About this cabin rental
Fish, hike, bike, swim, canoe, eat S'mores and more at The Wascottage. Enjoy all the amenities and complete privacy at this hand hewn log cabin on 38 acres of forested land with 800 feet of lakeshore on pristine Spider Lake in Wascott, Wisconsin. There is a trail system within the property for easy access to hiking and biking. The wildlife on the property is amazing. You will see deer, turkeys, loons, geese, herons, eagles, trumpeter swans, ducks and the occassional badger. For ATV and snowmobile enthusiasts, Trail 41 is next to the property and connects to hundreds of miles of groomed trails. For those who love to fish, Spider Lake is a 100 acre private lake with very few anglers. Three pound bass and 6 pound northerns are not uncommon and the crappies are plentiful. A 20 foot pontoon with a 25 hp motor is provided as well as a kayak and paddleboat. Swimmers in the group will enjoy the shallow, easy access to the sandy-bottomed lake. As dinner approaches, you can either plan to go to a nearby restaurant or grill up some grub on the Weber and dine on the patio overlooking the lake. After dinner, head to the fire pit, build a fire and take in the shooting star show. Welcome to the Wascottage!

This place is amazing! It literally has everything you need minus your own clothing! I wanted a place to take my family for relaxation, fishing and family time.
Without a boat, it's hard to do the one thing I love to do, fish! The pontoon provided with the cabin is perfect for a family, especially with little ones.
The lake is quiet without a lot of people buzzing around on jet skis or motor boats. I was able to teach my grandkids (2yr & 5yr) how to fish. Plenty of pan fish for them to catch. Caught a couple of smaller pike and searched for the bigger guys, but no luck there.
The wildlife is amazing and with the cabin located off the beaten path, you get a lot of it. I've already asked to book again for next year!

beautifully maintained and appointed property. Private and serene. We had a great time. Walk to the lake and the boats, 30 acres with paths right outside the door. We really didn't have to travel anywhere to hike, fish, boat and bird watch. A relaxing vacation.

This is our 2nd stay at this cabin, and just like the 1st time, it was a wonderful experience. There is so much to do, not just within the cabin, from games to t.v, but on and off the property as well, i.e. boating, water activities, exploring the woods, local eat. My family looks forward to coming back!

Very secluded and private. The cabin is fully supplied, with multiple sleeping areas. Loved the deck. With the cabin came the use of a pontoon, kayak, canoe and paddle boat. Abundant wildlife. I taught my grandson to fish!
And the loons calling on the lake were mesmerizing.

Place was cleaner/nicer than expected (some cabins feel quite old). Nice views over the lake and use of the boat was a cool bonus. Saw a bear the first night!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! This is our 3rd time here and itâs still as great as ever! Views are amazing, we loved being able to use the pontoon, paddle boat, and kayak, and we even saw some wildlife. We love the privacy this property has to offer and being able to walk out the door to hiking trails is a plus. The cabin itself had everything we needed for a long weekend and everything was comfortable. The only thing to note, the upstairs bed is really hard.
We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed at the Wacottage for 5 nights. We arrived at about 3:00pm on a Thursday and left at 8:00am the following Tuesday. Upon arriving at the cottage we were greeted by 6-8 turkeys on the long secluded driveway. Those same turkeys along with 3-4 deer became a daily sight, usually multiple times per day! The cabin was perfectly cleaned when entering and had anything we could have asked for! We had some contact with Jared and Kari during our stay and that was easy and helpful as they were fantastic hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, other than the rain that came for 3.5 days. We teased ourselves that we brought an end to the summer long drought and left with almost a flood situation for the Wascott area. Our stay was awesome and we are thinking of doing it again next summer or fall. We highly recommend a stay at Jared and Kari's Wascottage!

Quiet place to recharge... Only hick up was the mouse that mess up the AC... But the owner got it fixed right away on the weekend. Such sweet people. So much wildlife to see just outside the window. Deer, turkeys, squirrels, ducks, loons, eagles.

This place is a wonderful getaway to recharge. This is our 2nd visit and we are already looking when we can come back. The cozy, clean cabin is perfectly set on a beautiful private property with trails and nestled in the corner of peaceful Spider lake. The owners are so welcoming and have thought of many special touches ( super soft towels and bedding, toiletries and welcoming cold Wisconsin beer in the fridge). We enjoyed the pontoon, pedal boat, fire pit and of course a few friendlyđ rounds of foosball. Thank you so much Dan and Suzy for sharing this gem. Until we visit again. Cheers!

We really enjoyed our stay. Very clean remote cabin with wildlife all around. Great hiking trails and scenic beauty. Awesome pontoon fishing boat was a real plus. Great fishing lake. We caught a number of 16" largmouth bass and tons of crappy bluegill and huge sunfish! Quiet peacefull area. Wonderfully hosts. Highly recommend a getaway here.

The Wascottage felt very homey and the property was beautiful. The view of the lake was amazing at any time of day, especially from the loft. Our only complaint is that we were not expecting to not have cell reception and the wifi router would not connect so we had no cell service at all.

The Wascottage on Spider Lake
Peaceful, clean and a lot to do in a secluded location. We had a great time at the Wascottage. Finding a place on a lake with a boat was great. The small 100 acre lake was super private, low key but the fishing was non-stop at almost all hrs of the day. Besides that the paddle boat, canoe and kayak leave lots of options for things to do on the water. Also a great firepit for the smores in the evening. Inside the cabin was clean, and having some modern conveniences like satellite TV, plenty of host provided DVD's, fooseball table, A/C, was a blessing for the few rainy days we encountered. Also nearby state parks, and even a day-trip to Duluth MN was nice todo's based on this location. Highly recommend, thanks to the host for putting up with us.

A perfectly peaceful family weekend
Wascottage seems too good be true for the price- a spacious cabin, lake access with pontoon, paddle boat and canoes and a beautiful setting. The reality is this that this property is truly amazingâŚserene, peaceful, a lovely cabin perfect for families, and plenty of amenities. This was our second stay and we booking again. You can enjoy a quiet day hiking or fishing on the lake, or visit the beautiful state parks in easy driving distance. I highly recommend Pattison State Park and Amnicon Falls. The sunrises at the cabin are worth getting up early for and Susie and Don are amazing hosts. Donât pass Wascottage up :)

Fantastic!
What a beautifully designed and comfortable cabin! We had everything we needed. Although the weather wasnât the best, the view was wonderful, the bird songs were refreshing, and we enjoyed our time playing games downstairs. The next time we come we want to take advantage of the canoe.
If you are like us and it has been a while since youâve been in tick territory, donât forget to do a thorough tick check after being outside.

Frozen Magic
This was the perfect destination for a winter getaway. The cabin was incredibly well maintained and tastefully decorated. The frozen lake, snow, and dozens of deer were an excellent backdrop. This was an ideal base for exploring northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. We did many day trips, returning to the peace of the cabin nightly. Kudos to Dan and Suzy for being such responsive and caring hosts.

Weekend getaway
A great property for our couples getaway. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The pontoon was a great addition, it provided a great way to get round the quiet lake and do some fishing. We did some walking on the trails and even saw lots of deer and turkey. Everything is so peaceful, makes a great place to unwind and relax! We will definitely be back!

Secluded cabin with a view
The woods, the lake, the wildlife - we enjoyed it all. We could hear loons calling, owls hooting, and coyotes howling. We shared the property with deer and turkeys. The cabin has been kept in excellent condition with everything in working order and well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the use of the pontoon boat and the campfire patio, and were amazed the amount of stars we could see. We could even see the Milky Way. The cabin is located near state parks with waterfalls, Lake Superior, Hayward, and Superior and Duluth. It all added up to a perfect family vacation.

Relaxing Getaway
First thing, we get out of our vehicle and are greeted by the sound of loons. We are avid birdwatchers so this was a treat. When we finally went inside the cabin it was spotless. The morning sunrises are beautiful over the lake. Lots of things to do around the area. Can't wait to stay there again!

Log Cabin Treasure
Well supplied kitchen, and plenty of towels.
We enjoyed the character and beauty of the logs * watching the pair of loons and baby off the dock * pontoon rides * fishing * campfires * great grill and having dinner on the deck.
We saw deer and wild turkeys on our walk to the road.
Golf and good restaurants close by.
We truly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the north woods.
