Welcome to Casa del oso perezoso (translated as 'the house of the bear sloth'). Bear Sloths are a common sight in the Manuel Antonio area and in particular in the National Park located there. They seem to take life easy and are very laid back; something we love about the lifestyle and the people of Costa Rica and something that we hope you are able to achieve while here in Costa Rica.
Oso perezoso is very private and secure, sitting behind a beautifully handcrafted large wooden gate created by a local woodworker from native wood, and a privacy wall. Located on a 2 acre lot within Finca Se Ve Bien (Looking Good Farm), the Finca comprises 100 hectares with approximately 22 residences located within the Finca. Most of the remaining land area has been left as jungle and forest. Oso perezoso sits atop a hill above the valley and offers spectacular unobstructed views of the mountains to the north and east and the valley below and the Pacific ocean off to the west. Oso perezoso faces westerly allowing you to truly enjoy the beautiful sunsets each night from the outdoor patio area.
Our Casa is just over 2000 square feet of indoor living; all of this on one level. AND our Casa is now handicap accessible and disability friendly - a rarity in the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area!
There are 3 generously sized, fully furnished bedrooms in 2 separated bedroom wings to provide privacy for our guests. The master suite is located in one wing of the house with the other two bedrooms in the opposite wing. Joining the two wings is a large open concept common area that contains the comfortably furnished living room complete with a new L Shaped leather sofa, the very spacious dining room, a sitting area and a newly renovated and fully equipped kitchen with spectacular quartz countertops; fit for a gourmet cook. A bar height counter made from a large single piece of native wood with bar stools, all handcrafted by a local woodworker, overlooks the kitchen area enabling you and your guests to socialize while the meal is being prepared. All rooms have spectacular views of the mountains, the valley or the ocean as well as the incredible outdoor living area and infinity pool.
Each bedroom and the common living area have their own individually controlled air conditioner, however you will find no need for them during the day when the large patio doors of the living area and the bedrooms are opened, letting the late morning and afternoon breezes flow through the house. Each room in our Casa has ceiling fans to assist in air movement.
We are certain you will find the interior spacious and very comfortable.
The outdoor leisure area is spectacular. Anchored by a one of a kind infinity edge pool, there is approximately 2000 square feet of additional space with a covered upper patio area, complete with ceiling fans throughout, that shades you from the sun or rain.
The lower pool level is accessed by a wide and gently declining staircase with a handrail. The entire luxurious lower patio and pool area has limestone patio stones (that never gets hot in the brilliant and powerful sun of Costa Rica). The outdoor area is fully equipped with a large sun sail for shade, chaises and chairs for your enjoyment as well as a newly constructed covered outdoor kitchen with granite countertop and peninsula with chairs to enjoy conversations while preparing meals on the BBQ or enjoying your favourite beverage. The new outdoor kitchen is lighted and comes complete with a beverage fridge and running water and an overhead fan.
The pool is constructed with beautiful, non slip, quartz tiling with gentle and wide steps to your submersed sitting bench and a one meter deep pool area that is great to lounge in or is great for the kids. The lap area of the pool is a consistent 8 feet deep and is great to swim in or do laps. You will enjoy a cooling shower after a day out and about under the stainless steel outdoor shower adjacent to the pool before you take a plunge in the pool.
Lastly, there is also a rear covered patio with ceiling fan, to enjoy quiet times.
We have installed permanent cement ramps and we have a few portable ramps for wheelchairs and disabled persons that allows easy access to and from the Casa and the outdoor areas including those areas by the pool. We believe the access that these ramps provide truly makes our Casa a rare find in Costa Rica.
There is also a private and separate exterior patio area that is a wonderful location for your warm up or cool down stretches with a great view of the mountains off in the distance. The fitness area includes a chin up bar system, elliptical machine, dumbbells, exercise bands, yoga mats and skip rope for your enjoyment.

Absolutely magnificent property! Even better than the beautiful photos. The most well stocked property we’ve ever rented. The outdoor living space and pool are as good as any 5-star resort. It’s just fantastic in every way possible. Scott was an incredibly helpful and responsive host, and caretaker, Danny, is so helpful. He arranged outings for us and also scheduled in-home chefs for an evening that prepared a delicious local meal. It was the trip of a lifetime for our family and this beautiful home was a huge part of that. Pura Vida!!

Our family all agreed, the best experience a home has to offer!! From the host Dani, to the landscaping, property beauty, home furnishings, location, amenities, and wildlife, we had the most amazing stay!! The pool and outdoor area is worth every penny alone!! Every thing you could possibly need are in this home. The beds are VERY comfortable, pillows are not too flat and not too thick! There are 2 grocery stores less than 5 min away. Light switches for every type of lighting you want. I would build a home exactly like it if I could! Tons of kitchen items, pool toys, drink holders, grocery bags, water bottles, bath towels and beach towels.

Just wow! This was our first trip to Costa Rica and it did not disappoint. After months of researching, we decided to book here. The owner Scott quickly put us into contact with Danny, the caretaker of their property. He was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us the house features, pool and grounds. The property is even more spectacular in person. Danny arranged ALL of our excursions prior to our trip...from a guide at Manuel Antonio, to an ATV tour of waterfalls and countryside, to a day on a catamaran and a chocolate/coffee tour. All were so fun and different. He also arranged a chef dinner a couple of nights with Jenny and Nahomy! If you have a chance, it was such a fun experience for them to cook all the fresh foods of Costa Rica right in our house for the night. They cooked and cleaned up and it was WONDERFUL! We saw monkeys a few afternoons and lots of wildlife. The property is meticulously maintained and the pool is sparkling clean. There wasn't one day that we didn't take advantage of the view and the water! The beds were so comfortable. I've never slept better in my entire life. Danny was so helpful when we needed a cab or had a question about the banks. I only wish we would have booked it for longer! Pura Vida! We will be back!

This home is absolutely perfect for a vacation in the Quepos area. The home is beautiful, and the floorplan is perfect for two couples or a family. But the views from the backyard pool/patio area are even more incredible. The sunset views were amazing from the infinity pool, and the mountain views were just as beautiful. Every morning we enjoyed our coffee on the patio watching all the tropical birds. In the evenings we were visited by two different kinds of monkeys, toucans, iguanas, and more. We had a rental vehicle so the location was close driving distance to the marina, restaurants, groceries and Manuel Anotonio. Communication was great before our trip so we had all of our questions answered before we even arrived. We would love to stay here again, our stay was perfect. And I even got the comment "Wow mom, you found such an awesome vacation home!"

An incredible vacation in an incredible house. We are so happy to have found this VRBO. When we first arrived our 18 and 20 year old sons were even in awe of the property and that takes a lot Lol. Danny the house manager was so helpful with everything and was always just a text away if we needed anything. The sunsets at night while hanging out by the pool after a day full of adventure were one of our favorite things. Definitely a must stay place!!

Ok folks, if you’re looking for a VRBO in Quepos this Is it. If it’s in your price range and there are days available, book it now. It’s the most outstanding place we’ve stayed. The home and its amenities were one of the highlights of our trip. Very comfortable for two couples and three teenagers. 5 - 10 minutes from Quepos. 20 - 30 mins to beaches and Manuel Antonio park. Wildlife seen from the home: sloth in a tree for two days, 10’ from the pool, resident iguanas, toucans, and much more. From the initial communication with the owners to on-arrival communication with Danny, we couldn’t have expected anything better. Great job guys! There’s a reason this home has received perfect ratings. Your search is over. Pura vida

Where to begin? Everything about this property is wonderful. The pictures shown on VRBO don't do complete justice to how beautiful the casa and the property really are.
We stayed for five weeks, which went by much too quickly. We had family visit twice during our stay and they too were in awe.
Danny, the property manager was invaluable from day one. We rented a car at the Quepos airport and immediately got lost trying to find the property. Danny drove to the airport and led us to the casa. He is a SUPER guy and helped us arrange several tours - Manual Antonio National Forest and the Coffee/Chocolate Tour. Both fun and very informative. He also helped arrange for two chefs to come to the casa and prepare delicious meals for us. He also kept the pool crystal clear and maintained the grounds.
We felt very pampered to have Blanca come weekly to clean the house, leaving it spotless and smelling wonderful each time.
We enjoyed swimming in the infinity pool every day, looking the view of the valley and gorgeous nightly sunsets. On property we saw monkeys, macaws, iguanas, beautiful butterflies and more. Fun fun fun.
And while there is some road noise during the day, it's absolutely not enough to diminish the ambience of this magnificent property.

This home and property exceeded our expectations for a vacation rental. The layout of the house was perfect for our group of 5 (two families) and had every provision we could imagine. The property and ocean/mountain view is gorgeous and we were visited by many different types of birds on a daily basis. The outdoor living space and pool area is beyond amazing and we spent many hours lounging in and around the infinity pool. We did many activities while visiting the MA/Quepos area, and property manager Danny was extremely helpful providing advice, booking various excursions for us, and arranging a supper with in-house chefs one evening. Danny checked in on us regularly and was the most attentive property contact/host we have ever had in all of the years we have booked vacation rentals. Hands down this was one of the best rental experiences we have ever had and would not hesitate to recommend this property or rent again if returning to the Quepos area. We booked a rather last minute trip to Costa Rica and after looking at several options in the Manuel Antonio area, we chose this home. Definitely did not disappoint! The communication was great from the get-go and the house had everything that had been promised. Danny was very helpful and went the extra mile when we had our hiking backpacks stolen from our vehicle in downtown Quepos (lesson learned: never leave anything in the car; it can only takes seconds for it to disappear). He went to the police station to help my husband file a report, so we have it documented.
We primarily ate our meals at the home and the kitchen was very well stocked. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. The best part was the outdoor area. Our kids spent a lot of time in the pool and we soaked up the view. We had a few toucans visit, as well as other birds.
If you are searching for a place to stay, I'd definitely recommend this home. It was located near all of the activities we chose and a great landing place for our family of six at night. Perhaps we'll be back again some day.

We saw many iguanas and toucans from the patio and a sloth walking to a new tree on the drive into the house. Quick and easy drive to Marina Pez Vela for fishing. Because this was our first time to CR, we really didn’t know where we wanted to be. We spent hours researching and trying to choose a location. We absolutely chose well!
Quickly after booking this property we had clear and thorough communication with the owners as well as a guide provided through the house (Danny). We read the reviews of this property and one of the reasons we chose it was because of the raving reviews about Danny’s services. Those reviews were accurate!
The drive from the San Jose airport was a little longer than we would have liked and the roads were not like US highways but we made it to paradise without any problems. Danny was waiting for us and showed us around the property. It truly is breathtaking! The layout of the house was perfect for our family with 2 older teenage boys. The back patio was exquisite and I wish we would have had more time to spend just soaking it in. The house is well stocked, clean and beautiful!
Mid-week a cleaning crew came in and cleaned the house and even did our laundry. What a pleasant surprise!!
Danny was just a text (WhatsApp) away. He answered quickly. We asked him to help book our excursions. He chose well and set up all the details.
One afternoon we found a sloth sleeping in a tree near the pool.
Several times throughout our trip we talked about where we could build such a home in our hometown. I would copy it exactly…and I hope it comes with a sloth, a cleaning crew and a Danny!

My wife, son, daughter, and I stayed for 9 days and it was probably the best family vacation we have ever had. Costa Rica is a phenomenal country but everyone knows that. What everyone does not know is that this house is absolutely amazing! This is by far the most well-appointed vacation home we have ever stayed in. Scott and Clyde have thought of everything and have gone above and beyond expectations in providing anything you could possibly need as a guest to their home. They even had beach towels and coolers! The house itself is thoughtfully designed with a perfect layout for families. It was immaculately clean and has obviously been lovingly maintained. The pool area was awesome for daily happy hour and watching the breathtaking Costa Rican sunsets. The gardens around the home are spectacular as well. The location is perfect for exploring the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area plus only about an hour drive to Dominical for day trips. The day after I made the reservation, Scott sent me very welcoming email with a ton of useful information about the area. The property manager, Danny was incredibly friendly and helpful. He set up all of our adventure tours for us and sent me reminders the night before each one about cost, location and meet times. He made sure we had everything we needed and was always quick to answer any questions. Danny is a genuinely kind warm hearted man and makes you feel so welcome in this home and his country. This is a 5 star property. LOVED IT!

We absolutely LOVED this AMAZING place!! So comfortable and so classy! The kids lived in the pool (so many pool toys!), grandpa was up early for birdwatching, grandma enjoyed the lovely AC, comfy master bed, incredible plants all around, and artwork.
The hardest thing about this place was navigating through the gate (requiring an opener; received one, though we were really two cars/parties -- family plus grandparents), up the hill (we had a little harrowing experience trying to find out way at night and going the wrong way), and getting inside (the battery was out on the auto-lock thing and we had only one key, so were stuck outside for awhile). The absolute BEST THING about this place was DANNY!!! Danny arranged for anything we needed help to see, he was very available via WhatsApp and so sweet and kind! When we told him our getting-in problems, he brought us an extra opener and key.

Ronny was a pleasure to work with throughout our stay! This was a last minute booking due to passport issues and Ronny was very accommodating, even letting us in the property early! The house worked perfectly for our family of 5 and we really enjoyed the pool area (including some delicious grilled meals). If we are back in the area, we will definitely rent this property again!

The views from the patio/pool deck are indescribably beautiful. There are multiple areas for seating - each providing an oasis from which to view the ocean, the sunsets, the rainforest, and the active wildlife all around.
The interior is also top-notch. The kitchen is very well-stocked, the common areas are large and accommodating, and the master bedroom/bathroom are luxurious. The other two bedrooms have their own wing of the property - with terrific views of the pool area as well.
Danny, the property manager, was incredible. He made us feel welcomed - and provided great recommendations for places to visit, suggestions for activities nearby, and help with questions. Danny's level of service is equal to what you would expect at a high-end resort. He even arranged for private chefs to serve dinner at the house - taking our customer orders, doing the grocery shopping for us, and providing transportation to and from the house for the chefs. The two chefs made an incredible meal for our family - a truly memorable experience.

From first contact, the property owners and their property manager were incredibly kind and helpful. Danny, the on-site manager, made our trip. He arranged all of our tours, scheduled massage services in the home, arranged a surprise party (including decorations, a thoughtful gift, a beautiful custom cake, and phenomenal in home chef service!!!), AND arranged a taxi to an English speaking hospital when one of us came down with tonsillitis. We couldn’t have done this without him and he was always a text away. I am eternally grateful to Danny and all he did for our family.
The home is absolutely perfect and even better than the pictures. The house is plenty of space for 6-7 people, well appointed, and absolutely immaculate. The kitchen is very well equipped for every day use as well as all of the tools that the chef service needed to create an elaborate multi-course dinner (which I highly recommend! With the leftovers, we had many delicious meals!) The grounds are breathtaking with beautiful tropical landscaping as well as some natural forest in the back which invites plenty of interesting wildlife(like monkeys and toucans). The pool was a dream come true, always warm with surreal view and once in a lifetime sunsets. The property is in a safe and secure community and the home itself has many security features that allowed us to feel totally at ease.
This home is a slice of paradise and I can’t wait to return.

We couldn't be happier with our stay at this well quipped and gorgeous property. It was a peaceful retreat for our family of 5 and we don't think we've ever stayed at a nicer VRBO home. They had everything you could possibly want or need and the home was very clean and relaxing. The outdoor kitchen, pool and views were stunning and we didn't want to leave. Also, thank you to Danny who answered all my questions, booked tours and got a noisy AC fixed right away so we could have a perfect stay. Pura vida!

Communication with Scott (owner) and Danny (property manager) was phenomenal. The pictures of the house do not do it justice- it was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need to have the perfect vacation and the view was amazing. White face monkeys toucans and iguanas were only a few of the animals we saw on the property. Danny provided a lot of options for activities in the area and was very accommodating. Location was approximately 10-15 min drive Manuel Antonio park.

This place is truly exceptional! Every space of this home if wonderfully thought out and planned. The set up was perfect for our family of five (kids ages 12, 9 and 5). We actually had a hard time getting the kids out of the house to enjoy Costa Rica!
We were visited by squirrel monkeys, a large iguana and many beautiful birds scattered throughout our visit.
From the first communication we got from Scott and Clyde, we knew this stay would be great. Danny was so wonderful and helpful. He offered to help plan any excursion we wanted to take. I can’t completely express how wonderful this place and the people are.
The house is very private with beautiful views where you can watch the sun set. The pool is exceptional and gets very deep. The BBQ setup was wonderful. I loved drinking my coffee out there in the morning while listening to the wildlife wake up.

From the second we arrived until we departed, our stay was amazing. There is SO much space in this casa. The arrangement of the home was perfect for our family. My two teenage sons had their own rooms and a nice size bathroom and shower to share. Our main room was on the opposite side of the house with a large bathroom and large shower. The breathtaking views of the forest are amazing throughout the casa. We used the outdoor space night and day. The unobstructed view of the sunset is beautiful. The open floor plan is very well-planned out. Every single detail in this home is perfect.
The road is part gravel and we had no problem driving up in our car. The town Quepos is a five-minute drive and has everything you need. Danni, the property manager is the best. Great communication and set us up with various tours and anything we needed, he was accommodating with a smile every time. He was a HUGE help. The cleaning lady came with notice while we were on a tour and did a terrific job, even cleaning our laundry and sheets. I HIGHLY recommend this casa, I promise you will not be disappointed.

This house is absolutely amazing!!! The pool and the view were gorgeous. They have thought of everything to make you feel at home in the rainforest; from the pots and pans to pool toys and blenders! The owners were super knowledgeable about the area and helped us plan out our travel. Danny also helped us plan our excursions. He was very helpful while we were there and gave us great recommendations of activities and restaurants.

This house is absolutely stunning. It is close to Manuel Antonio beach and park, in a private location on top of a hill with views all the way to the ocean. The house itself is beautiful, modern and comfortable, with a really nice pool. Danny the property manager was really kind and helpful and made sure we had the best stay possible.

Our family, my husband and I, and two teen children (13 & 16) had an amazing time at this house. The booking process was very easy and we had good communication with the owners as well as their house manager Danny. Having Danny, a local in Costa Rica was wonderful. He reached out to us to help with booking activities and although we didn’t use his service he did help us out a number of times during our stay. Danny greeted us at the house and gave us a tour going through the entire house. Let me tell you this house has absolutely EVERYTHING you need! I’ve stayed in many VRBOs and this was much more equipped then any I’ve stay in. We were staying in Costa Rica to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday. Danny suggested the chef services and a birthday party. He took care of booking the chefs, decorating and getting the birthday cake. It really was an amazing night and my son was so surprised! We got the chef services twice while we were there and let me tell you these ladies know how to cook! A must do. Can’t say enough about how good the food was (especially the empanadas-I dream about them). The ladies were so nice and just made our dinners so special.
During our time we had a problem with an air conditioning unit and the pool filter. A message to Danny and he was there quickly and got the issues resolved. He really is an asset to the owners and this property. The house is more beautiful in person then the pictures. Highly recommend!

This beautiful property exceeded our expectations in so many ways! This sprawling estate is filled with amenities, and surrounded by windows to never lose sight of the breathtaking views outside. We spent most of our time on the beautiful, spacious patio, enjoying the view, wildlife, and magical sunsets. Our stay at this home was simply perfect and was one of the highlights of our trip!

The house and property beat our (high) expectations. The layout of the house is ideal for a family with a teenager as there is plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is very well equipped and the gas BBQ very handy -- good things given the ravenous teenager in our party. The pool was declared by the family the best yet (and we have had many great vrbo houses with pools). The visits by monkeys, toucans and even a sloth made the trip magical. Communication with the owners and with the local manager, Danny, were very efficient and always very helpful. Do eat at Juiberths just a short distance away. Better than 5 stars all around.

Few things that are important to us when we book VRBOs: cleanliness, comfy beds, location and what previous travelers have said about the home/homeowners. This place is amazing and hits all the marks. The pool and outdoor amenities are top notch, not to mention waking up to the chirping toucans gave it a whole different vibe. Danny was equally amazing and was able to help with so many things (helping make our daughter's birthday extra special, hiring in home chef experience etc.) Communication with the owners was great. This is the most fabulous vrbo we have ever rented. It is as beautiful as the photos and then some. The house is also exceedingly well outfitted with ample towels (pool and bath), variety of kitchen pots, pans, gadgets, etc., and a great laundry area. The star of the show is the pool area. This house is located in a gated community and it is ideal to have your own car. I personally wouldn't rent it w/o the car. What you gain in privacy is amazing. If you like the photos and what you read in the listing, you will love stay9ing here.

The pool was one of the nicest I've ever seen and the outside patio was fantastic. We had a great time at this property. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from the restaurants in Manuel Antonio however all of the restaurants are strung out along the ridge so you pretty much have to drive everywhere anyway. We really noticed the noise from the road below and had to sleep with the windows closed and the aircon on. It is a big house and everyone had their own space and the pool was great. Danny was very helpful and although we didn’t use him to book anything he was very communicative and answered our questions.

We’re just back from an amazing five-week stay at this beautiful property. I’m known in our family for picking great accommodations when we travel, but when my oldest daughter said “mom, you’ve outdone yourself this time”, I had to agree! The home had everything we were looking for: it was SO clean, beautifully furnished, a full-size and well-equipped kitchen (including a new outdoor kitchen by the pool), tons of windows, amazing outdoor space, a beautiful pool, and a stunning view.
A few things for those considering a stay:
1) The owners were amazing and responsive, but the house also comes with a phenomenal property manager. It was helpful to have someone close by who could answer questions or address any issues. For example, our internet went out and he worked to get it turned back on (outside and in the POURING rain) in a single day. We were so grateful for this since we were teleworking during part of our visit.
2) The house manager also provided a sort of concierge service by helping to get things scheduled or giving us advice on day trips. So helpful!
3) The house is in a great location. Private, safe, and perfectly situated outside of the tourist fray. Yet, we still felt like it was easy/fast to get to restaurants or activities. I even borrowed a bicycle for getting to a nearby gym (there was some equipment at the house that’s probably adequate for most folks).
4) We were there from mid-July and to the end of August. This is technically rainy season in Costa Rica, so there are less tourists and really, we thought this was the perfect time to visit. The rain was (somewhat) predictable, so we made it a point to wake up early each morning for our activities/day-trips and were usually home by the time the rain came in. The design of the house made it perfect for rainy afternoons/evenings. We either grabbed a cocktail and sat on the balcony or opened the huge sliding windows to enjoy (some pretty epic) storms from the living room.
5) The patio area was stunning and the infinity pool was just heaven. We spent a good deal of timing floating around (there were quite a few floating devices), taking in the view.
6) Finally, the wildlife at the house was just amazing. We lost track of all of the birds we saw while floating around in the pool (even a Toucan!) and various types of monkeys came through at least three times a week. Amazing!
We had a phenomenal visit; couldn’t recommend this beautiful home more!
