About this house rental
This spacious, comfortable well-appointed two-bedroom, one bath home is the perfect place to land in Portland! A short four-block walk from the University of Portland, the Art House is a convenient launching pad for any neighborhood you’d like to explore in the city – just to start, you are near the St. John’s, Alberta Arts, Mississippi/Boise, Overlook and downtown neighborhoods.
Called the Art House, the 1924 bungalow showcases art and designer furniture by some of the area’s best artists. You can simply enjoy the art, you can purchase it (all artworks are for sale), or you can book an art class during your vacation with the owner, whose onsite studio is in the garage!
There is plenty of space and all the amenities you need to make the Art House your home away from home. The home is fully air-conditioned and heated. The two bedrooms -- one with a king bed and one with a queen bed– are outfitted with luxurious 100 percent cotton linens. The bright full-size bathroom sports an extra-long tub and shower. WiFi is available throughout. The living room has a working fireplace and hosts two sitting areas, including a television with cable and DVD player. The dining room seats six at the handcrafted, curly maple table, and is the perfect place for romantic dinners or family and friend gatherings. The spacious kitchen has everything you need for cooking.
The Art House is a non smoking household - all smoking must be done outdoors.
The Art House sleeps four people in comfort. There is also a comfy foldout cot if you need another single bed. It is perfect for city visits, romantic getaways, visiting relatives (including students at the University of Portland), visiting faculty, family holidays, weekends with friends, or solo travelers and professionals who crave a more homey atmosphere than a hotel can provide.
The Art House is pet friendly – well-behaved dogs and cats are welcome with pre-arrangement and a deposit. Shared with the owner is a sideyard with a quiet patio, and a ready BBQ for grilling.
One off-street parking space is available, and there is plenty of street-side parking in this peaceful and quiet neighborhood. You will sleep soundly!
The onsite owner, Leah, is an artist and art teacher, who lives and works on the property -- her painting studio is housed in the converted detached garage and she lives in a separate apartment in the basement with three cats. She is available if you need help, and is always happy to tour you around the studio, but will otherwise leave you alone to enjoy a peaceful vacation.

The Art House was everything we hoped for- older home charm, immaculately cleaned, and in a perfect location to access the entire city. Leah couldn’t have been more gracious and accommodating. Gorgeous, authentic art gives this home the character you look for in a Portland home.

This was a terrific spot for my wife and I to stay with our pup on a short trip down to Portland. The house has lots of charm, and the proximity of the University of Portland made for a great place to walk around with our dog. Will definitely look to stay there again next time we’re in town.

The property is in a nice location and was well appointed. I personally did not make use of the kitchen much but it seemed well stocked. I wasn’t left wanting for anything during the stay. Home was comfortable for work-cation, the WiFi worked well and A/C was a bonus on warmer days. One last note for taller people, the shower was plenty tall for at least up to 6’6”.

Wonderfully warm, well-appointed 100 year-old home in a beautiful Portland neighborhood. The owners were welcoming and available without being obtrusive in any way. The art throughout the house is amazing and much of it is for sale by the home owner.
The location is perfect - we were visiting family - and all attractions were easy to get to without having to worry about the hustle and bustle of the major thoroughfares.
We would certainly stay here again when we visit Portland.

The property is very central to all activities we had planned. It is in a very quiet neighborhood. The owner who lives on site in the basement was wonderful, and we loved visiting her artist shop in a building on the site. The king bed was excellent. We did not prepare meals there but the coffee was outstanding. We plan to return everytime we visit our son in St. Johns.

Stayed here for graduation. Location was wonderful. Grandparents enjoyed the house very much. Everything was clean and tidy. Loved all the art. Could have used a little more water pressure in the shower, but otherwise everything was perfect. Many thanks, Leah & Rob!

We only live an hour away, but we wanted a quiet weekend away from our “real world”. Enjoyed walking the neighborhood and reading in the beautiful big window space. Peaceful.

The location was ideal. We normally stay in a hotel but were told (correctly) that downtown could be a bit sketchy. We were there for cirque du soliel at the moda centre (excellent). The position seemed ideal for most of what we were doing and the area is nice. House has character and Leah the host was friendly without being pushy. All very smooth. Oh...and she sorted the weather for us.

Perfect spot for visiting campus! We came to town for a dog show up in Ridgefield, and this spot is so perfectly located we could easily get everywhere we wanted to go. We brought out almost high school grad, and he was able to easily walk around and check out the Uni. The interior of the home is absolutely gorgeous. Aside from the occasional group of rowdy college kids walking by, the neighborhood is quiet. Even though the owners live on site, they were so quiet we didn’t even know they were there! We were able to meet the owner before leaving, very friendly artist I’d love to get to know better. Good people, gorgeous spot, hope we can return sometime.

The home was clean, comfortable, lush linens, full kitchen, quiet, and located in a great neighborhood in University Park. The location was excellent for getting to experience the city of Portland and the surrounding areas. Our Host, Leah ensured that we had a great experience and even showed us her art studio. Many of her beautiful paintings are displayed in the house adding to the unique experience of this home. We highly recommend The Art House in Portland.

My wife and I had a great fall stay at Leah's Arthouse. The house is roomy and full of great furniture and art. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking. The location was great for walking and close to shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay at the Arthouse on a return trip to Portland.

The house is very cute . . . old and super creaky, but cute. The homeowners live downstairs while the house is rented, which I'm not a huge fan of, because they were definitely present. Not that we were doing anything inappropriate, but I just hate feeling like we have to literally tiptoe around to be quiet - especially when in such a creaky old house. Also, the house smells strongly of cats and there are several cats around outside. Either the cats come inside the main house when it's not rented or they are living in the basement apartment with the owners, but either way, all I could smell was cats, despite the owners' best efforts (there were charcoal air freshener bags everywhere). I'm super allergic to cats, so again, had I known this, we would not have chosen this property. I spent our stay dosed up on Benadryl, which was unfortunate. One other note - there are no paper towels or napkins in the kitchen, so if you don't want to use bathroom hand towels, remember to bring your own. I hope this review helps other possible renters to prepare themselves better than I did.

From the moment we turned on to the street it was perfect. Great location, quiet, clean it was just like having a second personal home. If you're in Portland this is the place. We had two small dogs, and they loved the place, too!
The most incredible thing was the house had ALL the supplies all you need was the food. Cooking and eating were perfect at this home.

Property owners communicated very well and were available but not seen after our arrival. They gave us a bottle of their favorite wine as a welcome gift. Home had great art on the walls, and we loved the decor. Location was perfect for our needs. Thank you Leah and Rob!
