About this house rental
Come relax at our mountain home retreat! Enjoy our beautiful view of the mountains and visit with the wild turkeys and occasional bear. Our “Mountain Rose” is nestled in a quiet country-like setting within 6 miles of downtown Asheville. Asheville has lots of great restaurants, shops, galleries, music, art, hiking and breweries. We are also less than 3 miles to Warren Wilson College, within a mile of their hiking trails, near the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Folk Art Center. Other nearby activities include golfing, tennis, and river rafting. If skiing and winter sports are your thing, Wolf Ridge Ski resort is 45 minutes away.
You will enjoy having the main floor/upper level all to yourselves as well as the back yard. When you are ready to eat, cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen. enjoy the mountain view on one of our chaise lounges inside or from one of the decks.
If it starts to get chilly, sit by the fire in the living room or master bedroom.
When you are ready to turn in for the night enjoy one of our lovely bedrooms, one with a king bed and a chaise (slightly smaller than a twin bed) that can be made up as a bed in the master alcove, the other has a queen bed. Both bedrooms and the dining room have cellular shades on the windows.
There are two full bathrooms, one with a tub and shower, the other with a roomy shower.
Guests should know that we sometimes stay in a separate and independent living space in the lower level. We will keep you up to date about when we will be in our space during your stay.

We loved this location- it was honestly perfect between Asheville and Black Mountain. We hiked every day and there are numerous trails within less than 30 minutes drive. We ate out in East Asheville as well as Black Mountain. Excellent stay- read carefully the description! It is accurate, but I don’t think our friends kiddos would have been able to stay in the space with the lounge chairs that turn into beds. The master bedroom is large enough for kiddos to stay with you in there. Overall rating was a 5 but I will say there were a few kitchen items we could have used (larger sheet pan and better knives). But really I would give it a 4.5 and I imagine they could remedy quickly by sharpening knives and purchasing a bigger sheet pan! :-) The home also does need to be aired out when you arrive, but this is a very quick fix with great and easy to open windows.

With the length of our stay, I think we can give an accurate assessment of Rose Mtn. Cottage
Pros: This house has a good layout, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The sunporch was enjoyable and we loved the lounge chairs. Communication with Karen was very good, always responding quickly to our messages, including clearing a tree that fell over the driveway.
Cons: The shared, blind driveway is extremely steep with a hard right turn onto another steep climb to the front of the garage. We were able to make a 4-6 point turn around to get back down facing forward.
There are no window coverings on the bedroom sunporch or either bathroom. There is very inconsistent cell coverage. The only TV is tiny. The 3 balconies are tiny. The pictured bench by the water feature is missing seating slats and is inaccessible because the area is so overgrown. The d/r chairs (and one l/r chair) are very wobbly to the point one collapsed with my husband. Karen explained she occasionally tightens the leg bolts by hand and would do it for us but it would take 3-4 hrs. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors have unmonitored batteries, giving the responsibilities to residents. No fun getting a ladder in the middle of the night to change batteries-twice! No ice maker! Welcome back to 50's filling ice trays!
I hope this gives you a clearer picture than we had!

Location is out of the way, but not so far that shopping would be an inconvenience. We saw a mama and baby deer just outside the kitchen window our first morning, and multiple animals visited during our stay.
The owner was EXCELLENT about answering questions and was easy to contact. The kitchen amenities exceeded our expectations - we were able to cook breakfast easily and reheat whatever leftovers we brought in. And having a washer/dryer onsite was a huge help.

Loved the serenity of this vacation home! We enjoyed the beautiful mountain views in the morning while sipping our coffee. Great location - with easy drive to downtown Asheville or Black Mountain.

This home is located in a very wooded, quiet and private neighborhod. Karen our host was very attentive during our stay and checked in with us several times. She helped me immediately with a request to stay an additional night.
The home is very well appointed with two bedrooms and two full baths. We especially enjoyed the wonderful sunroom right off of the living room. The mountain views are beautiful . There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room and a gas fireplace in the master bedroom.
It is in a very good location with Asheville just a short drive away.

We really enjoyed staying at Mountain Rose. The location was perfect. It had beautiful views and felt away from it all but was also located minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and downtown Asheville. The house itself is lovely. Karen checked in with us frequently and made sure everything was going well.

Beautiful location! Home was well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay!

This is a beautiful, cozy home with an amazing view to the area mountains with three decks to choose from! It is also located close to the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway and to Ingles, a major grocery store chain. Water quality was also amazing (we usually buy a bag of ice, but no need here!)
We enjoyed the nearby Creekside Taphouse, "A Neighborhood Joint", for great burgers, fries and trivia!
The only drawback to the location is that there was no place we could walk our dog as the neighborhood roads are quite steep (okay for driving, though) and the adjoining highway is a bit too busy with no sidewalk or shoulder. We found the walking paths at the nearby Warren Wilson College campus and the large yard at the Veteran's Hospital a great substitute, however.
Wifi was reliable. Neighborhood is quiet. Kitchen is well-stocked. Abundant closet and storage space. Overall, a great home away from home!

The property is beautiful. The home, large and comfortable, the gardens natural and lovely. the views are beautiful. The only negative was a general musty smell which was erased when we opened the windows and though the towels were clean, they had a very musty smell .We found the house to be very well equipped and were grateful for the coffee and other basics..

The property was very nice...good location, beautiful view, nice community and clean/well furnished. Our host was great to work with and made us feel very welcome. The only reason I gave 4 stars on two of the ratings was the outside of the property was very overgrown and not as shown in the photos that were used in the listing.

My brother and I spent a week in the Asheville area mountain biking and found the property perfect for our needs. We were within 25 minutes of downtown Asheville and within 90 minutes from a myriad of mountain bike destinations. The garage was perfect for storing bikes and the kitchen was well equipped for meal prep. There is a grocery store within 10 minutes of the house. The property owner was responsive and made the experience of renting very simple. We would rent here again.

Karen was easy to work with always communicating in a polite and timely manner. The place was great for my Wife and me and our Three children ( 4 yr, 2 yr and just under 1 yr old). There was a good amount of space for us to set things up for them and keep hiking stuff and strollers in the garage. We were just a short trip to a grocery store but still felt quite Remote. The kitchen was well supplied allowing us to prepare family meals which we enjoy on vacation. Solid vacation home for families!

We loved being secluded but still less than 10 minutes away from downtown Asheville. The house is fully stocked and the grounds are pretty. Karen was kind enough to also setup a Christmas tree for us. We plan to visit again!

This was the perfect home base for my family and me to explore Asheville. Very accessible to downtown, the River Arts District, and the Biltmore. Very comfy beds & pillows, well-appointed kitchen, lovely living room with comfy couches and sofa chairs around a wood-burning fireplace, gorgeous views thru the sunroom of the surrounding mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It Doesn't Get Better Than This!
We had a remarkable stay at MOUNTAIN ROSE....the property itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. And then there are the mountain and/or garden VIEWS from the windows and balconies! Wow. Thank you to Karen for always being quick to respond to any questions, and for helping make our mountain retreat something we'll never forget! K.

Asheville Retreat
This property was nice if you are planning to visit Asheviile. It is probably gorgeous in the summertime, but without leaves on the trees you were aware of neighbors all around! The owner, Karen, was nice and very attentive.

We would highly recommend a stay at this lovely home. The comfort level is outstanding. We enjoyed the open, spacious rooms and all the windows! The location is very convenient to downtown Asheville, the Biltmore, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hope to return.

Visiting family
Our daughter recently relocated to the Asheville area so we were excited to visit and check out some of the scene. Instead of staying in a hotel, we thought a place with more elbow room and other features would make the 3 of us more comfortable. Karen and Jonathan's property was perfect. A short ride from the interstate, a short driving distance to downtown, the Biltmore and hiking, made the property perfect. Being elevated, the living room has great views of area mountains and a valley. Bird watching is great, as is sitting and drinking coffee or other beverages, or just be vegetating. The house was very clean, with the kitchen having a good supply of cooking and eating utensils. Living room and bedroom furniture was very comfortable. We all enjoyed the home and the grounds. We will be back to visit our daughter when the trees and flowers start to bud, and this home will be at the top of the list for our future visit(s).

lovely
We enjoyed our stay, lovely house.
There was lots of bird watching, they were eating berries right outside the window which was fun.
Only complaint is we wish we had brought slippers to wear because of the no shoes in house policy.

Great location.
Nice place for four. Good space to not be overlapping one another. Also, great location to Asheville-only a. Short drive to the Grove Arcade section...and a good 9 mile waking trail within few miles fro. House at the folk art center.

Great location, very clean,
This is our second time staying at this property for our family trips to Asheville. It’s super clean, Karen is so nice and great to deal with, and the location is fantastic - really close to Biltmore and Downtown Asheville, yet still tucked away in the mountains in a picturesque and quiet setting. We will be back for sure!

Beautiful home in an excellent quiet location.
The house, location and host were all excellent. Property is very spacious with beautiful views with several areas to relax in. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked several meals in and enjoyed many at the numerous restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

We’ll stay again!
Property location perfect and central to all activities. Exceptionally clean, attractively furnished, lovely views, and hostess is gracious. Wild turkeys visited us along with the butterflies and hummingbirds. We awakened daily to songbirds’ greetings. We loved Mountain Rose!

Beautiful Getaway!
We SO enjoyed our time at the Mountain Rose! The view is spectacular, landscape is beautiful and the accomodations spacious and private. We highly remcommend it to those coming to the area. It is outside of the city, yet not too far. A perfect launching point to visit all the sites in the area!

For the price it was good
Beautiful neighborhood, amazing backyard, well appointed kitchen, great sheets and pillows...
Downside was the owners staying part time in the basement-this was uncomfortable - we could hear them (which meant they could hear us) and we had to compete for the water pressure.
They said it (where they were staying) was totally separate and independent, but it was not.

Convenient to Warren Wilson College
This home is roomy, comfortable, and well furnished. The kitchen is adequately stocked for cooking and eating in. Views from the living room and kitchen window are very nice. FYI, the driveway is fairly narrow & steep but OK. Karen is a pleasure to communicate and work with. I will keep returning here when coming to the area.
