in Eleuthera is brutal and the A/C in the main living area could not keep up. The power went out almost every day, but less than 1 hour each time. However, our local subdivision lost power for almost 24 hours, that left us with no A/C, wifi or ability to call for help. After not sleeping the entire night, I spent half the day locating & talking with the power company before power was restored.

Bonefish Barbis was honestly a home away from home! This was our first time to the island and we were comfortable the entire time. Barbi was very quick to reply to any questions we had and made us feel welcome at the house! I would absolutely stay here again, perfect quiet getaway!

Great floor plan - everything was functional although we didn't use the TV - internet worked fine when the power was on - lost power several times during the week, but that's expected. Saw a yellow-crowned night heron in the yard several days in a row - he may live there. Surprisingly private even though there is another house close by. The hedge and separate stairway to the beach make it seem quite isolated. Enjoyed walking Airport beach without driving.

You cannot beat this property for the price! Beautiful views of that turquoise water, lots of ships passing by in the distance. And the glow-in-the-dark countertops are icing on the cake!

I have been going to Eleuthera for over 20 years. Every home is different and being on a remote island has its challenges for property owners. This home sits on a great beach with plenty of privacy. It was very clean and the check in process was super easy. Some items are worn, but everything works. The bed in the blue bedroom sways and is super soft (the only negative). Awesome view and nice location.

My family of 4 stayed for 6 nights in late March. The house was clean and well equipped with comfortable beds. There are many chairs, coolers, towels, snorkeling gear, and even some floaties available for use. The view is amazing, I could never tire of the view. The beach is a short walk down a couple flights of wooden stairs. The sand is fine, soft, white with pink mixed in. You can walk for miles and miles in either direction. We will be back!

Wonderful location on the beach! Everything was just like it is listed! Perfect vacation!

This was a central location for us to explore both north and south of the island. The house is perfect with the bedrooms on separate ends of the house and a beautiful view.

The house is very comfortable, was very clean, and the kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans, dishes and utensils. The view is what you want when you stay at a house overlooking the Atlantic Ocean! If privacy, quiet, easy beach access and a chance to sit outside and check out the night sky is what you’re looking for, this is the place. Owner is easy to communicate with.

Great location on the beach. You will need a car to get around but a very enjoyable place to stay.

The home is very private with stunning views. AC, TV, WIFI, frig, hot water worked great and kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfortable and you could hear the Atlantic Ocean at night. The outside of the home needs some repair. Wood deck with shower and chaise lounges overlook a beautiful soft sandy beach. Lots of wooden steps down to the beach. Beach was empty most days but a few homes are located on the north side of the home. No homes to the south. Good visibility in water but few fish. Sandy deserted private beach about one mile in length to the south after you cross a rocky area by an abandoned beach house. Not many shells found. Restaurants, grocery, bakery and gas station in Governor's Harbor 5 miles south of home. Home is in a great location for exploring Eleuthera or for just staying home for the day ready and enjoying the deck and beach. Try to rent a 4 wheel drive if you like to explore. Lots of pot holes and rough roads. We would stay there again.

Absolutely gorgeous views! Practically private beach. The little cabana was the bomb. House accomplished all of our goals. A bedroom view was insane. It was pretty windy most of the time we were there so I did not get to snorkel out front. (tried once and got a little beat up.) Hoping on our next trip to get some calmer seas. We were there the week before Thanksgiving. Not everything was open yet but we did just fine. Did not realize that you drive opposite here. Adapted quickly. There are some major potholes so stay awake! Also if your looking for a glamorous island resort feel, not so much. If you want to slow down and chill...Eleuthera is the place.

We had the best time at Bonefish Barbis. The location is gorgeous. The private beach and crystal clear water is amazing. The property has everything you need. Barbi helped us with any questions - very friendly and fast to respond. We’d love to stay here again!

Barbara’s place was the perfect getaway for my husband and I! The views from every room in the house were unmatched and the beach had some of the best snorkeling in the island!

My husband and boys ages 7 & 9 had the best time on our trip to Eleuthera. Barbi was super responsive with any questions and suggestions leading up to and during our trip. I was BLOWN AWAY at the amazing reef located right there in front of the house. We saw all kinds of beautiful fish. The house was very comfortable and quickly felt like home. The neighborhood cat was so friendly and made herself at home too! haha. The sunrise was amazing to watch every morning while sipping my coffee. There were a few days when it was a little rough at our beach and we went across to Cocodimama, just a short ride away and it was super calm and amazing. Everyone we met on the island was very friendly. Our only regret is not getting to stay longer and getting shorted a day by American Airlines. We will definitely be back though!

I wasn’t expecting anything fancy, however I was completely taken aback at the state of the house. Upon arrival, a cat (to which I’m deathly allergic) was on the porch hissing. It ran in the house any time you opened the door. When you tried to shew it out, it hissed. There was a disgusting container on the porch where I’m guessing it’s regularly fed. The house seemed clean enough at first. the Wi-Fi never worked even though I followed all instructions. It wouldn’t even power on. It began to rain heavily on day 2. I was cooking breakfast when I began to feel drops of water on my head. Thank God we were at the house as the roof leaked in multiple places, it started leaking on my son’s backpack with his laptop and iPad. The air in one of the bedrooms barely worked and remained stuffy. The worst by far was the mouse traps everywhere, one WITH A DEAD MOUSE in the kitchen. Super frustrating that throughout entire stay, nothing was done to remedy any of these situations, INCLUDING removal of the mouse. The view was beautiful, but not worth it. Would NOT recommend this space.

This was the perfect honeymoon location for my husband and I. The house had everything we could ever need, and with steps going right down to the deserted beach it was an absolute paradise. Highly recommend!

Great place on the water. But 62 steps from top to bottom. Great snorkeling right off the house. Had the beach to ourselves except for the last 2 days. Ready for next year!

If it's views you're looking for, Bonefish Barbi's Oceanfront Glass House is for you! Our check-in was a little difficult at nighttime because the sign on the tree did not have a light. But we arrived so late due to the crappy airline we flew...Silver Airways....terrible! So I don't fault the owner for that. The next morning we woke up to the most spectacular views! I could feel the stress immediately leave my body! We had THE MOST relaxing vacation we've ever had. The beach in front of the house is excellent. We had it to ourselves almost as far as the eye could see our entire 10 days. Bonefish provides everything you need...beach chairs, beach towels, float noodles and blowups, ice chests, games, movies, books, plenty of dishes. We enjoyed reading the logs of comments by other guests. The glow-in-the-dark countertops are soooo beautiful! In addition, the location of Bonefish is perfect. You're right in the middle of the island. We explored all the way to the north end and all the way to the south end. Each end is only an hour drive from this location. Governor's Harbor has everything you need, only 10 minutes away.
Barbi was so great during the entire process; very quick to respond to any question I had. The furnishings are nice all throughout. Beds were super comfortable, and the house just has a warm, comfortable feel to it. Sunrises here were so beautiful and there was always a nice breeze. We can't wait to go back!!

This is a beautiful home and location, gorgeous views, excellent snorkeling and swimming. We enjoyed our stay so much, we did not want to leave! The directions to get there were very clear, the orientation packet that is located in the home was very helpful.

This house was completely perfect and everything we expected. It was on the Atlantic side with your own (mostly) private beach. There were other houses but we didn't see anyone on the beach the entire time we were there. The house had all that we needed for a comfortable stay (towels, blender, coffee maker etc.). It was very clean. The host communicated well prior to our arrival so there wasn't any need to reach out while we were on the island (but I'm sure she would have been responsive had we needed something). Every restaurant we went to had great food and atmosphere. It was close to Governors Harbor. We flew into N Eleuthera so we had about an hours drive but it was expected. Renting a car is a must. We spent our mornings on our "private" beach and afternoons exploring the beaches on the Caribbean side. Both were beautiful! While I loved hearing the waves crash at night, I also enjoyed the blue and calm of the Caribbean.

This is our 5th visit to beautiful Eleuthera. We left Maine in a snow storm and arrived at Bonefish Barbis in tropical paradise. As we drove up the driveway surrounded by palm trees and vibrant bougainvillea we immediately felt at home. As we entered the house we were drawn to the amazing panoramic ocean views, beach and reefs. We were excited to get out in the water and snorkel the reefs... some of the best snorkeling and beautiful fish during our vacation. The pink sand beach is lovely and you can walk for miles without seeing another soul. The house is comfortable and it was great to have 2 private bedrooms at different wings of the house with their own on-suite bathrooms. The outside decks and the views are amazing!! Barbi answered our questions promptly and was great to work with. We love Eleuthera and plan to stay at Barbis again in the future.

Just got back from two weeks at this property. Beautiful views greet you the second you walk in the door. I was a little leery about staying on the Atlantic side but was so glad we did. The breeze keeps you comfortable, the water is a little rough so we went to Cocodimamas on the Caribbean side to swim which is only a four minute drive. We loved our daily walks on our own beach. Hardly anybody around so it really feels like your own private beach. The bugs are much worse on the Caribbean side. House is laid out well with the bedrooms on opposite ends for privacy. Each bedroom had its own a/c as did the living room. You are close to Governors harbour and James Cistern. The glow in the dark countertops are awesome. I would definitely recommend this place. Barbi responds pretty much immediately. Be sure to check out the glass window bridge! People in Bahamas are very friendly.

Complete privacy as the house is the very last one on the road. It is one of 5 or 6 homes and we only saw 4 people on the beach the 10 days we were there. The house was comfortable, clean and had everything you need. You have the choice of a firm mattress or a soft mattress. We chose the soft mattress and it was very comfortable with beatiful views of the palm tree and the ocean. Beatiful views of the ocean from every room in the house. Once to go down the 56 steps to the the beach, walk to the right and go around the point for miles of unspoiled beach with nobody around and no houses, AMAZING!!! Thank you Barbie for amazing experience and memories that will last forever! I highly recomment renting BoneFish Barbies for the Dream Private Secluded Vacation! :)

Everything was perfect. All the utensils and cookware you could ask for to cook great meals. 5 minute drive to the town of governors harbour where you can buy groceries, liquor, and go to great restaurants. Truly a peaceful place with great views. House had beach chairs there and we enjoyed sitting on the beach and not seeing anyone for days. Snorkeling and spearing was awesome. I would bring your own fins as she had very small fins there and the current in the Atlantic is strong. The outside of the house looks like it’s weathered quite a few storms but it is a quaint and beautiful place that I can’t wait to go back to

My husband and two children (4 & 5 years old) stayed for a week after christmas. It was magical. The home is perfectly laid out for a family. The view and beach access (practically a private beach!) were amazing for all of us. Sandcastles and lazy coffee mornings everyday. The location is very near so many lovely short day trips for kids (cocodimama beach is ideal for 4 & 5 year olds and only a few minutes away). We stayed home way more than we planned because Barbi's is so well appointed.
Eleuthera has absolutely charmed us! We hope to be back soon!

You walk in the front door to the spacious and well appointed kitchen/living area and you see an entire long wall of sliding glass doors with a gorgeous view of the ocean stretching out forever. Comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms on either end offer privacy and their own sliding glass doors to the wide wraparound deck which has an outdoor shower. There are 50 stairs down to the beach. It was more seaweedy than it used to be but still so beautiful and we did not see anyone else on the beach all week. We love this place! We could never stay anywhere else on Eleuthera. Barbi was a pleasure to rent from- she has lots of knowledge information about this amazing island.

Wonderful beach house!
We spent a great week at Bonefish Barbi’s 5 Star beach house! The house was beautiful and had completely amazing views. Everything was very clean and well thought out. I loved the glow in the dark kitchen counters! The grounds were awesome and well cared for as well. Can’t wait to return!

Bonefish Barbi’s
Had a fantastic week at Barbi’s. You really can’t go wrong with either of Barbi’s side by side houses. Both are very clean and well stocked with linens, kitchen appliances, and beach items so you don’t need to pick up much more than food for your stay. Barbi is very responsive and will check in to make sure you’re settled in. The location is perfect for exploring the island - central to everything. There’s a beautiful beach behind the house and amazing views from the deck. This was our second visit to Barbi’s and we will definitely be back.

Amazing views and well laid out house for families
Bonefish Barbi's has an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean and some of best snorkeling on the entire island right outside its doors. The layout of the house is perfect for families and the amenities in the house provide you with everything you would need. Barbi is prompt and thorough with her responses - I felt very comfortable in all my interactions with her. She was happy to provide recommendations and provided clear directions about the property.
