Butterfly Cottage is centrally located in the most desirable part of the Dordogne - the Perigord Noir. Located in a hamlet on a no-through-road (no passing traffic) the location is very peaceful and enjoys beautiful views across the village and the surrounding countryside. The Cottage is just minutes from fairytale settings of Chateau de Commarque and Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, historical sites of Font de Gaume, Lascaux Caves, Chateau Castlenaud and medieval villages of Beynac, Les Eyzies and Sarlat-la-Caneda.
The cottage looks out onto a large courtyard with a beautiful Mulberry tree that sits in the centre. The courtyard is your own private area to relax in and enjoy watching the swallows fly in and out of the barn door. Also, your personal 3 burner Weber gas grill is in the courtyard so you can cook up a barbeque. Inside the cottage there are beautiful wooden floors and all the modern conveniences of home. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and bar stools. The living and dining room area is one great room. The living room has 2 comfortable reclining leather chairs and a lovely sofa to relax on. The custom made sofa is a sleeper bed for the possibility of having a third guest. The dining area has a wonderful large bar top table that seats up to 4 persons. The bathroom is down stairs and is fully updated with a new walk-in rain shower. The spacious master bedroom is upstairs with a beautiful wood beam ceiling, wood floors, and a heavenly King size bed (180*200).
This is a charming property full of character, and beautifully furnished. You have the feel of the 17th century, but all the upgrades and comfort of home. There is a gorgeous garden to relax in and read a book, or take a nap in one of the swing chairs located around the garden. We received a warm welcome from Andy our host. We had an excellent time spent in a beautiful area. Our Gite was spotlessly clean, a typical French Gite with charm and surroundings. We would recommend to anyone wanting to unwind and enjoy France at its best 👌

Fantastic surroundings, wonderful pool and gorgeous gardens. A warm welcome awaits at Les Hirondelles and you couldn’t stay in a more picturesque and relaxing place. Everything is complete. You can't think of anything more, everything has been thought of. The house is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The host and hostess are very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the fresh eggs and the bottle of wine that was there on arrival. The jacuzzi and pool are fantastic, not to mention the beautiful surroundings. We wanted to come back on the way back from our road trip but unfortunately everything was already fully booked. A big 5 stars for everything, which is really deserved.

Beautiful Carmensac
We had another wonderful holiday at Les Hirondelles (our third), this time for 3 weeks. We both wished it had been 4 weeks. The location is so central to all of incredible sites contained in the Dordogne. The cottage was perfect and contained everything we might need. The new owners, Andy and Uliana, could not have been better hosts. They are very personable and were always there to respond to any questions or needs that we had. They were the perfect hosts for a perfect holiday location.

Heaven on earth
If you are looking for the perfect place to stay in Dordogne, look no further. Lee Hirondelles is located between Lee Ezyies and Sarlat, a quiet spot, yet close to restaurants and grocery stores. The owners, Andy, Ulliana, and 3 yr. old son live on the premises. They are happy to answer questions and give advice if asked, but will not intrude. There are 2 rentals. The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. We stayed in the cottage which had 1 bedroom and a sleeper sofa. The kitchen was well stocked. The bath has a wonderful walk in rain shower with a separate hand held shower head. Each unit has its own private terrace, grill, and washer and dryer. There is a pool, hot tub, exercise room and sauna. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back someday.

Memorable family holiday
Our 3-generation family spent a week at Les Hirondelles (both the villa and cottage) celebrating several family milestones. This holiday exceeded our already high expectations.
Les Hirondelles was perfectly situated for us. It’s a few minutes’ drive to the towns of Les Eyzies and Ste Cyprien. Some of the most incredible cave art is within a few kilometers. All the A-List attractions of the Dordogne were within the radius of a half-hour drive—every bit of it through beautiful countryside.
The property is gorgeous, especially when the weather is right for outdoor living. We took all our meals on the patio, surrounded by great beauty and accompanied by bird songs. Even with five energetic kids there was plenty of space for everyone who wanted to be exuberant without disturbing those of us seeking an hour of quiet time. The pool is great.
The houses are clean and well-equipped. They accommodated our group comfortably. There are three public areas in the villa, plus a separate kitchen/living room in the cottage. The kitchens had all the equipment and dishes that we needed. We stayed during a record-breaking heat wave, with high temperatures topping out around 40 Celsius. The stone walls kept the interior cool for a couple of days before the heat penetrated. This led to a few uncomfortably warm nights, especially in the upstairs bedrooms. No idea about the comfort level during more seasonable warm spells.
The owner/hosts Andy and Uliana live on the premises. They struck the perfect balance between being available and unobtrusive. Our stay was early in their first season running Les Hirondelles. Despite being new at this endeavor they provided all the information we requested. I’m sure their local knowledge will grow steadily.
Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. We would have been happy spending more time enjoying Les Hirondelles and the beautiful Dordogne region.

A piece of paradise!
For three weeks in October, 2018, my husband and I enjoyed Butterfly Cottage and called it 'home' while we explored the area. The cottage is charming and very comfortable with everything you need to enjoy your stay. A bonus was that we had our own patio to enjoy listening to the doves, drinking wine or coffee and planning each days adventures. Our host and hostess were there for us when we needed advice or help of any kind, but never intruded on our personal space if/when we were wanting to be on our own. In addition to being spacious and comfortable, the cottage is located very close to many of the interesting chateaux, grottos, gardens and delightful villages that dot the countryside. We can hardly wait to return!

Great Location
The cottage is in a perfect location for visiting sites in the Vézère Valley. It is comfortable and clean and well-equipped for cooking. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Fresh eggs from the resident chickens are a bonus.

Most memorable stay!
When we first read all of the reviews on Butterfly Cottage before booking, we thought that they really sounded a little bit "too good to be true". But we have to say they are all completely an accurate description of the property and its wonderful hosts. There really are no negatives!
Linda and George, the cottage hosts, are the most helpful and genuine people you will ever meet. From the moment we booked, Linda was in touch with very useful information to help make the trip perfect. She provided suggestions of what to see and do in the area, helpful hints and excellent directions to the cottage from where we were coming from.
The Dordogne area is absolutely beautiful! There are so many wonderful places to visit and many were only 15 to 20 minutes away by car. Would recommend canoeing on the river. One of our favourites.
The cottage itself is stunning. The pictures on the website are great but it is even better in person. There is absolutely everything that you need in the cottage and lots of personal touches by the hosts that make it special. It makes a very comfortable stay. We had chef Dimitri come to the cottage to cook for us one night. He was amazing and it was truly some of the best french food we had tasted. There is also a larger cottage on the property but both cottages have their own private courtyard and areas and it really feels like you have it all to yourself.
Butterfly Cottage is now a very special and memorable place to us, as it was on the grounds of the property (in the jacuzzi overlooking a pretty field) that we got engaged. A first at Les Hirondelles apparently! Thank you Linda and George for the lovely card and bottle of champagne for us to celebrate with.

Our most relaxing and idylic holiday accomodation ever.
We have stayed in this beautiful cottage now for three years running and every time we stay it is harder to leave it all behind. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean, the bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, which means you actually go on holiday and sleep better than you do at home! The cottage is beautifully decorated and has a lovely warm feeling to it, outside the patio area is amazing, totally private and plenty of comfortable seating areas plus a large gas barbeque for those lovely hot evenings relaxing with a local bottle of wine or two. George and Linda are the most wonderful hosts, nothing is ever too much for them and Linda is on hand to advise you about all the places you can visit within a very short car drive. There is so much to visit that you will never get bored but also lovely walks from the cottage if you don't want to be bothered to use the car. There is the chance of having a chef come and cook a meal for you which again Linda organises if you want to try it. Take it from us you will not regret Dimitri cooking for you it is the best food we have ever tasted. I really can't express how beautiful and relaxing the stay is at the butterfly cottage and our only regret is that we can't stay longer and more often.

Like something out of a story book
We stayed here for our honeymoon & could not have had a more perfect week. From the minute we booked this cottage we kept in contact with Linda who helped us plan & organise our whole week, she introduced us to dimitri who came and cooked for us the most exquisite meal whilst we ate outside on our beautiful private patio watching the birds dance in and out of the mulberry tree. It was like something out of a Disney film! George was kind enough to let us come meet “the girls” & provided us with fresh eggs for our stay. The we enjoyed a few nights in the hot tub with a glass (or two) of local wine overlooking the French countryside & spent every day swimming in the pool. The fact there was no chlorine in the pool was an experience & our hair never felt dry after! The cottage was full f everything we could ever need or even had thought of! All the small things were taken care off and Linda and George were always around to help. Everything felt so personal even though we knew how popular the cottage was! We really felt like we made friends this week & had a taste of our own little paradise before heading back to reality! We will definitely be back! -faye & Lawrence hearn

Sheer Perfection...
My husband and I have lived and traveled throughout various countries in Europe, and of all the places we have stayed in, the Butterfly Cottage is the most divine, it is sheer perfection!
The Cottage is an elegantly rustic 17th century building which is furnished with impeccable taste. It is spacious and the decorations exquisite, the gardens and property are sumptuous. The kitchen is extremely well-appointed with every conceivable gadget, every imaginable amenity is provided from fine crystal champagne glasses to picnic baskets. Incredible attention to detail from French provincial table linens, lush terry cloth bathrobes, excellent lighting to read, and a king size bed with an amazingly comfortable mattress for a relaxing night of sleep.
Our host and hostess, are generous, gracious people. We were greeted with milk, orange juice, coffee, teas, spices, wine and daily, fresh eggs from 'the girls'. They have the rare combination of gracious hospitality without ever being intrusive. They are available, if needed, and then seem invisible so one has as much privacy as desired. They are very perceptive and 'read' their guests well. Both are passionate about their property, the area and ensuring their guests' happiness. They also offered recommendations for local attractions, goose farms, restaurants, gardens, villages and hikes that were not in any of our tour guides.
The Dordogne region is heaven and the views from the meticulously clean hot tub and heated swimming pool are unparalleled. One sees lush, rolling hills, grazing cattle, wisteria covered pergolas and barnyards filled with lilacs and Swallows. The property is extremely well kept.
Not only would I highly recommend this to everyone, I would highlight this is a property not to be missed. Pure heaven!!

Absolutely Magnifique !!!
We spent an absolutely perfect week at the Butterfly Cottage. Plenty of space, complete kitchen with everything you need, amazingly comfortable bed, beautiful relaxing sitting room, a gorgeous patio area to relax and enjoy the birds during an afternoon drink, and most of all stylish charm. We have been to many a Gites in France and the Butterfly Cottage tops our list. Located in one of the most charming regions of France. Everything you would want to see or do are within minutes drive from the cottage. We will be returning again, and hopefully for a longer stay.

5 Star Quality, Comfort and Relaxation!
We stayed at the Butterfly Cottage for a wonderfully memorable week . When we arrived we were greeted by our hosts Linda and George who were extremely welcoming and showed us around the cottage. We were overwhelmed by the quality of the cottage, a lovely enclosed courtyard centered by a beautiful Mulberry tree greeted us on our way into the very clean, and fully equipped kitchen. Through to the lounge and dining area with extremely comfortable furniture (which was very welcoming after days of hiking the Dordogne). Huge TV and freesat + DVD, stereo etc..... Upstairs a beautifully decorated bedroom with a "massive" king size bed ( so comfortable you don't want to get out of it in the morning). The cottage was also extremely clean, and spotless.
Our days were filled with hiking the most beautiful villages of the Dordogne, such a Beynac, La Roque Gageac, Domme, and our favorite St.Leon sur Vezere, then returning in the afternoon to soak up the sun and relax in the heated pool or soothing Jacuzzi. George and Linda do a marvelous job of keeping up the garden, where we sat in the evenings enjoying a relaxing glass or two of wine. Truly a place we recommend for its quality, comfort, and relaxation - can't wait to return.

ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!
This is a most delightful place to be in the Dordogne - and the Butterfly Cottage is the perfect place for 2 people. It has a lovely courtyard to sit and relax, gardens and views across open countryside. The whole property is so well appointed with everything you need - and if you're short of something then Linda and George will supply it for you. The furnishings and decor are very tasteful and restful and it feels like a home away from home as soon as you step inside. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to prepare your meals. The bedroom has the most comfortable king size bed you will probably find in all of France. The swimming pool area is great and the extent of the property is such that there is a wonderful sense of space.
HIghly recommended for a peaceful and relaxing stay - and there are plenty of places to visit in the area. The location of the Butterfly Cottage gave us the opportunity to explore a wide area and we were able to discover many beautiful places that suited our taste. We had great weather and having a base to come home to was ideal. We certainly would recommend anyone to stay here its absolutely delightful.

The Butterfly Cottage Is Amazing!!!
My husband and I stayed for a week this past October and it was a most memorable and delightful experience. The Butterfly cottage is amazing and made even better with such great hosts George and Linda. As noted in the other reviews, the cottage is very spacious for a couple, spotlessly clean, and very well furnished, with a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious and comfortable sitting/dining area, a very spacious bathroom with a great shower, and a large bedroom with a very comfortable king bed and lots of closet/storage space. Everything about the cottage was very comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. The grounds are large and private, with lovely gardens throughout, a great heated chlorine free pool, a hot tub we used every night, and beautiful chickens that provide fresh eggs. Although the area is very quiet and peaceful it is not too remote, there are nearby markets and dozens of interesting sights nearby.
What made our stay truly exceptional was the thoughtfulness and graciousness of our hosts. Linda and George are both very committed to make sure you have a wonderful time, both at the cottage and on your travels around the area. Linda took the time to give great and easy directions, sparing us from ever getting lost. We ended up having a much more relaxing time and being able to enjoy more sights very close to the cottage, while still making it home in time to enjoy cooking dinner with ingredients from the local markets. One night we had a wonderful dinner prepared by Chef Dimitri, who I would highly recommend as part of your stay. Both before and during our stay Linda and George were immediately accessible and responsive but not at all intrusive.
We have been to France many times but had never been to the Dordogne before, and really enjoyed both the sights and its natural beauty. I cannot recommend the Butterfly Cottage highly enough as a base from which to explore the Dordogne (or to just relax). As you can see from their reviews, Linda and George haven’t disappointed anyone yet, and they made our stay an absolute delight.

Amazingly wonderful!!
Two years ago we stayed at Les Hirondelles and enjoyed it so much that we knew we had to return which we did this September. The Butterfly Cottage is simply magical and has everything you could possibly want or need. Before entering the cottage there is a beautiful stone courtyard and in its center a magnificent mulberry tree that welcomes butterflies, swallows and doves. It also welcomed us with comfortable lounges and chairs. Many an afternoon, after sightseeing, we spent a relaxing time with a glass of wine and a good book.
The cottage itself is equally astounding. Entering the cottage there is a wonderful sunny kitchen equipped with anything you might possibly need for a two week stay. The table beside the window was our favourite place for breakfast and lunches. The living room and dining room had two sets of large French doors that opened onto the patio. Upstairs is a lovely bedroom with loads of storage space and a very comfortable king-size bed.
The Butterfly Cottage was absolutely wonderful, but made even more so by Linda and George who were so helpful in providing anything we might need and advising on the best, and there are many, sights to see - villages, markets, gardens, castles and chateaux. They really made us feel at home. They also organized the fabulous Dimitri to cook for us at the cottage while we watched him prepare and then serve us another unforgettable meal. Everyone should treat themselves tp at least one of Dimitri's incomparable dinners.

Beautiful and Very Special!
From the moment we arrived we knew this place was special. Linda and George were there to greet us and show us the most beautiful Butterfly Cottage. It has everything you could want and more, Linda has made sure there is nothing you could want for or need to have the perfect vacation. The bedroom is absolutely heavenly, with a giant king size bed, beautiful sheets, blankets, towels and bathrobes. The living room and dining area have all the amenities you could want, TV, dvd player, stereo, Wi-Fi, comfortable and new furniture, decorated with taste and love. The kitchen is equipped with all the gidgets and gadgets you need, to prepare wonderful French meals. Speaking of meals, Dimitri the French chef was one of the best highlights of any of our vacations. What a delicious meal and truly amazing experience. The property & garden, the pool & the Jacuzzi, and of course Linda and George with their wealth of information on the area, we could go on and on about how much we loved this place. The Dordogne is truly a beautiful and very special place to visit, made so much better by staying at the Butterfly Cottage.

Truly Amazing !
Located in an unspoilt village in the Dordogne, with gorgeous panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The Butterfly cottage is equipped with everything you could ever need. The owners came and greeted us and were continuously checking whether there was anything more they could do for us when we ran into them. If nothing else, stay in the cottage for the bed alone. It is one of the best nights sleep my husband and I have ever had vacationing! The location is perfect if you want a quiet, peaceful base from which to explore the rest of the Dordogne. We visited local villages and attractions, as well as going on local walks and hikes. We would also recommend Dimitri, the most amazing French Chef. The meal he prepared for us was absolutely superb, one of the great highlights of our trip. We can not say enough great things about the Butterfly Cottage that have not already been said by the many other great reviews! Truly amazing what Linda and George have created.

Highly Recommend A Stay !!!
We felt totally at home at the Butterfly Cottage. Butterfly Cottage has a lot of character and all the amenities and comforts of home. You can truly tell that this beautiful cottage is a labor of love.
We appreciated all the helpful tips on sight-seeing, that we received from our hosts Linda and George. Many visits were rich with pedagogy, a we literally travelled back in time with these stunning century-old villages, fortified castles, the sanctuary of Rocamadour to the Font de Gaume next door…
We also had the pleasure of having Dimitri cook for us (twice), who is a one-man-information center on French cuisines.
We felt privileged to have stayed here, by the thoughtfulness and attention given to us by our hosts. We sincerely hope that we will visit again soon and highly recommend a stay in the Butterfly Cottage!

One of the most amazing places to stay.
This is our second stay at the wonderful Butterfly Cottage and again we didn't want to leave! On arrival there is a warm welcome from Linda and George the amazing hosts. Well the facilities, what can I say, we have been to some wonderful places but the cleanliness and comforts in this cottage are second to none. As soon as you walk through the door you feel relaxed and at home.
The outside space gives you everything you could wish for ... peace, relaxation and privacy but the wonderful thing is that Linda is always there if you ever need any help or advice on were to go for days out. There are so many lovely places to visit within a vey close proximity.
I would thoroughly recommend staying at this beautiful cottage and we love it so much we have booked again for two weeks next year. Thankyou Linda, George and Roosevelt for being such fantastic hosts

The best part of our stay at the Butterfly Cottage was our interaction with the people. Linda was an amazing native English-speaking concierge/hostess. She contacted us 6 months ahead of our stay to give us information about how to purchase Font de Gaume tickets that we needed to purchase in early January. We would not have had that fascinating experience without her "insider" help. During our stay, she accurately gauged our interests and gave us tips of when and how to go to places in the Dordogne area that provided us with a memorable week of varied and remarkable experiences.
On our morning of departure, we enjoyed an intriguing conversation with personable George about French culture and their new life in France.
Dimitri, the French chef, prepared an exquisite dinner for us. We thoroughly enjoyed watching him cook and felt like royalty when he served us our private, romantic dinner.
We will long remember the kindness of our hosts in the Dordogne.

My wife and I have stayed in gites and cottages many times, but both agreed that our stay at Butterfly cottage was the best of all!
Perigord is a wonderful place to visit, of course, and the cottage was ideally placed to enjoy it without having to drive too far. Linda and George were marvellous hosts, and nothing was too much trouble....when I unpacked my case after the holiday, it was full of Linda's hand written direction sheets! Thank you both for making such a huge effort to assure we enjoyed our stay! Thanks too to Dimitri for cooking us a wonderful meal in the cottage one evening...it was memorable!

Butterfly Cottage is everything you could wish for.
The owners Linda and George are so helpful but not intrusive. The Cottage itself is a converted barn to a very high standard and is the most well equipped of anywhere we had stayed.
We were first in this season and enjoyed the pool and hot tub. A most relaxing area with great views.
Linda's tour includes the very well equipped jym but that was not required on our visit!
We hope to return soon.

Les Hirondelles’ hosts, George and Linda, have set a very high bar for the French “gite” experience! In addition to an impeccably kept property, coupled with every conceivable amenity, they are the most gracious and hospitable people my husband and I have encountered in our many years of travel. Not one’s to make repeat trips very often, staying at Les Hirondelles has changed our minds – we will return!

Loved this VERY ROMANTIC cottage, our hosts and the beautiful Dordogne area. The property was spotless, with wonderful touches like fresh eggs (from their hens) milk and wine waiting in the fridge, even make-up remover wipes in the bathroom to make us feel welcome and at home. The cottage is larger than it appears in the photos and is extremely comfortable, with a bed I would like to buy for my own home. The unit is connected to the owner's home, which is a converted barn, but very private with it's own courtyard and BBQ grill. There is another 5 bedroom home on the property for a larger group, but we never saw the family staying there---each unit is very private.
The very best thing about this cottage was our wonderful hosts, Linda and George, who never intruded but were always available with suggestions and to answer questions. We took all their recommendations and had the richest tourist experience of our lives--castles galore, wonderful caves to explore, canoeing on the Dordogne and, best of all, a cooking lesson from Demetri, a private chef they recommended. We had cod, fois gras, lamb, duck breast and wonderful chocolate desserts and he showed us how to prepare each course--at a cost much lest than going to a comparable restaurant would have been.
I'm not exaggerating to say that our week in the Butterfly cottage was heaven on earth.
One word of caution--the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs, which would only be a problem if one has mobility issues and bladder issues at the same time in the middle of the night.

We thoroughly enjoyed our autumn week at the Butterfly Cottage. It is a cozy and comfortable house that is in a lovely rural setting, yet very close to villages, restaurants and historic sights. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful, and they make you feel as welcome as invited guests. The option of having Dimitri a private chef who will prepare meals for you in the cottage is an added bonus, that will enhance your visit beyond belief. We highly recommend a stay here. It was just out of the world, and also one of the most "luxurious stay" ever!
Lovely place. We wanted to relax during this vacation and did that in style. Linda recommended a French chef, Dmitri, who would cook for us and he was wonderful and very friendly. We had him cook for us three nights!! :). And also my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the food, the swimming pool and the chickens in the barn! Overall, Great place, Great people, Great ambience, Great cook! Will definitely come back and recommend them to everyone of my friends and family! Already recommended ;)

This cottage is perfect, spotlessly clean and very, very comfortable. The attention to detail on Linda and George's part is exceptional; from towelling robes and pool towels, a kitchen filled with everything you might need to a well stocked supply of DVD's, not to mention the divine bed!!! The view from the heated pool is spectacular and the surrounding garden with pond, hammock and hens provide this amazing rural setting. Linda and George cannot do enough for you to make your holiday outstanding with ideas for exploring the local area close-by and further a-field. There's something for everyone in the locality especially if you like canoeing, walking, cycling, caves or just relaxing! Entertainment from the resident swallows nesting in the barn and a constant supply of freshly laid eggs. What more would you want! There are many good restaurants, markets and shops nearby too.This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint, so much so we have already booked for next year!!! I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

From the second I heard back from Linda about my inquiry I knew I had found a home.
Not only are Linda, George and Roosevelt (the official greeter and gorgeous pet dog) like the family you wish you had, but the property is absolutely gorgeous too.
If you close your eyes and imagine where you would want to stay in the castle area of the Dordogne this would be it.
Linda is so helpful with on point suggestions on where to spend your time wisely (which also includes sitting at the pool on the grounds of the farm).
From lesser known castles, to fabulous and inexpensive restaruants, the recommendations are perfect. I even got my best haircut ever from the neighbor's daughter at
the local salon in St. Cyprien. If all this isn't enough, Dimitri is the real secret weapon. A private chef that comes to your door with a charming smile and custom order dream

George and Linda are superbly warm hosts always ready to dispense practical advice with a good dose of humour. Linda's easy laughs are infectious. George, never too far away, often drops what he is doing and joins in the fun.
We felt at home. Although we have no knowledge of Butterfly Cottage's prior ruinous state, it must have been resurrected by a labor of love from the scattered fragments of an abbey in the 17th century. Each slab of the gold-yellow stones seems to vie for our attention, eager to recount some piece of history from the past.
We appreciate their very many helpful tips on sight-seeing. Numerous days trips are possible from the cottage's vantage point. They were invariably rich with pedagogy, literally voyages back in time to stunning century old villages, fortified chateaux, churches, the sanctuary at Rocamadour to the Font de Gaume caves just next door, once home to the Cro-magnon.
We are also thankful for their wise suggestion of having the local chef Dimitri cook for us (twice), a one-man information-clearing-house on French cuisine. He spent a good part of a sunday from overseeing our late morning excursion to the local open-air market in St. Cyprien, to the lunch that we finally savoured together for several hours. He repeated his feat the evening before we left.
We heartily recommend the cottage to anyone with a bucolic vein, eager to shed the wearies of the daily city grind to don the mantle of a curiosity seeker and just follow the narrow alleys paved with cobble stones. For us, time just seemed to pass too fast...wished it had lasted just a little longer.
