About this cabin rental

Awakening Spirit Retreat is a 3 Bedroom 2 Bath cabin that is located on 8 wooded acres that are yours to explore and hike during your stay. The cabin has a separate garage that has been closed in that is home to Awakening Spirit Massage Therapy and Hypnosis Monday through Friday. The entire cabin was originally used for the business until we closed off the garage so that we could live there during the construction of our home. Our new home is now complete and we wanted to share the simplicity and tranquility that we found while our family stayed in the cabin. The cabin has a covered front porch perfect for drinking your coffee and watching the wildlife as you wake up in the morning, an open back porch with plenty of seating, and a fire pit that is perfect for enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine. There is a game room in a separate building that has a dart board, pool table, and separate refrigerator. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen that has most of the basic utensils you will need, and a charcoal grill on the back porch. It has a central heat and A/C unit, as well as a wood burning fireplace with wood provided. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and adjoins a full bathroom. The second bedroom has a full size bed, and the third bedroom has a queen size bed with a twin bunk above.

The cabin is close to town but far enough to get away from the crowds. It was nice to hear the owls and other wildlife while on the porch at night. There is only one TV in the available bedrooms which is located in the "kids" room. Cell service is good. The owner was always fast to respond with any questions.I have added it to my places to search for in Starkvegas. Hail State!

This location was great being roughly only a few miles from the MS State campus which made it convenient to just drive over and attend the events we needed to be at. The home was well cared for and clean, and owner responses to questions were very prompt.

This property was just as described. It was close to MSU (about 3 miles), but far enough away to feel like a private retreat. Russell was a great host and was quick to respond to any questions. We hope to stay here again in the future.

This was our second time to stay in this peaceful oasis. The grounds are so well kept and hanging out on the deck was relaxing. There are some games and movies for rainy days.The kitchen is equipped for meal prep but bring your coffee and food with you. There was basic salt pepper oil and sugar packets when we were there. Would definite stay again.

Our family stayed here for our daughter's graduation from Mississippi State. It was our second time staying here during her time at State and it was, once again, perfect. The house has plenty of room, and the spacious deck is so nice. We were moving her out of her townhouse and had a U-Haul trailer full of her stuff, so it was great to have plenty of parking space as well. We love that it's so close to campus, but away from the hustle and bustle of town so it's quiet and private. Highly recommend this little sanctuary!

Had a wonderful stay and the property was gorgeous, private, and clean. We really enjoyed staying in a peaceful environment. I needed to speak with the Russell’s about the property and checkin. They returned email right away. No complaints at all.

This cabin was the perfect spot for our game day weekend. It was close enough to get to campus quickly but far enough to get away from all of the traffic. I definitely recommend staying here if you need a spot for two/three couples with kids.

This property is just right outside of town, which was so nice to not have the busy game day traffic, but at the same time be close enough to town and family when wanted. We loved this property! It was perfect for our baby, 12, and 14 year old! Everything we could have wanted was available as well; this host is on top of it! Thankyou for a great weekend!! We will be back!!

We loved our Awakening Spirit house experience and recommend anyone staying in the Starkville area to check out this unique property. Russell was easy to get in touch with if we needed anything, which as it turned out, we did not. The house was so well equipped and well stocked that we were able to cook almost all of our meals there. Even though the wifi was at times spotty, we did not lose power when a truly serious storm blew through one night. Next year when return to the area again for our son’s baseball tournament, we will surely be contacting Russell and his family to see about repeating the awesome time we spent awakening our spirit!

Wish we knew about this property before. Our daughter attended the University of Mississippi and we only found this on her final year. The forest, cabin, fireplace, game room, patio, etc. Just perfect. Great communication from property owners. Lovely.

We stayed in this property while we were playing a golf tournament at Old Waverly. The property was as advertised and was perfect for what we were looking for. Located just about 20 minutes from Old Waverly and less than 10 minutes from Starkville, the location could not be better. We will be back!

My family met for Christmas in Starkville to be with my 93-year-old mother, who lives in an assisted living facility. We were so fortunate to have found such a quiet oasis that housed all six of us relatively close to town, but I wasn't expecting to feel so at home there. The owner provided every detail to ensure our comfort. I was actually sad to leave the place! I will definitely choose this rental the next time I return to Starkville.

Me and a group of friends were in Starkville for an MSU game day. This house was perfect for us!! Close enough to town for Uber but far enough out to be quiet and spacious. Came to Starkville to celebrate a graduation from MSU. The cabin was a perfect spot for our family! We were an easy distance to the Wildlife Refugee where we spent an afternoon exploring and downtown Starkville for celebratory dinner. After dinner, we enjoyed a nice bonfire at the cabin that was set up and waiting for our use. The cabin was clean, quiet and very family friendly. We found the listing to be accurate and the owner/agent to be accommodating and responsive. We would definitely recommend this spot to others and hope to stay again on our next visit to the area.
