This house is very charming and thoughtfully decorated. We mostly really loved it, especially the peace and quiet from the city.
So for the case of managing expectations.. the listing is very dated. There are not sweeping views of the river, nor a cute Crosley vintage stove, and the tv is very much in the living room. The listing is confusing about coffee.. there isn't any. The cooking amenities are sub par if you really love and plan to cook all your meals like we did. Very dull knives (bent wonky blades), scratched teflon pans..we made it work.
My point is...on more than one occasion we caught ourselves saying "hmm, the listing made it sound like....."
A lot of the issues are pretty simple, inexpensive upgrades that would make such a huge difference. (Other than the "sweeping river views"). The partial very partial river view was nice.. and the sound of the river was peaceful.
We traveled with our 2yo. It was manageable. But parents be mindful that there are lots of cute fragile vintage things for their curious hands.

Beautiful place! We enjoyed every minute. Lovely scenery, beautiful home, everything you could need in the kitchen. Make sure to snack on some huckleberries and take the river trail to the left! Thank you!

Absolutely adorable cabin in the woods by the river. Very clean. Beds and pillows were very comfortable!! It was the perfect location for starting our trail run around Mt Hood (Timberline Trail) from Top Spur trailhead. It had reliable WiFi for the one working remote one day of our stay. Very cozy!!

The house is charming and being right on the river is wonderful. Though you can only see a bit of the river from the yard there is a path that takes you by the river.

Nice place but the surprise cost total for this property rental will keep me from coming back.

This was a really great place for the price. We enjoyed being so close to the water. There were really large windows and it was pretty cute overall. My complaints are the following: the host (vacasa) didn't allow us to bring our ESA animal, which is an illegal act in the state of Oregon. They also gave us 15 minute notice that our check-in was going to be delayed by 1.5 hours via a voicemail and didn't offer any discounts or a late check-out (etc). And finally, the rug upstairs (which is a pretty dark space) was pretty dirty, so it seems like the cleaning team didn't vacuum upstairs, or did a pretty poor job. Overall, I'd say this was a great property, but definitely some room for improvement on management and customer service.

Clean, secluded and cozy place to stay and a perfect get away.

We stayed here as a little get away from busy mom life. It’s the perfect cabin retreat. Everything about it is charming, eclectic, and cozy. It’s quiet and private even though we had neighbors on both sides. The river is right in the backyard. Everything was clean and in order for us. When we had questions, the management team immediately responded.

We loved this booking and it's proximity to several activities around the Mount Hood area. The house was decorated adorably and it was so peaceful. They also left us a beautiful bouquet on the counter for when we arrived.
Our only suggestions would be to invest in a better master bed mattress. We stayed for a week and were waking up in the middle of the night to move down to the couch. We also found ourselves wishing there was a TV/entertainment downstairs during cooking and socializing (we know this is subjective). There was functioning wifi but we found it a little laggy, too. Overall we would suggest this booking over and over again, as we were able to work around our above suggestions, just fine. Thank you!

We loved the quiet surroundings and the river literally in the backyard. The house is very comfortable with everything we needed!

This cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The pictures showed a pretty good view of the river behind the house, but it is so overgrown you can barely see it. Even so, we enjoyed our stay here.

I loved the way the house was decorated, it felt homey. My daughter called it a fairy house because it seemed magical to her.

My wife and I had a good time hiking in several areas within a few hours drive. The house has an open concept, reminds me of what it may have been like back in the day. There is a nice hiking trail along the stream in the back yard. Me missed the house at first as we were thinking the pictures that we used as a reference were taken from the back of the house. There is a description of some a classic Crosley stove which does not exist. There are no ice trays and when I inquired I was told that it's not listed in the amenities, never thought of ice trays as an amenity. The back door latch is broken and the doors are held closed by a rock inside. It's pretty secluded so we didn't feel in danger but it should be fixed. There are 2 other properties on both sides of this house that are VRBO's but we enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this unique cabin. The location was a bit tricky to find at first (thank goodness for Google maps), but we ended up enjoying it being off the beaten path. My family and I stayed there for ski races up at Skibowl. We thought it was a very easy drive up to Skibowl, Meadows, and Timberline. The thriftway grocery store was very close and had everything we needed. We loved the open floor plan, fireplace, and the huge windows. The kitchen was spacious and the dining table and chairs were so cool! The house seemed to be clean but we were a bit overwhelmed with all the knick knacks and decorations. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this quiet, quirky cabin!

I have to start by saying this place is an amazing home. The detail to construction and furnishing of this home was clearly a labor of love by the Owners. If you want a quit place in the woods with the sound of the river in the background, then this is the place. The pictures depict this home accurately. Now to the disappointing news. And I do not ever post negative reviews, but I do here in hopes that the Owners take a close look at who they have managing their property.
Quit simply, this house is being neglected. It was not clean. It is not in good repair. And any items we found were all easily fixable if the managing company is paying attention. They clearly are not. And the person who cleaned the house prior to my stay clearly does not care about the quality of their work or the homes they are charged to clean. This is a real tragedy once you see what this home has been, and could be if it were being taken care of. A quick list of issues include: A dirty kitchen counter, including used and dirty towels. A dirty fridge that needed to have food wiped out of it before use. A filthy kitchen table with food and butter all over the top and in the cracks of this gorgeous reclaimed wood table. A filthy bathroom with soap and toothpaste spots on the beautifully tiled sink, and urine spots and blood on the toilet seat. The linens and towels did not smell fresh, which seemed to make sense when you consider they tell you to strip the beds and start laundry before leaving the house, but yet they left zero laundry cleaning products. The game table in the corner of the Livingroom is an awesome place to sit and play cards or a board game, but we had to turn over the table and tighten all the legs before it could be used. And the fireplace was great to light and enjoy a warm fire, however the fireplace was not clean prior to check in, so I had to clean before use. This would be no big deal, but there was absolutely no accommodations such as an ash can to safely dispose of the ashes. One of these days someone will throw ashes somewhere they shouldn't and burn this house down. In addition, the screen on the fireplace is badly in need of replacing and makes safely shutting the fireplace doors, one of which is broken, difficult to fully close.
The road leading to the house is a story all it's own. Barely wide enough to navigate in my Tahoe. Full of pot holes. And some of the homes in the area make me question the safety of the area. Hope the Owners see this.

It was easy to find, the email I received was well instructed and we easily got into the house. We made pancakes in the morning and they had all the dishware that we would possibly need. The bathroom was very clean and so were the bedrooms. All-in-all, a great place to stay and a very beautifully decorated house.
3.0 / 5.0
The cabin had beautiful, unique tilework and wonderfully done eclectic furnishings, and sense of rustic and simple with obvious quality. Nice open floor plan and beautiful view of the river. A disappointment was there was no hair dryer as advertised, and I packed accordingly. I paid a $130 cleaning fee, and was still required to strip the sheets, start the laundry. We were told to start the dishwasher, and there was no dishwasher. We did the dishes by hand. We were also expected to empty the garbage and recycling. We were there two nights and they only left enough wood for a fire that lasted a couple hours. It would have been nice to have had a fire the second night as it was even colder outside and they only had a space heater and a wall heater available. The fees charged by VRB were as much as the cost to rent the place, so it was double what I was expecting. I was grateful to have gotten it, though, as it was Christmas Eve and Christmas. Check-out at 10 was hard with all the houskeeping we had to do besides packing. No leasurely breakfast to enjoy before hitting the road. If you know what to expect up front you won't be disappointed.

This place definitely gives you all the cabin vibes. The decor is top notch, very beautiful views. Right off the river which sounds beautiful when you step outside. The bed was comfortable.

This cabin was the perfect getaway for our group of 3 friends. The cabin is tucked in a wooded neighbourhood directly in front of the Sandy river. There is a path along the river great for evening strolls and bird watching. The cabin was cozy and quirky with lots of VHS's, old skis, artsy tiles, creaky floors, and thick blankets which gave it a family friendly vibe and character. The kitchen was sufficient for big meals, the showers were nice and warm, and the WIFI worked well for movie watching. It was a great deal for the price and a lovely retreat. We'd stay again.
My only confusion was the cleaning instructions posted on the door which encouraged us to run a load of laundry (which we did), take out trash (which we did) and load the dishwasher (there is no dishwasher?). Some clarification on cleaning expectations would be nice. I'd also warn folks that the road in is a bit bumpy with deep water-filled potholes but do-able, even in a small car.
We'd definitely come again! Thank you for the lovely stay.

Great weekend getaway for two
A relaxing and rustic cabin in the woods. There is a lot going on in terms of design which made it eclectic and interesting. I would recommend a book of how to’s if it were my place, explaining things like the fireplace and DVD player. A few minor repairs to things like door latches and fireplace screen just so the guest doesn’t feel responsible for any breakages not their fault. All in all a great little place.

It could have been better
The location of the property was fine, however the "neighborhood" was uncomfortable. The house was cold when we got there. The cadet heaters were running, but did not heat the home properly. We went to have a fire in the fireplace, however, there wasn't any wood and no mention was made that you would need to bring wood. There were no blinds or curtains on any of the windows that faced other houses (no privacy). The site mentioned an outdoor fireplace - none exists. The place looked like it had been awhile since it had a good cleaning (cobwebs everywhere). The bed was so uncomfortable and I would no call this a 3 bedroom. There is one bedroom and then a loft. The one bedroom is where the bigger bed should be. And the bigger bed should be replaced. I will say it was at least a roof over our head. The TV situation was no impressive. The DVD player didn't work and there is no TV service. I would not rent this place again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Peaceful
This serene little cabin was a great place to getaway. Even though there are 3 beds it’s probably not best for more than 2-3 people because of the loft style layout but it was such a nice peaceful getaway with a 2 min walk to the sandy river. Great stay.

Nice place, needs upgrades
This is a typical funky Mt Hood area cabin. It has great character and is in a nice quiet spot near the river. The house would really benefit from a bit of a reset with a full deep cleaning, new linens, minor repairs and some new beds. Lots of dust and dirt that would be easy to get to with a full cleaning (get the Cherrios under the couch, old water bottles under the bed, clean shelves, etc.). Looks like this house is kind of being used as storage for lots of little nicknacks and things the owner needs to store (like 40 year old backpacks in the laundry room). Don't get me wrong, the house is sufficient, but with just a little bit of clean up, simplification and some basic upgrades (including fixing the creeky upstairs floor) this would be a stellar little haven on the river.

Lovely house, could use some improvements
We loved the architecture of the house. We thought that there is a lot of room for improvement and we submitted already a review to Vacasa which hopefully will address the issues. Overall, even though the house is very cute , we wouldn’t recommend it to family with more than one or two kids. We have three and there was not comfortable. There is absolutely no privacy as the house is very open and the sleeping arrangements just didn’t work at all. We also did not like all the decorations. Just too much for our taste and it was hard to keep the kids from touching stuff. It just doesn’t make for a relaxing vacation if you have to be so cautious 24/7. We were staying for 2 weeks and we felt like there was not enough shelves/ drawers left empty. We would definitely like it more if it was just two of us.

We loved the serenity of the place. Very quiet.
Close to Mount Hood and many other things to visit. The fireplace is a plus as we had some chilly evening
Something to make the stay even better would be to change the outdoor seats as two are broken.
There is only two wine glasses and one is cracked.
The beds are too soft and the bedroom downstairs has to handle on the door. I almost got stuck in the room.
If you have arthritis in your legs, then it is difficult to take a shower has the bathtub is very high.

On the shabby side
The neighborhood of this home is very unpleasant. Its at the end of a dirt, pot holed rode. Most homes around are very old. Lots of blue tarps around and abandoned old cars and houses that look very run down. The house itself is very old. It is packed full of old trinkets and antiques (which our kids loved) but it seems to be a bit too crowded with stuff. The fire was nice there was only enough wood for one night. We had to go buy some. There was no dishwasher so I felt like I was doing more work on my vacation than I even do at home. The kitchen is minimally stocked. The dinnerware and pots are all very heavy which made the washing process challenging. The couch bed was full of pine needles. They did have a good supply of towels and their bathroom had a unique layout of tile all around. But the door on the bathroom has no lock...the handle twirls around so they attached a hook that you can prop the handle onto to keep it from opening. Overall, it was not a very pleasant stay. Our kids actually loved it. They felt like they were on some "western" adventure with all this old stuff around them. The house felt like an old western house and the scary atmosphere outside gave it the special touch of adventure. :) so if you are looking for a western adventure this might be the place for you. :)

Dreamy Spot
What a sweet spot! Lots of passion and pride on display in this house, loved the way its built. Cozy layout, big kitchen space, and a stunning view of the River right outside the back deck. Those complaining about the view must have visited when the River is low and the surrounds are in big growth mode. Our stay was in January and we watched the River double in size over 4 days. Quiet neighborhood, pretty secluded given the fact that there are many houses here. The house has an open design, so if your party needs privacy, it’s a tough find here. But the open design was perfect for us and our 4 year old. We were very much at home and happy. The place could probably use a little refresh in the kitchen cabinets (they were a bit of a mess and I found dirty, smelly cookware inside), and the bedding is pretty worn out, but nothing we were too bothered by. When we arrived there was dirt and pine needles on one of the beds, and the fireplace/hearth was dirty and full of cobwebs...sunflower seeds and candy under the master bed (spotted during some yoga). This is more a Vacasa issue with cleaning that could be shored up, especially during Covid...things like this could really bother some people, and your clients like to know that you care about these things. We were not put out at all, it was just...noticeable. We loved this spot, though, we were very happy being here.
