About this house rental
Perched on a bluff with bald eagles around, the Captains Cabin waterfront home commands an enviable perch with a view that goes forever.
The entry way is through a vine covered arched trellis opening onto a cobblestone courtyard. Upon entry, you are surrounded by a courtyard filled with the Captains memorabilia, and a wonderful garden, complete with treasures from his years abroad.
The stairs lead to a manly entrance flanked by copper drains, and glass lighting from the Far East. The entrance hall is 9 feet high with magnificent art around, including a painting of his fastest clipper ship, the Enlim. Once through, you enter a great room unlike any you have ever seen, with ceilings up to 11 feet. At the heart of it is the Captains old dining table off the HMS Katania, the Captains first command; you’ll spin your own yarns with meals at this beauty.
Of course, there are all the modern conveniences and the finest hand built cabinetry. The kitchen sink is a masterpiece hewn of copper by Whidbey himself as a gift passed on to the captain from his descendants. The living room fireplace is trimmed in the richest burl, direct from the master’s quarters on the Kayana, one of the Captains most famous flagships.
Finally, there are the decks that surround the great room; with a grand view of Honeymoon Bay, the Captains bay.
Then there are the bedrooms...
The guest VIP has a king bed, vaulted ceilings, has French doors to its own deck and afternoon courtyard, as does the den; all with the finest electronics for personal entertainment.
The Captains bedroom is a magnificent affair, with the center king bed a four posted gift from Prince Sulawi, whom the Captain saved from pirates near Mindanao. The Armoir is one of the finest pieces of antique French walnut furniture of its kind, a gift of gratitude from Madame DuClair.
Of course, his room opens onto the same magnificent view; watch it changes as the sun moves across the sky.
The den has a desk, with sofa and TV with built in DVD and a comfortable sofa sleeper for extra guests.
On the water side there is a wonderful cobble courtyard. Follow a brief path out to the bluff watch where the Captain took his morning chicory, an exotic brew whose recipe was never divulged, even to the Wench. This wonderful spot is has a natural cabana of evergreens and Madrona’s...there is something magical and inspirational about this little setting, so unique and picturesque.
From the deck, there is also a winding path to the beach, and bulkhead where the Captain kept his dingy at the ready to go to his Katania, the ship he purchased from the Royal Navy upon her retirement for his own private corsair. The modern day Katania, one of the finest private yachts in the world, owned by the Captains grand nephew, was recently hailed by the actress Hilary Swank as the most beautiful in the world.

Very quiet, very clean. Can't ask for anything more!

The Captains Cabin is lovely. Beautiful, well-equipped, comfy bed, wonderful setting on the bay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay--if only the owners could have brought us some sunshine too! We just happened to pick the only 5 cloudy, rainy days in weeks. But lucky for us we had these great accommodations to return to each day. Highly recommend.

This property was wonderful! The view is hard to beat. Check in was easy and the two minor questions we had were answered quickly. There is a 3rd room with a queen size bed which was a welcome surprise (we were thinking it would be a sleeper sofa). The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils. I think for safety/health purposes no spices are kept, except salt and pepper. So plan on bringing your own. This is truly a beautiful home with amenities galore.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was so refreshing and relaxing at the same time. Beautiful location even had a deer at the back area and a bunny. We would have loved to stay longer but had to go back home. This cabin was equipped with almost anything you might need. Can't say enough good things. If we would return, We would love to stay in the cabin again.

Charming, cozy, and comfortable. The outdoor spaces were lovely and lush, and indoor spaces clean and warm. Loved being perched above the water with tall trees. Enjoyed the spacious hot tub after cool day of rain. Quiet, private and excellent location for South Whidbey. Enjoyed near by hikes, Greenbank Farm, gardens. 15 minutes to both Coupeville and Langley. Wonderful stay!

I sent my parents up for their anniversary. They were enchanted by the home and its beauty as well as the beauty of the surrounding property and locale. I am looking forward to going back myself maybe in the spring or next fall.

Spent a wonderful two weeks on Whidbey Island on Honeymoon Bay! Definitely worth a visit. Captain’s Cabin was a perfect place - very comfortable and clean with a great view of the water.

This property is a beautiful 3 bedroom home. Very clean and well maintained. The beds are very comfortable. (All 4 guests who stayed here, are very picky about beds, and we all agreed the beds were great.)
The kitchen is well stocked with appliances. (However, if you are cooking, bring your own spices as there was only salt and pepper. Also, bring your own coffee.)
The home itself is only a 10 minute drive into Langley, and there are many places within a 10 minute drive to go walking.
The only drawback, is while the house has a wonderful view of the sound, it is also a bit dark due to the number of trees. Nonetheless it is a great place.
Also, Gina the owner was very responsive to questions and helpful.
If looking for a place to stay on Whidbey this is a home we'd recommend.

This is a beautiful space! The setting is so serene and lovely. We did have problem with the internet connection, and while the couch is nice, it is wearing a bit.

We enjoyed a very cozy two-night stay in December. This beautiful cabin with a nautical theme was perfect. We enjoyed watching seals in the bay, the hot tub with a beautiful view, and a cozy fireplace. Great location to visit Langley and Coupeville. Hope to be back!

Lovely "Cabin"
My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. The home is beautiful, warmly decorated, and gives one the feeling of visiting a past era while providing all modern conveniences. The beds were comfortable and of course the view and location perfect.

Beautiful views
The property has exceptional views of the water. The pictures don’t capture the full beauty of the house or views. We enjoyed dining out on the deck. The beds are super comfortable and the property has everything you will need.

Pictures don't do it justice!
We were thrilled to find this was a 3 bedroom, with two full kings and a queen bed. The master is exceptional, so much living space and we appreciated the patio and huge shower. The home is breathtaking, with handcrafted beauty everywhere you look. The kitchen was equiped with everything we needed, you can buy groceries at a local grocery about 15 minutes away. The views are amazing, hot tub was HOT and wonderful, and we also enjoyed the games and movies. A family would be very comfy here! Gina was great at checking in prior to and after travel and making sure we had a good time. We will definitely returning!!

Lovely stay!
Excellent house- the pictures do not do it justice. So you all know- this is a 3 bedroom house- although when we booked, it was listed as 2 bedroom.
It truly was a lovely stay. Communication with Gina was easy and timely. Hot tub and grill were put to good use!

Perfect weekend getaway in nature
My friends and I needed a peaceful weekend escape and Captain's Cabin was the perfect solution! The property looks just like it's pictured and is even better in person. Very clean, quaint, quiet with expansive outdoor seating. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook fantastic meals and a closet full of games provided some fun memories. Our last day included relaxing in the hot tub while overlooking Honeymoon Bay and watching a bald eagle soar overhead; incredible end to a wonderful visit. I highly recommend this property and would not hesitate to visit again. Thank you Gina!!

My wife and had a fantastic time at the Captain's Cabin. It's a beautiful place with relaxing scenery. Settling in to the hot tub with a glass of wine to watch the sunset is fantastic!
We will certainly be back, and can't recommend it highly enough!!
