The house was the right size, most of the places we rent have very little storage. This home was not very clean, floors in kitchen and bathrooms were sticky like something was spilled. There was not a vacuum, mop, and the broom available for use need’s replacing.
The next morning after we arrived there was a squirrel was in house, it ate thru the screen in kitchen.I told office.

To begin with, I never got the instruction to get in, and I have to call once I get the place. Then, as soon as I opened the door, there was a very bad smell like old/wet...Later that I was on the couch, I started to feel itching, and the couch also had a very bad smell. I stayed only one night even though I had reserved for 3 nights. I barely slept as my body was itching and was not sure if the blankets were clean. Thus, I left the next day, and when I was about to leave, I sent an email to the representative just to share my experience....They said they would reimburse the nights I did not stay, and I mentioned that I was not expecting to get 100% refund, but I needed a higher refund as there were another fees associated that I had to pay, but they response was that it was because I informed them after I leave.....I could have asked 100% refund since the very beginning, but I did not, and on top of that I did not know that I should ask them for permission before leaving. Finally, I have to go and see my doctor as my body is still itching...I'm still waiting on them, but if I do not get at least what I request, I will need to reach out to the news and report this situation....I hope nobody experiences this because it is so frustrating

Not the cleanest
This home is in a great location and the check in process was easy. However the bathrooms were not cleaned from the prior guests (soap scum in the tubs, floor dirty). The refrigerator had food spills and the stove needed to be cleaned.

Great Locale
Perfect cabin for a weekend in the mountains. The location of the cabin was situated between Boone, Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. The residence was very quiet and peaceful. The house was spacious and open.

We stayed a week of family holidays. We really enjoyed this snow experience. It was a wonderful day on the mountain. As for the cabin, it is well located, has great accommodation and is comfortable. What bothered me was the dust. The company responsible for cleaning is not doing a good job. leaving something to be desired in the dust. This needs to be cleaned mainly in the fans of the rooms, in the furniture of the room where the TVs are and in the windows. As my son is allergic, dust cleaning is very important to me

Cozy Cabin
Very cozy! Great location! Awesome views! Could have been a little cleaner as far as dust and vacuum. A new iron would be great. Kitchen had everything I needed but a vegetable peeler. Beds were comfy and we really enjoyed the fireplace. We would definitely recommend Sugar Shack!

Nice cabin and great location with 3 ski resorts and 4 sites to go snow tubing with the kids. The reason for the 3 stars is the cabin needs to dusted, drier lint trap was full, and the front of the cabin entrance accumulates water and freezes to a big sheet of ice (one of my kids fell and got hurt). There was nothing in the cabin to breakup the ice.

Sugar Shack
The Sugar Shack was perfect for our stay with friends! Plenty of room to hang out and the location was perfect! We were disappointed when we got there to find signs in the front yard that only 2 cars were allowed (We had 3) and towing was enforced.

Great Quick Getaway!
Had 2 days off from school and combined that with the weekend to spend time in the mountains. It rained 2 days and the foliage had not reached peak, but we still had a great weekend. This cabin was very clean, well furnished, and relaxing. Would gladly stay there again!

peace and quiet
The only thing that can be improved is better lighting. I had a hard time reading a book because the light bulbs were low wattage. There was only one frying pan usable. The others were scratched. It was a pleasant stay and a great location for hiking and sightseeing.

Nice location!
Great little cabin nestled in a wooded area not too far off the main road but far enough for some nice quiet, relaxing memories to be made. We really enjoyed the front porch swing. Had a great time hiking some nearby trails that were not too strenuous for us grandparents. Elk River Falls was our favorite. We hope to come back again!

Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed the cabin. Nice and cozy, and held true to the online description. There were only a few items that I would address. One, unless we overlooked supplies or written instruction, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. With a 6 person rental, I would expect at least an additional roll per bathroom. Secondly, though no visual, we heard critters scurrying around within the walls while laying quietly in the master bedroom. Lastly, there may need to be a warning or a type of method to secure the garbage cans on the back deck. We had an early Sunday morning surprise when we found the garbage cans turned over and drug to the bottom of the steps with trash all over the yard. Apparently raccoons made their evening dinner date on the back porch.

Sugar Shack was great but DON'T rent it through Carolina Cabin Rentals
The Sugar Shack cabin was exactly what our family wanted and enjoyed, but if I rent that unit again it won't be through Carolina Cabin Rentals. They held the deposit over a month when I was told it could take "up to 14 days to get the refund". Lots of excuses and I only got it back after I made many phone calls to multiple folks. One person (Morgan) actually followed through and helped to get it done. Carolina Cabins needs to do better than that.

Great Home
Very comfortable and spacious home in good location. Very clean, nice furniture, easy check in and out. We had a total power outage for a short while and the lessor contact provided me with info on when service would be resolved. Only two issues: highway road noise on rear porch made sitting there less than enjoyable - noise did not carry into home, very quiet there. Nothing can be done about noise. An area for improvement is interior lighting. Because we incurred rain every day, we spent a fair amount of time inside. There were an ample number of lamps but the wattage was inadequate for reading. I had to purchase increased wattage bulbs for reading. Easy fix for owner. Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing visit.

Great cabin
Thoroughly enjoyed Sugar Shack. Had a family vacation in the mountains hiking to see waterfalls and enjoy sunsets from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Sugar Shack was a relaxing and comfortable place to enjoy the evenings and mornings before our outdoor activities.

Super cozy cabin & close to everything
We had a great stay at the Sugar Shack. The cabin was very nice! The cabin and furniture were in great shape and very clean. My kids loved the foosball table too. We visited the Alpine Coaster, a Rock mining place, Tubed down the river, White water rafting and Laurel Falls. We enjoyed that the cabin was close by all the things we wanted to do. The white water rafting was about an hour away, in Tennessee- but the drive was beautiful so we didn't mind it. I would definitely recommend this cabin and would visit again.

The BEST location
The home itself was perfect and spacious. Having stayed at a few places in the area over the year, what we appreciated most was the location. It was is literally 15 min from Banner Elk, Valle Crucius, and Boone. They should mention this specifically on the site, because it was perfect to check out the local area. Great house and see you all again soon, that's for sure!

This is a small house, which was fine for our family of four. However, it could be improved with some more outdoor seating and table.

Feedback
Cabin was very nice and enjoyable. Great location and good price. Pls ensure bathrooms are fully cleaned. We found lots of hair on floors and on shower wall. Also, found hair on bed pillows (shams) which made us think we didn’t have a clean bed. Also found crumbs on couch side table. You all were very responsive cleaning when we notified you. Thank you.

Sugar Shack was sweet!
Like home atmosphere. Had all the amenities needed. Loved it. Quiet and peaceful. Close to everything including the wedding we attended at Grandfather's Vineyard and Winery. Hopefully we will go again.

Very nice cabin
Very nice cabin for anyone looking for two bedrooms. This particular cabin was advertised as having sleeping for 6 people. The third sleeping area is a pull out sofa which really isn't comfortable at all. By the second night we were sleeping on separate sofas (not pulled out) because the pull out bed was just that bad. It was really the only disappointing aspect of our stay.
The thermostats are a bit tricky to work out, and we never really were able to get the heat set just right. There are no actual temperatures on the dial, just a vague "comfort" range.

We LOVED this property! It was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, clean! The only complaint I would have is the "property fee". I don't mind paying a certain price per night but I don't like the concept of the property fee and it's the same whether you stay one night or ten. However; it will not stop us from renting it again. It was just perfect!
