This is very much a cottage but well equipped and you can’t beat the location. It is about a 15 walk to Atlantic Ave and a publix and Walgreens is 2 minutes walking. There is also a great French bakery and Bedners store (local vegetables, meats etc) within a short walk. The cottage itself is rustic but has a large fenced yard which was great for our dog. The kitchen has new appliances and is very well equipped. As we were there for 45 days we tended to cook and BBQ a lot. The bedroom is small but has a queen sized bed with a new and comfortable mattress. We left 2 good pillows that we bought for the next guests. It was good value for the money paid as you will pay significantly more for a newer higher end property.

Booking and communication with host were very good. Fenced yard for dogs good except at front fence needed a chair with no fence stile. Best for only 2 people. God location.

Perfect quaint cottage in a fabulous location
We had a great couple of weeks escaping the New England winter weather! The cottage is charming and very well appointed. The area cannot be beat. Quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the Avenue filled with so many great restaurants! Kay, the owner/host was a pleasure. We hope to return to this cottage next time we visit Delray Beach.

Great cottage, perfect location
We had the best time! The house was roomy and the kitchen was well-stocked. Our dog loved the backyard (as did we) with it’s beautiful tropical feel. Walking distance to the beach and Atlantic Ave, the farmers’ market, and so much more. The owner, Kay, was a pleasure to deal with. We highly recommend this property.

We enjoy this lovely cottage so much we keep returning. The cottage is a perfect combination of old Florida and modern amenities and conveniences. The location is close to the beach, Atlantic Ave and all the restaurants and shops there AND wonderful food markets. You can walk, bike or take the Delray Downtowner. The backyard has beautiful banyan trees in a natural landscape. We enjoy eating out and also cooking in the well-appointed kitchen and eating outside on the deck. The owner is incredibly nice and will help solve any problem or need that comes up. She wants you to enjoy your visit! This Florida cottage is a great choice of a place to stay in Delray Beach and we hear even summers in Delray are great!

Charming cottage; great location; gracious owner
I spent two happy, contented months (Nov/Dec) in this lovely cottage. Wooden floors, french doors, a working fireplace, high beamed ceiling, wonderful kitchen, and tv(s), kitchen/laundry appliances and air-conditioning that all worked perfectly. Fully appointed (bed linens, pots/pans, dishes, etc.). Quiet block, friendly neighbors, and "town" and beach at your toe-tips. Pretty bougainvillea abound. And the owner is one of the kindest people I've come across in a long time. Enjoy!

tropical oasis in the heart of Delray
We thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay. If you are looking for a peaceful tropical setting to have your morning coffee or read a book this is the place. It is an original Delray type cottage updated but still lots of quaint features. It is easy maintenance and has good appliances. Easy access to everything ,we took the downtowner often in the evening for supper ,just sooo convenient. The owner and property manager are wonderful to deal with any little thing was taken care of immediately. We hated to leave.A great couples getaway but good for children as well. We walked a couple blocks to the intercoastal late afternoon sat on the bench provided and watched the boats go by.

A little gem in Delray Beach
A great location!! We were in the process of relocating, so the amenities were appreciated and nothing was overlooked. This lovely cottage located on a quite street was so close to Atlantic Avenue (3.5 blocks) and the beach (~8 blocks), that we walked everywhere. There are also free shuttles along Atlantic, and if needed, we saw "free" open air taxis occasionally drive up and down the street in front of the house carrying riders. But about every need is within walking distance (restaurants, Publix grocery store, a drug store, and a great putt-putt course our kids loved). The owner was very accommodating, immediately responding to our questions and needs...an absolute pleasure!

Charming cottage, great owner
We rented this cottage for three months this year. The location is wonderful. Our favorite thing was walking to any of the many restaurants on Atlantic Avenue. Delray Beach has so many wonderful activities and you can reach them easily from this cottage. There are three wonderful wildlife refuges nearby and we spent a lot of time at these just walking and looking at the birds. The photos of the property are accurate. The purple bougainvillea in front of the house is grogeous and the backyard is filled with trees and other tropical plants. Our dog loved running around chasing her tennis balls. We had never used vrbo before. and even though some close friends had checked out the location we were nervous renting from so far away. The owner met us at the property and showed us how to work everything and even assisted with the computer connection . Everything was in good working order and any minor problems we had were quickly corrected by either the property manager, who lives nearby, or the owner herself. The security deposit was returned promptly. It was a thoroughly relaxing and wonderful three months escaping the Chicago winters. We loved it so much we rented it for next year before we left.

Wonderful Cottage in a Great Location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy, convenient cottage. The photos did not do the house justice. We walked in to find a spic and span and nicely decorated beach house that was well-equipped and most of the appliances were new. The view from the back deck was awesome, a tropical paradise. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
The location was great. We were only three blocks to all the Atlantic Avenue activities, wonderful outdoor cafes and shops. There was a grocery store and drug store within walking distance (2 blocks) so everything was within easy reach. The beach was about 8 blocks away and many days we just walked to the beach, having breakfast in one of the cafes on the way.
There is also a shuttle bus in Delray that goes to the beach and to the restaurants and clubs. We just walked three blocks and were in easy access to the beach and to restaurants. I didn't have to worry about parking or having a glass of wine and driving home. It was great!
The owner was exceptionally helpful and pleasant to work with. I definitely plan to come back.

Memorable stay, just what we wanted
I just recently checked to see if the lovely cottage in Delray that we stayed in 6 years ago was still listed for rent. My wife, dog, and myself saw the cottage during a trip to visit my father. At the time it was not on the VRBO. I am writing this review now because I was shocked to see the terrible review left by a former renter. Our experience was anything BUT what they claim.
We rented the cottage for three months starting January 1. When the three months were up and it was time to leave, we were quite sad to say goodbye to both the cottage and to Delray Beach. At that time, the owner had done an extensive remake of the cottage, and we found the entire place to our liking. I can see from the pictures that the interior looks as lovely as we remember it, and the outside has been enhanced by new plantings.
We found everything at the cottage to be to our liking. Indeed, the bedroom is a converted former porch, but it has been totally enclosed and is a true bedroom. The backyard has a wonderful wooden deck and barbecue, and it leads out onto a true tropical landscape. The air conditioner is also a heater and being centrally located in this cottage is absolutely sufficient for the entire interior. We also appreciated the full size washer and dryer, and yes, it was in the bathroom - no problem there.
The heart of downtown Delray is literally a few city blocks west, and is a great and vibrant downtown which I wouldn't mind calling my home town. However the street that the cottage is on is absolutely quiet and populated by private homes. There is a Publix and Walgreens not more than two short blocks north and the intracoastal is two blocks east. The Atlantic Ocean is accessible only a few minutes walk away and it is a beautiful stretch of beach with a handful of restaurants (Luna Rosa was our go-to place) within feet of the beach.
The owner was very accommodating, providing an additional desk because at the time that we stayed my wife was still working, telecommuting, and she had a magnificent place to call her office - that desk next to the kitchen and facing out onto the backyard. We would take walks along the beach early in the morning as she was working her west coast hours and our mornings were free.
In summary, I cannot express more strongly how pleasant the stay and the cottage and life there was. I am still quite dismayed that some recent renters found so much fault, that I doubt that there is much truth to their story.

Charming Bungalow
We arrived on 4/1/12 and stayed a month while throughly enjoying our time at this charming bungalow with renovated kitchen. Delray is such a great place and this home was perfect for the month. What a great location, we practically walked everywhere! And if you perfer not to walk, call the Delray Downtowner for a free ride, you just have to tip the driver. Some of our favorite places were Cafe Luna Rosa on the beach and Deck 84 on the Intracostal Waterway, not to mention all of the activities on the Avenue. I have to say after reading the rude review below that they must have been in a different home from the one we were in. The air conditioner certainly kept the home well below 78 degrees, seeing as we had it set at 68 for the entire stay. When arriving it was turned off, and took about an hour or so to cool the entire home. We did not have any problems with any of the appliances, and cooked a great deal while doing many loads of laundry (the washer and dryer were nearly brand new). The bedroom is small, but was fine for sleeping, and I can assure you that we were not bitten by any bugs while sleeping or otherwise (I would not have remained for a month), believe me. The owner was very accomodating and took care of any issues that we had immediately, we would definitely rent the home again.

Picture perfect
What a wonderful experience! It was such a pleasure to be able to stay in the solitude and quiet of a perfectly appointed and clean little cottage. It needed absolutely nothing to be a better vacation, and so close to the Delray Beach downtown that you still miss none of the life of the township. I stayed a month and would have remained if there was availability! I would not hesitate to return for a much longer period. Thank you so much!!!

Don't rent this pesthole
Dishwasher broken, garbage still in the garbage can under the sink. Place so dirty that we had to have it cleaned. Bedding was used. Some sort of bug in the house that bites and leaves red bumps. Air conditioning needs repair; won't cool below 78 degrees during the day,is not central air. Outside grounds littered and badly overgrown. Back door so rotted that it could not be locked (lock fell out of wood). Cookware and implements rusty, marked and dull. Out of town owner has not maintained property and hangs up when we call to complain. We had to rent another condo and see little to no chance of seeing any money back - ever. This means we're out of pocket a great deal.
The bedroom is on a converted porch and the "bathroom" is a small shower, toilet and sink, washer and drier stacked next to the sink. Our next stop is the C o fC.

Wonderful Cottage
This is a wonderful cottage. We found the house to be very comfortable and the location ideal. It fit all our needs and more with a large LCD TV, hi-speed internet, large washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen and outdoor deck and grill. We enjoyed Delray Beach and Florida weather too--a great get away with an incredible beautiful beach rimmed with wonderful outdoor restaurants and shops. The house was in a nice area too, close-in and convenient. There was a grocery store, pharmacy, and a wine/liquor store within walking distance and great restaurants where we could walk and have coffee in the morning. Our vacation was a wonderful escape from those snowy, cold, dreary winter days. The security deposit was quickly returned to us. All in all a great experience!

Great location, great cottage
I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this house in Delray Beach. The location was wonderful. I could bike or walk right to Atlantic Ave with its great restaurants and galleries. I loved the house. It had cathedral ceilings, a new kitchen, nice furniture, and a great tropical backyard. I plan to go back next year, same time, same place. The house was accurately described in the on-line photos and description. The house was well maintained and the owner followed up to ensure I was satisfied with the rental. I would definitely recommend this vacation property. It was a find.
