Very bad roads leading to property. Uber and other transportation refuse to pick up there. Car service recommended by manager demanded cash from our guests and refused to take them to a bank to withdraw from ATM. Scary situation. Manager would not allow access to pool after 6PM. Manager stays (lives?) on-site.
Booking issue on the fault of the manager caused reservation to be canceled for the first night.

We loved this property! Being so close to the beach was perfect. The pool was awesome. The property is lovely. Wifi was strong and reliable. The property owner Reggie was really helpful with any activities we wanted to set up. Him living on the lower level made it easy if we needed anything. I'd highly recommend!

Great place, clean, tons of room. Reggie & Shadow were great Lots of boogie boards, beach chairs, toys for kids. Pool was a good size. Quick walk down the driveway to the beach. We’ll be back!

The place is spacious and super clean, you can tell the owner cares about the renter satisfaction.

The beach is less than a 5 minute walk and we were often the only people there. The waves were great for surfing and boogie boarding (boogie boards kindly provided by host). The pool on the property was very nice. The kids enjoyed that and the pool table.
It would be nice if they added more couches and lounge type seating.
The host was very helpful in setting up transportation and COVID testing, as he lives on the property.
This property is a bit off the beaten path which means a form of transportation would be helpful or load up on supplies ahead of time.

Beautiful house in a gorgeous setting, quiet area, quiet beach a 30 second walk away. We had a wonderful time.

Very peaceful and safe. No city noise and quiet beach. Quick drive to several different towns. Great local restaurants and people. We will be back, especially to see their dog, Shadow!

Our family vacation, 9 people, had been in the planning stages for 18 months. We left Vancouver on March 14 for two weeks in Mexico, the first of which was at Casa Tortuga. This was the start of a new form of March Madness, the Covid 19 outbreak. The world was about to go mad. The night before we left, the family debated for an hour as to the advisability of going on this trip. Significant financial and emotional investment had been made. So we went. And what a treat it was. Reggie and Shadow were there to meet us at 9:30 Saturday night. A quick tour as Reggie explained the house and the procedures we needed to know. Reggie had also arranged for a chef to come and cook us dinner for the 6 nights we planned to be there. So on Sunday morning, we drove off to San Pancho to meet Orlando. What a find! I strongly recommend him and his buddy Freddie if you are looking for someone to cook for you. 1st class meals and a terrific personality exhibited by both men. It was a highlite for us. Reggie can put you in touch.
We had 5 adults and 4 kids, aged 4, 6, 8, 11. The pool was a big hit as was the games room. A short walk to the beach where our 11 yr old learned to boogie board. Great uncrowded beach with warm water and no sellers. We used 4 of the 5 bedrooms available to us and each had its own bathroom. The staff cleaned the place daily. Reggie lives on site so was always available for some advice or just a chat. The views from the decks were awesome. Parking was great for our two trucks.
With the worsening of the world situation what with closed airports and reduced flights, we elected to cancel our 2nd week and decided to head home early. This involved an extra day with Reggie which he arranged for us at a discount.
It was hard to head home after this oasis of calm and beauty but it was a battle that we wanted to fight on home turf rather than in Mexico.
How would I improve Casa Tortuga? I would add more lounge chairs at the pool and place a couch or two on the massive decks. Beyond that, this place was perfect for our family. The kids absolutely loved it. Reggie kindly arranged for a pinata for our 11 yr olds birthday. A real Mexican treat. In fact, he could not do enough for us.
I recommend renting the surf trucks (Ours from Gecko) rather than a small car. Not only lots of room but the roads are rough in the area. And speed bumps are very prolific!
I hope we can come back. This place is a jewel! Thanks Reggie!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Tortuga. The views are spectacular and the house is spacious and beautifully constructed. Litibú Beach is a fairly remote area, so the beach was never crowded, and we always felt safe. The house has a great kitchen, and if you are considering hiring a chef while you’re there, ask for Yolanda - she’s a fantastic cook. The pool area is gorgeous, and the owner (Reggie) had done a great job with the plants and trees, making the grounds feel very lush. We appreciated that the property is dog friendly, so we could bring our two dogs.
Things that could be improved upon:
• Two entrances on the bottom level can not be closed, which meant we had to keep a close eye on our dogs to keep them from wandering off. This could also be a concern for families with small children, especially since there’s no fence around the pool.
• The pool wasn’t heated. On warmer days (high 80s) it was cool but enjoyable, but when the temps outside were in the low 80s or upper 70s the pool was way too cold to enjoy.
• We longed for lounge furniture where we could put our feet up, take a nap outside, etc. Other than three lounge chairs by the pool, there are only dining style chairs, which aren’t very comfortable for relaxing.
• There is a slight musty smell in all of the bedrooms.
• The “queen” beds seemed more like doubles to us.
• The Wifi service was spotty and very slow.
• There was construction underway on the top level of the house during our stay, so we had to put up with a lot of noise most days.
A few other things that might be considerations for some guests:
• The owner & his family live on the lower level. It’s nice having Reggie nearby when you need help with something, but it does mean you have a little less privacy.
• The owner has a German Shepard who has free reign of the property. We liked him and appreciated having him on guard duty at night, but if you are scared of dogs, that could be an issue.
• A rental car is a must-have. Relying on taxis here would be challenging if not impossible. Additionally, the road conditions are rough, so the driving to get here might not be in everyone’s comfort zone (lots of potholes and huge speed bumps, and you literally have to drive across a stream to get to the area where the house is located).
• There are a lot of stairs, so anyone with mobility issues would be challenged.
• Cell coverage for some members of our group (Verizon users) was spotty. Our AT&T phones worked fine.

We stayed with Reginald over Xmas with our "clan" of 13 which included 4 grandchildren ages 5-11. They had so much fun and never ran out of things to do - beach a block away, very nice private pool, 4 levels to run around in, pool table, foosball, etc. Reginald was very helpful anytime we needed something yet gave us plenty of space. His dog, Shadow, consoled us when we missed our own pups. We used the kitchen a lot, even hiring to wonderful women to cook and cleanup 4 dinners. The kitchen was a little dirty in places which Reginald took care of immediately. Litibu is an out of the way place. This meant we had an uncrowded beach. It's also a little hard to find - don't believe google maps - you need to find the Litibu Grill, then cross a small creek to get on the right road. We rented 2 cars from Mex Alliance and got really overcharged. The full insurance and taxes nearly doubled the rental cost. Then they do a trick with the exchange rate - US to Pesos using 21/1. Then the US bank converts it back to US at about 18/1. This alone cost us an additional 15%! Our son rented from Dollar and was also overcharged. We think we could have saved money or at least hassles by hiring a van service when we needed it or even to standby all week. This our only big rant. We'll all had a fabulous time there and together as a family! I highly recommend Casa Tortuga!!

Great place for our whole family to enjoy sun, surf, proximity to nearby towns with great restaurants, fish market, surfing, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling. The beach is a minute away and was almost deserted for us. Fabulous time.

The house is huge, very clean and well appointed. It accommodated our large group with room to spare. We made two big dinners and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Reggie was excellent, he gave us great tips on things to see an do, even though the house is not on the main road it was just perfect distance-wise form both Punta de Mita and Sayulita, we really enjoyed and appreciated the tranquility and quietness of the house. The beach was great and just a block away.
We enjoyed playing pool and swimming in the pool, very very nice!
And last but definitely not least, Shadow the dog! I am not a dog person, but I would take Shadow with me in a nano-second! He is the greatest dog, so fun to play with and very well mannered, he was a real asset to our stay.
We definitely recommend Casa Tortuga, would stay here again!
Thanks Reggie and Shadow!
