I stayed here for a few days with friends and their two tweens - the adults had some work to do (wedding planning!) and the kids are bottomless wells of creativity and energy, and we allll love food- Kathy's lovely family home had exactly what we needed! The kids cycled through water sports, fishing, RC boats (thank you for that!), badminton, board games and more while we adults joined for the occasional kayak.
We preferred the excellent grill to the elderly electric stove for meals. The kitchen was well equipped with good pans, grill tools, anything we needed. We were met with a welcome gift of the most delicious cinnamon bread... ever?
The entire place was spotless! It's an older property right on a lake, though, and i think a couple of air purifiers would help with some mustiness in a few places where even the most diligent cleaning can't reach.
Beds were comfy, nights were quiet except for crickets, and it was cool enough that we could just keep the windows open for the lovely breeze. We slept well, enjoyed our days (that sunporch is a dream) and would love to stay again.

Stayed here for a few nights for a family get together with my siblings. We're all grown, but still kids at heart, so it was very fun to find this place stocked with board games and kayaks and all sorts of things to do. The hostesses, Kathy and Sue, had all sorts of helpful information in a guide book. It was very sweet, I could tell that they really cared about making us feel welcome. I feel like my family and I stayed at a home and I couldn't have asked for more!

The property was well maintained and convenient to Rhinebeck and a short drive to Woodstock.

Close enough to rhinebeck (20min) to pick up family members from NYC. Great for outdoor activities such as light kayaking, biking on rail trails and over the hudson, walking around Opus 40 and plenty of antiquing and brewery stops

We had a wonderful time staying here. The weather was clear so we were able to enjoy the kayaking and swimming off the dock. Quiet property and had a lovely time.

We came up from TN for our nephew's wedding & this house was in the perfect spot for our stay. We had 1 small issue with the door lock which was addressed within minutes by Kathy. The only thing I was upset about was I forgot my fishing gear! If we ever get back to this area this will be the 1st place we look for.

Where to begin. My sister-in-law and I (both seniors) were so pleasantly surprised with this lovely home. Lake Katrine was like a vacation at home, away from home. The house sits on a beautiful lake and our hostess was the best. There was a loaf of cinnamon bread and a dozen eggs waiting for us when we arrived. There is pretty much everything you could need at the house for any age group. The kitchen is well stock with anything you could need to cook there. Appliances, pots, pans and dishware. There are board games, hula hoops, a foosball game, canoes, kayaks and a peddle boat (life jackets are provided). There was a crib and highchair, books for all ages along with games for toddlers to adults. The location is 1/2 mile in from the main road on a dead end street so there is a lot of privacy. So much to do in the area. We found great local towns to visit (Woodstock, Kingston and Saugerties), wineries and antique shops. A highlight was dinner at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. Reservations are a must. Kathy, our hostess, was available when needed but not at all intrusive. It was one of the very best vacation spots we have had the fortune to visit.

Perfect property for us. Plenty of room, kayaks, canoes and tons of indoor and outdoor games available. So many hikes and little towns to explore nearby. My teenage daughter loved kayaking Lake Katrine over to the waterfall, it’s hard to get teens doing things outdoors sometimes, but not here. Kathy stopped by briefly to make sure we were doing well, we were. She was friendly and accommodating. We felt very at home. Would stay here again.

The house is just as described: very clean, comfortable, well decorated and had everything we could have needed. We visited several nearby towns and enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Culinary Institute of America. An eagle fished in the creek several times and a paddle in the kayak was perfect on a warm afternoon. Kathy thought of everything. Thank you for an enjoyable weekend with friends!

This was our second year here. It's comfortable and there are so many things to do. We still have more to see in this area. Kathy is a wonderful host.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Relaxing getaway
Beautiful setting. Kathy and Sue thought of everything to make our stay easy and stress free. Kathy even checked on us during a bad storm one night to make sure we knew where flashlights were in case we lost power (we didn’t). Good fishing right off the dock, the kids loved the water and it was close to everything we wanted to do.

Beautiful getaway for my bachelorette weekend
What a lovely place! Kathy was so welcoming and added some thoughtful touches to our visit, including delicious cinnamon bread from Bread Alone bakery. Delish! We loved taking the kayaks on the Esophus for a paddle. The porch was a perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back!

Lake Katrine stay was amazing!!
The property was just as described with so many extras. It was very peaceful and quiet but so much to do. We used the kayaks several times and the tubes on the water. Played corn hole a lot! Host we very responsive in a very positive manner. Was just a GREAT "staycation". Will go back again.

Wonderful Property!!
This was wonderful! The back yard was manicured and huge, big enough to play Bocci. The peddle boat was fun, and the kids fished from the dock. The house has foosball and lots of games to keep kids happy. The house isn't air conditioned (there are window units in the bedrooms) but we didn't need it even though it was 89 one day. The house is comfortable and kid friendly. There's so much available to do, although we stayed close because of the pandemic. We did hike and there are lots of options. We will definitely go back!!

Wonderful
We rented for a month and this property was exactly as described. It felt like a very well cared for home. Kathy was available to us, from recommendations for restaurants to walking trails.
The river access and water “toys” made this the perfect vacation for people of all ages. I would definitely recommend this property.

Super comfortable for whole family
The hosts really thought of everything to make guests comfortable. My kids loved being on the water and having access to the paddle boat especially. We adults appreciated all of the thoughtfulness the hosts put into our stay (comfortable beds, updated linens, toys and games available, fresh eggs in the fridge, etc). We also appreciated that they included recommendations for local restaurants and activities. Overall, a cozy and well-appointed house! Would love to come back!

Great for our family!
We chose this property based on proximity to my aunt and uncle who lived nearby in Rosendale. Unfortunately we arrived on an unseasonably hot day but the bedroom air conditioners soon cooled down the bedrooms so we could sleep. In the morning the house was cool and stayed that way for the rest of our visit. The beds were comfortable, linens very nice and the kitchen had everything you could possibly want to whip up a meal for a family. Unfortunately we did not have any time to enjoy the kayaks, but I loved the beautiful view of the water in the morning. We also appreciated the fresh eggs and the cinnamon twist bread our host left us. I highly recommend this house for any family visiting the area.

Great House
Stayed with my Wife and kids, we had a great time. The house was incredibly clean and well maintained. Lovely homely touches all over the place. The property itself was great with good access to local towns of interest. The drive through the neighborhood to get to the house is pretty run down, but the house itself is great and very peaceful.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway!!
This house is near the end of a dead-end road on the edge of a large creek. There are people around, but there is definitely no traffic and and is SO quiet and peaceful (with the constant sound of flowing water as a soothing background). There are restaurants about a mile away, though, and Kingston is only about 15 minutes; so it's not like it's completely isolated though.
There were lovely spaces outdoors to sit, but there was also an enclosed porch for a little more warmth and protection from weather if need be (and it still overlooked the water). There were labels and instructions around so we were never unsure of how to turn on a light or where to find things.
We did not have children with us, but there were yard games, toddler toys, and an indoor game room with a foosball table and darts so I feel like this would be a great place to stay with kids.
My friends and I had a lovely time and would definitely stay here again for a quiet weekend getaway!

Great time
This was a great rental in a great location. Minutes from a bunch of different towns and restaurants. The house was clean. We loved the free eggs in the refrigerator and the cookies and tea on the table. Very thoughtful owners!

Lovely spot!
My husband and I stayed for the weekend to celebrate his 50th birthday. The house is homey and spotless. Kathy couldn't have been nicer. She left us fresh eggs and a pastry. We spent each late afternoon/early evening sitting down by the water with a glass of wine. Just the getaway we needed!

Lovely escape from NYC!
We just stayed at Kathy and Sue’s house and it was the perfect antidote to the pandemic. We had space and nature and went boating and hiking every day (there are three kayaks and a canoe). The house was immaculate and well-appointed, with toiletries and signs on everything. My almost 10 year old son loved sitting on the dock, looking out at the water.
My favorite spot in the house was the sun porch. It is enclosed and very bright, allowing me to work or take calls, while looking at the creek.
We grilled at night and ate meals outside. We were enjoying the house so much that I texted Kathy to stay an additional night - I’ve never done that! We look forward to visiting again!

Home Away from Home
Felt like home, warm and comfy. A welcoming card, with fresh eggs and a local bakery cinnamon bread for breakfast already there.
Communication was easy and the owners responded promptly. We didn't get to enjoy the lakefront location's amenities, but certainly did the view!

Esopus Creek House
House was great! Well supplied and so clean. Great view of the water and waterfalls. Convenient to sightseeing and shopping. Only negative was that it was over 90 degrees every day thanks to mother nature.

Lovely, extremely clean, comfortable home with beautiful view of creek. Close to great nature walks and hiking. Kayaks were much appreciated as the creek is a great place to explore. Bliss on the Lake!
Wow! This place was just wonderful! There is nothing that the hosts did not think of to make your stay perfect! From the farm fresh eggs to a closet full of fun outdoor games to play-no one should ever get bored here! We took my husband for a belated father's day weekend and we had such great family time together. We took out the kayaks and the canoe, played badminton and corn hole during the day, and used some of their extensive array of board games at night. We loved having breakfast in the sunroom overlooking the lake. We would definitely go back again!

Great Getaway!
Kathy and Sue were so easy to deal with and so accommodating, with answering questions, early/late check in and out, etc.
The house was lovely and had so many nice homey touches.
The lake is right on the property and the 3 kayaks, canoe, pedal boat and tube gave everyone options for water activities. The fire pit , with wood, allowed us to make a bonfire.
The house was stocked with games and everything that one might need for their stay.
I would definitely recommend renting this property and anything from these ladies!

Beautiful setting
Stayed the weekend for a family wedding. Found everything we needed. The setting is fabulous. The house was well kept and charming. Had three generations for the stay and we all thoroughly enjoyed the row boat, pedal boat and even put the fishing pole in the water. Darn didn’t catch anything though.
Would have loved to spend more time

Comfortable house with plenty to do at the property and in the area
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. It was very comfortable with lots of games on hand including a foosball table which my family loved! Use of the canoe, kayaks and peddle boat were also a favorite activity during the day and we enjoyed the fire pit at night. There is so much to do in the area that we stayed busy the entire time! Opus 40 was spectacular and the hikes to a waterfall swimming hole and the Big Deep were great, too! We will definitely be returning to the area and, most likely, will ask Kathy and Sue if we can stay in their home again. We were very pleased with the entire experience.

Great location on the creek
Well maintained home on the Esopus Creek. Close to everything. House had almost everything you could need in it and outside of it. I only wish that they had not opened the flood gates at the reservoir that week. Swimming/fishing/boating was more limited because of that. The road to get in to the little area where this house sits is not the prettiest, but once down the hill, it is great.
