Lovely house, well maintained and with everything we needed.
Lovely house, well maintained and with everything we needed. Great place for a family get-together. We were not a big group so we were able to spread out. The pool table and bar area were good for evenings together during lockdown. Easy parking and short walk to a local shop. Well positioned for river and hill walks and our children enjoyed paddling and swimming in the nearby river. Excellent location for access to the North Pennines and not too far by car for Newcastle, Durham and the coast. A few negatives: the back garden would be dangerous for young children to play in due to the slope and the drop down to the patio, the WiFi coverage was patchy (as was 3G/4G), the main bedroom mattress was not supportive with springs coming through, and we did not think the dishwasher worked too well so we stopped using it. Apart from these points, which could be improved, this is a lovely place for a holiday and we would return. The owner was also very kind, welcoming and very helpful in sending back some items we left behind.

Third visit to The Old School -2004-2009-2019.
Excellent property & facilities. Very well maintained, warm with ample space for a large group .
Local outlets are not plentiful but made use of The Village Chip Bar and The Black Bull for Dinner which has a small choice menu but excellent food.'
Bar, pool table etc meant we spent two evenings out of three, in the property
Good walking in Weardale & Teesdale makes this property a fine base for walkers.
