About this house rental
We are grateful for the beautiful reviews from our guests regarding their stays at The Perch on Lake Glenville! Many of our guests return each year and have become like family! 'The Perch' reflects the fact that our lodge is perched on the mountain directly on the lake and has beautiful 'perches' (porches) from which to enjoy the breathtaking views! The name of our place also emphasizes the whimsical nature of this special setting. Our home is directly on the lakefront of stunning Lake Glenville (the largest lake in the area), in Trillium’s golf, lake, and mountain resort community in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Cashiers. At an elevation of almost 4,000 feet, we are situated on one of the highest--and coolest--spots in the North Carolina Mountains.
The Perch on Lake Glenville is a very peaceful, inviting home-away-from-home, with soaring cathedral ceilings and post and beam construction. On the upper floor is a newly renovated kitchen and sitting area, great room with gorgeous dining area and gracious living area, a wood-burning stone fireplace and half bath. The master bedroom is also on this level and features a king bed, generous walk in closet, and a large bath with jetted tub and separate shower. A wrap around, covered deck with breathtaking views of Lake Glenville is accessible from the living area and has a new gas grill, table for dining, and plenty of seating.
The lower level of the lodge features a sitting room with a daybed and desk; additional master bedroom with a king bed, private full bath and closet. Two additional bedrooms have two twin beds, closets and full private bath. In this level there is also a TV/living area with a couch and a common area with sink, fridge and microwave. A closet in this area houses the new washer/dryer. The covered deck on this level is accessible from one of the the twin bedrooms and the living area and is equipped with a porch, lots of nice seating and access to the back yard, lake and dock.
We added a lower level deck and lakefront rock patio which is a perfect setting for enjoying all the lake has to offer!
Special features of The Perch include the tranquility of a special Lake Glenville location, immediate access to our backyard dock for boating and lake activities, private parking for up to three vehicles.
Lake Glenville is one of the centerpieces of the Trillium community. This 1500-acre lake is a water sports paradise. Fed by three waterfalls, the lake is a wonderful venue for swimming, skiing and wakeboarding. Canoeing, kayaking and simply cruising supply much enjoyment, especially at dusk when the sun is setting behind the mountains that border the lake. Pontoon boats and canoes are available for rent at The Trillium boat office and Signal Ridge Marina and there are other marinas on the lake that provide various types of boat rentals as well.
Membership in Trillium Links and Lake Club, which allows use of all Trillium amenities, is not included in the rental price, but is available to all renters at a very reasonable cost through the sales office. In addition to an exceptional clubhouse with breathtaking views, these amenities include a spectacularly scenic golf course, a chip and putt course, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a full service state-of-the-art fitness and massage center (including indoor tennis court, basketball, sauna, cardio and strength training equipment), swimming pool, fishing, hiking trails, horseback riding, the aforementioned boating, an attractive lake club with a newly renovated restaurant and bar. Tee times can be arranged starting at 1:00 pm . Many organized activities for both adults and children are also offered every week. Rivers, waterfalls, more lakes, and several national parks, including the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, are nearby. Whitewater rafting and paddling and the fabulous Biltmore Estate are all within an easy drive. Asheville is also home to other attractions such as a zoo and a botanical garden.
A grocery store, farmers' market, and other antique, arts and crafts and retail opportunities are conveniently located in the mountain village of Cashiers just a few minutes from Trillium. The town of Highlands, where art and antique galleries and shops selling local crafts line the main street, is approximately 10 miles away. Along with upscale shopping and restaurants of all kinds, spa services are available there. For those who enjoy music, the Brevard Music Festival which takes place every summer is always a treat. And in the fall, the leafing season provides a colorful backdrop against which to appreciate the tranquil beauty of this extraordinary mountain setting.
We are eager to meet you and hope that you will come experience the bountiful activities, beauty and peacefulness of both Trillium and western North Carolina!
We are limiting are guests to 6 people to preserve the beauty of The Perch!

This was our first time to visit the Cashiers area, and we could not have chosen a more beautiful home to stay in. We wanted to have access to the Trillium restaurants during our stay, and I’m glad we did. We walked to the Landings for several meals during our stay.
The house is just as it looks in the photo, and the property owner is a pleasure to communicate with. No problems at all during our stay, and we would not hesitate to return to The Perch! 5 stars all the way.

Beautiful house among the trees and right on the lake. Perfect location. Clean, very well stocked and upscale furnishings. Walked down to the dock every morning. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property!

The Perch is a spacious lakefront home, well appointed and well located along the shores of Lake Glenville. We enjoyed access to the Trillium Club through our host (extra charge) including golf, boating, tennis and Pickleball. Great family getaway.

Great Mountain Getaway!
We had a lovely time at this beautiful house. We had 4 adults (my husband and I, plus my parents). It was nice to have 2 king bed suites on different levels for more privacy, plus there were lots of places to congregate when we all wanted to be together, but also nooks and crannies to slip away to read a book or work. The lakefront location was perfect. My husband loved fishing on the dock, and we rented a pontoon boat from Signal Ridge Marina. The kitchen was very well-stocked. We went out, but also just enjoyed cooking and staying in and visiting. The owners were great to work with, too, when we had questions.

Absolutely wonderful trip. The weather could not have been more perfect, we hit it during very good fall colors. May be a little bit early but overall was excellent. Lots of things to do in the area with very little out-of-pocket cost. Home is perfect for our family and Melanie it's wonderfully. Sarah Very responsive to any questions/concerns. Would definitely like to come back again

A +
We chose this place because it was on the lake and had access to the Trillium amenities. The house was exceptionally clean, was modern, had excellent furnishings - and had everything we needed and more. The location on Lake Glenville was perfect. We could walk to dinner at the lakefront restaurant and marina which was three doors down , rent a boat or just relax on one of the many porches and enjoy the view. We played golf at the spectacular course and ate at the clubhouse; both were great.
There are excellent restaurants in both Highlands and Cashiers but the view and kitchen were so nice we decided to eat in a few times. It was perfect for our family of four. We have been coming to Highlands/Cashiers for 30 years and this was one of the best experiences we have had. We hope to come back!!!

Enjoyed the Perch!
House is wonderful and everyone had a great time! 5 stars on the house and working rental process with Sarah!! It’s hard to find rentals with good beds. This house has good beds (in my opinion)! Trillium club amenities are nice. Having the Landing lake club 100 yards away makes it easy to walk over for lunch. Love the personal trail by the water to get there. The clubs heated pool and hot tube was nice to visit daily. We brought our boat up too. The dock in back is great and makes the vacation that much more fun! If you plan on bringing your boat up, which I suggest you do, if you have one. Call Signal Ridge Marina and schedule to have your boat launched and trailer stored while there. Makes it very easy and price was $10 a day or $90 for the month to store trailer. Can’t wait to get back the again!!

Heavenly Mountain House on Lake
We had an absolutely heavenly stay at the Perch. Sarah was a delight and her home is spectacular! It could not be better located within the neighborhood, which is the most gorgeous place we've ever seen. Just a couple of doors down from the restaurant and boat rental, we easily got back and forth with 4 teenagers without worry. Everything about the home was comfortable with great linens, beautiful decorating and, of course, the multiple decks with stunning views of Lake Glenville. To say it exceeded our expectations does not even come close to how happy we were with our experience. Don't hesitate to rent this property!

Like a tree house
we had a great time on their house. The best outdoor area to have breakfast and night dinners. It feels you are in a free house with the view of the lake. Peaceful and elegant. I will like to return.

Excellent Summer Getaway on Lake Glenville
I stayed at the Perch with my family (wife and two boys 8 and 11) for 5 days in July/August 2019. The home is incredible. It’s in a perfect location overlooking a beautiful mountain lake. It is extremely clean, well stocked and nicely decorated. Everything was in perfect working order. We joined Trilium Club for the week for around $125 which was well worth it. We used the marina to rent a pontoon boat, dined in the clubhouse, used the pool and played the par 3 garden golf course. All of the experiences were excellent. Outside the home, and to the delight of all, we went white water rafting, gem mining, tried sliding rock and checked out downtown Cashiers and Highlands. Communication with the owner was easy and responsive. We highly recommend the Perch and hope to be back one day!

Beautful cabin with lovely views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "The Perch". The cabin was spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen contained every single tool necessary to make this a home away from home. We enjoyed cool breezes the entire week and with the windows open, the coolness was felt in every room. We started and ended every day on the beautiful porch overlooking the lake.
Pros:
1. Spotless and beautifully decorated
2. Location in Trillium community.
3. Golf course was challenging and the views were amazing on every hole.
4. We stumbled upon an amazing hiking trail just down the street from the cabin.
5. Fairly close to the grocery store and other shopping in Cashiers
6. All levels of hiking located close to the Trillium Community
7. Loved sitting out on the dock at the end of the evening
8. The owners are very attentive. They were are hospitable and made sure we had everything needed to make this a memorable vacation (spot on!)
Cons.
1. Hwy 107 is right across the lake from the cabin. There was significant road noise heard from the porches.
2. The cabin is also located in close proximity to a neighbor. The neighbors entertained the final weekend we were there and it was a bit noisy (only because their porch is right next to "The Perch" porch).
Suggestions
1. You can become a guest of the Trillium community for a fee of $185/week. We decided on the daily fee of $40. We felt it was difficult to figure out what the fee included. I wanted to participate in a tennis round robin but was told it was for members only but I could call the day of to see if they needed players. It was a bit confusing. We paid the fee to play golf (worth every penny).
2. We rented boats at Signal Marina. The rates were significantly less expensive than Trillium and located just across the lake so important if you prefer multi day rentals. Boats couldn't be rented after 5pm which is unfortunate given the evenings were a time we wished we could have been on the lake.
3. Bring lawn chairs. You are allowed to bring the owner's beautiful teak chairs down to the dock but they are fairly heavy and lawn chairs would probably be easier.

Beautiful home and a terrific porch with view!
We enjoyed staying here very much. It's cozy and in a lovely neighborhood with plenty of amenities and a nice drive to Cashiers. We didn't get to play golf here because they had just aerated the course. Also, FYI, you can't get tee-times before 1 pm because of rental status. The pro was nice enough to set us up at another great course that we enjoyed.

The Perch is an absolutely delightful haven! Beautiful inside and outside...so very comfortable with every necessity for a stress free vacation at our finger tips...a gorgeous view of Lake Glenville from the porches and the rock terrace. We so enjoyed communing with nature on a variety of trails in the fabulous Trilium community and quaint local towns of Cashiers and Highlands. Trilium's Memorial Day Celebration was a special treat with great food, dancing to a live band, and a truly remarkable tribute to our veterans.
