About this cabin rental
Our 4-bedroom A-frame offers an exceptional view of Lake Darling. You will feel like you are on the water as you gaze out the lakeside windows. This home is as close to the water as you can get. There are beds to sleep up to 8 plus a queen sleeper sofa and two single sleeper sofas for a sleeping capacity of 12. Three tiers of decks provide a wonderful, relaxing hangout. The property includes 900 feet of lakeshore that goes all the way to the channel connecting Lake Darling to Lake Cowdry. The property also includes a double garage and a fish cleaning room attached to the garage.
Lake Darling is the third largest of the eleven lakes that make up Alexandria's Chain of Lakes. On the Chain, you can spend the whole day on the water.
Lake Carlos State Park is just minutes away. This beautiful park offers fishing, volleyball, swimming, and miles of hiking trails.
Bring your bicycle because access to the Central Lakes Trail is less than one mile away. This trail stretches 55 miles from Fergus Falls to Osakis and then connects with the Lake Wobegon Trail. These trails are built on an old railroad bed, so the grade is easy for walking, pedaling a bicycle, or rollerblading.
Our base fee covers 6 people. There is an additional charge for more than 6. The maximum occupancy is 12.

We appreciated the layout of the house. With 3 different levels, it afforded privacy, yet had a comfortable living room where we could gather. We especially enjoyed the decks and having the dock so close, with a nice boat lift. The lake is very clear, sandy bottom, we could watch the young ones from the deck. Although there isn’t a sandy beach, it is such a nice dock area with a short 3 steps into shallow water for swimming. Fishing was outstanding! Only drawback is the front of the house is off a busy county road.

Great place right on the water. Close to Carlos winery and brewery, golf and pickle ball courts. Rented a pontoon nearby.

We (11 of us) had a great time at this property on Lake Darling. We caught sunfish off of the dock, the kids enjoyed playing in the water around the dock. We rented a pontoon from Lake Darling Resort, grilled, had a couple campfires. Weather was great as well. The only downsize is the busy road that the property is located on, could hear the traffic, but we spent all of our time on the lake side.

We enjoyed our stay in this property very much. We loved the location, which is very close to Alexandria and to a wonderful nature trail. The house is right on the lake, so the views were amazing from all three decks! We did notify the owners that the two twin beds on the top floor needed new mattresses, so hopefully that will be addressed. Otherwise, everything was great!

Beautiful views of lake with nice and varied seating options to enjoy. Comfortable layout with multiple sleeping options and convenient access to surrounding attractions. Clean. Host was friendly and easy to work with. Two thumbs up!

Nice place, good location to all Alexandria has to offer !

Myself and a few friends stayed here. There was so much room for us to spread out and everything we needed was available. Would be a great place and ample room if our kids were to come with as well. The owners were very responsive to questions. We would absolutely stay here again.

A nice clean home, just the right size, on the shore of beautiful Lake Darling.

Great!

Plenty of room for all of us. We really enjoyed the multiple decks and proximity to the lake. Alexandria itself has many places for family activities and places to explore. We will be back!

Cabin was perfectly clean and well stocked. We especially love the two decks at water’s edge. Plenty of space to spread out on three levels. Lake Darling is our go-to lake in Alex.

Two couples stayed at this location for a wedding being held at Carlos Creek Winery. The location of the property is excellent. It was an easy drive into town and to the winery
We didn’t go out on the lake but the property has a great dock that would work great for a boat or fishing off the end of it.
The home is remodeled but a little dated. Air conditioners are window units. The kitchen has a lot of dishes and glassware but plan to bring your own condiments if cooking or grilling.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The property was just as described and has beautiful views of the lake. The place sleeps 6 adults and 2 kids comfortably. We had a nice week weather wise and the dual level decks seated our family gathering of 14 people nicely. Road noise is pronounced, but otherwise the property was perfect for our group. The lake shore is a nice sandy bottom, but there were weeds (as is more common on the chain of lakes these days). We enjoyed fishing, and taking the rental pontoon out to the sandbar between big and little darling to swim.

Our week was almost perfect! The house was lovely, a perfect fit for my parents, my family with 2 teens, and my brother's family with 2 kids. The three decks were enjoyed by all for eating, sunbathing, reading, playing games, & relaxing. The lake had great fishing, the channel close by was fun to both fish in and tube & kayak down. The water was so clear, although quite weedy. It was really great being so close to the running/ bike trail (.2 miles away), a set of mountain bike trails with a great playground and beach (2 miles down the trail), the channel connecting to the next lake, & close to town as well. The road next to the house was busy but it didn't affect us. The owners were very detailed and helpful, but we didn't have much need for them, the house was set for us. The dock was really nice with the boatlift & chairs to relax on. The kids missed a sandy beach but still had fun in the water. Although it was weedy, it wasn't mucky it gross. The fish house was a plus to clean all the fish we caught.

Nice cabin. Good to go! Third level deck unexpected surprise. Comfortable. Good for six people.

This was our second time staying at this cabin. It’s a wonderful location right on the lake. It’s also close to town, bike paths and the winery. We sat outside every night on the deck for dinner…the view can’t be beat! Both inside and outside are very well kept. We really love staying here and hope to come back soon!

Loved everything but the cookware. I would bring a few quality fry pans and some plastic storage containers for leftovers if you enjoy cooking. Dock and decks all excellent. Timely response by owner. Love this place.

My family enjoyed our stay! We loved it! The house had plenty of sleeping space and bathrooms it has almost everything you need except for a grill, canoes or kayaks. Everything is close, grocery, gift stores, restaurants etc…
We went fishing to different lakes. Got lots of fishes so we had a great dinner on Saturday night. I would recommend it to big families like mine ☺️

This property is well represented on the listing. We liked being so close to the water and exploring the chain of lakes. We also appreciated use of the boat lift.

The lake home was just as described. Pretty much everything you need is available in the house. It’s just on the edge of town if you forget something or need some groceries. The house is on a busy road but you don’t notice it too much on the lake side of the house. It had plenty of room for our family of five, my parents and an extra guest. The dock is perfect to fish off of or just relax and enjoy the view. Connie was quick to reply to all of my messages. I highly recommend this vacation home.

Family Week
We loved the house, perfect with three levels - one for each family. Separate bedrooms for parents and the children is ideal. Loved the separate bathrooms. Main floor and kitchen worked well for hanging out and dining. The decor is inviting, and everything is high quality. We all liked the three patio areas with multiple tables and chairs, plus the chairs on the dock. Also, we enjoyed the grill and fire pit. Parking for four vehicles was good. There were a few issues for our particular group: No railings on the right side of stairs for my elderly husband and the children; the house is on a busy highway which is difficult with little ones; and we hoped for a swimming area without weeds. We worked around these problems and enjoyed an absolutely wonderful family vacation.

Great week on Lake Darling
Having grown up on Lake Darling, it was great reconnecting with friends and enjoying the lake. This home is comfortable and the decks make for great eating and hanging out space. The beach on this side of the lake is not great for kids swimming but there are public beaches nearby. Our 6 year old caught lots of sunnies and a 20” Northern off the dock. This was our second year staying at this property and will likely be back.
