About this cabin rental
A big thank you to all of our 2023 five star guests! We have two person canoe, two one person kayaks, and two paddle boards for your use. Also, The Old Log Cabin has a smart TV, so that you can mirror streaming services from your smart phone. In addition, COMCAST WIFI and streaming, fast speed internet, great reception.
You will step back in time when you stay at this preserved historic log house (circa 1790). The old log house is now equipped with a galley kitchen that has an electric stove, ref., sink, blender, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, and stacked washer/dryer. There is a dining area adjacent to the kitchen, as well as another on the lake front outside porch. The second room on the main floor is a living area with TV/DVD, futon, and hammock which is great for naps.
The second floor of the log home has a bath with pedestal sink, toilet, and bath tub. There are two bedrooms upstairs (one large bedroom with two twin beds and a queen bed; the second bedroom with a queen bed). Each bedroom has its own pedestal sink. But don't worry, this old log house now has central air conditioning and heat as well as a fireplace and wood stove downstairs!
This interesting and unique old log cabin is located on very private, wooded property and is geared to outdoor fun and living. In addition to the inside bathroom, there is an outdoor shower with hot/cold water. A covered outdoor cooking area with a 5 burner gas grill, under counter ref. and water is available for added convenience. If you prefer cooking out with charcoal or wood, there is also a lakeside fire pit and charcoal grill with water. The dock area is large, with a table, umbrella, slide, and rope swing. The beach is sandy and gently sloping which is great for small children. Also, two kayaks along with other lake toys are available for use. The fun won't stop when the sun goes down, because the dock, all cooking areas, and paths are well illuminated with outdoor lighting.
This property is located on a peninsula in a small community with a quiet private road that's great for family walks or jogging.

Peaceful, easygoing, they have thought of everything. The dock, the campfire area down by the river, the back covered porch, the covered grill at the smaller building, no matter where you are, if you think…I need “this”, you look around and “this” is right there, just where it should be. Yet, it still feels completely authentic. Don’t miss it! We will be back every year.

It was a perfect setting for a much needed getaway and rest.
Very well equipped with everything needed to enjoy ourselves.
Husband asked if we could stay a couple of extra days-after checking it was already booked. I told him that we would be back.
Had a great time fishing off the dock and just hanging around.
And added surprise was the gentleman that played the bagpipes every evening a little after 5pm.....Amazing Grace.
I being slightly physically handicapped the stairs were a little narrow but I managed and would still return and recommend such a wonderful place.
A true gem among the giants......such a beautiful and natural setting. Run to book this historical cabin.

What an amazing stay. 1790s cabin restored in the 80s. Beautiful and still had all we needed for our trip to the lake. We visited historic Bedford during the day and spent our evenings in this beautiful historic cabin. Met the owner Dave and he gave us a full tour and history. He also gave us some great suggestions for places to eat and places to get great views of the area.

It makes an amazing cabin tucked away in a quiet street. The lake is all around you. The oasis of the pathway and hammocks..perfect. The stairs to the top floor can be challenging. The outdoor shower sounds primitive but it too brings you back to nature with fall colored leaves joining you. The cabin itself...just read the hatchet cuts in the hand hewn timbers and you will feel your sense of American pride at what our forefathers carved out of the wild. Already planning out return trip

My husband and I loved this place! It was so nice to unwind and block out all of life's distractions. Mr. Oliver called the night before and told us we could check in a little earlier than expected, which was really nice. He was there to meet us and show us around the property. Everything was very clean and exactly as stated. He definitely has put a lot of time and love into this magical place. He thought of everything anyone could possibly need. We give it 5 stars!

A great place to step back in time and relax. Lots of water activities or lots of doing nothing if you want. Do your research on the area because nothing is obvious.

This cabin is authentic to it’s time, and yet, magically, you want for NOTHING, indoors or outdoors. It was a dream, and we will return every year. LOVED it.

This was our second time staying at the cabin (2021 and 2023) and we had the absolute best stay. The amenities that go along with the rustic elegance of the property are unbeatable. The beds are comfortable, the cabin is fully stocked with anything you would ever need, the outdoor kitchen space is a great addition, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and everything you would need for all the water activities-floats, paddles, life jackets. The front porch and dock is where we spent a lot of our time, and the daytime and nighttime views of the stars are stunning. We rented a boat at David’s recommendation and it worked out great for us. We appreciate David sharing his cabin with our family and are already looking into booking our third trip.

I have stayed at this cabin multiple times with family and alone. It is beautiful and everything you want at a lake cabin. The inside is lovely and comfortable and the outside is really where you want to be, the outdoor kitchen area, fire pit and dock with swings and a slide is a dream. Mr. Oliver is a great host and leaves little touches like fresh flowers on the porch and in the bedrooms. I am sure I will be back.

We love staying in this log house, though availability is often difficult, probably due to its' popularity. We have already made our reservations for next year. It's nice that we can bring the dogs.
Everything is provided (i.e. cookware, linens, anything water related, gas grill, wi-fi....) we just brought food, fishing items, and made arrangements to reserve a boat.
The outdoor shower is terrific (in terms of water pressure and hot water). The single bathroom (located upstairs) only has a tub.

This is my happy place. The host puts love in every little assept of the property.
A little chilly for water sports and the fishing was stalled due to the unusual late spring like weather.
Can't wait to return in July.

This was our first visit and we loved it!! The cabin was perfect with a historical feeling and charm that captured our hearts. It was more than the pictures..clean, comfortable and well supplied with all you need to feel pampered. The host is also very thorough and accommodating. We have already booked a week for next year.
