This was such a cute and quaint place located right next to the beach. We had such relaxing and fun time crafting and meditation at the house. Then Umbridge able to walk to the beach made everything even better. The only down side is there is no dish washer but everything else was great.

We enjoyed our stay at this classic beach house—minutes to Horseneck Beach and a refreshing outdoor shower. The property was clean and comfortable for our family of three. Paul is wonderful! He provided info on the area prior to our arrival. We look forward to being back!

Thanks to the excellent host Paul for having us and accommodating our needs and vacation in flux due to a hurricane and tropical storm. House was super cozy and comfy with everything you need to cook or just relax. Loved how each room had a theme and everything was beachy and perfect. Short walk to the amazing horseneck beach. Outdoor shower was great and they provided all kinds of beach chairs and towels. We will def be back with hopefully better weather!

Enjoyed every moment at “The Deacon.” All of the comforts of home plus beautiful beach access just a short walk away. Could not have asked for a more stress-free and relaxing vacation. Hope to return in the future.

My wife and I think this may have been our most enjoyable vacation we can remember and a lot of that was due to the accommodations Paul provided. Paul was so incredibly gracious and welcoming throughout. I could tell he genuinely wanted us to have a great time. On arrival the place was spotlessly clean and as advertised. The manual provided was very informative. This allowed us to settle in easily and be right on the beach which is a couple hundred yards away. The walk is on one road that has almost zero cars and over a short dune area. The beach is beautiful. Wide open water, sand for a mile or two in each direction. My wife jogged the beach every morning and I swam every day. The bike path also starts right here and is really nice. Throughout the week at the house we were incredibly comfortable. The HVAC system is perfect. I watched playoff baseball most nights on the 70 inch or so TV while plopped on the couch. Back Eddy is a short walk down the road for dinner or a drink which we did on Saturday night.
Also my in laws came for two days and nights and were really impressed by the place and were very comfortable. We spent one day at the beach and one day touring local farms.
The house, the location are really hard to beat.
Can't recommend Paul enough as a host.

This was our second stay at The Deacon and it was just as great as the first stay. Everything we could need was there. The property is very clean and is very well maintained. The outdoor shower is amazing and we love being able to walk to the beach. It was perfect for our family and our toddler loved it as well! While it is easily close enough for us to all walk to the beach, there was a wagon available which came in very handy for those little tired legs to hitch a ride. We stayed in mid-September and visited some local farms for produce and apple picking on the non-beach weather days. We love it here!

First and foremost, Paul is an exceptional host! He truly goes the extra mile for his guests. All questions were answered promptly, and I had a bunch. I asked about a blender and was told there wasn’t one. No problem, I’ll bring one. A few weeks later Paul texted me to let me there is indeed a blender in the house. I don’t know if he bought one for us or not, but it worked great for Margaritas on the beautiful deck! A week after we left, I got text from Paul asking if I left clothes in the house. I didn’t think I did, but when I checked, sure enough I’m missing some stuff (I really thought I triple checked). Paul is sending them to me. I doubt most hosts would go through that trouble; he could have just tossed the stuff.
The Deacon is adorably decorated in fun and whimsical beach theme. Original paintings by Tina adorn all the rooms and are sure to inspire conversations and a smile. Their home is beautiful and well appointed with everything you could possibly need. I like to cook, and I was as comfortable in their kitchen as I am at home. On that note, they are about 15 minutes from Lee’s Market where you’ll find excellent meat, produce, bakery, and beer/wine/spirits. Right down the road from there is fish market for your fresh fish and clams. The home is small, but the layout makes it feel huge. My husband & I, 2 adult sons, their SO’s, and my granddaughter had plenty of room and we never felt cramped. The queen room fit a pack n’play snuggly. The outdoor shower was fantastic! I overpacked! Beach toys? Yep. Chairs? Yes. Boogie boards? They got ‘em. Umbrella? Got that too. My granddaughter loved the little red wagon to go to the beach or for rides up and down the quiet street.
Five-minute walk to the beach. Bring your bikes for miles of beautiful bike trails along the cost. Five-minute walk to the Back Eddy for dinner (make reservations), short drive to The Bayside for a nice outdoor bar and great food. They don’t take reservations, so either wait, hit it right, or better yet - bike there early for lunch.
The Deacon is short drive to Newport, RI; Battleship Cove in Fall River, my granddaughter loved the zoo in Providence, RI, and my son and his GF even drove to the Cape to rent jet skis one day.
This is the place for a quiet beach vacation. This is not a honky-tonk tourist trap, there are no loud bars, or cheap tee-shirt stores. We had a fabulous family vacation! Thank you, Paul & Tina!

Our time at the Deacon was the perfect summer beach vacation for my family and I (Wife and 3 girls aged 9, 7, and 3). The house was just the right fit for us and our girls loved the bunk room and all of the wonderful and fun decor and paintings (many of which are done by Paul's wife Tina). From the get go, Paul was easy to reach, quickly answered all of our many questions, and made use feel confident before even stepping into the house that this was going to be a great vacation.
While at the home, the walk to the beach was easy for the kids to make while also helping to carry the provided chairs and sand toys for a day at the beach. The outdoor shower was also amazing, and I never once showered in the house. Even though we did not have the best weather, the home layout was great for us to be able to play family games at the table together, or break out into our own separate spaces to read or watch tv or a movie on one of the 4 tv's throughout the house. Moreover while there were a few minor glitches, Paul was more than helpful in getting things squared away in a timely and complete manner. He was easily reached and followed up to ensure that things were squared away. In all the properties we have stayed in over the years, never have we had such fast and efficient communication with the property owner/manager. More than that, having had the chance to meet with Paul in person and chat, he is truly a great quy!
Having spent all my life coming to Westport for summer family vacations, this was one of the best summers and houses we have stayed in. This year marked my family vacationing in this area for 90 years with 4 generations represented, and I am hopeful that we can stay at the Deacon in the future to keep this wonderful family tradition going!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Deacon! The house was clean and had everything we could possibly need including a fully stocked kitchen, linens, beach chairs and beach toys. Paul and Tina were wonderful hosts, very responsive and they have a great attention to detail and art. Our favorite features were the outdoor shower and access to the walking/biking trail along the beach. The home, property, and neighborhood were very family and child friendly. We look forward to coming back!

My 2nd stay at this property and it was great. House is perfect for a beach vacation - including beach chairs and towels. Kitchen has all the tools you need for meal preparation. Beds are comfortable, clean linens and plenty of pillows - new main bedroom and laundry was a big bonus. Outdoor shower is great, roomy with hot and cold water. Nice outdoor setup with deck, grill and tables and chairs. This property and neighbors do spray for mosquitoes but they are still around and aggressive - bring bug spray. Aside from the bugs, very nice to enjoy relaxing and eating outside.
