Absolutely idyllic cottage on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Adare. The cottage is very charming and full of character. Our host David couldn’t do enough for us and was very helpful and informative. We will definitely be coming back!

Accessed by a rural lane, the traditional thatched-roof cottage where we stayed near Adare is full of authenticity and charm, and surrounded by a cottage garden with a sunny terrace, roses and arbors. We took walks along the farm lanes, carpeted with daisies and bordered with white flowering hawthorn hedges and cow parsley, Quite idyllic, and well situated for visiting ancient stone circles, ruined priories, and the bustling historic town of Adare. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful time!

We had a fabulous stay! The cottage was clean, comfortable, and cozy with all the amenities we needed. David and Joan were welcoming and all around great hosts! Jake and Ted became our canine companions, always there to greet us when we returned from a day of exploring. We look forward to another stay at this very special cottage!

Our favorite location in Ireland BY FAR. Already planning to stay here again if/when we return to Ireland. Our kids loved the dogs and cattle, my husband and I loved the authenticity of the cottage, the high water pressure in the shower, and the quiet location.

The grounds are breathtaking. The host and their two dogs were wonderful. This is a very old cottage and needs some updating like new furniture and mattresses. The beds are not comfortable, but our stay was magical! The area, the garden and the people made this a wonderful family vacation that we will remember forever!

Our stay at the cottage was a real delight. The farm atmosphere was a great change from town life. The cottage is located near Adare in County Limerick, so a trip to town was just minutes away. The area is beautiful and there are many pubs, restaurants, and attractions. We will definitely stay again if we come back this way

This cozy cottage was so welcoming! We loved how meticulously well looked after this historic space was. All the thick walls and comfortable beds made for a great night's rest. We enjoyed visiting in the sitting area with tea and the home-made scones. Our hosts were very hospitable.

My Ireland Dream
When planning this trip one of my goals was to stay in a thatched cottage. This was perfection. From the greeting we received from the owning family, to the wonderful homey decor, to the cows in the pastures and Jake and Rollie the corgis it was the ideal setting. Hope so much to be able to return at some point.

Enchanting Cottage
This wonderful 300 year old cottage is more even more beautiful and charming than it appears in the photos. My family loved our stay: snuggled up on a rainy day inside in front of the fire, sitting in the stunning back garden, eating meals prepared in the modern (but tight) kitchen, and wandering around the lovely farm.
Joan and David were very welcoming, and they immediately replied to any queries.

Lovely Irish Cottage
Lovely Irish Cottage in Adare. My sister, nephew and I always wanted to stay in a cottage Adare. My sister and I were born in Limerick. This was a perfect location to visit the family and take some road trips. There is a hotel across the road with two great restaurants. Joan and DAVID were so accommodating. The cottage was adorable and there was lots of open space on the farm to roam around and see the animals.I look forward to staying there again in the future. Thank you Joan and David!

An amazing experience
If you are looking for a unique Irish experience this is it. The cottage has all of the old world charm of a thatched roof cottage with all of the modern conveniences. Joan was great to deal with, the location is amazing. Can’t overstate how happy I was with the entire experience.

Amazing Experience
Cottage was clean, well appointed, and in a great location. Owners were responsive and helpful. While we had absolutely no problems or issues, I am sure that Joan and Micheal would have taken care of anything immediately. Our teenage daughters loved the WiFi and talking to the cows. The on site washer and dryer allowed us to pack way lighter than usual for a week long trip. Huge plus. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Magical Irish cottage
This is a magical place. In the middle of a working farm with the cows as distant neighbors. Lovely garden to relax and listen to the birds with a glass of wine or cup of tea. The cottage was clean and neat with lovely warm bedding and a touch of modern conveniences in the kitchen and baths. We did day tripping from Adare and most of our excursions were an easy 1 to 1 1/2 hours away. Joan was a delightful hostess and a wonderful artist whos paintings hang in the cottage.
The picturesque town of Adare is a couple of miles away with shops and restaurants and pubs to explore.
We just loved our stay and will be back.

Just lovely
Beautiful Irish cottage in a quiet setting and close to the village of Adare.( “the prettiest village in Ireland”). Central location making travel to many of the famous attractions in Southern Ireland very accessible. The owners were so helpful and Joan, Michael and David made our first trip to Ireland a truly memorable one. Hope to come back soon and stay in the Adare Irish cottages.

Outstanding service, Picture Perfect Setting
We probably couldn't have designed a more picture perfect setting to stay. The grounds are kept in beautiful shape, the house is sound and built to exacting standards, and the family is top notch in service. They are simply excellent people. The place is located in Adare, which is a beautiful little village 20 minutes away from Limerick. It had a couple amazing pubs with live entertainment, great food and drink. We also ate at the Blue Door Restaurant which offered amazing food and service. I would advise any American/Canadian visiting to use caution when entering the roadway from the cottage as the hedges are so thick and high, you cannot see whats coming. I had my wife get out of the vehicle and make sure nothing was coming, then quickly jump back in the car to ensure we safely got onto the roadway - that worked well.
Over all, we highly recommend!

A magical experience!
My husband and I took both the cottage and the barn for a two-week family get-together. As lovely as they are, the photos on the website do not do justice to the place. The two buildings are located in the middle of a working farm. The gardens are lush and well kept, the interior spaces are beautifully decorated, and the rooms are spacious, with abundant light and comfortable furnishings.
We took a number of day trips to amazing spots during our stay, but also found ourselves very content to remain at home, shop for and prepare our meals, and generally revel in the beautiful surroundings.

Outstanding Accommodations
This was our first trip to Ireland and we could not have been more pleased with the cottage and barn. It was a perfect combination of providing us with the look and feel of the traditional Irish cottage and the modern conveniences we have come to expect. Joan and her family were terrific and make the stay an absolute joy for the whole family. I would highly recommend this property to anyone going for a visit to the Emerald Isle.

A Dream!
This was the most wonderful stay we have had in all of Ireland! Joan could not have been nicer, both the cottage and the Thatched were beautifully decorated. We rented both and we're truly taken back with the cottage because there aren't any photos other than the living room. It is so charming and cozy! The Thatched is exactly what you see in the pictures, now image a turf fire! All the beds were very comfortable and the linens were soft and well appointed.
Our experience was wonderful and we can't say enough but you won't be disappointed! There were a total of nine in our group ranging in age from 5-55yrs and we all just loved it!!! It is so close to the village and has so much charm- from it's beautiful lane, funny & friendly dog, to it's beautiful landscape. Just Brilliant!!!

Perfect Irish Experience
Brought my 4 children and parents to Ireland to deliver my oldest to University of Limerick (just 15 minutes away). My parents stayed in the converted barn, while my children and I stayed in the cottage. If you want the most authentic Irish experience possible, stay here! Joan has taken such care to decorate these well appointed cottages so they greet you with a warm Irish embrace. You'll feel like you've "come home"! Dublin, Kinsale, Cashel, Dingle, Cliffs of Moher... all within a couple hours drive.

Absolute Heaven
I cannot imagine a more wonderful "Ireland" experience than the one that we had at this cottage. I spent 6 days here with 2 teenagers in late July 2012, and we loved every minute of it. It's the kind of place that you want to share with your friends and the world, because its so beautiful, and yet at the same time you want to keep it your own secret place.
The cottage is wonderful in every regard, and as pretty as the pictures are, they don't do it justice, because they can't capture the spirit of the place, which is half its beauty. And then of course, there are the hosts, who are extremely kind, welcoming and helpful, and they're there if you need them (afterall this is a picturesque working farm) and yet they offer complete privacy. It's just a wonderful, wonderful place and I hope that we can return again and again. I have recommended it to all of my friends and family ... all of the West of Ireland is at your doorstep when staying here ... we visited Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, the Rock of Cashel, the Ring of Kerry and so many other great places, and always had our sweet cottage to return to. Five Stars.

an amazing cottage
I want to second my sister's review of the cottage! I visited Ireland with my 2 sisters and cousin for a lovely vacation and to explore our family roots. The cottage could not have been more perfect! The setting is outside the lovely town of Adare and the farm was beautiful. You wake to the sounds of the cows and the emerald green pastures of Ireland. the cottage is authentic, homey and beautifully furnished. We arrived to Joan's amazing scones with clotted cream. There is much to explore on the west coast of Ireland and Joans place is a perfect home base to do it from.

Perfect Irish Cottage
We were greeted with a pot of piping hot tea, homemade scones and clotted cream, and a welcoming fire. And it only got better from there. The stone cottage was perfect for 2 (and at times 3) of us, just down the lane from a wonderful restaurant and bar and convenient to Adare yet a peaceful and relaxing location. It was fully equiped and we didn't want for naything. And Joan and Mike were perfect hosts; giving us space but available to answer questions, provide guidance (like how to drive) and make suggestions.

Lovely place, with lots of charm
We rented both of the cottages, to spend 5 days with family and friends.
The surroundings are absolutely lovely. The cottages are located a couple of hundred meters down a small paved road, which makes the place perfect for kids. The kids enjoyed all the cows and horses, and they took a particular liking to the cute Jack Russell pup.
The location in Adare was very handy for sightseeing. We spent one day at Cliffs of Moher, another day in Killarney. And Adare is only a few minutes away, so we got our food and take-always from the village.
I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and charming place in the west of Ireland.

Absolutely perfect!
A cousin, two sisters and I stayed at the cottage for four days. The previous review states everything that we would have said. We decided to stay in the cottage but the barn was also so beautiful it was hard to decide. The fire was so inviting and cozy that the rain we experienced was almost a welcomed excuse to stay in and relax. The farm was immaculate and fun to explore. Joan and Mike were great. Very helpful but not intrusive. Each time we returned to the cottage we were greeted by Hector and Roger ( their dogs) along with a new pup in the stables behind us. Though it was spring (April).the garden was blooming and well taken care of. I will definitely rerurn taking a larger group and both places. Thank you Joan and Michael for all your help... And loved the scones.

A Perfect Cottage
My husband and I so enjoyed our time in Adare at the stone cottage. It was beautifully decorated, extremely convenient and well located, and so very cozy. We quickly started thinking of it as “home.”
Joan's delicious home-made welcome scones were the best we have had and such a treat upon arrival in a rain storm. We were so well taken care of and grateful for all Joan, Mike and David did to help us with grocery shopping tips (we loved the Saturday market in Limerick), our iPad issues and day trip planning. Adare turned out to be a marvelous location from which to see so much of the west and southwest of Ireland. We loved having the cottage to relax in near a crackling fire and had a great time enjoying the horses, cattle and of course, the dogs. We think that renting both cottages would be great for a larger group.
