About this cabin rental
Did we say 'great' enough? It's all true. Everyone that stays here says they love this cabin. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is well... Great.
Number 6 Chalet recently finished a full top to bottom, inside and out renovation. This is the sixth property that we have renovated in the Chalet Village resort. Usually, when are working on a cabin we find its most distinctive feature and use that to come up with its name. While we were working on this cabin, there were just so many great features that we just could not come up with that perfect name that could properly describe all of the unique features that we put into this chalet. During the renovation, everybody started referring to this cabin as 'Number 6', since it was our sixth. In the end, we stuck with the name decided to call it Number 6 Cabin, a combination of it's own unique character and everything that we have learned from the five that came before it.
The result of the renovation on Number 6 Chalet is a very comfortable vacation chalet which combines modern comfort and convenience with the rustic charm that its developers created 50 years ago. We know that you will enjoy your vacation here and want to come back season after season and year after year.
Number 6 Chalet has three floors. The lower floor is the game room and bar area. It has a full size pool table and lounge area with plenty of seating. There is a wood burning fireplace at one end of the game room with a 55 inch television mounted over it. In the bar area, there is a wet bar with a beverage refrigerator. The bar area has a 40 inch smart television. The sofa in the bar area converts into a very comfortable full size bed. This floor offers a full bathroom with a shower. There is also a full size washer and dryer located on this floor. The lower floor has hardwood flooring except the bathroom which is tile.
The second floor has a very comfortable living room with sofa, loveseat, and recliner chair. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room with a 50 inch smart television mounted over the fireplace. The dining room has a very large wooden table which can seat 8 or more people comfortably. The beautiful kitchen has stainless appliances. There is a master bedroom with a king bed and 40 inch smart television on this floor along with a full bathroom with tub and shower. The second floor has hardwood flooring throughout except for the bathroom, which is tile. There are excellent views of the mountains from the living room and dining room. There is a wrap around deck on this floor which has a dining table, deck chairs, and a hot tub with great mountain views.
The upper floor master bedroom has a king bed and a lounger. The master opens onto a private covered balcony which has one of the most spectacular views in the Smoky Mountains. It offers an unobstructed full on view of Mt. Le Conte and the Great Smoky Mountains national park. There are deck chairs provided where you can relax 'between the bears rain or shine. There is a 40 inch smart television in this bedroom. The rear bedroom has two queen beds in it and includes a 40 inch smart television. There is a full bathroom on this floor which has a tub and shower. This floor is hardwood throughout except for the bathroom which is tile.
Entertainment - For those times when you want to just kick back and chill, Number 6 Chalet has state of the art entertainment. Each room has a Smart TV. Each of the bedrooms and the bar area have a 40 inch screen while the living room has a 50 inch screen. In the game room, there is 55 inch screen over the fireplace. Each of these televisions are WI-FI connected and offer Smart Apps such as Netflix, HULU, Amazon, and hundreds more. We offer high speed (300+ Mb/s) Internet so you can stream to your WI-FI connected devices without a hitch. Every TV has available HDMI inputs so you can bring your game console or streaming device if you want. We also provide Blu-Ray/DVD players which can be hooked to any of the televisions if you want to bring your favorite discs.
Note that we no longer offer any cable access. Due to the increased prices of cable and the lack of interest by our guests, we have cut the cord on cable. This was a very high price that we were passing on to a small amount of guests that were actually using it. All TV's have many free streaming options including Pluto TV. In most cases, guests can log in to their own streaming subscriptions. All TVs include Apple and Google cast.
Driving - Please note that Chalet Village is located on the side of a mountain above the City of Gatlinburg. Access to this area is by steep mountain roads. The roads are generally in excellent shape, even during the winter ski season. The driveway at Number 6 Chalet is only about 25 feet long, but it is steep. It is accessible by most vehicles. Cars with very low ground clearance (think Corvette) may drag at the entrance to the street and are not recommended. Trailers are also not recommended. If you have a trailer, let us know and we can arrange an alternate parking spot for it. Vehicles with slick tires or no tread may not be able to access this cabin. There is good flat parking with turn around at the top of the driveway. There is parking for a maximum of three vehicles. Some of our guests who are not used to driving in the mountains do experience 'driveway panic' the first time the see the driveway. Usually, after they have driven up a time or two they become pros. We have had hundreds of different vehicles at the cabin and only one or two that were too low to make it.

We had an AMAZING time at this cabin!! It was large, clean, beautifully decorated, so much space for our 3 older teens to hang out late at night playing pool and watching the large tv, and more!
The driveway is steep BUT our minivan had no trouble at all making it up the first day. The following day, our van was having some issues that started while going up the mountain and we had to call to have it towed (it was NOT because of the driveway or even the mountain roads. Our van has just over 150,000 miles on it so it needed a new alternator.)
The tow truck came SO QUICK, as we were just stuck in the middle of the road!
The owners of the cabin were incredibly caring and thoughtful when they found out what happened, even though it wasn’t their fault AT ALL!!!
They brought us a DVD player and a movie to watch while we were waiting for our van to be fixed at the mechanic.
While we were bummed about our van, we all had such great quality time together as a family, playing cards at the huge dining room table and sitting outside on the deck to see the STUNNING view of the mountains!!
While we were outside, we even saw a few bears!!! We were so excited and we’re still in AWE over that experience right at the property!!
I can’t say enough good things about this place!! I HIGHLY recommend staying here!! You won’t be sorry!!
This was an experience of a lifetime for us!! Mountains, bears, family fun in a huge, gorgeous cabin- we couldn’t have asked for more!

Place was as described. Driveway was steep but we made it. We were lucky and saw a mama bear and three cubs from the porch. Hot tub was relaxing. Easy to go to downtown.

We enjoyed our Smokey Mountain stay. The hosts were awesome with their quick response time when we had questions. The cabin was clean. WIFI was excellent. You can tell the hosts value feedback. And are constantly making updates and improvements. I already suggested that they update pictures of the cabin on the web. The ones on there don't do it justice. We were 6 adults and 1 teen. We all had plenty of room. Enjoyed gathering around the large kitchen table and using the large clean hot tub every night. We did see bears and enjoyed watching them from the deck. Enjoyed the beautiful new outdoor furniture too! Yes, the driveway is quite steep and the roads up to the cabin are quite steep and curvy. But they didnt stop us from venturing out daily. We loved how quickly we could get to Gaitlinburg. 10 mins? And enjoyed utilizing the swimming pool/community room/excercise equipment that was also just a short distance away. This facility was pleasantly well kept. Loved the little added touches at the house. There was plenty of bath towels, toilet paper, and dishwasher detergent. Also had a small dish soap, and bar hand soap for the bathrooms. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

We all had a wonderful time was not fond of the steep driveway and roads but overall impressed

Driveway extremely steep, parking area was confusing for tenant next door, many stairs made it difficult for one member to enjoy the whole property. Property well-stocked with styloid, beautiful decor, comfortable. Owners exceptional.

Our family had the most incredible stay because of the view and location of this home. The property is clean, large and well equipped with everything you’ll need. Best of all it comes with a spectacular view of Gaitlenburg and Mr. LaConte and is a 5 minute drive to the Gaitlenburg trailhead.

Amazing view, cabin is awesome, more than enough room for everyone, kitchen is well stocked. Cozy fireplace in the living room and game room. Beds sleep great. Overall would book this property again. Tim and Carol are fabulous!!

The owners were great from start to finish. Very helpful and descriptive. My family and I had such an awesome vacation. Definitely want to come back here. The cleanliness (meant to leave better tip for housekeeping…had to with morning rush on our part), the view, the beauty and uniqueness of the home, great location to enjoy gatlinburg. Pictures online didn’t do it justice. Wish we were still there. Hot tub looked so clean…unfortunately we ran out of time. Had a beautiful fire in fireplace. So much room and comfort. Loved this place!!! My family thoroughly enjoyed ♥️

Impressive view from top bedroom. Nice stay. Wasn't at house much due to a wedding, but enjoyable. Only downside to stay is the driveway was a very steep grade added the steep grade that properties are built on, challenging at times.

This cabin is absolutely beautiful! Perfect for a family vacation! The owners are the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The cabin has a 3 levels, hot tub, grill, pool table, 2 fireplaces, decks on 3 levels with incredible views of the mountains. Multiple Interior windows/doors on main floor also give you aerial view of the mountains. It’s 5 mins from Gatlinburg and 20 minutes from Pigeon Forge. Very well maintained! The owners even decorated the place for Christmas with exterior lights and an indoor Christmas tree! I’d give it more stars if I could! Would definitely book again!!

The cabin is in a great location and had plenty of room for everyone. Plenty of TV's, very nice hot tub which we enjoyed daily, and comfortable beds. The communication with the owners including instructions was spot on. The driveway is steep but even though it seems intimidating we had no problems parking 2 cars.
However, the cabin definitely needs some updating as mentioned by an earlier guest. The carpet needs to be replaced asap. The bed on the main floor separated from its frame several times. There were several chipped and cracked coffee mugs- which I left on the counter to be discarded by the owner. The picnic table on the deck is a great idea but is in such poor shape that the plastic is cracking to small sharp pieces. We played cards on it every evening but it had very sharp edges. The chair in the main room has a spring coming up through the seat. that should be an easy fix. Several lightbulbs were out throughout the house. Attention to the detail needs to be addressed.
So, would I stay here again or recommend? IF the cabin undergoes updates and refreshening. Yes we would.

Check in was simple. The place was great. Very big, plenty of space. Cabin was clean and cozy. Beautiful views of the mountains. On our last day, a bear walked right up to our deck and climbed up the side wall to go up the hill. We were able to watch from behind the deck and it was great! Saw lots of bears during the stay!

My family had a great time. The house is perfect for 6 or more. Even better is the location to downtown Gatlinburg.

Enjoyed the house and the area very much. Easy WiFi connection. Saw bears throughout the week. Enjoyed the pool table and the hot during down time. Plenty of room and nice large dining table for games and meals. Everything was clean and a nice location to visit Gatlinburg and the Smoky mountains.

From the second we pulled up, we knew we were in for a great time. Everything was just as described, including the amazing view. The owners were in immediate contact and made check in and put smooth. To top everything off, we were treated with visits from a Mama bear, her two cubs and later a larger male. Highly recommended!

We had an absolute wonderful time staying at the cabin for the weekend! We were a last-minute booking, but Tim and Carol accommodating us very well! The pictures of the cabin do not do it justice. I was slightly apprehensive because of another revealed that complain about the smell But this is one of the nicest cabins we’ve ever stayed in a pier in Gatlinburg and we will for sure be back. All the amenities, kitchen tools, and extras you could need for a fabulous time! We couldn’t find an excuse to leave! You will see bear!!! We had a very close encounter with a huge male bear on the porch that we will never forget! Lock your truck but leave your worries behind because Tim + Carol have this wonderful home set up for enjoyment!

Our family had a very nice stay. The home was very comfortable and fit my family of 6 well. The kitchen was adequately stocked, we prepared simple meals and used the grill. The location was very convenient to the national park and Gatlinburg. The hot tub was lovely. The driveway was scarily steep, but both our Prius and Ford Fusion managed it well. Unfortunately, the neighboring house was under reservations so there was constant construction noise during the day, a relatively small annoyance for an otherwise lovely stay.

We had a great time. The kids loved the game room and the adults loved the hot tub. Our trip was complete when a bear walked down the street. Only concern was the driveway. I bottomed out every time going uphill but OK going downhill. The drive is paved so tires gripped well. We hope to return next year

Pros & Cons
Pros:
-nice layout for large family group allows privacy and multiple areas to hang out
-nice view of mountains from porches
-hot tub clean & hot!!
-extra laundry supplies
-nice big storage closet in main floor bathroom makes a good pantry as kitchen is on the small side
-close to town & national park
Cons:
-not enough dishes/silverware in kitchen to serve the number of guests the home is supposed to accommodate
-poor attention to detail in cleaning (kids handprints on mirrors / dusty curtains / debris under beds from former guests)
-needs attention to maintenance (slats under one bed were broken prior to our check-in / boards on another bedframe had broken and been zip-tied up, but were still falling down / some light bulbs burned out)
-rocking chairs on porch don't actually rock (rockers are too flat)
-had to hunt through the house to find enough sheets & blankets for futon bed downstairs
Of note:
-There were black bears (adults and juveniles, including a mama with cubs) wandering around the neighborhood and up through the yard on both sides of the house on almost a daily basis. A gate at the bottom of the stairs would be nice (vs. the one at the top that currently doesn't enclose the side door). It would also probably be wise to warn guests to look outside before leaving the house to avoid any close encounters.

Close to town but felt a world away
The house - which was impeccably clean - isn't even 5 minutes from town but still so secluded. Having 2 living rooms + outdoor space gave us enough room to comfortably host a large gathering. Best of all, the pool table + hot tub + multiple smart TVs were enough to keep 4 teenagers complaint-free. The only thing I could possibly claim to be an inconvenience is the proximity to a full size grocery store (20+ minutes away), but even that was to be expected when in the mountains. And while the driveway is doable without 4 wheel drive, I felt a lot better about it knowing I had it.

Cabin 6
The cabin was nice and big. There was plenty of room for our large family. It was a beautiful view of the mountains and I liked the fact there are swimming pools right in the area., especially when you have kids with you.

The view from here is amazing. The cabin was amazing and fit all 3 families (10 people total) with ease. We never felt on top of one another. We did a sister/cousin trip and it couldn’t have been better. The drive up was a little rough but it was worth it for the view. Owners were very responsive. We ran out of propane and immediately had a new bottle before dinner the next night. Hair dryers. Make up wipes. Everything you could think of. Would definitely rent again

Great place for a vacation with family! Plus, dog friendly! Drive way is steep but manageable - we had three vehicles with our group! There is room to turn around at the top of the drive way. Close to the Park entrance.

Absolutely amazing
My friends and I from work are all healthcare workers. After the past year we’ve had that has been full of nothing but stress and exhaustion, we all decided to get a cabin in gatlinburg for a weekend vacation. I found this cabin and rented it and thought the pictures of the area and cabin looked amazing. Well, upon arrival, we had no idea that it was this amazing. It was extremely clean, beautiful, the view was amazing, and it was overall perfect for the weekend getaway. Carol was extremely helpful with everything, and we will definitely be renting again!

Steep Serenity
My only regret is we couldn’t stay longer! It’s a beautiful property with remarkable views of Mt. Leconte. We especially enjoyed a late spring snow while soaking in the hot tub. Everyone in our party of six had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy our stay. The condo was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. Yes, the driveway is steep, but it’s a mountain top cabin and quite manageable! You can do it! Do yourself a favor and book it for your next mountain getaway. We certainly hope to be back soon!

Wonderful!
The home was perfect size for 3 seperate families. My husband and I who had 2 kids, my father and his wife and son, and my adult brother and his fiance! Plenty of space very clean and in the heart of it all! We enjoyed our vacation being able to be together here each day! Highly recommend!

Book it!
What a great getaway. Extremely close drive to downtown gatlinburg. Plenty of sleeping room and a kitchen with everything you need. The bathroom amenities were all wonderful as well. Beautiful Mountain view! There are a lot of steps which we hadn’t planned for. No big deal for the majority of us but my in-laws are older. They did fine and no complaining but just something to take into account. Owners were easily accessible if needed. Would stay again! Also highly recommend visiting anakeesta. Go early to beat the crowds. We also loved the pizza at smoky mountain brewery.

Home away from home
Spacious and clean. Pictures don’t do it justice. Much bigger in person. The views were absolutely gorgeous. The facilities were wonderful, including the hot tub with a view. Multiple rooms for us to stretch out and relax. Getting up the driveway was a bit unnerving but we knew to expect it to some extent. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable couches. We didn’t get to see any bears sadly but we did find evidence of one visit left on the deck! Gatlinburg people traffic was agreeable and the whole stay was great. We will return to this cabin again, with out a doubt!

Great house with amazing views.
We came to Gatlinburg for the Christmas parade. Tim and Carol were wonderful hosts. They had everything we needed for our group of 8, they even accommodated our two Labradors. The house was decorated for Christmas and was very welcoming after spending the day in town. The kitchen was stocked better than any other cabin we have stayed in, they even had a crockpot. All of the bedrooms had extra pillows on the beds. The mattresses were comfortable. Enough towels and wash clothes were provided for our group. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved playing pool and having a TV to themselves in the game room. The driveway is steep but not impossible to get up, and had enough area to park two large SUVs without blocking in the cabin next door. We look forward to staying here again.
