About this house rental
Coronavirus Update:
Reservations cancelled due to this pandemic are fully refundable, until the CDC fully eases restrictions to travel, etc. Susurro is cleaned per local and state recommendations with 1 day vacant between guests.
Please note Susurro is entirely independent of the rest of our home, meaning that there is no shared ventilation, which makes Susurro an even safer place for you to stay. We welcome any and all suggestions for keeping you healthy during your stay.
Update:
January 25, 2023 - we have replaced our beautiful antique stove ( truthfully - that was a challenge to cook on) with a new contemporary inductive electric stove (with convection and air fry oven) due to recent research documenting the health hazards associated with gas stoves and replaced all stove related cooking utensils.
We replaced the living room sofa with a Room and Board sleeper couch that is very comfortable.
Additionally we will be solar powered with the installation of photovoltaic panels towards the end of February 2023. We have installed an EV charger (Level 2 ChargePoint 48amp) that is fee for the first time use as well.
Welcome to Boulder, Colorado...everything you want from a big city, yet it feels like a small town; world-class restaurants and shops, a major university, an abundance of cultural events, a plethora of year-round outdoor activities and lots of music from around the globe.
Minutes from downtown Boulder, walking distance to excellent coffee and tea houses, restaurants, bakery, shopping, well equipped grocery store, trails and more. Our artist’s home is located within a quiet, historic residential district known as Mapleton Hill. 'Susurro' - our sunny and light, very private garden/walk-out apartment has a separate entrance and is part of our recently eco-remodeled home originally built in 1910. Our 750 sq. ft. apartment is colorful, eclectically furnished, with hot water baseboard heating, solar powered, all domestic water filtered, cork floors, lots of light, antique cooking stove, custom trim, open layout, split level (with two steps) - living room/dining room/kitchen, hand painted floor, and mosaic tiled bathroom floor. Our home is a “come and borrow a cup of organic sugar” kind of home. Please note - Susurro is exceptionally well insulated however, we live upstairs, we are very quiet and we do not wear shoes inside our home. If you need total silence please reconsider - you will hear soft footsteps but never voices and in eight years we have had only two complaints.
'Susurro' is two blocks away from the foothills of the Rockies with great hiking trails, and the continental divide only a thirty-minute drive away. We are a 30 minute drive to Denver; 30 minute drive to Eldora Mountain Resort, 60 minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park, and a 1.5 to 2.25 hour drive to Loveland, Winter Park, Breckenridge and Vail ski areas.
Boulder has year-round sunshine. The winter season usually brings brief snow storms followed by beautiful sunny days. It's not uncommon to have warm weather in the high 60s-70s in February and March. Late spring and summer offers warm days, wonderful thunderstorms and few airborne pests. Please note - we do not use pesticides or insecticides in Susurro, so you will occasionally find spiders. If this is a problem please make other arrangements. Falls are warm with cool nights and some of the most amazing displays of light and color.
Well cared for and behaved dogs are welcome.
Inspections and Safety:
City of Boulder Short Term Rental License RHL-0000634

Perfect location for visiting my daughter who lives in the neighborhood. Felt safe leaving my windows open at night, enjoying the sounds of crickets and listening to the gentle raindrops which I’m told are rare in august in Colorado.
Overall a very peaceful and pleasant experience.

The property is creative and funky in the best sort of way, the hosts are amazing people who are warm and welcoming and long time inhabitants of the area, and the location is quite peaceful while giving quick access to both mountain trails and all the amenities of downtown Boulder.
The neighborhood where the property sits provides a beautiful pagentry of diverse architecture and landscaping and was a joy to explore when not hiking or exploring downtown. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed making and eating meals here when not sampling the restaurants nearby.

This cozy basement apartment was perfect for us! We spent a weekend visiting our CU Boulder student and exploring the town. Very comfortable beds, fun and memorable decor and furnishings, extremely quiet neighborhood and peaceful, home-y house. The nearby hiking trail is stunning(!) and the restaurants and food store .5 mile walk away were great too. The owners were kind and responsive throughout our stay. Highly recommend!

We came out with our pups to visit our son at Boulder. We needed an affordable place that had a yard for our doggos. We also had pur teenage daughter with us.

I have stayed in fancier places, bigger places, more picturesque places, but there was something "Goldilocks just right" about this place. It was modestly appointed but had everything I needed, including a coffee machine with a timer!!! The beds were comfy, the bedrooms were peaceful and serene. The decor is fun and funky without being chaotic. There was a Bluetooth sound bar which allowed me to play my music while I wound down in the evenings. And it was soooo quiet, I didn't hear a single sound from the unit above me, or any street noise (not that there would have been much, it is a very quiet street). It was less than a 20 minute walk to downtown, along streets with great sidewalks. Overall a 5+ star experience.

So thankful for this beautiful jewel. From the moment I walked through the gate and down the path I felt like I was in a secret garden! Warm, welcoming, filled with light🌟 Exactly what my daughter and I needed for the week. Dealing with the host Bruce was a joy. He was quick to respond and very helpful when i found out I had a last minute change of plans, needing a one night extension. I would love to stay here again sometime and would highly recommend it to anyone needing a peaceful, clean, quiet place rejuvenate! Dr J
