About this house rental
(Free 2 kayaks to use/ Fast WIFI included/Strict 6 guests limit)-The house is a cozy older waterfront home on Hood Canal awaits your visit. You will be blown away by the view you'll see of the beautiful canal through floor to ceiling windows when you walk in the front door and look past the kitchen to the living room and the water beyond. You can enjoy watching eagles during spring and summer fly by or sea lions and seals and an occasional whale frolic in the water. Or perhaps you’d rather set out to scuba dive for octopus just 150 yards from the house. At the end of your day, grab some marshmallows and roast them in our fire pit, just a few feet from the edge of the water and also enjoying a beautiful sunset while cozying up to the fire.
The kitchen includes a breakfast bar and dining area. It opens into the dining room and living room where you will enjoy the incredible view of the water. Take in water view while sitting out on one of the two oversized decks at night looking at the full moon’s reflection on the water is a great way to relax at the end of your day.
The living room has an insert fireplace and space for family gatherings and activities. Downstairs in the first floor is a ping pong table, air hockey, 2 person shooting basketball game, Gamecube, and kids can have their own space for games, and treasures you find on the beach.
Our kitchen is stocked and our dining area with a table that seats six, or enjoy eating outside on
one of our two decks while enjoying the view.
If you prefer to not cook, The Halfway House nearby is famous for excellent home cooking and homemade pies. Esquire magazine in the past has chose the nearby Geoduck Restaurant and Tavern #2 for “Best Bar in America,” and Pleasant Harbor Marina, just up the road, offers superb pizza and sandwiches.
The home offers four bedrooms, two upstairs and one on the main floor, and two full baths. One bedroom has a Queen-sized bed with night tables, a dresser and closet. Another has two bunk beds and a closet, the third has a queen bed and armoire, the fourth bedroom has a full size bed.
Bring your fishing poles and check out the many rivers that flow into Hood Canal.
Nearby Dosewallips State Park, with acres of clams and oysters and geoduck, is also a great place to beach comb at low tide. Brinnon is a hiker’s paradise and there are spectacular trails and breathtaking waterfalls in Brinnon or in the nearby Olympic National Park. Or check out the great mountain biking trails. Divers can see several species of rockfish, octopus and all sorts of crabs in one of the best diving locations in the Northwest, and diving gear can be rented close by. A little further down the road is Mount Walker. A short drive up the mountain at the scenic view area, you will be blown away by the spectacular views of the Olympic Mountain range and turn your head back east and see the City of Seattle skyline. According to our guests, our house on the edge of the Olympic National Park is an ideal location as a base for their adventures to explore the park. Olympic National Park covers 922,651 acres of three distinct habitat zones, the alpine region, the coastline and the temperate rain forest. At 1,441 square miles, the park is larger than Rhode Island(1,214 square miles). In 1976, the park was named an International Biosphere Reserve by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, the park was made a World Heritage Site by the World Heritage Convention.

Great place to stay right on hood canal has everything you need to keep the kids busy and entertained. Interior a bit dated but everything was clean and can’t beat the views and convenient location.

This was a great place to enjoy the Hood Canal region. About 52 minutes from the "Staircase" Olympic National Park entrance which is a great hike. Port Angeles is about 1 hour 20 minutes away the opposite way on 101. If you want to spend the day in Seattle, you can take a ferry from Bainbridge about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. You can park there and take the 35 minute ferry to Seattle. But Bainbridge is absolutely a lovely town (it's an island). Overall, it was great. If you're a neat freak and want a more modern home, this might not be your place. The bathrooms are small and dated and a little user unfriendly (not a lot of space to put your stuff, hooks to hang towels, etc.) and the toilets are sensitive. The 2 level decks are wonderful for relaxing and taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings and the main living area is just stunning and offers plenty of room to cook and serve meals. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with the exception of coffee mugs and forks. They can use more of those. We didn't use the kayaks (we didn't see those) but the weather was a little cooler than expected. We enjoyed the fire pit and saw eagles and wetland birds and sea lions. Overall, a nice place to stay. One more thing, if you are sensitive to fragrances, you may want to ask the owner to remove the plug in fragrance. When we arrived, the fragrance was overwhelming and made us cautious. We located it and unplugged it for the duration of our stay but it did linger.

This location has both scenery and serenity! It was the perfect place to relax, spend time with the family, go kayaking, take in the beautiful surrounding, and visit the many nearby locations.

We planned a family vacation and this property was perfect. There was plenty of room for our kids to have their own room & then some. Basketball hoops, ping pong table, air hockey, & board games were among the entertainment this beautiful property has to offer. The views provided so much relaxation and watching the eagles fly by directly in front decks was spectacular. The owners were extremely hospitable.

There is basically 4 levels of this house that has a different views and experiences. Kayaking, air hockey, basketball shooting thing. Great experience for the whole family. Cant say enough!

This is our second time here. We had another great stay. The house overall works well for our group and is spacious enough to not feel cramped. Kitchen is very small but has most of the necessities you would expect when visiting a rental home.
A couple small suggestions to owners:
-update TVs to be streaming capable
-put a DVD player in the main living room so folks can take advantage of the huge DVD selection and have a group movie night
-clean out the cabinets in the kitchen so that people have a place to store the food/items they bring.
Thanks again for a great stay!

Beautiful place with excellent views. We very much enjoyed our stay. We saw sea lions or seals from the deck. The kids loved the game room down stairs and it was nice to get them away from electronics with old school games. If I were to make any suggestions would be the couches are not comfortable for snuggling but we wanted to be outside as much as the weather allowed. Thanks for the stay.

Very disappointed in my stay here for our little anniversary getaway. While the surroundings are great, lots of state parks and recreation areas, right on the edge of the rainforest and everything... The house was pretty dirty and in need of a deep clean. I noticed lots of low quality items and work during my stay, I can't help it, I do remodeling and repairs for a living. A number of things were broken ranging from sketchy outlets to furniture to game room items. When we arrived, the door wasn't locked which was strange but it's in a remote area, so it's unlikely some weirdo would let themselves in. Our biggest issue during out stay was that the property listing was inaccurate. The listing showed in 3 places that it had a hot tub, I have the screenshots to prove it. When I searched for properties on VRBO, I checked the box for hot tubs, so this one came up. I was only looking for places with a hot tub to enjoy. When I brought up the issue with the property manager they were unresponsive until the next day. When I messaged the owner they were unresponsive until the next day when VRBO called them with my issue. Upon hearing from the owner they were dismissive of my issue and made no attempt to correct it. In the past when I have had similar issues (but not this bad) the home owners were responsive, very apologetic and worked to fix the issue immediately or offer a refund. This was definitely not the case at this rental. Renter beware.

A beautiful house with the best views of the canal, sunrise, and sunsets! The house met all of our needs with prompt and easy communication with the owners.
Thank you for a wonderful week!

Everything about the house was easy and allowed us to rest and visit. Loved the deck looking over the water. Manager was a great communicator. Would definitely recommend this rental to anyone!

Joined friends for a week visiting the Olympic Peninsula and this house served as our base camp. The views of Hood Canal are amazing and the house contains everything you need for your stay. The owners are responsive and the instructions are specific (which we always appreciate). From here we did Blue Mountain, the Hoh Rain Forest, whale watching in Port Townsend, and Mt. Rainier. And lunch at the Halfway House in Brinnon is a must do. Great trip.
5.0
House was in good location to head north to Olympic and south to Seattle and Mt. Rainier. Kayaks, fire ring and two decks to enjoy the water and wildlife.
Wifi, tv and a small game room to keep you busy when in the home.
Stop at the grocery stores coming to the home to get food, alcohol and firewood.

We stayed here for 5 nights, with folks ranging in age from 10-78. And we all had an amazing time. There are steps if that’s a problem for anyone. The sound is beautiful, the water always changing. Great tide pools, tons of eagles, otters, seals. Kayaking was great. Found some great nearby trails on AllTrails app that were empty and gorgeous: maple leaf trail, staircase and Murhut falls were breathtaking. House was functional, clean and comfy! Just needed more forks. ☺️

2 decks overlooking Hood Canal. Really comfortable spacious home right on the water. Watch the tides come and go while seals and eagles cruise the water. Hiking trails close by.
A can't miss location to enjoy Olympic Rainforest.

Had a lovely time here. Used the kayaks provided and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sat and watched Bald Eagles and a few otters from the deck. Very relaxing surrounded by nature.

This home had it all. It was comfortable, relaxing and clean and had nice access to the beach via a trail. We made good use of the two kayaks and both decks. Our family had a wonderful time reminiscing our days on the Hood Canal. I would stay here again.

The house was amazing! It was one of the most well stocked kitchens in a Vrbo I’ve been to. The view was beautiful, the location was very isolated and the house itself was really nice. The host called and gave me all the best tips for how to get there and how to navigate the area. I would absolutely 100% come back!
**There aren’t any gas stations close by so fill up before you get to Brinnon. There also isn’t much in the way of groceries so also stock up before you get here. Both of those things we did and so it wasn’t a problem. But just incase it’s not something you consider like we do!
LOVED our stay!!

This house was perfect for us. The views are stunning, and the beachy area at low tide provided so much fun. We took advantage of all the house had to offer: the fire pit, the kayak, the ping-pong and air hockey tables, etc. The great room of the house is perfectly laid out, and while the bathrooms and bedrooms were on the smaller side, it made NO difference as they were perfectly suitable and we hung out either in the great room, downstairs, or outside the whole time. There were good restaurants to the North and South, and hiked in the nearby parks. And we were there in Winter!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the view from the decks and the area. Close by to hikes and tasty seafood, including Hama Hama Oyster Saloon. Memorable family stay to celebrate a birthday, including fun game night. A well equipped kitchen, as well as entertainment with games and activities for family fun. Would definitely stay here again. Hosts were friendly and helpful.

Our Vrbo was everything we imagined and more. It was beyond perfect. Everything was easy, smooth, from check in to check out. The house is ao spacious, perfect for families. The game room on the lower level was a favorite amongst my teenager. The view from the balcony, the little walk onthe shore it was so breathtaking. If we find ourselves in Brinnon again we will definitely stay here again…

The house was in a great location, overlooking the beautiful views of hood canal. Restaurants and grocery stores were close by and hiking trails of the beautiful Olympic Rain forest were also close by. The house was comfortable , clean, and fun. We had a great time there.

Really enjoyed our stay here! Weather was great! Views were beautiful! Beds comfortable and no complaints! Would stay there again!

The location of this home is what made it special. That’s a 5/5! Waking up to the beauty of the water and wildlife was spectacular. Being able to kayak was a highlight as well. My kids also had a blast in the game room in the basement. However, the interior of the home needs a really good deep clean. It was neat, but not cleaned well. The home was also not well equipped with kitchen supplies and what was there was old and warn significantly, that includes the BBQ stuff, I flipped my burgers with a metal spoon and drank wine from a mug. I would also recommend some new pillows and comforters. The beds, sheets, and blankets were good. The deck boards and railings too were a concern. All that being said we discussed our concerns with Lou and he was very fair and reasonable in addressing our issues. He made mention that he will be doing work on the home after the seasons end. I would not let these things deter you from renting this home because truly it was a beautiful location with a great deal of potential. My family still had a wonderful time despite some of the inconveniences.

Beautiful home, our expectations were exceeded. Wonderful! place to kayak and explore. We saw plenty of hood canal wildlife, and would absolutely come back. We used it as a base to explore the Olympic Peninsula, but crunched two outings, into one day, so we could have another day to explore the canal. A beautiful home in a beautiful part of the country.

We enjoyed our stay, the house has a beautiful view. The location is close to hiking and restaurants.

The property had its charm, but that was diminished by the high level of unattended to maintenance in general, and definitely substandard cleanliness’s .The filth was visible and the entire family was having highly abnormal allergy problems. There were no cleaning products with disinfectant available to guest. The homeowner did allow us access to the housekeeper cleaning closet, but nothing in there but Clorox wipes. After going to buy cleaning products to disinfect, we decided to attempt to vacuum.. the vacuum was so nasty and clogged with dirt and hair, we had to take it apart, deep clean, and cut out all of the hair jamming the rollers. Once clean… we filled an entire canister on just the downstairs area rugs alone. There is NO way those have been vacuumed properly in a long tine. Now to the mop. The mop-head was black with dirt and stunk so bad we did not even used it, we just swept. Thought about washing it… but decided shouldn’t have too as guests. We were instructed to not removing the bedding….but the all the bedding smelled like BO. We all slept on top extra blankets on top the bedding… trying to resist the instructions to not wash the linen. There is no way those are taken “off-site” to clean. Next, on to the grill. The grill was so filled with grease and carbon, it caught a blaze within minutes…so hot I had to disconnect the propane and remove the tank. We were a minute or two from having to grab a fire extinguisher.. I should have checked it… but shouldn't have too.. Since this was our first day…we cleaned it at least to the point of safe to operate and sanitary. As far as the rest of the property cleanliness…. none of the outdoor spaces and large decks/furniture were so much as even wiped down prior to arrival so we did it in order to enjoy the space. Other than the safety issue for the grill, there were loose boards, planks, stairs, and my 3 year old grandson almost fell through one of the deck rails on the second story deck railing that gave-way. Luckily I was right there. On a good note….it was still good to get some family time away, we enjoyed the kayak, catching crabs, and hiking/biking at sone of surrounding easy bike trails for our grandson. The .property has potential but would not recommend staying there at that cost or with small children. Although we received a refund around the cost of the cleaning fee, unavailability of regular/scheduled maintenance or cleaning crews should not be a guest concern.

View from deck is spectacular. We watched harbor seals and porpoises. Needs some maintenance but comfortable. Bring what you need in the kitchen as pans and utensils are lacking.

Loved the views here! Even had a bald eagle fly right in front of the windows! The owner was great at communicating with us about our stay & details about the property. Only wish we were closer to Olympic National Park, otherwise our stay was great!
5.0
The decks here are amazing. We enjoyed watching dolphins & seals swim by as we drank our coffee/wine. Our kids loved the game room, dvds, & the ocean access so they could find crabs, sea stars, jellyfish, and other sea creatures. The home could use a little updating but the views make up for it. This served as a nice basecamp for us to explore Olympic National Park and we always rushed back to watch the sunset on the deck.

Eagles!
We booked this home because we wanted to see eagles -- and the eagles did not disappoint! We watched two adults and their fledgling fly so near us. Incredible! It rained most of the time we were there so we were grateful for the huge picture windows. The view is unbeatable! You are absolutely renting this home for the view and the location. We went on daytrips all over and were amazed by the beauty. We went to the Olympic Animal Farm in Sequim and had a blast. If you are traveling with children, it is a MUST; or if you are adults who wants to laugh hysterically-- go! The owners thought of everything for families travelling with young children. Kids will enjoy the game room and other amenities geared toward the young at heart. Make sure you do ALL of your shopping before heading in. Some VRBOs have spices and oils, etc.; this one did not, so bring EVERYTHING you want. We appreciated that the owners had excellent communication and left us a message about the various speed traps in the small towns in the area. As mentioned in the other reviews, the home is dated and needs a thorough cleaning. The stairs are uneven and precarious. I also hit my leg on the bed post several times and had a huge bruise, but that is my fault -- not theirs. If you are looking for amenities like the Ritz, this rental is not for you, but if you want a great place to bring your kids where they will have endless activates, opportunities to explore the canal, and a chance to create incredible memories this home is for you. Oh, bring binoculars, a hummingbird feeder and food. We had so many little visitors.

The kids gasped when they got inside the house. The unimpressionable kids saw an expressed great delight with the architectures and the game room downstairs! A great beginning!
1. We began to unpack, and in the downstairs bedroom grampa and I bruised ourselves sharply several times on the corners of the bedstead that was concealed under the beadspread/quilt. That hazard should be exposed by tucking the cover in under the mattress.
2. In placing umy cosmetics and of the small garments into the bedside drawers, I almost fell over and almost lost the lamp on top when it became apparent that the stand legs were broken somehow. Needs repair!
3. Grandpa was delighted with the upper deck and went outside to see the view. Coming back inside he tried to shut the sliding door lock, but it would not latch. He and Junior attempted to make it catch for quite a while but eventually gave up. they continued to wrestle with it for a couple of days, off and on, because we were conserned about security. Never could make the mechanism work.
Needs replacement!
4. Since the kids and their Dad were upstairs, being the most nimble, of course, they did not complain about sitting on the floor to put their shoes on. However, I needed a chair in the bedroom to sit on, so I had to rob one from the dining area. High beds require some sitting accomodations for seniors dressing!
5. The outdoor features of the house were so attractive to us in the online presentation, however they are very dangerous! The bottom stairs to the lower deck and to the beach and firepit area -both- are HIGHLY irregular and without warning I nearly fell in both areas. This could be so easily remedied by one or more CARPENTER- constructed firm step in each case and stencil warnings on each if they remain as irregular landings. Really not difficult to do!
6. Without warning midday on our second day, the fire alarms began shrieking, and we were in shock. The men began running around the house everywhere looking for the fire, or perhaps an electrical short. We took it seriously because we have never had our alarms go off. Finally we began to call the two telephone numbers the Ellen provided. The first response we got was, "Yes, this is the handyman's phone number but he is on vacation. I will try to reach him." Called back and "The handyman says he just replaced the batteries. You must be cooking without the exhaust fan turned on." We are getting outraged because we are NOT cooking.

We stayed here and explored the local area with some day trips to Port Townsend, Port Angeles and a few hikes both in the National Park and nearby. We were kind of off season for the water but enjoyed seeing the wildlife, a few whales and the nice little beach area. Our teenagers enjoyed the basement ping pong table and air hockey. The house also features an immense DVD collection, we enjoyed picking both some classics and a couples rarely seen movies. Owner was friendly and responsive in all communications.
