About this house rental
Stay over the tides. Watch the sun rise across the water. Explore your private beach. Fish, crab, paddle or swim off the deck into Puget Sound. Hike off the property into old-growth Burton Woods. Bike the Burton loop. Walk 0.2 mile to Jensen’s Point for watercraft rentals. This is your off-the-road and over-the-ocean northwest island paradise. Please be sure to read the photo captions for helpful insights especially regarding our stairs access.
Our Oceanfront Eco Cottage is a rare solar-powered home built for two on pilings located on a private beach in Quartermaster Harbor on the Burton peninsula. A short walk down to the wrap-around deck will find you nestled in views and surrounded by wildlife.
Hear the water under you during high tide and beach comb the bounty of the Salish Sea during low tide. You will enjoy a large bay window with skylight over the water to the east, French doors that open onto the deck to the north, and a garden window to the south. The cottage sleeps up to four and features an organic mattress and linens. Chaise couch pulls out to a full size mattress in addition to the queen-size bed. The kitchen is fully equipped. We have a flat screen for use with dvd player and broadband wi-fi for high-speed internet access.
Our Oceanfront Eco Cottage is located on Vashon Island, where rural lifestyles (we don’t have any stop lights!) and natural wonders coexist a short ferry ride from urban pleasures in Seattle and Tacoma. Vashon Island hosts a vibrant arts community and many delights for the foodie (including May’s Kitchen, the best Thai in the region) and farm-fresh crowd. Vashon also has three vineyards, the historic Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie, and destination Lavender Hill Farm. Vashon’s downtown is a few miles from the cottage, though our Burton neighborhood market and excellent espresso stand are within biking or walking distance.
Beyond relaxing on the deck and playing in the water, you can enjoy the Island’s extensive nature trails and bird watching (Quartermaster Harbor is an Audubon hot spot), a local cinema and a plethora of artist studios, live theater and live music.

The house was absolute perfection. The view is magic and there are windows everywhere letting in so much light. The sun and the rain were equally enjoyable and I hope to visit again soon.
Thank you for the best weekend escape I have had!

We had a wonderful time here. Barron was helpful and the check in process was simple. The location is cozy and quiet, and we loved having the tide come up under the cottage. We would definitely stay here again.

Great little beachfront property. Small but clean. Expensive but quiet and peaceful. Definitely not for people with mobility issues.
Couch bed was difficult to open and I am very handy.
A bit overpriced but maybe off season is better?

This is a charming property that lives up to the reviews. We loved the location and the house was a perfect little oasis. Kitchen is well equipped to cook your meals every day. Host was very accommodating and communicative. Would definitely recommend and go back!

The cottage is cozy, lots of light, right on the water. I startled a deer as I went down the path and nature continued to show me her children, heron, eagle, seal, seagulls shopping for a meal. The kitchen is very well supplied. Quiet, beautiful location. You can stay at the cottage or tour the island. Either way is delightful.

This was our second stay at the eco cottage, both times to celebrate our summer wedding anniversary. This is the perfect spot to relax and connect, the scenery is breathtaking! The cottage has everything you need and is comfortable. We spent most waking hours on the deck or on the beach. Vashon island also has a lot to offer, hiking trails, beaches to explore, great coffee from the roasters. Host is friendly and easy to
Communicate with. We’ll be back again for sure!

Barron's home is so comfortable and the location is really perfect—right on the water, and the trails in the woods across the street were fun to explore, too. The weather was on the cold and windy side, but the home was so cozy that we didn't care.

This was exactly what we were looking for as a getaway!!! The host is awesome to communicate with. The property has amazing views and the island is so easy to navigate. The people are so nice and welcoming. Do not forget to see the TROLL, it is a sight to see. We will be keeping this on our list to return to. Thank you so much for allowing us into your beautiful home.

This cottage is something out of a dream. What an amazing experience we had! My husband and I are very grateful we were able to spend our anniversary weekend there. Reading on the deck, cooking dinner together, and sleeping in were some of our highlights. The space has everything you need and everything you don’t. It’s simple and serene. We have a big family and a busy life, this place was the perfect reminder to breathe, reflect, and take the time to be present and enjoy the people you love the most. Thank you Barron for your hospitality and kindness! We can’t wait to come back!

We rented the beach cottage for my sister's wedding weekend and it was the perfect spot for my wife and I to stay! Such a great location right "on" the water. I jumped in the sound every morning to wake up. The cabin is cozy but was great size for us. Bed was comfy and deck chairs per perfect for watching the Perseid meteor shower late into the night!

This property is wonderful!! We loved hanging out on the deck. It was especially endearing when the deer came to visit us. Accessible to town yet private and quiet! Perfect for our anniversary celebration ❤️

We had a relaxing vacation but it was too short. Barron's cabin is cozy, with all the amenities you could ask for. Thanks!

This place is magical. We were looking for a spot to unplug from the city for a while without having to travel far. We spent days cooking, exploring by foot, watching birds, seals, sea lions and other marine life, and of course drinking in the sun and the sea. The house was very well appointed, clean, comfortable, and had great beachy/waterfront vibes. Barron is an excellent host. He's kind, responsive, and seems genuinely grateful to share his special home by the harbor. We'll definitely be back—again and again.

When the tide comes in, it’s literally under the cabin. Looking over the deck railing we saw jellyfish and even a seal. There were deer all over the island. This is a great place to stay if you love nature.
Our host communicated everything we needed to know and was super friendly.
The cabin is beautifully kept. It’s a tiny little place, but comfortable. Be warned that there are no shades or blackout curtains and the cabin gets the morning sun. The bed was very comfortable and we slept with all the windows open. The couch was not kind to our backs, but there are a couple of nice, soft chairs.
We launched our kayaks at Jensens and paddled to the cabin where we were able to tie them to the bulkhead. Very handy.
We were there for the 4th of July. Phenomenal. We paddled the kayaks around the point and hooked ourselves to one of the buoys. The fireworks launched right across from us and we had a completely unobstructed view.
I had never been to Vashon Island before. Be prepared, it isn’t a tourist destination. There’s not a lot to do there. But like I said, the flora and fauna and spectacular.
Two things in closing: One - travel light. Those steps are not fun. My husband hurt his foot on the way there, so I was tasked with carrying all the luggage and supplies down. I’m no spring chicken, so it was hard work and took 4 trips. That’s a lot of stairs. And two - don’t buy coffee filters. There are enough coffee filters in the cabinet to last a year.

This is a small cozy home that has all the essentials. It is beautiful and airy feeling, well decorated with an incredible view. The stairs down to the home are equivalent to 2-3 flights of stairs but not discouraging for those of able body. It is close to town and the neighborhood is quiet and serene. I was lucky enough to have multiple visits from deer and harbor seals, which was a welcome treat.
The host was very friendly and communicative. Checking in and out was a breeze.

The cottage is tiny (under 500 sq ft) but is perfectly designed and feels roomy. Sleep literally over the water and relax on the sunny deck. This cottage offers a unique, almost spiritual experience.

Very peaceful , nice and clean, a great place to stay.

We would never have guessed that such a peaceful place existed only minutes from the hustle and bustle of mainland Washington State. Only a short ferry ride to Vashon Island and you can't hear a thing from airport or other mainland activities.
The house is a gem, located within the tidal zone and near very nice walking/hiking trails.
We are looking forward to our next visit!

The property is amazing! Charming decor, nicely appointed kitchen (I prepared several side dishes for Thanksgiving and found everything I needed!) beautiful setting, wildlife (seals and lots of bird species)just off the front deck, lovely views, very quiet and unlimited hot water! Yes, there are a number of steps but they're very well constructed with handrails for all but the top 6 which are very wide and easy to navigate, and good lighting and grippy treads.. Even with some knee/hip issues we were able to easily access the property. Our contact/owner was extremely welcoming and very communicative, available at all times for any questions or concerns. Altogether a delightful experience and we will certainly be booking again! We want to stay in the summer when the temps will be a bit warmer in the PNW!

We had a wonderful stay on Vashon island at the sweet cottage on the water. Very cute, clean and decorated with a serene personal touch. It had all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay. The lighting leading down the stairs to the house was very helpful.
Communication with Barron was accommodating and professional.
We are looking forward to returning to this cottage on Vashon Island.

I could not have been happier with my experience. When I opened the French doors of the cottage, it was like stepping into a dream. I came to the island to rest. Being beside the salt water and exploring only a fraction of the culture of the community was at once, enlivening and restorative. Barron was a clear communicator and an attentive, and gracious host. I’m looking forward to returning to this piece of heaven.

We loved our short stay in this spectacular location. Immaculately kept, incredible location and we picked fresh blackberries right from the yard. Only wish it was a longer trip.

This little cottage on the water is the most peaceful place we’ve ever stayed! Right on the water (literally during high tide) on an inner harbor of Vashon, this bungalow is the ultimate place for getting away from it all. Amazing shell exploring on the round rock beach during low tides and a wrap around deck over the water for high tide sightseeing. Occasionally a boat will pass bring small lapping waves to the shore and then it quiets back to stillness. It’s a bit surreal in its peaceful beauty. The stairs from the parking area will keep you in good shape so be aware of that. 😁 We are brainstorming more excuses to come back and enjoy this restful, romantic paradise!

a beautiful magical cabin
A very lovely place with an amazing water view! Very easy access to the beach - big bonus! Love the expansive deck where there’s a lot of room for sitting. The cabin was very clean with everything we needed. The pots and pans in the kitchen are very high quality which I enjoyed cooking with. We really enjoyed our stay! We even saw three deer twice around the property, very cool and unique experience. Quite a lot of clams in the morning when the tide was low. With how close the cabin is to the water, it didn’t feel too hot when it was 85 degrees because there was a cool breeze. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!! Thank you Barron for such a wonderful place and the great communication before and after our stay. We truly appreciate it!

Great spot
This cottage is perfect for a couple. Right on the water -- when we looked out the window in the morning, we felt like we were on a houseboat. Beautiful location! The kitchen was a bit better equipped than advertised -- there is a microwave. The grill worked great, and eating on the deck is idyllic. A terrific getaway.
