About this house rental
Enjoy your stay at this peaceful, gently sloping lakefront property on quiet Mill Creek Cove on Norris Lake just around the point from Waterside Marina which is located just 7.5 miles northeast on Highway #61 from exit #122 on I-75; only 30 minutes north of Knoxville.
The single-level 60+-year-old cozy, rustic house has a den w/ceiling fan, a stone gas fireplace, plenty of seating, and a day bed. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed with antique furniture and a full shower and tub bathroom next to it. The second bedroom has an antique double bed and looks out onto the lake. You walk through the second bedroom via a short hallway to the third bedroom which also has a double bed, a small window seat with a cot-sized mattress, and, of course, a door to separate it from the 2nd bedroom and bathroom. There is a full bathroom with a step-in shower between these two bedrooms.
In addition to the full-service kitchen and a separate laundry room, there is a bright, large sunroom facing the lake with a huge table for those fantastic meals. Both the den and the sunroom open onto a huge deck, one-third of which is covered and has a porch swing, a second swing, hooks for a baby swing, a gas grill, a ceiling fan, a large table, deck chairs, and rocking chairs. A stone path leads from the bottom of the deck stairs (just 9 steps down) through the wooded backyard (approximately 200 yards in summer) to your own private dock with a swim ladder, large umbrella for shade, and boat or wave-runner tie-offs.
It is quite unique to find a place on Norris that does not require a steep hike to the lake and back to the house or a long, extremely curvy drive to get to it. We love our gentle slope (about 200 yards in the summer) to the lake. Also, it is quick and easy to get to from the interstate. Since TVA raises and lowers the water seasonally, this gentle slope requires that we have an easily movable dock rather than a large one with boat slips. TVA begins lowering the water levels in July and by September the dock may not be floating. It will remain on land until the water rises again in the Spring (usually by mid-April or so). The dock is plenty big enough to accommodate your boats or watercrafts, and for your group to sit on, swim off of, and fish.
Waterside Marina, a very short walk though not visible from the house or dock, has a small restaurant and store and rents covered slips and pontoon boats (they must be reserved early). They also have live music on several summer weekends! Although the Marina does not accommodate public boat launching due to limited parking space, they do allow our guests to launch for free and drive the boat around to our dock during their stay. However, due to the marina's limited parking space, you must keep your vehicle and trailer parked in our driveway. There is enough paved driveway space to park 3 trucks with trailers. There is a Super Walmart and several restaurants between us and the interstate exit only seven easy miles away. Although many of the conveniences are within a few miles, the area is peaceful, wooded, and within a quiet, safe, friendly neighborhood that has been established for over 50 years.
The house is 5 miles from Big Ridge State Park, 7 miles from Norris Dam State Park, and 6 miles from The Museum of Appalachia. Both parks offer wonderful activities including covered picnic areas, volleyball, softball, tennis courts, hiking trails, and a variety of playgrounds. The Chuck Swan Wildlife Management Area, a short boat ride from the house, is an undisturbed 25,000-acre wildlife preserve offering the space for fishing (you must have a license), hiking, horseback riding, mountain bike riding, wildlife observation, birding, and photography. Paddleboards and kayaks can be rented at Norris Dam.
The 'Wood Duck Inn' is extremely accommodating to couples, family gatherings, or small groups.

Charming x10! Everything we expected and more. Impeccably dressed and maintained. Wish our schedules could have provided for a longer stay. Hope to be back…

The house was ready on time and had everything we needed. Perfect location and easy to access the dock. Beds and bedding were extremely comfortable and clean. It is an older house but has a lot of charm and it was just perfect. I would definitely stay at this property again.

It was very cozy and welcoming with great outdoor space.

Only 10 minutes off of I-75 with stores, restaurants, state parks and marina close by. The house is clean and it has private lake access with a private dock. The house is older but clean with plenty of room for visiting. The neighboring homes were closer than expected but the deck and yard provided privacy.

Our family had a great time during our visit. We appreciated the level, easy access to the property from the highway and to the lake. We enjoyed having plenty of space all together on one level and the huge deck and sunroom with beautiful lake views. We brought our jetskis and enjoyed this quiet, wide middle section of the lake. Swimming and paddle boarding off the dock was also fun. Remember to bring camping chairs for the dock. We had an issue with the AC but communication was great about fixing the problem and I didn’t mind not having it, it wasn’t too hot during our visit. We have stayed in much fancier (and more expensive) houses on Norris but we were all very happy with this choice and would stay again.

Nice, clean house with great back porch and dock. Excellent communication with Martie.

The house was very clean and cutely decorated. It has easy access to the lake. There is a little floating dock where you can tie your boat. The dock is very small and not extremely stable but it serves its purpose. The road going to the house is extremely narrow.
4.8
The house was very nice. The road to the house is very narrow and made it hard to maneuver our pontoon boat. Would suggest that if you have a boat to the marina first and it off.
4.8
This is a very charming and cute home. The owner has decorated the home with a lot of personal items that makes for a very cozy environment. The kitchen is very well set up with everything you need to prepare a meal

Second time staying here. Perfect for us. Quiet and quaint location with convenient access to launch our jet skis. Enjoyed the back deck for morning coffee and evening relaxation. Would recommend and stay again.

Everyone had a bed and cozy nook to read and wonderful deck to relax and unwind and view the lake!

This house is well-furnished, with all of the comforts of home. It was very clean, with clear instructions posted. The back deck is spacious and inviting. The walk to the dock is easily navigated. We had perfect weather for reconnecting and doing a little fishing, and appreciated this very relaxing house that easily accommodated 5 old friends.

Really delightful stay. The home was incredibly clean and cozy.My husband, daughter, father in law and 2 dogs had plenty of room to enjoy each other or escape to other areas of the house when needing alone time.We also enjoyed walks to the Waterside Marina with lovely morning and evening views overlooking the lake.Great dinning space and plenty of dishes and cooking ware to support a turkey meal....Thanks to our Host... Keeping this in our thoughts for future visits to Tennessee!

Gorgeous. Perfect for the family that loves outdoor living space

The Wood Duck Inn was great. The layout of the house was very unique and it was surprisingly big.
The folks at Waterside knew of the Wood Duck rental and were very courteous to us.
The dock not floating was a let down but it was listed as a risk in the summary listing.
Finally, the parking is indeed for 3, but if you are hauling a boat over 21’, it’s not realistic to get back to the driveway and park without driving into the neighbors yards.
Would rent again!!

We had a wonderful time! Perfect spot on the lake. We rented a pontoon for a few days and was able to explore the lake, but throughly enjoyed just floating. The back deck was a bonus for us and our pups.
Owners were great to work with. Looking forward to returning.

It’s a perfect location, we had rain and we still had a fun time.

Private Norris gem
We enjoyed the lake house very much. It is well stocked, conveniently located and private dock for our boat. This was our 3rd time to rent and probably won’t be our last. Marty is a great communicator also. Thank you for another fun stay!

Over the river and through the woods.... to grandmother's house is the best description to fit this house. We had our family together for Thanksgiving. it's out of the way from the big city to be nice and quiet and peaceful. yet, it was only 15 minutes away from the city and Walmart and restaurants and groceries. it has a nice set-up of seperated bedrooms , a beautiful view of the lake, and a cozy and comfortable living area. The kitchen ahs everything you need, and it had a wonderful combo sun room/dining room. the owner was a great host providing us a lot of information prior to arriving and helping us figure stuff out upon arrival. the house was clean, smelled fresh and was everything it was advertised to be. if yo u are looking to get away from it all, on a beautiful lake, this is the place to go. on our first day, a bald eagle gave us a fly by. an omen of the good things to follow.

Perfect for a long weekend or more
The property was just as described. We had 6 people and there was plenty of room. The location is awesome, less than 10 to the highway and a two minute walk to the marina. The house was well stocked and ready for us when we arrived. The furnishings were comfortable, even the beds/pillows which isn’t always the case. It was a bonus the have a dishwasher (besides my hands). The deck is awesome and we enjoyed cooking and relaxing on it. I have one wish and one caution. I wish it had a fire pit. The fall evenings were gorgeous and perfect for a little fire. The caution is parking. The driveway is actually big and can handle several cars. The only caution is if you bring your boat, Island drive is a narrow windy drive. It is not real easy to get it back to the house. No worries though, you can park it in the marina storage are which is literally two houses away. It did not inconvenience us at all!
We had a great stay and would go back again!

Labor Day Weekend 2021
Great family getaway, quiet area, brought our jet skis, easy launch at Waterside Marina. Short walk to the marina with good food and rented a pontoon one day from them.

My wife, daughter and son in law, as well as their pet dog enjoyed a very nice time at this property. Very convenient to the boat ramp and marina. The lake is manipulated by the TVA, so their dock has to be moved in or out from time to time depending on the lake level. It was not a problem and we kept our boat at the property. The house was very comfortable and clean. We would definitely return to this place. The lake is excellent and beautiful!!

We had a great stay! 6 of us stayed comfortably and this is a great location on the lake. There are not many rentals in this part of Norris so take advantage! & Beautiful deck where we spent most of our time.
