I never got to see the motel
The night prior to my stay at this motel, the owner? Called me and asked if I was still planning on staying at the motel. I booked and paid for the room a few weeks ago, so obviously that was a yes? The next night around 7pm I get to the motel, there was no receptionist on, but there was a phone on the side of the building with instructions to call the number listed. I did and the man told me i was being upgraded to a cottage?? And to go down the road to their campground. After being told they had no cabins left, the kid at that check in called his owner and I was told to go to the cottage. I get the key from the lockbox and go inside. There are 2 sets of bunk beds in one room and 2 double beds in the loft. I was traveling alone and did not need an entire cottage to myself. I did not have access to the air conditioner, and it was very hot in there. I put the key back in the lockbox and drove away to find another motel (no cell service on the campground). After calling the owner to state that I left and would like a refund, he told me that the cottage should’ve been more than adequate for one person traveling alone and that he gave it to me for the price of the motel room that I had ALREADY PAID FOR AND THAT I WAS NOT STAYING IN instead of the $180 per night rate for an old cottage on a campground.

The check-in clerk was great and the bed sheets and towels were clean, that's all the positive I can say. The bed box springs were directly on the floor (no bed frame), the carpet was stained and incredibly gross to look at let alone consider walking on without shoes, the drain in the shower was a gaping hole and where we suspected the growing population of flies in the bathroom were coming from, and there was no heating/AC or even screens in the window to allow air flow without adding to the flying critter numbers.
