very nice place, a little abandoned, needs more cleaning in the back, and the house is very hot, very difficult to sleep at night, rooms and bathrooms need more privacy

There isn't much to add to the other reviews - the place was spotless and is accurately described on the VRBO website. We spent a week here and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I knew the place would be larger than what the two of us needed but I liked the idea of having a stream so close by. The stream was incredibly beautiful! I wish there were an easier way to get down to the stream, like a small path but maybe a lack of one is to protect the water and the plant life, not sure. The bedrooms were a good size and having a second bathroom was perfect. Overall, this was the perfect spot to relax and go hiking in Mt. Lassen.

Great location on a creek with a nice porch to enjoy the outside.

We had a truly wonderful time and it was perfect for a short escape from regular life. The little waterfall was so calming. We spent hours at the firepit next to the stream. The owner had a lot of lovely suggestions for places to go and made us want to come back again for a longer stay.

Charming place perfect for a family reunion. The big plus is the river, the fire pit and the overall atmosphere. Also great location to explore lassen and the surroundings

Being right next to the river, and the sound of the waterfall was very soothing! Kitchen appointed very well. Couldnt find the beaters that went the hand mixer but we still made a cake. We bought some dice at a local store as all the games are not really full sets except the backgammon board and the mini chinese checkers! Wonderful place, dog friendly and the owner, Michael was very sweet, brought us a baby gate to keep the dogs up on the deck! He even had the fire pre-built for us.. overall, had a great birthday weekend! Would definitely stay again if it was available!!

Neat, clean, worn out furniture. Traffic noise.

Michael, the owner, was incredibly helpful and hands-on property owner who personally greeted us upon arrival and took the time to guide us through the property's amenities, from the cozy fireplace and ample firewood to ensuring we had a smooth internet connection and well-stocked kitchen supplies.
His wealth of local knowledge enriched our stay, with recommendations for various destinations that left us wishing we had more time to explore. The property itself is nestled in a stunning forest, accompanied by the soothing sounds of a nearby lively creek that provided the best night's sleep I've had in ages. With its spacious layout, including four separate sleeping rooms, it could easily accommodate a large group comfortably.
Its prime location just a short drive from Lassen National Park and Michael's additional suggestions for ten other remarkable spots in the area make it an ideal base for exploration. If you're seeking a getaway off the grid, I highly recommend Michael's place; just be prepared for limited cell service, as this secluded retreat offers a true escape from the digital world.

We were looking for a quiet getaway for the weekend and this was exactly what we had hoped for and more.
There was a warm and welcoming feeling as you walked through the front door. We felt instantly drawn to the deck by the soothing sound of the water which overlooks the beautiful waterfall and creek. As the day went by, the sunlight filtered through the trees and highlighted the waterfall and beautiful lush greenery and ferns along the creekside. We enjoyed the peaceful time on the deck. The inside of the house was very comfortable, clean and uncluttered. We felt very much at home there. The neighborhood is very quiet and in a peaceful location. The host was very thoughtful and offered excellent suggestions for places to visit in the surrounding area. This was a beautiful and serene home and property. We look forward to returning again.

Our family really enjoyed this fantastic property! Drinking coffee in the mornings on the deck overlooking the creek. Loved having all amenities yet appreciating an old cabin built over 75 years ago. Fishing was great at the local lakes. Can't wait till next year and making this cabin a yearly family getaway!

By “funky” I mean that you have to walk through a queen bedroom with one bath to reach a second king bedroom with the only other bathroom in the house.
To reach the king bedroom upstairs you have to walk through a queen loft. There are no bathrooms upstairs. This arrangement works for two couples only if one is willing to sleep in the downstairs king, and the other in the upstairs king. Of course, the couple upstairs has to go downstairs to use the bathroom in the first bedroom. The arrangement would also work nicely for a family with children.
There are spider webs in the back corner of the upstairs king bedroom. Both couples had large bugs to deal with. A deep cleaning and filling the gaps in the various add-on spaces would help. The towels could use a good bleaching.
The front bathroom sink, wall tiles, and tub must date back to the 1950’s. I loved it! However, the water pressure was lower than I would have liked.
There were no: waste paper baskets upstairs; Kleenex; bath soap; condiments; cell service.
The internet was very slow. It was almost impossible to watch anything streaming on the TV.
The owner lives nearby and made himself available if we needed anything (which we didn't). He gave us a very useful list of sights to see in the surrounding area. The property is about 30 minutes from the park entrance. It's rather close to the highway, so there is periodic road noise when the windows are open (necessary during summer nights).
There are virtually no restaurants open anywhere nearby for dinner after 6:00 p.m. I strongly advised a stop in Redding to pick up enough food for breakfasts and those afternoons and evenings you are not on the road. We found Lilly’s in Mt. Shasta and Julio’s Grill in Burney (the town near Burney falls, also a must see).
The foregoing notwithstanding, this house was comfortable and reasonably well located. The highlight of the property is a comfortable back deck overlooking a beautiful picturesque creek and forest. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils.
Park on the right side of the garage to avoid pine sap dripping on your car. Fortunately, window cleaner removes it pretty easily.

This place is wonderful. It has a beautiful creek in the back garden. It is close to lots of amazing locations, burney waterfalls, the subway cave and mount lassen. Hat Creek and plenty of lakes for anyone trout fishing.

My husband and I had stayed here about 10 years ago with my Mom. When looking for a place near Mt. Lassen to stay for a few days with our son and his girlfriend, I was thrilled to see that this house was still on VRBO. I remembered what a cute place it was and how nice Michael was to deal with. The only issue is the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs are connected and you have to go through one to get to the other. It wasn't a problem for us as our adult kids slept upstairs, so we all had our privacy.
We, once again, had a wonderful stay at this little gem on the creek. Hope to come visit again, absolutely love this place!!
Thanks, Michael for sharing :) Joyce Haas and family

The location was perfect for just relaxing - creek behind house is amazing ! Host Michael was great! The house is older & not perfect but it’s is a rental so ya gotta expect a little wear & tear. The kitchen is well stocked with all the basics you need for cooking. Silly as it maybe to others I was impressed that all of the dishes, silverware , pots & pans were MATCHING SETS not the usual random odds & ends junk that the owner scrounged up. The house was perfect for a quiet getaway. We hope to visit again !!

Great River View House near Lassen
This was an outstanding location for our family to stay while visiting Lassen National Park. The river and small waterfall in the backyard was so fun and relaxing. The Kitchen was well stocked. The figuration of the bedrooms is a little funky. You have to go through one of the bedrooms to get to the downstairs bathroom. 2 of the 4 bedrooms are not that private (have to walk through). It was completely fine for us (but may not work for every group). The owner is five stars and went out of his way to help provide advice for the surrounding area. Enthusiastically recommend this owner and property!!

Wonderful Creekside cabin
Loved sleeping with the creek noise in the background! Great beds and wonderful location. Pet friendly, but no fences and lots of cats next door, so beware. Great time, will definitely come back.

Rustic cottage, tree lined lot
Had a great time. Cottage was well equipt and comfortable. Love the wood burning stove, deck overlooking the river out back, the Sequoias on the property were unexpected and awesome. Cottage has carpet in some rooms, wood floors in others... we personally don't care for carpet... weird bedroom layout... you have to go through one bedroom to get to the master... fine if you have kids, but would be awkward with another couple... but it was just the 2 of us, and we enjoyed the cottage and Lassen and would stay there again.

Relaxing stay
Easy check in and check out. We enjoyed the the view, especially the creek.

The location is amazing. The back deck looks right over a running river. This is what attracted us to this property. The sound of the water is soothing, it is private and peaceful. We saw nobody else our entire stay. The house has everything you could need. I would definitely stay here again.

Cozy
Wife and I had a very good experience. Beautiful view of the creek and it was a nice setup. Unfortunately the dish washer didn't work (we were told before hand so it wasn't a surprise) but we didn't have that many dishes so we just hand washed them. We arrived with a fire already made for us which was great! Only complaint I had was some better curtains for the living room (especially on the north wall) and kitchen (which had none). Love the area, especially being close to Hat Creek.

The property was cozy and clean. Great for a family. The location is ~20 mins from Lassen Volcanic National Park northern Entrance and 2 miles to the nearest grocery store, pizza place, and gas station. The creek behind the cabin had a soothing sound and great entertainment for the 7 year old.

Very nice older cottage home. Has the feel of natural beauty in the yard. I bet this house has an interesting history. Place is clean and the beds were very comfortable. Nice size kitchen and table for game time. Love the extra throw blankets for snuggling up to a movie by the fire. Creek was far my favorite part. Sitting outside on the deck listing to the creek flow by. I could image how nice that creek would be in the summer to cool off. Especially fun for kids. Lots of wonderful outdoor waterfalls close by to see. Host was vert nice and helpful.

We really enjoyed spending Christmas in this cabin. Everything was perfect for us and we got the beautiful White Christmas we had hoped for. Highly recommend this home!

Wonderful stay
The place was beautiful, warm, and well-lit when we arrived. It had snowed during the freakish cold snap, and all was a winter wonderland. Make sure you bring warm clothes for the time before you get the wood stove cranking. We had a wonderful stay there with my elderly mom and two dogs. I can’t wait to come back in the summer.
